He'd never thought that they would be getting back to this point, and yet, here they were.

Six, almost seven years after Jesse's wreck, they were going back.

He stood up and wiped his hands on a rag, looking back at Jesse's restored Hudson. Once again done up in it's racing regalia.

It looked like the car had never left the track. Jesse had better like all the hard work he had put into getting the Hornet race ready again and doing up the now iconic look.

He grabbed Jesse as he went by and pulled him into the barn.

"Well, what do you think of the paint job? It's all done up like it used to be. Good enough for a test run?"

Jesse scrutinized over the car. Walking around it and running his hand over the curves of the car. He shook his head.

"No, there needs to be a change to the lettering."

"What d'ya mean it needs changing? It's exactly as it was before." He crossed his arms looking at his brother in disbelief.

"Original."

"What?" That was not what expected to hear, nor did he know what Jesse meant. It was the original font that was used.

Jesse pressed his lips together. In moments like this he still seemed 23 rather than the 29/30 that he was.

"The word original needs to be added."

"What for?" Confusion laced his voice. He still didn't get what Jesse was thinking.

"I'm the Original Fabulous Hudson Hornet. Not a copycat like those others."

"Maybe we should put prima-donna in there too." He retorted without thought, earning him a dirty glare. He had a sinking feeling that Jesse was going to throw up a fuss now, but old habits die hard as he commented about that glare.

"There's the Jesse I know." The look grew dirtier at him as the fuss grew.

"I'm the original. I'm not going back just to be thought of as some other person using a name that's already been made famous. It's been over six years Henry."

"Nobody's forgotten you-"

He sighed, as Jesse got into the Hornet and drove away. That was probably for the best that he left before he could mention that he was pouting like his toddlers did.

He should have known better. His brother was sensitive about anything that could be taken the wrong way about his five year nap.

The only one who seemed to have some leeway with it was Emily. Jesse just needed some time to cool off, and he'd make sure that Original got added on when he brought the car back. If he didn't do it himself.

oOo

"I like it, it's a nice addition." Jesse was looking at him so smug after Emily's proclamation. All he could do was roll his eyes.

"Good. It's staying like that until the end of the season."

Those two had become close after Jesse had woken up. They were getting to the point where they were tied to the others hip.

Jesse might not have thought about having a girl since he woke up, but it looked like he'd be getting one anyway.

oOo

It had been nearly eight years since he last raced professionally.

He would have been back the year before, but bureaucratic red tape had pushed him back a year.

That was probably for the best anyway. He had gained even more strength back in that year. After a lot of hard work.

It was the first race of the season and he was more nervous than he was letting on.

He and the others were still more on the outs with each other than not. They had commented on the Hornet's new paint job though.

"Rebranding yourself a little, are you?"

"Just making myself known."

"Well, we all know how that ended."

"With us all being blown into the dust."

He had started to bristle at their teasing, before they turned it from where he thought they were going.

"Didn't have to borrow a helmet this time though, did ya?" Scott threw in before heading off.

He wasn't coming back into this as a rookie unsung, trying to make a name for himself. His name was already made. It would just be proving that while he might have been out more than five years, it didn't mean he couldn't compete.

Jesse Hudson was not going to be taken down by a crash followed by a five year coma.

oOo

He had to admit that he was pretty impressed with how Jesse did this year. Not bad for a man who had been thought was never going to wake up. Out of the entire running his brother still made the top five by coming in fourth. Jesse might actually manage to place even higher again next year. If he didn't get to distracted by being married to Emily.
