"Oh really? That's fascinating." In truth, I couldn't understand a word of what the little lovely nun ladies said. We were sitting on the stone wall's edge overlooking the sea. A long train of weaving rested over our laps, with each nun working on her own part. All our hands were busy. Well, not mine since I couldn't physically touch the strings, but I used the Force to move my section. The nuns didn't seem bothered by this, talking cheerily amongst ourselves. I grinned at each of them. Such sweet ladies…. "Did he say that really? Well now, I'm sure he didn't mean it," I was just making up their conversation on my own.

That's how Luke found us as he ascended the stone staircase. He saw us sitting there at work and shook his head before coming up more. "There you are. I thought you were supposed to be training," he reprimanded, walking up to me. "I was! But these nice ladies needed help with their weaving. Look! I'm using the Force to weave," I proclaimed proudly. Luke's exasperated head shook again. "That's not what you're supposed to use the Force for." "But I'm helping people. Isn't that what the light side is all about? Helping and supporting others?" I blinked up at him. He watched me for a moment until cracking a grin. His head lowered a little. "Yes….. Yes, I suppose you would say something like that, wouldn't you?"

Luke led me up to the top of a significant hill that afternoon. It was particularly windy but not in a bad way. He stopped right at the top where there was a gorgeous view of everything. Then my new master spun around to see me.

"Right, let's practice what you learned last week," he instructed. I hesitated. "I don't know… I don't think I'm going to levitate. I mean, I would have done so by now if I was able to, right?" Boy, did he not look impressed. His frustrated expression made me stifle my own amused one. I had to suck on my lips to keep them from smiling. "You just need more practice mediating. Once you're able to still your mind and sense every vibration, every atom of energy surrounding you, you'll be able to float. Now, get in position."

Holding back the urge to roll my eyes, I did as I was told. I sat down on the fresh green grass- my nightgown spreading out everywhere around me. With a deep breath in, I placed my hands on my knees and closed my eyes. Luke waited a moment before speaking again. "Now, concentrate on your breath….. Only focus on your breath," he coached me along. Wanting to be obedient, I did as I was told. "Concentrate….. Concentrate….." I tried my best to focus all my attention on my breathing, which is surprisingly a lot harder than it sounds. It took a few minutes but a familiar sensation- or should I say experience- kicked in again. My breathing naturally slowed and my mind drifted to somewhere far, far away. Somewhere warm, somewhere good…..

"Saoirse? Saoirse? Wake up, Saoirse," My eyes fluttered open to see Mando there, sitting on the bed right beside me. A smile drew itself across my mouth as my eyes fluttered tiredly onto him. "Are we there yet?" "Not yet. We still have a way to go." "Mmmmmm, really? That's ok then," my eyes drifted shut again. Mando simply observed me for a brief moment. My eyes reopened at the feeling of his gloved hand caressing my cheek. Of course my grin instantly returned as I saw him admiring me so.

"You must be tired. Do you want me to move so you can go to bed?" Mando shook his head. "No, I just came to check on you. You've been asleep for hours." "Oh…." I wasn't quite sure how to reply to that. The Mandalorian ran his thumb alongside my cheek, stroking it repeatedly. My hand reached up to cover his.

"You sure you're ok?" I think he was worried I might have caught a cold or something back on the port planet. Who can blame him? He found me sobbing wet and freezing cold at the frog couple's place. But I didn't get sick- not even a sniffle. "I'm fine. Just a little tired still." "Then go back to sleep. I'll keep an eye on things up deck." My smile widened. "Thank you, honey."

Mando wanted to move but he couldn't bring himself to. He relented and let himself stay with me a moment longer. I could feel his stare deepen right then. "What are you doing?" I asked but not in an accusatory tone at all. "I'm looking at you," was his gentle, tender response. My eyes lowered onto him- this precious, wonderful man of mine. My husband….. How did I ever get so lucky to become his wife? "Then look at me, and I'll look back at you. When I look at you, I see a lot of things…. and are everything I need."

My eyes opened to reveal- big shock- I wasn't floating off the grass. Luke looked like he was going to blow a gasket. "I thought I told you to concentrate." "I am! Well, I'm trying. I… I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I do what you told me and focus on my breath, but each time I do I… My mind just does its own thing. I can't explain it." "You're not trying hard enough, Saoirse." "Then I obviously don't know what I'm doing because this isn't working," my own voice rose a little.

Luke eyed me down, then let out a long huff. After a minute he sat down on the grass next to me. His vision scrolled over to me from the corner of his eye. "You never could levitate…. We worked on it for years and you never mastered it," he admitted. "I wonder why?" I pondered out loud. He looked out at the grass in front of him. "You're not a Jedi; you have worldly attachments we deny ourselves. I thought we could overcome it, but so long as you are attached, you'll never be able to emotionally detach yourself." "Oh…." This didn't shock me. So I had these "attachments" which kept my feet firmly planted on the ground. The very thought peeked my curiosity. My head spun towards Luke.

"Did I have any children?" And so, where are they now? You know, if not with their father. Luke blinked to me with slight alarm. But he didn't hesitate to answer. "You think I'd ever leave your kids?" Well, that answers my question. "So, I don't have children, then?" "No…." He gazed forward.

"What about Mando? You never did tell me what happened to him." "Saoirse, I know it may be on your mind, but I don't want you to worry about it. You and the Mandalorian have many happy years together; trust me." The Mandalorian…. Luke hasn't referred to Mando as anything but that since we met. I had a gut feeling that he and my husband may not have parted on the best terms after you know…. I die. Can't imagine that was easy for either of them to take, particularly Mando.

I drew my legs in so to rest the side of my head on my kneecaps. Luke gazed over at me but didn't say anything. I merely smiled back at him. His lips parted to inhale deeply. "You must know… that he's your greatest attachment." "I know….." I agreed. His head lowered a tiny bit. "Me too. I too, will hold you back eventually." "You don't hold me back; neither does Mando. I want to be attached to those I love, even if it means I'll never be able to float. I'm not a Jedi; I can love…. and I'm going to let myself love. Love is such a wonderful thing…" Luke's eyes softened onto me. "Yes, you are….."

He said this, causing me to glance at him again. Then I turned my attention back forward. Luke's breath could be heard from here. "You are the light side, Saoirse. You radiate, glowing like a ray of sunshine, able to burn through the darkest night. No amount of training can give you a Force power that's more impressive than one you already have. You are so pure and untouched by blood, that everyone who has sensed the light side before values you as an ally. And for that, they are willing to lay down their lives for you…. You are the embodiment of purity and the milk of human kindness. And I had the privilege to be your master…." "Luke," my eyes peaked over his way. He grinned at me and I smiled back. Then I gazed back up at the endless sky again. He exhaled in a profound manner. "You're not the only one who grew to have attachments, Saoirse." "Well, that's good, because I delight in your company." Still grinning, I then shut my eyes. My knees fell back into meditation position and my hands planted back on them. I thought 'eh, what the hell?'. My inhale was long and fresh, etching the sense of salty sea air filling my lungs. It didn't take long for my mind to drift again….

"Moff Gideon.

You have something I want.

You may think you have some idea of what you are in possession of, but you do not.

Soon, she will be back with me.

She means more to me than you will ever know."
