Four months later...

Meredith looked out the window before she looked back in the mirror once more. Her honey colored hair was curled in loose curls and the front pulled back and pinned to her scalp. Her ivory dress was simple, just simple straps with satin all the way down to cover her feet. It was tight around her chest and waist and flowed out just a bit from the hips down. She didn't want a huge, fancy, extravagant dress, just something that flattered her curves. She was alone in her bedroom as she looked back and forth. She could see the whole wedding set up on the cliff that overlooked the water from the distance. It was her favorite view on the whole property so it was only fitting they decided to get married there.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the door opening and a tiny girl with brown curls fixed on the top of her head was accompanied by her other two daughters. All three girls had matching lavender colored dresses, Scarlett's blonde hair had been curled and pinned with flowers while Zoe's hair was also curled but she had a white flowered headband across her head.

"My favorite girls," Meredith smiled big as she lifted Elliana into her arms and place a kiss on her cheek.

"Mama you look so pretty!" Scarlett admired her mother.

"Yeah mama, you could be a princess if you had a crown and a bigger dress," Zoe giggled.

"Thank you girls, have you seen your aunt Amelia?"

"No, but we will go find her!" The girls were quick to race out, with Elliana toddling behind her.

"You got your hands full," a voice came from the door. Meredith was shocked when she seen the person standing there.

"Cristina!" Meredith began to tear up as she saw her person there. She had no idea Cristina was coming, they hadn't spoke much at all.

"I couldn't miss my person getting married, again!" Cristina smiled as she went over and hugged Meredith. Cristina wasn't a hugger, she didn't hug at all. Meredith could count the times she and Cristina had showed physical affection and it wasn't a lot.

"How did you?" Meredith asked as she was interrupted.

"Guilty," Lexie spoke from the door.

"Lex!" Meredith gasped.

"I can keep a secret thank you," Lexie laughed.

"Plus who's a bride without a maid of honor?" Cristina held out the dress Lexie had shipped to her.

"We were just not going to have one," Meredith had tears filling her eyes. This was the best surprise she could have hoped for.

"I couldn't miss this Mer. I mean you are about to marry McDreamy," Cristina laughed.

"Thank you Lex. You need to get ready!" Meredith said as she hurried her friend along with getting ready. The ceremony was about to start, nervous was an understatement. She felt her stomach do flips but she was excited to marry him.

"Ok, we ready?" Amelia huffed, she was extremely pregnant, she could give birth any day now.

"Yep," Meredith breathed deeply, smiling at the three women who surrounded her. They walked down the stairs where Mark and Owen stood with the children.

"Why don't you boys look handsome," Meredith smiled as she leaned down and kissed both of her sons.

"You looks stunning Mer," Mark commented.

"Thanks Markie," she smiled.

"Alright, let's get this show on the road," Lexie smiled. Meredith peaked out the window to see everyone she loved and who always supported her, missing a few faces. Richard was sitting in the front row, the smile on his face was uncanny. He was sitting next to Adele, she had gotten progressively worse and probably didn't know where she was now. They all walked out of the house to the giant bushes that they were going to be walking around. First went Cristina and Mark, being the best man and Maid of Honor. Owen and Amelia walked out together as the music was playing, Meredith was nervous.

"You're gonna do great mama, don't trip!" Zoe giggled as the five children all walked together, the oh's and ash's came from the crowd. It got silent as the music played to signify Meredith's turn to walk. She froze for a second, looking at her sister.

"You got this," Lexie said, reassuring her as she hooked her arm around Meredith's. She had asked Lexie to walk her down the isle, she was the closest family she had and it meant a lot to her to have someone special give her away.

"I'm ready," Meredith said nervously as she took one last breath before she turned the corner. She looked at Derek, standing there with their five children. He was in awe, his eyes lit up as he saw her and a smile crept on his face. She couldn't help but smile back and it felt like the two of there were the only ones in the world as Lexie guided her down the isle. Lexie stopped and allowed Derek to take her hand. Miranda Bailey had agreed to stand up and officiate the wedding, she was the one to thank for bringing Derek to Seattle. She was her teacher and had become her friend over the years.

"Please be seated," Bailey said as she cleared her throat before she started, "so I've never done this before but when Meredith and Derek asked me to, I was honored. I have watched these two blossom into such a beautiful couple. I like to think I'm a little to blame for that since Derek came to me and asked me if I had an opening. I didn't know much about the man but he seemed genuinely excited when I told him about the position. I knew he'd be a perfect fit and boy was I right."

"Today is a celebration. A celebration of love, of commitment, of friendship, of family, and of two people who are in it for forever. You don't have to have a ceremony to have a marriage. And when you think about it, the whole thing is kind of weird, right? You're standing here, looking fancy, holding flowers, and being stared at by pretty much everyone who has meant anything to you. We have thousands of important moments that happen throughout our lives, but this one is regarded as one so critical, we acknowledge its special status by sharing it with others. Why this moment? Because despite all of our differences, love is what we all share. It's the great unifier — our one universal truth. That no matter who we are, where we've come from, what we believe, we know this one thing: love is what we're doing right. That's why you both are standing here. That's why you all are here to watch them stand up here. We have all loved in our lifetimes, and for these two to be so lucky and not find one great love, but two. In this moment, we're reminded that the ability to love is the very best part of our humanity," Bailey spoke the words that she had written herself. Meredith couldn't hold back the few tears that fell from her eyes. She looked deeply into Derek's who just reached up with a smile and wiped the tears that fell.

"All of us here today have our own love stories. Some are short, others long. Some are yet unwritten, while others are just getting to the good part. There are chapters in all of our stories that are sad but the good always outweighs the bad, especially when I see the love that these two share. And that brings them here. Now is a time to pause, look back, and smile at all the moments that brought them here. And a time to look ahead at all the moments that are still to come. I'm here — we're all here — because we want those moments for you. We're here to hope with you, to support you, to be proud of you, and to remind you that love isn't happily ever after, love is the experience of writing your story. It's not one moment — not even this moment. It's every moment. Big ones like saying "I love you," moving in together, getting engaged, and having babies while joining two families into one, but mostly a million little ones that come in between the big moments. Falling asleep next to one another, making dinner together or in this case, Derek making dinner while Meredith thinks she helping. It's spending holidays with your families, celebrating after a successful surgery, and managing to squeeze in some alone time as parents to five children. These everyday moments fuse together into one big experience. And even though this experience is so incredible, words fail us when we try and explain it. That's just the way it is with love — it's meant to be felt, not described," Miranda said, she had begun to tear up reading her own words.

"Now before we go any further, I was asked by two wonderful little girls to read a letter to their new parents," Bailey said as she reached out and took a letter from each girl.

"Did you know about this?" Meredith whispered to Derek.

"No," he shook his head.

"Dear Mama, me and Scarlett came up with this idea to thank you and my dad for bringing us together as a family. I watched all my other cousins have big happy families and I always wanted that. It was always just me and daddy. Now I have the family I always wanted, and even more than I ever wanted with Ellie and Elliot. Thank you for being such a good mama and always helping me with my homework and giving me a mom I always wanted. Love Zoe," Bailey had to wipe the tears in her eyes as she paused.

"Zoe, thank you. I'm so happy your daddy gave me the chance to be your mom," Meredith tried to hold back the tears as she leaned down and hugged her.

"And there is one to Derek as well," Bailey said as she turned to the second page, "Dear Derek, I know it was hard at first. My mommy is very stubborn as my daddy use to say. I was very happy when you started dating my mommy, it meant me and CJ were going to have a daddy again and even though we miss him very much, we are both glad that you are the best second dad in the whole wide world. Love Scarlett and CJ."

"Scar," Derek smiled and shook his head.

"Thank you for being our dad forever," Scarlett was crying a bit as she hugged him.

"Ok, ok. So now that we have done that. I think it's about time we hear the vows that you each have decided to write for each other," Bailey had to wiped her eyes once more, "Derek you go first."

"Meredith. There are so many words I could say to you and the first thing that comes to mind the very first day that we met. You were messy and exciting, you were stubborn and clumsy. I knew the very first moment I saw you, you took my breath away and I knew we were meant to be together for all of our days. You have become my lover, my companion, and my best friend. There's no one else I'd want to build a life with. I get to have you by my side, my love, my wife, and an amazing mother to our five children. Today, I promise to be your navigator and sidekick in all of life's adventures. I promise to be your best friend and your husband. I promise to love you in every way I know how and to support you in everything you do. I will stand by your side through sickness and in health for the rest of my life. I love you Meredith Grey and I can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together," he said as he looked deeply into his eyes. He never once broke eye contact as he said the words to her. She felt the tears start to fall as the words fell from his lips.

"That was beautiful Derek, who knew you could be such a romantic," Bailey joked and everyone chuckled through their tears, "Meredith it's your turn."

"I wanted to start by saying that was beautiful Derek and I don't think mine will even begin to compare to that. From the moment we met, there was just something about you that drew me to you. I think it's the hair," she chuckled as she looked at him, "I was terrified to love you in such a deep way that I do. I never thought I would find someone to love my kids as much as I do but you prove to me every day that even though Scarlett and CJ may not have your blood but they are now apart of your heart. I love the love you have for them and for all of our children. You make me want to be a better mother, surgeon, and person. You love me in such a deep way and complete me in ways I never knew possible. From this day forth, I promise to listen to you and learn from you, to support you and accept your support. I will celebrate your successes and mourn your losses as though they were my own. I will love you for the rest of my life."

"Wow, I have never seen two people so in love as I stand here and watch you two. Now with the vows being said, I think it's time for the rings," Bailey said, Cristina and Mark handed each of them their rings.

"Your wedding ring are the outward and visible sign of the inward and invisible bond which already unites you two hearts in love. Derek, place the ring on Meredith's finger and repeat after me," she instructed and he did so as he spoke the words she spoke.

"I give you this ring. Wear it with love and joy. As this ring has no end, it is a symbol that my love for you is forever."

"Now Meredith, place the ring on Derek's finger and repeat after me," she instructed and Meredith did the same to him.

"I give you this ring. Wear it with love and joy. As this ring has no end, it is a symbol that my love for you is forever."

"And so now by the power of the internet invested in me by the state of Washington. I now pronounce you husband and wife. Derek you may now kiss your bride," Bailey smiled as he wasted no time, taking her face into his hands as he placed a long, deep kiss on her lips. Everyone cheered loudly and clapped as the pair pulled away slightly, still lost in the moment.

"We're married," Meredith whispered to him.

"You are now my wife," he smiled. He took her hand, reaching out and picking Elliot up as Meredith picked up Elliana. Scarlett and CJ grabbed each other's hands and went to stand beside Meredith while Zoe stood on the other side of Derek. The seven of them walked as a family back down the isle as everyone was standing and watching them with the biggest smile on their faces. Meredith could never imagined herself being married again but this was what she never knew she wanted so badly. She had found a love that was like no other, one that proved real love does exist with happily ever after's.
