The next morning, the four of us clean up and my dad has a field day making fun of how hung over we are. It takes us an hour to clean all the cups and scrub the spilled alcohol. Demetri is vacuuming the food crumbs and Miguel is wiping the pong table. Eli rubs his temples as he holds open the trash bag for me to put all the cups in. My dad stands at the window in his robe laughing at us with his coffee in hand. Once we finally get done, my dad takes a video of us carrying the trash bags to the dumpster. We're all hungover and messy, except Demetri who didn't drink.
Once we finish cleaning, we all eat the breakfast tacos my mom made. I notice that the tacos actually taste great now. I think it was the painful memories of Moon that made me swear off them for a while, but now we're back together. We talk about funny moments from last night throughout breakfast. Once we finish eating, I drive everyone home.
That night, I go to Moon's house to watch Christmas movies. Her parents are going out so it's just us and since my brother comes in town tomorrow, I'll be spending time with him. It's a blissful night and we get through about a movie and a half before we just make out instead. She now knows I love it when she kisses my neck, but I've got a nasty hickey from last night so we mostly avoid that. Once we finish our second movie, I leave and go home satisfied. My brother comes into town for Christmas and I tell him all about my new life. He makes fun of me doing karate instead of football at first. He does traditional Asian noises, but I challenge him a little sparring match. Once we're done, I'm smiling and he's lying to mom about "catching an elbow while playing 1 on 1 basketball," to cover up me giving him a bloody nose with a wheel kick.
Cobra Kai training goes very well as I can finally train again. I'm usually partnered up with Miguel, but Hawk wanted to soar with me. I beat him rather easily as he has no defense whatsoever and isn't super strong . At least not yet. Miguel, Hawk, and I go to Encino Oaks Country Club and use the weight room almost everyday after practice if we aren't too sore. I get them in with my number.
One day, we finished our workout and ran into none other than Kyler and Brucks once we finished showering in the locker room.
"Hey hey hey, it's whitewashed fat Albert," I say to Brucks and shove him lightly.
Kyler just looks at the ground pathetically. His bruises have yet to heal. Hawk just laughs as I screw with them a little. I grab Kyler's chin and tilt his face to look at Hawk and I.
"Look at this shit," I say aggressively holding his chin as Hawk bursts out laughing.
"Damn," Hawk says mid laugh.
"Looks like he tried to go down on Mike Tyson," I say and laugh.
"What kind of girl would ever wanna feel up this piggy," I say and scoop Brucks' man boob.
Brucks just looks at his body insecurely.
I throw my toss towel at Kyler without even looking and it hits him in the face. I'm fully clothed thankfully and Hawk and I walk out of the locker room to meet Miguel at the club restaurant. We order our food and leave. Christmas Eve is a lot of fun and Sensei actually took up my offer. He showed up looking a bit nervous and introduced himself to my family. I asked them about inviting Sensei over earlier and they obliged. They figured that no one should celebrate Christmas alone. My parents ask a bunch of questions about how training is going, blah blah blah. Sensei is a bit nervous at first, but he warms up when my dad and brother about 80's movies with him. At the end of the night, we're in my backyard. Sensei Lawrence, my brother, my dad, and me are drinking beers and talking about Iron Eagle.
"No way man that's awesome," my brother says when Sensei Lawrence tells him about when he and his friends saw the movie in theaters.
"Now I get all the metaphors you used when talking about how Cobra's always look out for each other," I say.
"Yeah and don't you forget it!" Sensei snaps jabbing a finger in my chest.
"So what's the weirdest thing a kid has done during class?" My brother asks.
"One time, this nerd was texting on his smartphone during class. So I slammed him on the matt, flying elbow to his teeth," Sensei answers doing the motions with his arms.
My dad raises an eyebrow.
"You hear that Blake, no texting," my dad says.
"Oh don't worry," I say in an obvious voice.
"Yeah, Mr. Murphy knows how to keep them in check. Only students who stand any chance against him are Miguel and Miss Robinson," Sensei says.
"No way, you let a girl beat you up man?" My brother taunts.
"Jim, Aisha would floor your ass in two seconds," I taunt back.
"I highly doubt that," he says.
"No trust me, Miss Robinson kicks the shit out of the other students, especially smartasses," Sensei jabs.
Luckily my dad went inside and didn't hear Sensei using cuss words. I told Sensei to take it easy on the language when my parents were around.
The rest of the night is a lot of fun. My family was skeptical of Sensei Lawrence at first as he showed up in a flannel and jeans, but they grew to love his humor and fun personality. By the end of the night, we're all laughing together around the fire pit in the backyard. I walk Sensei outside as he goes to his car.
"Well Sensei, glad you could make it," I say.
"No problem, thanks for having me," he says.
"So what's the agenda for next class?" I ask.
"Tomorrow's a day off because of Christmas, but after that I'm whipping your asses into shape! Gotta work off all the Christmas booze and pie," Sensei snaps.
"Looking forward to it," I say.
"What are you doing here?" A voice from across the street says.
The two of us turn to see Daniel LaRusso standing in the middle of the street looking tense.
"Hey Mr. LaRusso. Sensei Lawrence was celebrating Christmas with us," I say kindly.
"Is that right?" Mr. LaRusso says eyeing Sensei ominously.
"Where's your family Johnny?" Mr. LaRusso asks in almost a taunting voice.
Sensei's hand curls into a fist.
"None of your damn business LaRusso!" He snaps angrily.
"Well Johnny, how's your business doing?" Mr. LaRusso taunts.
Was he seriously making fun of Sensei for us previously having rent problems? What's his problem I thought Mr LaRusso was a good guy.
"Full dojo. Looks like your little trick to double the rent didn't work Daniele," Sensei taunts, but I can tell he's fuming.
My blood boils at his. Mr. LaRusso tried to double our rent?! What the actual fuck?!
"Wait a minute, you were the one who doubled our rent?!" I ask angrily.
Mr. LaRusso looks at me feeling a bit guilty.
"It's not like that—" he starts to answer.
"You tried to put us out of business!" I scream in a rage.
"You don't understand—!" Mr. LaRusso begins to say.
"Don't understand what LaRusso?" Sensei taunts through gritted teeth.
"Hey! I'm only gonna say this once—" Mr. LaRusso says pointing at Johnny.
"No, this is bullshit! He's helping people. Kids who want to defend themselves from people like you!" I yell jabbing my finger in Mr. LaRusso's chest.
"Blake—" he says trying to calm me down, but I'm fuming.
At this point he can fire my dad for what it's worth. This asshole tried to take my comfort place away from me.
"No be quiet! Why can't you just run your car dealership and leave us alone?" I yell.
I wasn't gonna tell an adult, especially my dad's boss to shut up.
"Cobra Kai in the valley will only end badly," Daniel tries to argue.
"Oh cut the shit LaRusso," Johnny says sounding annoyed.
I'm so pissed off I wanna punch the daylights out of something. However, I also just want to have a relaxing night so I decide to end the fighting.
"Look, we can argue about this another time. Just... let's go home and sleep on it. It's Christmas for crying out loud. Let's just have some eggnog. Non alcoholic for me I swear," I say to Mr. LaRusso, but wink at Sensei who chuckles slightly.
Mr. LaRusso sighs, but I think I got through. Sensei just shrugs.
"Alright, I'm sorry. Have a good night. Merry Christmas Blake. Tell your family I wish them a Merry Christmas also," Mr. LaRusso says sounding guilty and embarrassed.
"Merry Christmas Johnny," he says ominously.
"Yeah whatever," Sensei responds.
"Merry Christmas Mr. LaRusso. Tell Sam, Mrs. LaRusso and your son I said that also," I say awkwardly forcing a smile.
"Sorry about freaking out like that Sensei," I say embarrassed that I lost my cool.
"Don't worry about it kid. Should've seen the look on his face," Sensei says smiling.
"Well Merry Christmas Sensei," I say.
"Merry Christmas kid," Sensei says and we fist pump before he gets in his car and leaves.
For Christmas, I get some new PS4 games, wrapping for my hands to use with the punching bag, and some clothes. All awesome gifts. My mom even got me some Cobra Kai merch. A red beanie with the Cobra Kai logo on it, a black Cobra Kai t-shirt, and a blue leather Cobra Kai jacket with the small logo on the upper left chest and a big one on the back. No doubt I was wearing that to school on the first day back.
Authors note: it's the same as Johnny's red jacket, but it's royal blue like Bobby's from the original movie.
I loved Moon's gift. She got me a keychain to put on my car keys. It was a Moon shaped chain made of plexiglass with the picture of us smiling from our very first date at Golf N Stuff. My arm was around her and she was leaning into me slightly. Things have changed so much since then. I bought her the nice sweater I caught her staring at while we were window shopping on one of our dates and a gift card to the taco truck we love. Miguel brought over some of his grandmas delicious tamales a few days ago. I bought him the new Nike shoes he wanted one time we hung out at the mall. I remember him wanting them, but he couldn't afford them. I bought them in secret when I snuck off to "use the bathroom" while we were eating at the food court later. Demetri got me some Star Wars comic books that I don't know if I'll read, but I was a Star Wars fan so maybe. I got him some random comics about Avengers. I wasn't sure what to get Hawk since he swore off "nerd shit," so I just got him a navy Nike hoodie to match his blue mohawk. He got me a gift card to the record store we went to because I still use a record player despite the future technology.
Overall, the rest of the break was amazing. Except one thing, Amelia practically ghosted me. She wouldn't respond to my texts or calls. For New Years, the Gang, the girls from the woods including a moody Amelia, plus Sam and Aisha went to the LaRusso's house to celebrate and when the ball dropped, I dipped Moon down and kissed her. Hawk did the same to Melody. Demetri just took a sip of Coke and Miguel eyed Sam who looked away blushing when they made eye contact. Miguel smiled slightly through his braces and looked at the ground. We were all pretty drunk so I the awk awkwardness of being at the LaRusso house days after I yelled at Sam's dad went away.
The only bad thing about Cobra Kai training was Amelia. She would barely talk to me and she was extremely tough on everyone. She knocked some poor new kid's tooth out the day before we all went back to school. After class she stormed out of the dojo and I followed her.
"Hey! Wait," I called and she started walking faster.
I grabbed her and she spun around and tried to punch me. I blocked it.
"Are you insane?!" I yell.
"What the hell do you want?" She asks through gritted teeth.
"I wanna know what the hell your problem is. Why aren't you picking up the phone? Why are you in such a bad mood all the time? You aren't yourself lately. You're usually so cool and confident. You've got attitude, but now you're just a hothead. What's up?" I ask growing angry.
"You wanna know what my problem is?! It's you!" She says her pretty face growing red.
"What the hell did I do?" I ask.
"How could you get back with her after everything she did?!" Amelia yells.
"What?! I thought y'all were friends now. She apologized didn't she?" I ask.
I should've known it was about Moon. Ever since we got back together, Amelia started acting weird. Did she... did she like me?
"We are it's just..." she says starting to get flustered.
"Well I'm not leaving until I get an answer," I say leaning against the wall.
"Jesus are you stupid?!" She says snapping her fingers in my face.
I scrunch my eyebrows.
"I like you idiot! I like like you. I... have for a while," she says looking down blushing.
I kinda had a feeling, but I'm still caught by surprise.
"Amelia I..." I stammer.
"Please say something," she begs.
"I had no idea," I say.
"Boys are so clueless," she says shaking her head.
"Yeah, guess so," I say forcing a chuckle.
We stand there for a second.
"Well this just got awkward," she says.
"Yep," I answer avoiding eye contact.
"What if it doesn't have to be. I mean, you have great taste," I say after another painfully awkward silence.
"Shut up," she says smiling and punching me in the arm.
"I'm serious. You don't need to worry about anything. This doesn't have to change anything about our friendship. You're an amazing friend Ames. If it's any consolation, you don't really have anything to worry about when it comes to guys. Your personality is amazing, you've got great humor, you're smoking hot, and your a total badass in the ring," I say putting my hands on her shoulders.
"Thanks. I'm sorry about..." she whispers as her eyes begin to water.
I hug her. "Shh. No more apologizing," I whisper in her ear as she leans her head on my shoulder.
After a pause, I ask her if she wants to grab a bite to eat with Miguel, Aisha, and I. Hawk is busy with Mel so it's just gonna be the four of us.
"Sounds like fun," she answers.
Our conversation doesn't get brought up again, but I was exactly telling the truth when I said it was okay. I mean it was fine, but I was so confused and guilty. I remember all the gestures I made with her. Putting my arm around her, all of our late night FaceTime calls. I also knew she didn't act like this around other guys. I should've seen the signs and not been such an idiot. However, I'm happy with Moon and she's just gonna have to accept that. I still want Amelia as a friend as she's basically a female version of me personality wise. In the end, I believe it's gonna work out okay for everyone.
Authors note: school has been kicking my ass once again, but here's the newest chapter of Blake's story. Also don't worry, blake and hawk won't go on a bullying spree with Kyler and his crew. I just wanted to have them mess around with them a little to show how the tables have turned. Also to highlight Blake's personality because if he completely just didn't talk mess to Kyler and them, he'd just be another Miguel. Anyway, chapters that would be shown on the actual show are gonna pick up. Also, I'm very excited to write the All Valley.
