Ch.49

I can't believe this. These convicts still don't believe us. After everything that they've seen and been told, they deny everything we tell them. "Here. You don't believe us, we'll show you. Come on." I say opening the gate for them with attitude.

As the men walk down the stairs to the courtyard, they take in the realization. The shock on their faces grow with every step that they take. I keep an eye on their leader, though. I don't like his attitude.

"Hmm. There's no way this 'Robin Hood' is responsible for killing all these freaks. Must be 50 bodies out here." the group leader spits at Rick calling him a lier. "We did it as a group. You calling us a lier?" I ask in a pissy tone.

"You telling me you killed off these freaks, too?" the leader asks me angrily pointing at me. I nod as I cross my arms over my chest and glare at him. "There's no way. You're a woman - small, weak, and frail." he scoffs at me looking away.

My anger spikes at that comment. "Say it to me again, asshole, and I'll show you just how weak I am." I shout lunging for the mexican. He evades me easily, and when I turn back around, he's smirking at me.

"You arrogant son of a...Wipe that smug smirk off your face, you prick!" I scream lunging for the man again. Before I could get a swing to his face, Daryl catches me around the waist.

"Easy, babe. He's just some bastard waiting to cause trouble." Daryl coaxes me to calm down. "I'm surprised you haven't thrown them with the walkers yet. Let them rip each other apart." I grit my teeth at him for stopping me. "Yeah, me too." he reassures thinking the same thing.

I watch Rick and some other guy argue over who gets the prison. "Guys, it's big enough for all of us. We can share. We will stay at this end and you guys go to the other end. That simple." I say trying to avoid another fight.

"We're moving back into OUR cell block whether you like it or not!" the black haired leader yells at Rick. "To hell you are! We fought for that cell block, and you're not taking what we worked so hard for!" I scream clenching my fists so hard that they turn white.

"Bitch, I still got personal artifacts in there! That's about as mine as it gets!" the prison leader shouts pointing his gun at me. "You pansy ass, mother fucker! Don't talk to her like that!" Daryl yells aiming his bow at the man's head. "Oh, Yeah? What are gonna do about it, hotshot?" he taunts clicking at me.

"Woah, woah, woah. Maybe let's try to make this work out so everybody wins." the red head says breaking them up. "I don't see that happening." prison leader comments glaring at Rick. "Neither do I." Rick agrees glaring at the prisoners.

"I ain't going back in that cafeteria for one more minute." the mexican leader gripes glaring at all of us. "You know, the lady is right. There are other cell blocks." the creepy red head says agreeing with my logic.

"Or you could just leave. Try your luck on the road. See how you fair out there." Daryl spits urging the group of men to go away. I glare at the leader of the group the whole time. We end up making a deal with them to clear out a cell block for half of the food left.

"Alright. Let's be clear. If I see you out here anywhere near our people, if I so much as even catch a whiff of your scent, I will kill you. Got that?" Rick threatens getting up in the leaders face. The man looks as if he's afraid. Good. He should be. "Deal." he finally says staring between his group members.

The men lead us back to the pantry in the cafeteria. During the walk, the red head guy begins to chat with me. "Uh, hi there. I know you don't know me miss, but uh...I want to thank you guys for getting us out of there." he stutters while talking with me.

"Um, you're welcome, I guess." I say keeping an eye on the creepy looking dude just in case he tries anything. "I'm Axel. Beside me is Big Tiny, Oscar, and Thomas." Axel introduces everybody.

"Look, you don't have to tell us your names, but I just thought it'd be a nice gesture to introduce ourselves if we're going to be working together and sharing this prison." Axel continues to chat. He seems genuine, but I don't really trust them.

"Our leader is Rick. That's all you need to know. You got a problem, talk to him." I retort stepping ahead of Axel. "Oh, okay. Thanks for the notice." he says a little too giddy. He's really trying to get on our good side.

When we take a look inside the pantry, I gape at how much food I see. "Thought there was only a little bit. You call this a little bit?" Daryl retorts staring at shelves full of canned food and other nonperishable foods.

"It goes fast. Trust me." the leader shrugs staring at me in my state of bewilderment. I try to avoid eye contact when I notice him glancing in my direction.

A few minutes later, we stock up on our goods that we bargained. I grab a box off the shelf and carry it out of the pantry. It's a little heavier than what I thought, but I can handle it.

Then T-dog tells me to put it on top of his box. He said I should stay with Daryl until they get back. "Why, though? I got this." I say continuing forward. "Because..." Rick stops me in my tracks.

"I need you and Daryl to stay in case they decide to turn on us." Rick whispers. "Oh, okay. I got you." I say placing my box on top of T's. "We'll be back. Stay put." Rick says urging T to follow him back to cell block C.

"What, are you the guard dogs?" the prison leader comments huffing at the two of us left to keep watch. "Shut up." Daryl replies still aiming his bow at each of their heads.

"Miss, I swear, we won't try anything." Axel buts into the conversation. "Man, would you stop acting like a goody tooshoo." I huff at him rubbing my temples. This guy is really starting to tick me off.

"What's so wrong about being nice?" Big T asks me genuinely curious. "Nothing is wrong about being nice. It's when you're overly nice that creeps me out." I answer honestly.

"I'm not that creepy, am I?" Axel asks dejected. "Well, kinda. Sorry, but you look kinda creepy, too." I answer him shrugging my shoulders. "Well, I'm sorry you feel that way." he says looking at the floor.

"I'm sorry. You're only a little creepy." I glance at Axel before turning to their leader. "You on the other hand, I worry more about." I cross my arms over my chest. "You're obnoxious and rude, and you think you're some hotshot. Well, newsflash, you're a creep." I spit at him causing him to glare at me.

"What did you say?" the Mexican snarls at me. "You heard me. You're a creep. I know what your doing when I'm not paying attention. You don't even try to hide it. I'm not going to fawn over you like some bimbo, so stop hitting on me." I reply.

"So feisty. I haven't been with a woman in so long, let alone seen a woman. A man has needs, you know." the man grins at me checking me out. "Hey!" Daryl inserts out of rage.

"You think you can just take whatever you want? Well you can't. This girl is not up for dibs and neither is the prison." I say placing the tip of my knife under his chin. I really want to slice his throat, but I don't kill people just because I'm mad.

"Easy there, doll." the leader says slowly pushing my knife away. "Don't call me that. After we clear your cell block, I don't wanna see you again. We're only helping you guys for the food and because we help people in need. But remember if you screw up, something bad will happen." I warn pulling my knife back to twirl it in my hands.
