Santana was jolted awake by a sudden pressure on her chest and a firm poke in the cheek and she can't help the sharp glare she shoots Charlie who is currently crouched over her, poking her repeatedly in the cheek. "Will you knock it off!" She makes a weak attempt to swat Charlie but the vampire is gone and she catches nothing but air. She rubs her eye and blinks when she realizes that Quinn is currently leaning against her dresser staring at her. "Look it's far too early in the morning to deal with whatever shit you want to put me through, so can I just sleep in?" With that she pulls her blanket over her head and hopes that they've both gotten the message and will simply go away.
"See, this is what happens when you're nice about things about these things Charlie. You spoil her and she thinks it's perfectly acceptable to talk back to us. Also, that's not how you wake her up. This is how you wake her up."
It's the sudden sensation of falling that gets her twisting and turning and she lands with a thump on the ground glaring at Quinn who had lifted her mattress and rolled her out of bed. "Have you lost your mind?" There's a sharp pain in her forehead and she realizes that Charlie had flicked her. She rubs her forehead getting more and more worked up.
"We've decided to overlook your little indiscretion yesterday," Quinn informs her bluntly. "Only because we both couldn't agree on what to do with you. So, we've decided that you're on probation."
"Probation?"
"You're still a terrorist," Quinn shrugged, "And it's come to our attention that your little eclectic group of terrorists, most of which were thralls. You're on probation. But since you've worked so hard on the election which is today, I assumed that you wanted to see if your father won. I mean he is running unopposed, so that's a given."
Santana frowns and immediately sits up, "What about Emma and the black court? You're still having elections today?"
"Well, I imagine if we didn't have them today you'd insist we talk to the reporters again, and neither one of us want to do that. So yes, there will be an increased presence as much as we can manage, Emma will probably use today to throw us of completely, which is why you will stay by our side for the entire day. Once the winners are announced you can congratulate them."
Santana rubbed her eyes, "Fine."
Charlie makes a gesture at Quinn who nods, "I agree and since this was her idea she should think of some fancy swearing in ceremony to make it look official."
Santana narrowed her eyes at the two of them. "She waved her hand once, how did you get all of that from one hand wave."
Charlie blinked at her and smiled for a moment before nodding at Quinn who translated for her with an amused smile. "She says she's going to see if Brittany is finally up and if she can help our patrols."
"Seriously, how—"
"After of course you will be joining us in our bedroom after the election, we must have a discussion about your off-handed comment the other day."
Santana frowned, "What off-handed comment?"
"That my dear sister is a better fuck then I am, clearly that won't stand."
Santana glared at Quinn, "I stand by my words and I don't want to sleep with either one of you." This statement is met with an amused exchange of looks of between the twins. "I'm serious. I realized that the only reason you're even entertaining my ideas is because I'm sleeping with you."
"Don't be an idiot Santana," Quinn said raising a brow. "We were listening to you whine and bitch at us for months about the plight about humans. We started doing something about it before you decided to sleep with us. So really, you sleeping with us has more to do with the fact that you find us to be attractive. You liked it, and now you want to blame us for your bad choices." Quinn looks at Charlie. "We have never forced you to do anything, well at least sexually, we had your consent every time right Charlie?" Charlie nods at this statement. "So, you will be at our room later tonight, once the day is over."
"That's not happening," Santana said firmly if her father was going to be around she wasn't going to be sleeping with either of the twins. She frowns when the twins exchange looks and smile at each other. She was not playing this game with either of them. She didn't care how devious they were or how talented they both were in getting her off. "I never sleeping with either of you again—" she glares at Charlie who snorts at this. She's about to insist when they both disappear leaving her sitting on her floor, her mattress tipped over and she groans. She hated them, so much.
~O~
'Even with the increased police presence and the vampires, people have been trickling in to start voting. We'll keep you up to date with any information we have.'
"I don't see how you didn't just end this Brittany, a knight getting injured? Sue's ready to raze this place to the ground and call it a loss if we don't manage to get this handled."
Santana turned back to look at the discussion that was raging behind her, it had been easy to ignore her. They had been questioning Brittany since she had decided to finally join them. She had ignored them of course, and she wasn't wearing her stupid collar, she wasn't a pet and she wasn't going to play their stupid game at least until they apologized. She didn't quite know why she was upset with them but she was and they needed to apologize.
Brittany puffed out her cheeks in annoyance and glanced over at Santana, smiling at her when she realized that she was staring at them. "She was faster than me, I didn't even see her move to kill Puckerman, she's either well fed, or she's like you and is something else entirely, I only just managed to avoid a lethal strike."
Quinn and Charlie exchange looks. "Then why go through all of this, if she's just as powerful as us why use humans at all. It would be far quicker to just take out most of the members of the Red Court? I mean Tina wasn't exactly going to be winning any fights, it would be far more effective than having a bunch of humans attempt to take her out."
Santana suddenly felt an arm wrap around her shoulder and she frowns at Brittany, "I still don't want to be a vampire, and no you can't drink from me."
"Just a little bit," Brittany asked leaning in and inhaling gently. "There was a hole in my stomach not to long ago and the blood that they gave me tasted awful."
Santana pushes Brittany off her and moves further down the couch. She was tempted to simply ignore the vampires, but there was something that was eating at her, and she needed to know the answer. "Why are you at war with the Black Court anyway? Is it a territory thing? Like are they just evil? And if they're evil why are they evil?" She's met with blank looks from all three vampires and she blinks. "You don't know? How the hell can you not know?" They had been the ones to teach her to question everything, and to get to know things.
Brittany shrugged her shoulders, "The war between our two courts has been going on for centuries, before my time. Since I've been a member that's all we've done is kill them, and then play the silly court games in times of relative peace to keep us entertained."
Santana turned to look at Quinn, Charlie probably had never cared to find out either but Quinn had to know, she didn't see Quinn getting involved in a pointless war without knowing the reason. "Well?"
"I doubt even Sue knows how it started, though the difference between the vampires, is simple, we can control the thirst and they can't. Until recently we believed that it was a death sentence for any of the black court vampires to be out in the sun, but clearly that's incorrect—"
"She could be extremely old, Mike mentioned something about that in one of his reports, the older vampires aren't bothered by it as much as the younger ones are. It could also explain her speed and strength." Brittany pointed out.
Quinn frowned making a mental note of that fact before turning her attention to Santana. "It's a difference of philosophies mostly, but it didn't matter back then before the number of humans on this planet plummeted due to some stupid virus you unleashed on yourself. Sure, there were skirmishes, and we certainly killed every single Black Court vampire that arose, but it's never been like this before. What I know for certain is that unlike a vampire from our court, they can't control the thirst, that's really the big picture of what separates them and us. Sure, there are times when you've seen Charlie feral, but put some blood in her and she's fine. What I also know is that the change didn't turn us into different people, turning into one of them it changes you. I don't quite know how to describe it. But it's like the process of becoming a vampire changes them on a fundamental personality way. Couple that with an unquenchable thirst, and humanities diminished numbers?"
"Humanity is a product Santana, as much as you don't like it. Our very existence depends on your survival, at least my existence," Brittany points out. "We're not exactly certain what they are."
Quinn licked her lips and looked over at Charlie, who was pouring herself another bowl of cereal. She chooses to ignore Brittany's jab and focus on the question at hand. "So, we fight them, and we keep their numbers down because if their numbers grow then everyone, humans, vampires, and shifter lose. As for what started the original fight, I doubt even Sue truly knows."
Santana swallows and nods, that made sense in a way, sure Emma had looked human but the brief look she had gotten from her had made her feel unsafe. "I guess that makes sense. So, what if this is just her way of fighting back? I mean you've managed to keep their numbers relatively contained right?"
"Easier ways to do it then this way," Brittany pointed out. "She could have killed me, but she didn't. I think she's got a message and we should attempt to take her in alive if we can so we can question her. Then we kill her."
"I agree, we still don't know if this is one vampire or a group," Quinn frowned and reached over to take Charlie's cereal away from her. "Seriously go and do your patrols, and make sure that the people feel comfortable to vote or we'll never hear the end of it."
Santana frowned, "I feel like that was a jab at me."
"It is," Brittany smiles at Santana, "I wouldn't take any jabs at you if you—"
Santana picks up the remote and turns the volume up. She no longer cared, she wanted to see her father's interview on television and his victory speech. Then she would go back to ducking him so she didn't have to answer any of his questions about her sex life.
