A/N: This is not The Tales of version of Percy Jackson and the Greek Gods or Percy Jackson and the Greek Heroes, but rather The Tales of version of a book I got of Greek and Roman Mythology I got in Rome Italy. The settings will be after 'The Tales of the Heroes of Olympus: The Blood of Olympus' so please read that before getting in this story. Think of this story as something to pass by until The Trials of Apollo books.
Aethra
Well, since I'm still here, I didn't offended Aether. Thank gods, because I'm not exactly known for my good demigod status.
So since I'm still here, let me tell you about the mother of Theseus and how he came to be known as either the son of Aegeus or Poseidon.
First off, Aethra was daughter of Pittheus, king of was actually first wooed by another one of my half-siblings Bellerophon. But when Aegeus arrived at Troezen from Delphi, Pittheus arranged to ring together his daughter and his guest without the latter's knowledge.
To be honest, she was better off with Pittheus than Bellerophone because even though she wouldn't be able to live with Aegeus, she might of been pulled down with Bellerophone because of the stunts he pulled later on.
So it was said from their union Theseus was born.
It was also said that on the eve of the day on which Aegeus was to arrive Athena inspired Aethra in a dream to go to a neighboring island and offer a sacrifice to the hero Sphaerus. If Athena did that, I doubt she was aware what would happen to Aethra once there, because while there, she was raped by Poseidon. Athena and my dad don't get along very well and I doubt Athena would help Poseidon rape a girl. Either way, that was said to happen to Aethra. And no this is not one of my dad's moments I'm proud to call myself his son for.
But if you look into the other gods, I promise you majority are guilty of rape more than once. So there's practically no better deal when it comes to how gods produce demigods in the past.
This also happened the same night she slept with Aegeus, so that Theseus could pass as son of both god and man.
So instead of becoming wife of a son of Poseidon, she became a mother of a son of Poseidon.
Anyways, when Aegeas returned to Athens Aethra remained at Troezen where she brought up Theseus.
When Theseus became king of Athens, he entrusted to his mother the care of a girl he abducted gone by the name Helen. The same Helen who would run off with Paris to Troy and trigger the Trojan War later on. But for now she was a victim of kidnapped by Theseus.
So when her brothers came to rescue her, they took Aethra prisoner and forced her into becoming Helen's slave.
Ah, scratch what I said earlier about being forced with Aegeas is better than her life would be with Bellerophone.
Anyways, when Helen and Paris did leave for Troy, Aethra had to follow. Some stories would say that Aethra even encouraged Helen to leave with Paris.
Aethra was released when Troy fell as her grandsons Demophon and Acamas recognized her.
Her death happened when she killed herself out of grief after she found out Theseus was dead.
With that comes the end of Aethra. And next we talk about the immortal being living in the largest volcano in Greece.
