Chapter 42
CALLIE'S P.O.V
"Babe, are you ready yet? Teddy and Tim will be here in a few." I ask, walking into the bedroom. It's been a few days since we found out we were having another baby, so we decided to invite Tim and Teddy over to have dinner with us so we could tell them the news. We also wanted to see if they would stand up for us when we got married in April. We decided to get married a lot sooner than we had planned.
"Yeah, I'm just about done." She says, checking herself in the mirror.
"Well well, don't you look hot," I tell her.
"Yeah, yeah." She says with a smile. "You have to say that, I'm going to be your wife in a few weeks.
"Even if you weren't, you still look hot," I say, wrapping my arms around her.
"I'm sorry for the way I reacted the other day." She tells me.
"It's fine. You were in shock. So I understand."
"I was. I still am. I mean, Noah is only 5 months old. If I were to guess, I'd say we may be due about October or November." She tells me. "Which will put him about 13 months old when the new baby gets here."
"How did you react when you found out about Noah?" I ask, in a serious tone.
"Not very well." She says. "Honestly, I was a little upset about it. I mean, I was 18, just starting college, you know."
"Yeah, I get that."
"But here we are again, having another one. Two kids by 21."
"Actually, 20. But who's counting right?" I say with a laugh. We were interrupted by the sound of the doorbell. "I'll get it." Placing a peck on her temple, I made my way out of the bedroom.
"Hey guys," I say, greeting Tim and Teddy. "Come on in." I stepped aside so they could enter the apartment.
"Where's Arizona?" Tim asks. Just that time, Arizona comes walking into the room.
"I'm right here." She says to them. She pulls Teddy and her brother both in for a hug. "Hey."
"How are you doing? Haven't really seen much of you since you and Callie got into that argument."
"Yeah, let's not talk about that." She tells him. "Come on, let's eat. I'm starving."
"Alright, what's the big news?" Teddy asks as I clear the table.
"Well.." Arizona starts, "Callie and I were wondering if you would be willing to stand up for us. We're getting married."
"Of Course we would, right Tim?" Teddy answers.
"Right. It's still sometime next year right?" He asks.
"Actually, we're doing it in April." She tells him.
"Wait, this April?" He wasn't so sure if he heard us right.
"Yeah. As in this April," I tell him.
"Why so quick. I thought you guys decided on waiting until next year?" I could see Teddy studying Arizona. Just by the look on her face. I just stood there, waiting for Arizona to tell them.
"Well," she says, clearing her throat. "We did decide on that, but we just thought, that maybe..well maybe..we c-c-could do it sooner." She stutters. Teddy turns and looks at me.
"What's going on? Is something wrong?" Her face turning into a frown.
"No, nothings wrong." I tell her, "We just decided that it would be best...Ugh, come on Arizona. Help me out."
"We're pregnant." She says, with a full dimple smile definitely showing. The room fell silent for the longest time. I don't think they expected us to come out with that kind of news.
"Teddy," Arizona says, waving her hand in front of her face. "Hello?"
"I'm sorry, Zo. Could you repeat that? I don't think I heard you correctly."
Laughing at Teddy's reaction, I spoke up, "She's pregnant."
"Oh my god." was all Tim could say. A smile was beginning to form on Teddy's face now.
"Seriously? You're not just saying this because we're expecting right?"
"We are dead serious." Arizona states. "We just found out a few days ago."
"Oh my god," Tim says again.
"I think they took that pretty well," I say as we climb into bed.
"Yeah, I guess." She says, "It definitely floored them. That's for sure."
"Yeah, well you reacted the same way. But only you asked how the hell it happened." I say, laughing at the memory of her reaction at the Drs. Office. "Don't forget to call Dr. Capshaw's office tomorrow, so we can set up our 8-week ultrasound."
"I won't We still have less than 3 weeks to do that, Calliope." Just as she was about to get comfortable, Noah's cries comes through the baby monitor.
"I'll get him," I tell her. I got up from my side of the bed to check on him. A moment later, I returned to the room, with Noah in my arms. "Mommy, someone wants cuddles."
She sat up and took Noah from me. "Are we sure we can handle two kids under 2?"
"There's two of us, we can handle it," I tell her. "Are you having second thoughts?"
"No, I was just wondering. I mean, I know there are two of us, but Noah is only going to a little over a year by the time this next one gets here. It's going to be a lot. Plus with working. It's going to be a lot." Hearing her concerns, I slide myself closer to her, wrapping my left arm around her shoulders, pulling her and Noah close to me.
"We're going to be fine," I say, assuring her.
*Sorry, I made this one a little short. Think they can handle two babies? More surprises to come.*
