Sirius screamed into the microphone, watching as everyone in the crowd screamed back, throwing their hands in the air. The Marauders were on fire right now. The venue was completely sold out and Sirius could see a few people standing in the back. This was the life. They had come so far from playing random noises in James' parents garage. This was the life, their life.
He laughed as he launched into the lyrics of the Marauder's newest song – Mischief Managed. He could hear Peter beating on the drums, could hear James' deft fingers flying over the guitar. Sirius, however, only had eyes for the young man standing just behind the edge of the stage.
Remus Lupin had no musical talent, sure he could howl loudly if someone needed that particular sound effect, but no, Remus had the most important job in the band. Sirius would even admit to it, despite it was his good looks and tight black leather pants that kept the groupies coming back.
Remus was the heart and soul of the Marauders. He was also their songwriter, lyricist and the love of Sirius' life. He'd been trying to get the shy Remus onto the stage for awhile now. This was the way Sirius Black liked to live – large. He wanted nothing more than to share that energy, the pulse of the crowd, with Remus.
Sirius finished singing their soon to be latest hit and launched into one of his favorite songs – Full Moon Love. He'd nearly reached the climax of the song when he realized something, no someone, was missing. Remus had done some vocal work for the song when they'd recorded it the first time. He needed to be out here for this one. This was their song after all. Sirius shimmied across the stage, grabbed Remus' hand and pulled him onto the stage. Sirius gave Remus knowing look as he handed him a microphone. Remus took it gingerly, his eyes falling on the crowd.
Remus blinked at the bright lights, at the throng of people cheering. With Sirius' prompting, Remus let out a primal wolf howl, like the kind he'd recorded for the record version of the single. The crowd went wild for the newest addition to the stage. Sirius laughed and faced the crowd.
"Remus, Remus, Remus," he chanted, throwing his hands up, inviting the audience to join in the change. Remus' face flushed slightly, but he let loose another wolfen howl. Sirius brought the screaming to a fury pitch, finally letting the air fall silent as the song finished. Remus put an arm around Sirius'
"I love the way you're screaming my name," he whispered, as James and Peter finished the last few notes of the song and the stage lights dimmed. Sirius kissed Remus passionately.
"I know, and I promise you'll be screaming mine later," he whispered, as the audience called for an encore.
"Shall we give them what they want?" Remus asked, glancing back at the wings, where he'd preferred waiting.
"If you stay up here with me, Moony. Got another good howl?" Sirius asked, giving him a wing. Remus flushed but nodded as the lights brightened. James and Peter launched into one of the band's earlier hits – Love of the Forest. Sirius smiled, glad he'd finally managed to share the stage with the man he loved, knowing, that although he'd never admit it, Remus was enjoying every minute.
