Staring at his lover, Tony smiled as Loki shifted, sitting up in bed to watch as the sun rose outside of their window. "It feels kind of weird to know that he's going to be sending his people down with transport circles. Even knowing that he knows who we are," he said when he felt Loki's hand slide up his back.
"He is very smart, but he thinks that he is much too powerful for such a backwards planet to stand against him," Loki drawled. He sat up and draped over Tony's back. He pressed a kiss to a dark mark that sat high on the man's neck, getting a smile from him. Somehow, in the last couple of years, they had gone from reluctant allies, to friends with benefits, to actual lovers. Partners in all ways that mattered.
Tony snorted and patted his arm, resting back against his lover with a thoughtful look on his face. "True. And we have so much help. Between you, me, the X-Men, Ichigo, and all of the other groups out thereā¦" he trailed off. He shook his head. "It's amazing how an outside force has forced us all to stop and really look at what matters and how it changed things for all of us," he continued.
Loki chuckled as he moved away to get out of bed, knowing well enough that neither of them would be staying in bed now that the sun had started to rise. "Come. Let us take a shower and make some coffee. I am sure that the little bakery that you love so much will be open soon enough. We can take a stroll down to it, pick up some of those pastries that you and Ichigo adore while they're fresh. I'm sure that he will enjoy having something sweet to arrive to before work."
"How about we get the whole set for breakfast?" Tony suggested as he got out of bed himself. He followed Loki into the bathroom, staring at the wardrobe beyond that. "Pick up some of their mixes for it. We have eggs, and we can grab some bacon from that small store on the way. Maybe some sausage," he said.
Loki tipped his head to the side as he turned on the water, allowing the shower to heat, still bare from their night together. "That does sound like a wonderful idea. I shall head to Little Tokyo while you start cooking to get some of that tea that Ichigo and I like," he said. Tony smiled and walked over, taking a slow shower with his lover, basking in the quiet time that they were able to have before they went back to planning and setting things up for Thanos.
After the hot shower where they had just touched and washed each other, the two lovers dried off their bodies, dressed and left the tower, noting that a lot of people had already left their homes. They were most likely at their assigned safe house already, and those that needed to make money until the last possible moment were opening the stores.
Most of his own employees had already moved into the bunkers out by the compound. They were working to set the last of the things that would allow them to keep working during the rebuilding process.
"This is going to end up being bad in a lot of ways," Tony sighed as they walked into the grocery store that Loki had discovered on one of his many jaunts. It was more of a well-stocked corner store, but was well priced, carried a good selection of the essentials and not so essential items, and was open twenty-four seven.
"But it will not be as bad as what it would have been," Loki observed. "The Sorcerers have already set up the protections on Vision, and even around their own stone. Stephen is prepared with his magic, along with the fact that he can use it much better and is smoother in his casting with all of the practice he has done."
"Something that makes you preen since you got to teach him new ways of twisting his magical abilities to do more," Tony chirped at his lover. They walked down the short aisles towards the back where the meat selection was. Loki smirked at his lover as they came to stand before the breakfast meats. Looking over it, they decided to go for the thicker sliced bacon, gathering two packs of it and their favorite sausage links. Loki picked out a pack of Canadian bacon that he said reminded him of a favored smoked pork option from Asgard.
They swung by the deli while they were at the store and picked up some thicker cut lunch meat and cheese before they bought their items. It was a matter of another ten minutes to walk to the bakery, picking up their chosen Danishes for breakfast, a bottle of the bakery syrup and picked up the buttermilk waffle slash pancake mix they liked. Loki smiled at the cashier, brought his lover close to him and transported them from the door to the penthouse.
Tony rolled his eyes, but thanked the other man since the city, nearly empty or not, was starting to wake up and he didn't want to deal with too many people when they started to head to the transport circles. Loki placed the bags in his hands onto the island, stole a kiss, and disappeared to get the tea after grabbing the wooden box that Ichigo stored it in. Tony had no doubt that his lover would most likely spoil them all and get some good coffee but turned to starting breakfast after checking the time.
Loki arrived and placed the box of tea and the bags of coffee near the coffee pot and kettle, starting to set the table after seeing that it was close to eight, a time when Ichigo usually arrived. Ichigo strolled into the penthouse right as the hour turned to eight, looking a touch harried but still dressed to kill.
"I take it that your family was able to get to their transportation?" Loki asked as he left the kettle, smoothing a bit of Ichigo's fire colored hair back into the bun.
"Yes, they did. Shinji was nice enough to pick up Yuzu and Karin. Dad was picked up at the hospital with the last of the patients by Mashiro. The rest of the circles were set up last night by the Vizards with the help of the Shinigami and Grim Reapers who were able to get free for this," Ichigo said. He paused and sniffed the air, moaning at the scent of sugar, spices, fruit syrups, and coffee perking. "Please say that you're feeding me today. We only had frozen waffles in the apartment."
"Of course, buttercup," Tony chirped as he started the water, Loki moving to gather the tea set that he had placed on a small tray, leaving the teapot next to the kettle. "We picked up some pancake-waffle mix, some breakfast meats that are about to be done, and Danishes just because. And I'm thinking paninis for lunch with some fries that are done the right way. With vinegar and salt."
Ichigo made a happy sound as he kicked off his shoes and put them onto a small shoe rack that Tony had long ago put together for him when he was feeling particularly traditional. His bag and briefcase were placed onto the small side table next to the shoe rack, his jacket pulled off and hung up, letting him sigh in pleasure as he sat. "I'm kind of glad now that I didn't want the frozen waffles," he said as Loki placed the steeping teapot next to him.
"We are to go to war tomorrow with the Mad Titan," Loki said, "thus I think that it is understandable that frozen waffles are not high on your list of things to eat." Ichigo hummed as he checked the tea and poured a half-cup for himself, sitting back to sip at it with a small smile. Wade wandered out of the guest bedroom, clad in nothing but his sweats and a shirt, rubbing at his head. "I thought that you would have been gone for another few hours."
Wade grunted as he took the offered mug from Tony, taking a sip of the rich brew. "Finished it early. The idiot decided that instead of losing everything, he'd suck it up and work with the rest of the world," he said. He took a seat next to Ichigo and eyed the pretty male. "I wasn't expecting a giant cat to take over Ichigo's place," he said, hearing the soft rumble coming from him.
"Loki popped out to refresh his favorite tea," Tony said as he started to carry out platters. Loki took the plates and handed them to Ichigo, allowing him to lay them out before they disappeared into the kitchen for the rest of the food. Wade smirked as he lifted the lid on the tea pot and sniffed.
"Ah. The really good shit. Lucky boy," Wade teased, Ichigo rolling his eyes. He handed over the silverware that had been put down near them.
"It's a special green tea, and if you wanted to, even with your weapon and drug needs, you can buy some for your place. It's not horribly expensive," he said.
"I do not pay more than four bucks for tea, and you know it. You also know that tea there is four bucks an ounce. I can get weed for cheaper," Wade drawled. He snatched a few of the platters that were floating out to them to put them onto the table.
"Such a heathen," Ichigo teased, smirking at the man as he stuck his tongue out. Tony and Loki settled at the table with their own cups of coffee and the four turned to the food that would be one of the last meals before war broke out the next day.
