Chapter 7 – New Weapons and Good Times
Ajay woke to the light tapping of rain on her bedroom window. She opened her eyes the see the dim, grey light peering through the blinds of window. The rain was a soothing feeling, it never got old. Getting up was not easy. It wasn't just the alcohol or pills that hit her hard, the arena left her in some pain. Even though the battles did not kill any Legends could leave them with some physical wounds sometimes depending on how the system was functioning that day. She wondered if that's why Bloodhound sat out last night.
She finally made it to her feet and then back down to the floor to retrieve her phone. She felt better ground anyhow, she was a little dizzy from standing up so quickly. She sat on the floor for the time being. At least today was an off day for the Legends; Sundays usually were. There was no training or battles today. She turned her screen on, it was only 9am. She had an ongoing group chat with all the Legends. They all checked in last night but her. She had a few missed phone call from Anita. "I am never going to hear the end of this." She sent out a text message apologizing. She also mentioned she got home and went right to sleep. She had to cover her ass.
All of the memories of last night came flooding back. She pressed her back against her bed. He face felt warm. She was getting worked up over last night. The sexual tension was heavy just thinking about everything that happened. She quickly slipped her shoes off and tossed them to the side. She shimmed out of her shorts and tossed them with her shoes. She wasn't getting up any time soon so she would make the best of her morning. She set her phone down beside her and stuck her hand into panties.
She parted the lips of pussy with her fingers. She was soaked thinking about that man from last night. She immediately found her swollen clit and began to touch and rub it. She gave a small moan and bit her lower lip. Her free hand was clawing at her leg and after a few minutes of vigorous rubbing she began to orgasm. She moaned loudly and slumped against the bed. Once she was able to regain composure she let out a sigh of relief and got to her feet. She removed the rest of her clothing and got into the shower. She took a long hot shower. She had nowhere to be today.
After she got out of the shower she put on the essentials, a pair of floral net tights with a pair of grey shorts over them, and a loose fitting white tank top, that really didn't hide much of her bra. She gave D.O.C. a pat grabbed some strawberries and yogurt for breakfast. She remembered getting in around 6am. She didn't really sleep much these days, the nightmares would get to her if she slept too long. She ate a few bites before picking at it and throwing the rest away. She needed to find something to do to get her mind off of things.
She wandered back to her bedroom and to retrieve her phone. She turned the screen on to find that she had five missed calls. "What the hell?" All the calls were from Anita. She tried calling her back but she didn't pick up. She had a text message from Anita as well:
Kid. Get to HQ ASAP.
Ajay sighed. She hoped she wasn't in some kind of trouble. She slipped on her black Dr. Martens. She shoved her phone into backpack and dug around for her wallet. She couldn't find it. She must has lost it last night. She was beginning to become frustrated with how this day was going. She pulled on her black hoodie and threw her hair up into a messy bun. As she pulled the hood over her head she felt D.O.C. nudge her leg. "Perfect timing sugar." She scooped up D.O.C. and packed the drone into the pocket of her back packet. She fashioned an old skateboarding backpack into a D.O.C. drone carrying backpack. She raced over to HQ on foot. Jumping in as many puddles as she could along the way.
Checking in at HQ was generally an easy task if you had your work badge. You just flash to security and they let you in. But in this case Ajay did not have her badge. She made her way to security and explained to one of the guard son duty that she had lost her wallet. To her surprise the security guard handed over her wallet. The security guard explained to her that someone found and dropped it off. Ajay nodded her head in and approval, put her wallet into her backpack and thanks the security guard. She didn't even know where Anita was. "She's so vague sometimes." She figured she couldn't go wrong if she checked Anita's favorite place first, the firing range.
Ajay headed towards the elevators and hitting the down arrow. Normally she would take the stairs but she was still sore from yesterday's events. She entered the elevator as soon as it arrived and quickly remembered she needed to scan her badge to get to the basement or anywhere in the building besides the lobby. Luckily her wallet was right on top as she unzipped her backpack. She pulled her wallet out and attempted to swipe her wallet several times against the badge reader. When it didn't work on the fifth attempt she finally opened her wallet to retrieve her badge. She finagled her badge from her with some sort of note. Ajay swipes her badge and reads the note:
For another good time call or text ***-***-****
Her face was warm and she was blushing. She flipped the note over, there was nothing on the backside. She now knew who returned her wallet. She B for basement and shoved the note and her badge back into her wallet.
The elevator was fast even though the firing range was located deep underground. The environment was a hot sandbox that was similar to a desert. In the firing range every weapon, weapon attachment, armor, backpack, knockdown shield, helmet, healing item, accelerant, and player ability was available to try out. Ajay saw Anita and then she heard her firing an unfamiliar weapon. She quickly ran down the hill but slowed down as she got closer to Anita. She never wanted to sneak up on Anita, especially if she had a loaded weapon. "I'm not stupid." She waited for Anita to be done and for her to notice her. "Kid. What the fuck are you wearing?"
Ajay shrugged off Anita's question as she pulled her hood back. "Is dis what ya called me down here for on our day off?"
Anita smirked, "Nah." She pointed at the new weapons. "This is what I called you down here for. Full access. They don't go live for a while."
Ajay's eyes lit up. She was like a kid a in a candy shop. She tried out all of the new weapons. Hours had past and Anita left. When Ajay noticed Anita was gone she slipped herself a pill and continued testing out new guns. She made sure to get in training new and old weapons. She wanted to be the best at this blood sport. She a lot to prove and someone to prove it too. Her new favorite weapon was the Hemlok but she would have to wait until they distributed it onto the map before she could use it. She was digging the longbow as well. Before she knew it the day bled into night. She trekked back up the sand hill towards the elevators and pulled her phone out of her backpack.
She looked at the time on her phone. It was 7 pm. It was only 7pm. She had been there for eight hours. The night was still young. Ajay didn't have many friends in this city besides her work crew. She sat down in front of the elevators and dug through her backpack and her wallet and got the note with the mystery man's number. She typed the number in her phone. She debated if she should call him, or text him, or anything him at all. She started typing a text message:
Hey this is...
Nope, she deleted it.
I found ya number...
Nope, she deleted it.
Hi...
Nope, she deleted it.
She took a deep breath and held at she furiously typed on her phone.
Looking for a good time.
She hit send without a second thought and pushed the button for the elevator. She clutched her phone tightly in her hand as she entered the elevator.
