Robby pov
When I make it to the post, Miller and Monroe are crouching behind a fallen tree with Octavia behind them.
"Anything?" I say as I crouch down beside Octavia.
"Negative," Miller responds as his eyes move around the trees.
We sit there throughout most of the day and wait. We see no movement, but all of us are dead silent and on the edge of our toes as we wait to see a bunch of grounders come charging. Once the sun sets, we begin to hear drums playing.
"War drums," I whisper as my blood runs cold.
"They're here," Monroe says in a shaky voice.
"Miller? Miller, do you copy," Bellamy's voice comes on through the radio.
"Yes Bellamy, what is it?" Miller asks through the radio.
"Any movement on your side? Over," Bellamy asks.
"Negative, only the drums," Miller says again.
"Let me talk to Robby," Bellamy says.
Miller hands me the radio.
"What?" I say into the radio.
"Is Octavia there with you?" He asks me concerned.
"Yes she's right next to m—" I say as I turn my head and see where Octavia was just a second ago.
"Robby where is she?" Bellamy asks.
"She was right there and now she's gone," I say frantically.
"I'm coming," Bellamy says then the radio goes silent.
"Shit, where the hell did she go?" I say frantically looking around.
Bellamy appears in the trench.
"Where did she go?" Bellamy says grabbing me by the collar.
"I already told you. I don't know," I say through gritted teeth as I shove his arm off me.
"She left five minutes ago. She didn't say where to. She thinks she's a damn samurai. Kinda like you Robby, except you aren't waving your sword around constantly," Miller says.
I roll my eyes and Bellamy doesn't look amused at all.
"You see anything?" Bellamy asks pointing his gun at the woods.
"No. What the hell are they waiting for?" Monroe asks terrified.
"The longer they wait the better. This is about buying time for Raven," Bellamy says.
"Oh yeah and use this for long range," Bellamy says handing me a gun.
"I see them. They're moving! I count one, two, three, no wait there's more. I don't man there's to damn many of them," Sterling yells into the radio clearly in a panic.
"Get ready," I say aiming my gun into the woods.
We start hearing gunfire.
"Who was that?" Bellamy asks.
"Sterling I think. South foxhole," Miller answers.
"South foxhole report now!" Bellamy says into the radio.
"Yeah were okay they didn't attack it's like we're shooting at ghosts," Sterling answers confused.
"They're drawing our fire. They're trying to make us waste bullets," I say snatching the radio from Bellamy.
"Gunners hold your fire. Only shoot if they get close or if they run head on toward you," I say into the radio.
"There! I see them!" Monroe says and starts shooting.
"No hold your fire!" I say as her gun clicks.
"Reload now," Bellamy says agitated.
"That was my last clip," Monroe says panicked.
"We should-we should fall back," Monroe suggests terrified.
"No, if this position falls, they walk right through the front door," Bellamy says.
"Everyone hold your fire we're doing exactly what they want us to do," I say into the radio.
"How do you know?" Harper asks through the radio.
"I assume when Murphy ran off, they recaptured him and he told them because why else would they run laterally like that?" I answer.
"He's right, they're drawing our fire," Jasper says through the radio.
"Hold your fire, plus the mines will take care of em," Bellamy says snatching the radio from my hand.
Everything goes quiet as more grounders run back and forth through the forest. I hear an explosion and see one of them fly through the air propelled by the blast.
"Gotcha," I whisper in a cocky voice.
"Raven our mines actually worked!" Jasper yells excitedly through the radio.
"Of course they did," I remark happily with confidence through the radio.
After a while of silence, we hear yelling and screaming as an entire army of grounders charges our camp. I'm absolutely terrified, but I'm taking Tristan with me of Im gonna die tonight.
"Here they come!" Miller yells as he picks one off.
We all shoot like there's no tomorrow. We have to or else there won't be a tomorrow for us. Monroe runs away as grounders get close to our position.
"Monroe get back here!" Miller's yells.
Bellamy, Miller, and I are shooting as many as we can before one leaps over the fallen tree and kicks Bellamy. He grabs my gun and throws it away. He tackles me to the ground and we wrestle for a while.
"Robby! Ahhhhh" Miller screams as the grounder hits him in the shoulder with an axe.
I headbutt the distracted grounder and knee him in the groin. He grunts loudly and I jam my sword through his neck.
"No cheap shots on the battlefield," I mutter quietly to myself.
I begin making my way to the grounder that is giving Bellamy a hard time, but a sword stabs through his head and he falls down. Octavia stands above Bellamy and the newly deceased grounder.
"Admit it. You want one," she says smugly.
"O!" I say and she looks at me before an arrow flies into her leg.
"No! You're hit! Miller, Robby, fall back now!" Bellamy says as she falls into his arms.
"No, I'm not leaving her!" I yell to Bellamy as I kneel down next to Octavia who is breathing heavily.
"Robby, go with Miller!" Bellamy orders.
I trust him to take care of Octavia so I begin running with Miller. Bellamy is saying things to Octavia before he carries her and follows us back to camp. We spring as gunfire goes off like fireworks and people are yelling in fear pain and determination.
"There's to many, everybody to the dropship now!" Miller yells as he stands by the wall shooting whatever grounders he can find.
"No we still need more time!" Clarke yells back.
I took a gun off of one of our dead and am shooting what I can beside Miller.
"Go, I'll hold them off for as long as I can!" I yell to Miller.
"No! You gave yourself up on the ark to save me, Finn, and a lot of other people. I'm not betraying you now!" Miller says.
I pause to think, but just nod as we keep firing on the grounders. People who are not gunners are scrambling to get inside the dropship.
"I guess it wouldn't have mattered because you got arrested anyway," I say in a lighthearted tone.
He is about to say something before we hear explosions from the sky. Everyone, including the grounders, looks to the sky and we see a bunch of ships or something plummeting to the ground. I recognize the ark now in pieces falling to the ground as stations explode. Only three stations are still falling and one has deployed landing engines. I refocus on the army outside the gate before I hear hoops and hollers that make my blood run cold. The reapers are here. I look over and almost laugh as Finn and Lincoln are sprinting away from the reapers who are chasing them before they both disappear into the brush to get to camp. The comical part of this is that they look absolutely ridiculous. The reapers stop to look at the grounders.
"REEEAAAPEEERRS!" The biggest grounder shouts.
He's huge, bald, and very mean looking and I immediacy recognize him. It's Tristan. The grounders disregard us and charge the reapers instead. While they are locked in combat I run over to Bellamy who is sitting by Octavia. The arrow is still sticking out of her leg. Bellamy is talking to her and she is in denial about whatever he is saying. I look over at Finn who is talking to Clarke. They both look flustered. I decide to head over to Bellamy and O.
"Hey Pocahontas," I say out of breath as I kneel down next to her.
"Robby your head," she whispers.
I touch my forehead which has a long gash and blood running down it.
"It's nothing. We need to get you safely out of here. Lincoln is here we can go with—" I suggest.
"Octavia. Robby," Lincoln says as he appears from the forest and kneels down next to Octavia.
"Lincoln!" She says exhausted.
I shake forearms with Lincoln.
"Lincoln you have to have some medicine or something. We have to save her," I say pleading for him to say that he does.
"You did this?" Bellamy asks regarding the reapers.
"With Finn," he answers.
"Who would've thought, his stupid ideas work sometimes," I shrug.
"It's deep," Lincoln says as he examines Octavia's leg.
"What can we do?" I ask panicked.
"I can help you, but you have to come with me now," Lincoln says.
We both look at Bellamy for his approval. It's his sister after all.
"Go. Let him help you," Bellamy answers nodding his head.
"No way. I have to see this through," Octavia denies.
"O. You have to go with him, it's the only way," I say putting my hands on her cheeks.
"You can't walk and we can't get you back to the dropship," Bellamy says looking sad.
"They're right. This fight is over for you," Lincoln says seriously.
"Come with me," she pleads as she puts her hand on mine.
"I can't. I'm sorry. I have to fight for my people. Im still healthy and alive," I say as I brush her hair out of her face.
I get up to go, but stop for a second. I can't leave I have to finish this fight with my people.
"Lincoln, promise me. Promise me that you'll save her," I say looking at him.
He looks me straight in the eye, claps a hand on my shoulder and says "I promise."
"O. O. Listen to me. I told you my life ended the day you were born. The truth is... it didn't start until then," Bellamy says as his eyes begin to water.
"Go with him. I, we... need you to live," Bellamy says pointing his thumb back forth between me and himself.
"Besides... we got this," he says putting a hand on my shoulder and looking at me proudly.
I nod and look at Octavia as a tear rolls down her cheek. Octavia pulls Bellamy into a hug that lasts a long time. I get up and walk over to Lincoln.
"I have to fight for my friends. I'm sure you can understand. It's what I trained for. This is how I save my people," I whisper to Lincoln.
He smiles at me and hugs me.
"I'll save her. I promise. Or I'll die trying," Lincoln says sincerely.
"Thanks brother," I say.
We look at Bellamy and Octavia who have finished their goodbye and Lincoln goes to pick her up. Lincoln begins to carry her off.
"Robby," she says and reaches out to me.
I walk up to her and she grabs my face with little to no strength.
"I love you so much," I whisper as I put my hands on her cheeks.
"Robby, I've loved you since the first day you knocked on my cell wall," she whispers.
I kiss her with as much love as I can muster.
"May we meet again," she says caressing my cheek.
"Not may. We will meet again," I whisper smiling.
I watch as Lincoln carries her away from camp. She looks longingly at Bellamy and I as Lincoln carries her further and further into the woods.
"You ready?" Bellamy asks.
"Yeah. Let's kill every last one of those bastards. Except Anya. That bitch is mine along with their leader Tristan," I say as I walk back to the middle of camp.
The grounders charge our camp again. Gunners are falling left and right. We're defenseless.
"We need to get everyone to the dropship now," I say desperately to Bellamy.
He nods and yells "everyone to the dropship now!"
"Use the grenades!" I shout and people begin throwing them at the grounders.
At last I see Tristan enter and he looks around like a primal beast looking for his next meal. He locks eyes with me and I draw my sword.
"Come get it!" I yell at him.
We charge at each other yelling and our swords clash. Grounders are killing us left and right as we battle it out. I hear Clarke yelling at people to get inside. I'm giving it everything I have against Tristan who is out matching me every second the battle continues. Tristan reels back and slashes his sword across my chest. It isn't lethal or deep whatsoever, but it still does damage. I scream and he kicks me in the stomach. I fly backward as the force from his kick send me soaring. I watch him butcher two more of our people. Tristan stands above me as he reels back to deliver the killing blow. I close my eyes as I wait for death. However, someone tackles him off me and I see Bellamy using his gun to block Tristian's sword. He came from the safety of the dropship to save my life. His scuffle with Tristian ends when he punches Bellamy to the ground. Bellamy tries to use his gun as a sword, but it doesn't work. I get up and slash my sword across Tristain's back before he can kill Bellamy. However, it barely phases him and he turns on me once again. I hold my own, but I'm so exhausted that he knocks me down after about 30 seconds of us fighting. Suddenly, Finn comes and tackles him to the ground. He gets up and turns to look at Clarke who is in tears. He nods at her and she goes inside. I sprint up to Tristan who is on the ground and I put my hands over his throat and squeeze as hard as I can. Finn tries to pull my off and I can hear him yelling, but I can't understand him over my screams of rage as I press harder and harder against Tristian's windpipe.
"Stop!" Finn yells as he and Bellamy rip me off Tristian and pull me toward the gate.
"This place is gonna blow any second now," Bellamy says.
Before I know it, flames erupt around the dropship consuming every grounder in sight. The three of us sprint as fast as we can outside the camp as the inferno chases us. Grounders are screaming as they run behind us covered in flames. We make it outside the gate just as the flames scorch the back of my jacket. Bellamy pulls Finn and I down into a trench and we put our heads down as the flames shoot over us. At last when the flames die down and the screaming of burning grounders has gone silent, the three of us poke our heads up from the trench and looks at the now burnt camp full of charred skeletons and flesh still burning red hot. We did it. We won.
"We don't know how many more if them are out there. We've got to go now," I say.
Finn and Bellamy nod and we run into the night. Away from camp and the dropship that has our friends still inside.
