In the battle in space, the Dark Mark is no longer firing, lest they destroy their own cruisers. However, the Ministry cruisers fire on the DA brooms and cruisers.
Amidst the battle, one of the DA pilots, Silas Crump, is visited from beyond by his late lover Eloise Mintumble. Using her powers to manipulate time, Eloise takes Silas back to the time and place where they first met ― the Leaky Cauldron on Surrey.
Eloise. Golgomath is dead.
Silas. How . . . ?
Eloise. Strangled on his sand ship. A human slave girl, of all things. Used her own chains. Diagon Alley is in flames. No one knows who is in control.
Silas. If Golgomath is dead, then Tibet . . . Tibet has already been evacuated.
Eloise. That's right.
Silas. But then . . . you're dead.
Eloise. Do I feel dead?
Silas searches with confusion, then he remembers the events which occurred the first time he was here.
Silas. The golden droid will come in soon. And then the golden droid will leave again.
Eloise. And what of you, this time? Will you choose to leave as well?
Silas. The Magic. The Magic is with me, isn't it?
Eloise. [smiles] The Magic is within everything.
Silas. But here and now, in this pub . . . in the trenches of Tibet, or falling toward some nameless moon of the Forbidden Forest . . . The Magic binds it all.
In the illusion of the pub, the Erkling Poliakoff looks over as Harry, Sirius, and the droids enter.
Eloise. Of course.
Silas. This time, when the golden droid leaves, I can leave too, can't I?
Eloise. That choice was yours when we first met. Nothing has changed.
Silas realizes now that Eloise, due to her love for him, has given him a second chance. Taken back to that day four years prior, the wolfman now has the option of venturing into the streets of Diagon Alley, his life returned as it was before he became involved with the DA.
Silas turns and watches as Percy and Hedwig are forced out of the pub. Without hesitation, he turns back to Eloise.
Silas. I don't want to leave you.
Eloise. Knowing all that you know? Knowing with certainty what lies ahead?
Silas takes her hand.
Silas. Sometimes choice is an illusion.
As Eloise's spirit fades, Silas is returned to the intense battle. Ministry brooms angle toward a DA cruiser. One such Ministry fighter crashes against the side of a cruiser and disintegrates.
Dean. Watch out. Squad at .06.
McLaggen. I'm on it, Gold Leader.
Lee destroys one of the Ministry brooms.
Neville. Good shot, Red Two.
Dean. Increase power on the front Shield Charms. We're going in.
Neville. I'm right with you. Close up formations, team.
The DA fighters dive for the Prince.
Dean. Starting attack run on the main power tree.
Bradley. I copy. Moving into position.
Fred. Stay clear of their front batteries.
Bradley. It's a heavy fire zone down there.
Fred. I'm in range.
Neville. She's hurt bad on the left of the tower. Concentrate on that side.
Fred. Right with you.
Bradley. I'm losing power.
Fred. Get clear. You're going to blow.
Bradley is hit by enemy fire and is destroyed. However, his sacrifice permits Dean, Fred, and Neville to do their jobs.
Thanks.
Neville. That opens it up for us. Cut over. The power reactors are just inside that cargo bay.
Dean. Follow me.
Dean, Neville, and Fred target the Prince's jamming systems.
Direct hit.
Fred. There she goes.
Neville. Pull up, pull up.
The tower explodes, neutralizing the Ministry's jamming; though Neville and Dean escape, Fred is killed.
Meanwhile, Silas's broom is hit by enemy fire, sending him spiraling toward the surface of the Forbidden Forest.
Murcus. The jamming has stopped. We have a reading on the shield.
Dean. Is it still up?
Murcus. I'm afraid so. It looks like General Weasley's unit didn't make it.
Dean. Until they've destroyed our last broom, there's still hope.
Gornuk. Dzhng zhng.
Dean. I see 'em. We're sure in the middle of it now. Come on, Ron, old buddy. Don't let me down.
Meanwhile, on the surface of the Forbidden Forest, Ron has hijacked a Ministry walker and, under the guise of pilot Avery, contacts the Ministry officers within the bunker: Nott, Morcott, Midgen, Zabini, and Wakefield.
Ron. [as Avery] It's over, Commander. The Army has been routed. They're fleeing into the woods. We need reinforcements to continue the pursuit.
Nott. Send three squads to help. Open the back door.
Wakefield nods.
Wakefield. Sir.
Wakefield sets off.
Nott. [to Morcott] Open the back door.
The squads head out only to be met by overwhelming forces of centaurs and members of the DA strike team.
Ron stands in front of the bunker and shrugs.
The strike team enters the bunker, planting explosives.
Ron. Throw me another charge.
Hagrid tosses Ron a charge.
Hagrid. [howls]
As Ron plants the charge on the ceiling, Snape continues searching for Harry.
Snape. You cannot hide forever, Harry.
Harry's Voice. You'll have to come in and get me.
Snape. I will not give you the advantage that easily.
Harry's Voice. I wish no advantage, Father. I will not fight you. Here. Take my weapon.
Harry places his lightwand on the ground and rolls it toward Snape. The Death Eater clips the lightwand to his belt.
[aside] I realize this may be my end. But so be it. I will not use darkness to fight darkness. Perhaps it will be left to Hermione, after all, to carry on this struggle, without me. Perhaps she will know a way I don't know. Perhaps she can find a path. For now, though, I can see only two paths . . . and one is into Darkness, and one is not.
Snape probes Harry's mind, detecting doubt, remorse, regret, abandonment, pain ― and little of it related to the Death Eaters, but rather to those placed in the Forbidden Forest.
Snape. [aside] Ah, yes. The Dark Forest, where his friends will soon die. Harry will learn soon enough. Friendship is different among the Death Eaters . . . a different thing altogether. [to Harry] Give yourself to the dark side. It is the only way you can save your friends. Yes, your thoughts betray you, son. Your feelings for them are strong. Especially for . . .
Snape's voice trails off as he searches Harry's mind. The Auror attempts to block his mind from thoughts of Hermione, but it is no avail. He knows now that Hermione has been wounded, and concern for her complicates any attempt to shield his mind.
At the same time, Harry detects Snape's intrusion within his mind.
Harry. No!
Snape. Sister. So you have a twin sister. Your feelings have now betrayed her, too. Sirius was wise to hide her from me. Now his failure is complete. [smiles] If you will not turn to the dark side, then perhaps she will.
Using the Magic, Harry reclaims his lightwand. He activates the emerald blade and attacks Snape.
Harry. Never!
They duel.
With Harry on the offensive, the duel is far more aggressive than their previous one on West Ham, aligning closer to the furious duel Snape engaged against Sirius Black on Fiendfyre over two decades prior.
Harry angrily defeats Snape, slicing off both of his arms.
Voldemort climbs down the steps, cackling.
Voldemort. Good! Kill him.
Harry looks over at Voldemort.
Your hate has made you powerful. Now fulfill your destiny and take your father's place at my side.
Harry glances at his prosthetic arm, then at Snape's prosthetic arms he'd sliced off.
Harry. [aside] This is darkness. And it is the darkness I hate. Not my father, not even the Dark Lord. But the darkness in them. In them, and in myself. And the only way to destroy the darkness is to renounce it . . . for good and all.
He deactivates his lightwand.
[to Voldemort] Never.
He tosses his lightwand aside.
I'll never turn to the dark side. You've failed, Riddle. I am an Auror, like my father before me.
Voldemort. So be it, Auror.
Elsewhere, with the explosives charges, Ron leads his strike team out of the bunker.
Ron. Move. Move. Move.
They jump back and watch, as the bunker explodes. As a result, the Shield Charm around the Dark Mark flickers and fades. The DA fleet above the moon is now free to engage with the Dark Mark.
For Silas, this occurs too little too late, for there is nothing to prevent his fighter's descent into the Forbidden Forest.
Murcus. The Shield Charm is down. Commence attack on the Dark Mark's main reactor.
Dean. We're on our way. Red Group, Gold Group, Blue Squad, all fighters follow me. [laughs] Told you they'd do it.
Gornuk joins in Dean's laughter.
That's my man, Ron. Now it's my turn.
The DA fleet moves in to attack the Dark Mark.
Exit all.
