Atlas Pt. 2.
(Dress shopping)
"I can't believe you called Ironwood a Son of a bitch."
Looking up from where she was examining a brilliant pink dress, she sent an annoyed look at Yang who was grinning at her. Just thinking of that annoying man was horrible especially considering that Cardin was just as amused. It was the first time the two were actually in agreement on something and she hated it; they were ganging up on her. Letting go of the fabric, she turned away from them in favor of looking for something else; something expensive and red. Ironwood was paying for their outfits to the party so she wanted to make his wallet suffer.
That man was so annoying. How could he ambush her with such a foolish test? She'd had no desire to get a Huntress license so soon but now she had one. The urge to kick him was almost overwhelming, it didn't help that he wasn't even slightly guilty or angry for her words, instead, he'd laughed. It was true that she should be thankful for having her license, but she couldn't think past the idea that he'd managed to catch her off guard. The Ironwood from the original timeline would never have allowed her to get her license early or even set up something so daring.
What really annoyed her was the fact his action was impressive. He didn't have to test her, but he did; nor had he given her a reason for doing so. It would be easier to move around as a Huntress than a student. The military was honor-bound to help her and having Ironwood as her backer meant she ranked above most soldiers. He'd basically given her a get out of jail free card, but why? He had to realize she wouldn't stay in Atlas. The man might be stubborn and paranoid, but he wasn't foolish; she just didn't understand what was going on in his head.
There was a possibility he was vying for her favor, but she didn't have enough power for something like that to be true. How could he possibly be confusing? He made her want to stab him and marry him all at once; well more likely have someone marry him. She wasn't really into stiff coat Atlassian military officers, she didn't know anyone that was.
"Miss Ruby."
"Ciel!"
Spinning on her heel, the reaper didn't hesitate to launch herself at the one person who hadn't been taking shots at her all morning. Wrapping her arms around the girl who stumbled at the sudden action she grinned. Hesitantly the older girl's hand hovered just above her back unsure at her superior's intentions. Ciel had been made her Aide while in Atlas and when she left the girl would be coming with her although she would be fully responsible for the girl's wellbeing. Not that she would ever allow anything to happen to the girl.
Ciel officially belonged to her; she would always take good care of those she cared for. Waiting until the older girl patted her back, she hugged Ciel tighter. The older girl wasn't used to affection like this but she didn't mind Ciel's frosty actions. It wasn't as if she wasn't used to being around cold individuals.
"Ma'am, I've booked the reservation you wanted," Ciel said softly. There was no point in correcting her formality; Ruby had already tried.
"Thanks," Ruby said brightly. Pulling away from the older girl she grabbed a dress from behind her and held it up asking, "What do you think of this dress?"
"For you Ma'am," she asked confused.
"No, for you."
"That's not necessary."
Raising an eyebrow at the older girl, she waited barely ten seconds for the girl to cave and take the dress. Watching her walk to try it on, Ruby turned her attention to Cardin who was laying on the couch in front of the window. Now that both Yang and Ciel were occupied she could take the time to ask him about Beacon and Adam. Catching his gaze, she smirked causing him to grin. Moving closer so they wouldn't be overheard, she sat down on the arm of the couch with a grace that she shouldn't have; especially not in the formal Atlas uniform that she was still forced to wear.
"What did you think of him," she asked just loud enough he could hear her.
Adam Taurus was not someone that he had any good feelings for, but the faunus was strong. Far stronger than most of the people that they had on their side. With Jaune and Pyrrha out of commission and Blake proving every horrible thing he'd thought about the faunus, Cardin knew that Ruby would need someone like Adam on her side. The man had been in complete control of his emotions up until the moment that Cardin used his semblance. By just that fact alone, it was likely that he held enormous mental fortitude, however, he'd also taken the care not to accidentally injure Blake.
Their fight might've been filled with emotions, but not once did the man make a move to kill her. Instead, he'd been careful with his movements in a way that reminded him of Ruby, and he'd cared about the cat. There was so much concern and anger focused at Blake that it would've been easy to leave it at that, but Cardin felt the genuine hurt that the faunus had toward the cat. Blake had hurt him enough that he wanted to return the favor. That was already a point in his favor, Cardin didn't like the kitty cat that much either at the moment.
His sword skills were nothing to scoff at either. In just that area he would be a good fit for the group Ruby was trying to form. From what he'd seen, the faunus could make a very good ally for his Ruby especially since none of them would be with her.
"He's strong, you should recruit him and drop Blake," he said bluntly. The words were true enough that he didn't even have to disguise his annoyance with the kitty cat. Seeing Ruby freeze, he could already tell she was going to try and argue with him, but he simply sighed saying, "He stopped himself from killing me, I don't know why, but the real issue was that Blake did nothing but stand there and watch. She's weak, cowardly, and doesn't deserve to stay by your side."
For only an instant he felt the pain she tried so hard to hide. It ticked him off.
Ruby was a bright, brilliant, ray of sadism and murder while Blake was a coward. They both knew that the cat leaving had hurt her, but Ruby refused to give up on the faunus. Her devotion to her loved ones was commendable but it was also unhealthy. Seeing her lips tilt into a smile as she reached down to run a hand through his hair, he almost let go of the issue.
"It's okay," she said softly. The fake smile on her face caused him to scoff; his brows drawing together in an expression of anger.
"No, it's not," he snapped. Catching her wrist, he ignored the way her fingers trembled. No one else would've noticed that she was even slightly upset not even her fool of a father. It was easy to forget that despite her reincarnation that Ruby was younger than him. Gritting his teeth so hard that she could hear it he said, "we're starting a revolution here; what use do we have for a cowardly cat?"
"I can't just stop caring about her."
He hated this.
It was always the same thing no matter how many times she got hurt for them no one noticed that she was tearing at the seams. He only knew because he could feel it. She was so angry that it basically ran in her veins only being kept in control by her iron will, yet it was almost overpowered by the pain that lay in wait. Eventually, she was going to break, he didn't want to see that happen, she was too bright to break apart. Eventually, she would get hurt leaving him to pick up the pieces or commit murder; probably both.
"Did you mean it, about Adam?"
"Yeah, I hate that he won, but I think... he'd be a good ally for you," he said. He didn't tell her that he thought Adam would fit her in ways that he hated to even consider, nor did he try and break the hold Blake had on her. Running his thumb over her hand he sighed before letting her go just before the other two returned.
(Schnee Gala)
She was considering committing murder, but the blue-haired fool in front of her was too stupid to notice. Keeping her narrow gaze on his throat, she knew that it would be easy to rip it out with her nails. The long blue dress she'd been forced to wear was just another annoying part of this gathering, but she pushed through it for her team. They were the only reason she was entertaining this idiot instead of killing him. Who came to a charity gala without knowing what it was for? The food wasn't even all that good. His ignorance was a mark on his family and breeding; she was willing to bet it would spread to his children as well. Truthfully, she'd be doing the world a favor if she killed him here and now. He didn't belong at her gala nor did he deserve the air he was breathing. Nora would've broken his legs.
"Now, Weiss doesn't kill the boy," Cardin scolded. Turning her attention to the boy walking toward her she raised an eyebrow at the uniform he was wearing. He'd marked himself as a bodyguard by simply dressing in his student uniform. Glancing over at the object of her anger he said, "he most likely doesn't even know what happened."
That was his way of calling out the boy for being a stuck-up noble prick; they both knew it. A darkly amused smile tugged at her lips as she rested a hand on her hip; the fact he was here meant some of the others might be too.
"That's no excuse," she said. Feeling just a bit vindictive she let the anger show in her voice making the boy step back as he was clued in on her rage. Cardin grinned knowing that she would've destroyed the kid if he hadn't shown up; she was their ice queen. Seeing the action, she rolled her eyes saying, "Oh yes, Cardin Winchester defender of the stupid. What are you even doing here?"
"I came with our reaper as guests of the general," he said simply. The confused boy looked between them only for his eyes to widen when Weiss gave a bright smile.
"Yang?"
Her tone was breathless as she twisted to look around the room with childlike eagerness. The expression made her look so much warmer than usual that Cardin was a bit afraid she might melt. Instead of answering he nodded which made it worse. Almost bouncing in place she searched for her girlfriend only to freeze at the sarcastic arrogant tone that reached their ears.
"If you think about it Vale had it coming," a woman stated sounding oddly pleased with how it all turned out.
It was only a moment, but Weiss could almost feel the rush of terror when Beacon was attacked come rushing back. The screams rang in her ears as blood ran off the tip of her blade in drops that made her feel sick. Digging her nails into her dress she tried to fight off the way her arms trembled. That woman had no idea what had happened. She'd been too busy in her ivory tower to pull her head out of her ass and realize that people were dead. The only thing that kept her from ripping apart the idiotic bitch was Cardin. He laid a gentle hand on her arm causing her to jolt as she remembered that he was here. Relaxing she took a deep breath trying to push back her emotions. Letting him lead her over to Ironwood and her father, she noticed the nod of respect he sent the General.
"Just wait, after all, Ruby's here," he told her getting confused looks from the Schnee men while Ironwood paled. Letting a vicious smile overtake him Cardin released Weiss and got ready to watch the show. Ruby was going to tear this bitch apart, and he was going to love every single moment of it.
"Mr. Winchester please tell me you didn't leave Miss. Rose alone here," Ironwood said sounding both amused and horrified. When Cardin nodded he groaned although he couldn't disguise his small smirk.
"Well now, it seems arrogance is common in Atlas."
Ruby's words silenced the room in a way that brought a taunting smirk to Cardin's lips; he could almost feel the temperature dropping as she sauntered from the crowd. The dark red long-sleeved dress clung to her curves pointing out every line of her body in a way that didn't match the innocent smile on her face. If he was being honest, the lacy black tights that he could see teasing his eyes from just behind the thigh-high slits in her dress completed the look in a way her silver heels just couldn't. She looked innocent and deadly all at once in a way that made people uncomfortable, him included.
Watching the woman stutter in an offended tone, the girl giggled and tilted her head. The feather in her hair tickled her neck for a moment but she didn't really mind. It was fun to see the woman so flustered. She was going to enjoy playing with her. If things got physical then she could use Petal to deal with the woman.
"Might I ask why you believe that miss," she asked. Keeping her voice light and innocent; she looked far from the demon her friends claimed her to be.
"They had no proper defenses so it was bound to happen eventually," the woman said as if Ruby was nothing more than a child. Narrowing her gaze and crossing her arms she snapped, "honestly if they were more like Atlas then none of this would have happened. Don't you agree with me, honey?"
Ruby watched her date laugh nervously before giggling. Her carefully disguised anger hidden by a smirk tugging on her lips, as she asked, "tell me did anyone here watch the video streamed during the fall of Beacon? If I remember correctly didn't Atlassian knights attack civilians. One could say that Atlas was more to blame then Vale."
She said the words with the tone of a happy child discussing what they wanted for Christmas, yet her eyes were an icy silver. Shivering suddenly, Weiss breathed out a sigh catching her brother's attention; Ruby was going to snap soon.
"That's not true," the woman snapped, "Vale was weak and should have protected itself better. Honestly, this was a long time coming if anything we'd all be much better off if everyone in that wretched combat school had burned!"
"Shit," Cardin mumbled wishing he had popcorn as he felt Ruby's anger skyrocket. Even the general beside him was a more than a bit angry at the woman; this was turning out to be a much more interesting show than he'd expected.
Gasping out a breath the woman had no time to react as Ruby stuck like a coiled snake. Nails pressing into the sides of the woman's throat she ignored the shocked sounds from the crowd as she gave a taunting grin. Tilting her head she didn't bother to glance at her companions as she tightened her grip slowly, it would be so easy to tear out her pretty little neck.
"It's too bad for you I didn't die at Beacon."
Her tone had changed completely leaving the aristocrats stunned as she jerked the woman closer with hate-filled silver eyes. Almost snarling she leaned up to whisper a single amusing threat to the woman who trembled. Waiting until she gained a wavering agreement, she released the woman allowing her to fall to her knees. Gazing down at the terrified woman she smirked before meeting Ironwood's eyes. The man was looking at her with a calculating gaze that made her want to pluck his eyes from his skull.
Turning her attention to her hand she frowned at the blood under her nails. Moving to wipe them off on her dress she blinked as Ciel caught her hand. Her Aide was dressed in an ice blue dress that almost matched the white gloves that reached over her elbows; she looked adorable. Watching the older girl pull out a napkin and begin to clean off her nails, she chuckled; the unamused glare that Ciel sent her didn't really help, if anything it made her laugh harder.
"Ma'am, don't get blood on your dress."
A small grin spread across Weiss's face as she moved to greet her future sister in law despite neither she nor Yang proposing. Stepping around her father she ignored his heated gaze as she stalked forward with her heels clicking against the clean floor.
"Don't be silly Ciel, it wouldn't be Ruby if she wasn't covered in someone's blood," she said. The words caused some of the aristocrats to gape at her as if she was some kind of degenerate.
"Hey Weiss... wait, I'm not usually covered in blood."
The fact she had to blink and think about if the heiress was correct was enough to make Cardin burst into laughter.
"No I suppose you have a point," Weiss conceded with an amused smirk. Reaching out to tap the younger girl on the nose she said, "usually you're the only one bleeding."
It was said as a joke, but Weiss's eyes darkened. She knew this wasn't the best place to realize that Ruby was always throwing herself into danger, but it was all she could think about now. How many times had she seen the younger girl covered in blood? It was too many for comfort, part of her worried that one day Ruby would get hurt in a way that she couldn't heal from. On that day hell would be rained down on those responsible.
"Weiss!"
Jolting, she twisted her eyes finding the loving gaze of her golden-haired dragon as the girl rushed toward her. It was only for an instant, but her eyes drifted down to the just barely exposed chest of her girlfriend who wore a dress bordering between classy and seductive. Her mouth felt dry as she felt a bit discomfort for letting others see her Yang in this dress; she could bet the blonde would look better out of it. Taking a breath to compose herself she smiled before realizing that her girlfriend wasn't going to stop.
"Ya-"
Ruby giggled at the shocked slightly panicked sound that left Weiss's lips seconds before Yang was pulling her into a kiss. Watching the heiress's eyes widen she was slightly impressed with how quickly the white-haired girl lowered her guard and leaned into the kiss. Since it was Yang, she wasn't all that surprised when the kiss turned more heated than sweet; rolling her eyes she looked toward Weiss's shocked family.
Her father had an expression of anger and disgust, yet her brother seemed to be carved from ice. It was kind of adorable how he tried to hide the smirk just tugging at his lips, but she could see the pleased glint in his gaze. It was likely he was hoping Weiss would get disowned for the stunt and he would become the heir, cute. Pulling her hand from Ciel's gently she met Cardin's gaze as he stepped forward to block Jacques from pulling the two girls apart. The sudden protective glow in his eyes was enough to bring a rare genuine smile to her face.
"Please don't screw each other," he said causing them to break apart almost instantly, the dark red flush to Weiss's face was the total opposite of the grin Yang wore.
She loved her sister. She was happy for her sister; that was the truth, so why did she suddenly feel such a sour feeling in her chest. Keeping a smile on her face she leaned toward them saying, "please don't make me an aunt so soon."
"That's not possible," Weiss mumbled before she could stop herself. The fact she slammed a hand over her mouth seconds later caused Ruby to break into uncontrolled laughter.
"I'm sure Atlas could find a way that is if the aristocrats could get their heads out of their asses," Cardin mocked throwing a glare at their audience. The fact they bristled was enough to make him chuckle. It was so much fun playing with people who couldn't fight back.
"They are ignorant people, with their childish unimportant issues, and they were starting to get annoying, honestly it's as if they actually think they matter," she said causing her father to growl at the embarrassment she was heaping onto the Schnee name. Part of her was pleased to take shots at the nobility.
Chuckling Cardin took a moment to glance at their patron who seemed ready to retire. It was no doubt that the man was almost fully prepared to walk away and leave them to their own devices, however, he was also smart enough to know that that could lead to disaster. He had after all invited snakes into his kingdom without hesitation.
"Girls you ready to leave," Cardin asked deciding to take mercy on the man. The slightly grateful look Ironwood sent him was enough to know he wouldn't be put through torture when training started.
"Are you implying you aren't having fun, Mr. master manipulator," Weiss accused shocking her father and brother. They'd never seen her so open; for a moment Whitely felt a bit disappointed at that fact. Watching her lace her arm around the blonde's he could see the genuine love in her eyes when she gazed at the other girl.
"Oh I am but our dear general looks ready to shoot everyone," he pointed out. Glancing at the general, Ruby pouted a bit but could concede his point. It wouldn't do to have Ironwood decide that it was time to snap. Taking the time to glance around the room with a mocking smirk she bowed to the aristocrats who actually flinched away from her just a bit.
"Let's go then, our teams are waiting," she ordered as she straightened. There was only so much fun she could get from making them panic. Watching her sister and Weiss almost rush from the room she had to wonder if they were that eager to jump into bed. Stalking through the crowd she winked at Ironwood as she passed him before allowing Cardin and Ciel to head back to the cars without her. Standing outside the door she waited on the general who was being delayed by the foolish woman who'd finally managed to find her voice again.
"Aren't you going to arrest them," the blonde woman demanded while glaring at Ironwood. The man sighed with more exhaustion than he should feel.
"Why would I arrest the only sane people in the room," he asked unable to resist mocking the woman. As she stood there gaping in shock, he followed the kids from the room. He ignored the part of him that shriveled and died when he called Ruby's group sane; they really weren't but it was better than Atlas Aristocrats.
He hated these stuck-up aristocratic parties and the politics they exuded, but more he hated the fact everyone was so weak. The battlefield was a much better place to resolve issues than the ballroom. Seeing the girl leaning against the wall, he frowned for only an instant before reaching out to offer his hand; the amused look she gave him didn't help at all. He was starting to see that Ruby was a person that thrived in the chaos, it would've been terrifying if she was born into nobility. Even with only his backing, she was able to turn the aristocrats into nothing but a swarm of bees.
Even walking beside, him she didn't seem like more than just a child; how terrifying that someone so unassuming could be so dangerous. All of the children he'd taken under his wing were dangerous, however, she would be the only one leaving Atlas. She would be vulnerable, alone, he wouldn't be able to protect her the way he would protect the others. Just with Qrow, she might not be safe, it was why he was considering sending an escort when she left for Menagerie. Maybe he could send one or two of the Ace Ops with her, Marrow might be the right choice since he was a faunus. Perhaps he could turn it into an official Atlas delegation to talk about the current situation considering the White Fang.
With the current state of the Kingdom along with the fact Menagerie was an island of faunus it would be easy to see them as the enemy. Having Ruby accompany a delegation would give her diplomatic immunity, but it would also afford her more protection. She was still a child who had no idea how to react to the world around her, it was likely she might start a fight with some of the more racist faunus. He feared what would happen if she did get into a fight on the island.
As a human, it was possible they would discriminate and try to harm her for defending herself. Not to mention that she had his backing here in Atlas; there were bound to be rumors about that flowing around by the end of the night. Having Robyn and her team test Ruby might've caused more harm than good considering how it would be seen by the council, but he didn't regret it. She was a bright girl, having a Huntress License would do her good, especially considering how much of a trouble magnet she was.
"Looks like they took off," she said once they reached the courtyard. Eyeing the fact the second car had vanished she seemed more amused than anything else.
"True."
The laugh that left her lips was more sadistic than innocent as she led him to the car. She didn't even hesitate at the idea of them leaving her behind nor did she seem to disapprove. In fact, it was hard to notice her disapproving of anything they did. Her bright silver eyes matched the stars above them in a way that reminded him of her mother.
He'd only met Summer once, it was on a mission for Ozpin. The proof that he needed to put his faith in the man was provided by her turning a leviathan into stone. Summer Rose...just what would she think of him now for becoming her daughter's patron? He had no doubt that woman might have lived if she'd refused Ozpin's hand, however, that wasn't something he was able to tell her daughter. At most, Ruby was her mother's daughter, yet he had to wonder if she would die the same way. Looking at the girl sitting across from him, he noticed the concealed fascination she had with his kingdom.
"Don't look so worried, honestly you're just like Cardin," she teased as she finally turned her eyes away from the window. The moonlight shining through the window was all the light provided, considering how late it was that wasn't surprising. His driver had politely raised the soundproof glass the second they entered the car leaving them to talk in complete privacy. In a car that could fit four people it was a bit strange to only have the two of them.
"Smart boy," he said causing her to laugh.
"He is brilliant."
The agreement was genuine if the way her eyes softened was any indication. He'd met many soldiers who fought for their country, honor, or their friends; she was one of those he couldn't figure out at all. Her sadism was in direct contrast with how she treated her loved ones; was one of them faked or was she simply unstable?
"I'll be sending a delegation to Menagerie with you, please don't cause them too much trouble."
(Doubts)
Maybe it was the cold Atlas air, but she couldn't help but feel strange, almost as if she was being watched by someone. Still, she didn't care enough to change who she was. Sitting beside her partner's bed, she found herself not caring if anyone saw her at this moment. The ever-present smile was gone from her lips as was the joy she found in causing chaos. If she was being honest with herself, this was what she feared the most; being helpless to protect her teammates.
She wanted the world, that wasn't a lie, but she wanted to protect the people she loved even more. They would never understand why she made the choice to allow Beacon to fall, nor would they agree with the methods she would employ to ensure a position of power. Jaune and Pyrrha were too kindhearted to see the darkness in the world unless it slapped them in the face, she never wanted that to happen. She wanted them to remain the bright lights that guided her home for as long as they lived.
For them...she would die for them, so why couldn't she protect them? Why was it so hard to breathe when she looked at Pyrrha? Why did Jaune bring such pain to her heart when he met her eyes? No, she already knew the answer to all those questions. Caring about them hurt, but she'd already known that when she decided to become a part of their lives. Love hurts, it was a lesson she would never forget, nor would she shy away from the pain. She would always suffer to keep them safe.
The quick sound of footsteps caught her attention, but she almost ignored them. Taking a breath, she looked up at Jaune as he entered the room; his cool blue eyes caught her own letting her see the knowing glint in his gaze. Her puppy knew something.
"Ruby, can we talk?"
His words were icy just like his gaze. This wasn't the same boy who grounded her back at Beacon nor was it the one who whined during training. Jaune had taken his first steps into becoming the knight that desired to be, she was proud of him. Eventually, he wouldn't even need her anymore.
"Of course," she said brightly as if she hadn't felt the sting of tears only a moment ago. She would always have time to talk to him.
"Not here."
That was surprising but she didn't argue. Standing slowly, she motioned for him to lead the way; the small, fake, smile on her face was the only hint that she knew this might not end well. Trailing after her puppy, she made no move to take control of the situation. This was Jaune, he would not hurt her so why did she feel something dark twisting around her heart. Every instinct was crying for her to be careful although she had no idea why. Perhaps he was finally coming into his own as an Arc.
She wasn't ashamed to say that she'd done research on the Arc family once Jaune joined her team. They were knight and soldiers since the beginning of Vale none of them were even remotely close to being cowards. He'd been right that they were considered heroes in Vale, however, they were also warriors. The amount of blood on the Arc name was tremendous, she doubted that Jaune knew the full truth of his family. One day he would inherit all the sins of his family along with the power they carried; she wondered if he would call himself a hero when that day came.
The courtyard he led her to had a fountain that sparkled in the moonlight. Stepping past him to run a hand through the water she smiled a bit at how cold it was. Everything in Atlas was cold, but she didn't exactly dislike it anymore. It was a bit refreshing to have something so beautiful be so frozen. This Kingdom really wasn't meant for someone like her.
"Did you know that Beacon would be attacked?"
His question wasn't what she was expecting and when she turned, she couldn't understand what the look in his eyes meant. Jaune was a strategist, he would've been able to look back and see the calculations and decisions she'd made as preparations. If he suspected her, then it was simple for him to consider everything she'd done as suspicious and come to the conclusion that she'd known about the attack. He really was such a clever puppy.
If she told the truth, would he hate her?
If she told a lie, would he see through it?
Either way, there was a chance she might lose him. It would be easier to lie, yet...
"I did," she said softly. The way his eyes widened meant he hadn't expected her to tell the truth.
"You warned us against Ozpin. You cozied up to Cinder. You went after Roman who then vanished. Cardin saved Blake during the attack," he stated. Every word brought him closer to her but she didn't back away. This was Jaune he wouldn't hurt her. The way cold anger swirled in his blue eyes should've terrified her, but it didn't. She still didn't react as he reached out to close his fist around the collar of her uniform jacket. His action didn't frighten her at all but she felt terrified when he asked, "was Pyrrha getting hurt part of your plan too?"
Her plan was for them to be safe. She would never allow them to get hurt, how could he even ask her that? She'd done everything short of siding with Ozpin to protect them; she'd bled for them. How did it even make sense that she would allow this to happen to Pyrrha? She wanted to snap that it wasn't her fault, but something kept the words from forming. What if it was her fault? She might've been able to do so much more to keep them safe. He could be right that this was all her fault instead of Ozpin's.
"You should leave Ruby," he said taking her silence as confirmation. Releasing her before he did something foolish, he turned away from his shocked leader who stood in total silence.
Watching him walk away, she wanted to call out, yet her mouth wouldn't move. Instead, she sat down on the edge of the fountain before burying her face in her hands. It was okay if he hated her now. It was okay if he didn't want to be around her. She could keep telling herself that, but it didn't matter; none of it was true. She'd lived this life in order to become something yet right now it felt like she was back in that cellar drowning in her own fear and despair. She could rub the tears from her eyes and bit her lip to keep silent but that didn't stop her from sobbing, nor did it hide the truth from her. Jaune hated her and nothing was okay.
Hi guys, so this was a thing, what did you guy's think of the chapter. Anyway, Ruby's suffering has only just begun; I have way to much fun making my characters suffer. Moving on next chapter is Ruby's departure from Atlas then we only have one intermediate chapter before the Menagerie chapters begin. Also, I don't hate Blake, just throwing that out there for the future. Adam also has a part coming up soon; I think it's in the intermediate chapter.
