Kendall stretched out a little in his sleep and woke with a cry when a sharp pain went through his leg.

James jumped up and took his hand. "It's okay, I'm here. Are you in pain?"

Kendall looked up at him and started shaking. He yanked his hand away and tried to push his way to the other side of the bed.

James looked over at Carlos, sorrow in his eyes. "Please, help him," he mouthed.

Logan stood next to James and put his arm around his shoulder. "It's okay," he whispered to his friend.

Carlos sat next to Kendall and squeezed his hand. "It's okay, Buddy, I've got you. Did you have a bad dream?"

"L-Los?" he said, trying to pull Carlos closer to him.

"Yeah, it's okay. James and Logan are here, too. We're all here for you, Buddy."

Kendall shook his head as he tried to break through the fog in his mind. He looked over at James and Logan but all he could see was that morning, James telling him he was a bad boy and Logan remaining silent at the taunting.

"They hate me," Kendall whispered to Carlos. He felt shaky and disoriented as he held onto his friend for dear life.

"No, of course they don't hate you. We all love you so much and we're all here for you. You don't have to be scared," Carlos told him, as he gently pulled him closer.

Kendall shook his head again. "They think I lied, they think I cheated. I swear I didn't!"

"We know you didn't. Kendall, please believe us, we're so sorry," Logan told him, his voice breaking.

"I want my mom, when are they coming home?" Kendall sobbed, still holding tightly to Carlos.

"I'll go get her," James said quietly. He took a deep breath as he headed for the door.

"I'll come with you," Logan said, following his friend.

James shook his head. "You should stay in case Carlos needs help. I'll get Mama Knight and be right back."

"A-Are you sure?" Logan asked, surprised by James demeanor.

James nodded. "Papi said it's going to take time, so, I'm going to do what I need to do to help him recover. If that means he wants Carlos to protect him right now, then that's what he gets."

"O-Okay," Logan said.

"It's going to be okay," James told him.

Logan nodded and went back over to Kendall's bedside.

James went out the door and to the waiting room. His mom and Jen were talking quietly, Katie was watching cartoons on the television.

"Mama Knight, Kendall's waking up and wants you."

"Really? Okay, thank you, Sweetie," Jen said, jumping up. She kissed James on the cheek and then headed down the hallway.

"Katie, do you want to go with your mom?" Brooke asked.

Katie shook her head. "I'll wait."

James went over and sat next to her. "Are you okay?"

"I just don't want to scare him again," she said, still staring at the television.

James reached over and pushed a stray lock of hair behind her ear. "You didn't scare him, he was having a nightmare and the medicine makes him really confused."

"He screamed."

"I know, but he's waking up now and should be able to recognize you," he told her.

"Are you sure?'

He nodded. "He knew who we are, not where we are, but he knew us."

"Maybe in a little while," Katie said.

"Okay. You know we're all here for you, right? James asked softly.

She nodded. "I don't know how it make it better.

James put his arm around her. "Neither do I, but we'll figure it out."

"I'm scared," Katie admitted, turning to hug him.

James held her and looked over at his mom. "Me too," he said as his eyes filled with tears.

Brooke went over and knelt next to them. She hugged them both and kissed James on the forehead. "We will get through this and everyone will be stronger in the end."

"Mom…" James whispered as he laid his head on her shoulder and cried.

Brooke sighed and held them both close. "Let it all out, now, because we have to put on brave faces for Kendall."

Katie started crying then and Brooke sat there, gently rocking back and forth, trying to comfort them.

Freight Train saw Jen rushing towards Kendall's room and stood up. Much to his surprise, she quickly hugged him. "He's waking up and wants me!"

He gently patted her back and opened the door for her. "Of course he does," he said softly.

She nodded, went inside, and her heart dropped. Carlos was holding Kendall, who was crying. Carlos was quietly humming to him and rubbing his back. Logan was standing on the other side of the bed, looking stricken.

Jen hurried to the bed and Carlos looked up. "Hey Buddy, your mom is here."

Kendall didn't look up and tightened his hold on Carlos. Carlos shifted a little so Jen could get closer.

"Did he remember?" Jen mouthed.

Carlos shook his head.

Jen sat next to Carlos and ran her fingers through Kendall's hair. "It's okay, Sweetie, I'm here."

"M-Mama?"

"Yes, Baby."

"I d-don't feel good," Kendall said, finally looking at her.

Her heart clenched. He rarely admitted to feeling ill to her and never in front of the other boys. She gave him a small smile. "I know, Baby. You'll be feeling better in no time," she promised.

"W-What happened to m-me?"

She took a deep breath. "Well, you haven't been feeling very well and then Camille and her dad saw you in the park. The police think you were mugged," she said carefully.

"I d-don't remember. Why can't I remember?"

Jen nodded to Carlos who stood up and she quickly took his place. She pulled Kendall into her arms and held his head to her shoulder. "The doctor thinks it's exhaustion and because you've been sick. She said you should be feeling better soon."

"Doctor…I remember. He s-said I have anemia?" Kendall asked as random thoughts made their way back to him. He started to relax a little and loosened his hold on her.

Jen looked at Logan, who nodded. "Yes, but you're going to be just fine," Jen said as she helped him lie back against the pillows.

"He gave him some supplements to help," Logan told her.

Kendall started feeling anxious again as he recognized Logan's voice. "They're mad at me," he said as his breathing increased.

"Sweetie, calm down. No one is mad at you," Jen said soothingly.

"They are, they are," he said as he drifted off back to sleep.

Logan's eyes widened and he looked over at Carlos.

"Why does he think you're mad at him?" Jen asked quietly.

"Uh, it was when Griffin said we got to go to Disneyland for the day. We told Kendall we wouldn't go if he didn't want us to and he said he didn't. He was just teasing because Griffin was going to send us all to Disneyland for the weekend, but Logan and James thought he was serious, at first. They already figured all of that out," Carlos quickly explained.

"Oh, okay. You're sure?" Jen asked looking at the two boys.

Carlos nodded. "We were all just goofing around."

"The doctor said his memory was going to be spotty for awhile," Logan said quietly.

She nodded. "You boys are okay, though?"

"We will be," Carlos said as he put his arm around Logan's shoulders.

Griffin glared at the guard as he instructed him to take a seat at the defendant's table.

"Arthur…" Rutger warned softly.

"I'm fine," Arthur said, giving the guard a nod and half smile.

"You need to maintain your composure if you want the judge to grant you bail," Rutger said.

"I am very calm," Griffin said, patting his attorney on the back.

"The prosecutor will not be kind in his assessment of the charges and you need to remain quiet unless the judge asks you something directly. Do you understand?"

"I'm not a child, Bill."

"All rise. This court with the Honourable Judge Donner presiding, is now in session," the bailiff called out.

Everyone in the courtroom stood as a middle-aged, distinguished looking man entered the courtroom. He nodded to the bailiff after he took his seat at the bench.

"Be seated," the bailiff said.

Everyone sat and waited as the judge looked through the paperwork. He looked over at the bailiff and nodded again.

"State of California vs. Arthur Griffin."

Rutger stood, pulling Griffin up with him. "We are here, Your Honour."

Judge Donner looked and Rutger and Griffin and back at the papers. "Mr. Griffin, you are charged with aggravated assault and battery, illegal detainment of a minor, administering illegal substances to a minor, sexual assault of a minor, and attempted murder. Do you understand these charges as they are read?"

Rutger nodded at Griffin. "Yes, Your Honour."

"You have legal representation?"

"Yes, your Honour. This is my attorney, William Rutger," Griffin said politely.

"Mr. Rutger, you are agreeing to represent Mr. Griffin?"

"Yes, Your Honour."

The judge made a notation and nodded. "How do you plead to the aforementioned charges?"

"Not guilty, of course," Griffin stated with a smirk.

Judge Donner looked at him. "Do you find this amusing?"

Griffin went to answer but Rutger squeezed his arm as a warning. "We apologize, Your Honour. Mr Griffin is near exhaustion and not himself."

"Your client needs to comport himself. These are extremely serious charges and not to be taken lightly. Now, I ask again, how do you plead?"

"I apologize. I plead not guilty," Griffin said, as Rutger continued to squeeze his arm.

"Your Honour, we request that bail be set," Rutger said.

"Ms. Patterson?" Judge Donner said, looking over at the DA.

Jane Patterson stood up. "Your Honour, the state requests bail be denied. These are all class 'A' felonies and we believe the defendant is a flight risk."

"Your Honour, this is Mr. Griffin's first offense and he has a high standing in this city. He is also the CEO of a multi-national business, of which thousands depend on for their livelihood. He is willing to surrender his passport to the courts," Rutger countered.

"Your Honour, given the defendant's substantial resources, the victim's family fears for his safety were the defendant granted bail. Again, these are all class 'A' felonies and the doctor who was working for the defendant has yet to be found."

Griffin went to say something but Rutger shook his head. "No," he hissed at his stubborn client.

"Your Honour, the only evidence the prosecution has, thus far, is circumstantial. We request bail be set until trial," Rutger said calmly.

Judge Donner looked through the papers and made another notation. "It says here that tests run on the young man's hair matches the exclusive brand that your client uses?" He asked Rutger.

"Yes, Your Honour. However, Mr. Griffin gave Mr. Knight the samples that came with his last purchase," Rutger told him.

He pondered for a moment and looked over at Patterson. "At this moment, is there any other tangible evidence tying the victim to the accused?"

"Your Honour, the boy is still recovering from his injuries, and, is in and out of consciousness. He is unable to confirm anything, at this time."

Judge Donner nodded and made another notation. "While I am loathe to do so, bail will be granted, at this time. However, if the victim identifies the defendant as his attacker, know that it can, and, will be revoked. Is that understood?" Donner asked, looking at Rutger and Griffin.

"Yes, Your Honour," Rutger said.

"Your Honour, until then, we would like to ask for the defendant to be placed under house arrest and fitted with an ankle monitor," Patterson said.

He nodded. "Bail is set at two million, cash bond only. The defendant will surrender his passport and his bank accounts placed on temporary hold. An ankle monitor will be placed and he will be confined to his home. Any questions?"

Griffin turned red and whispered something to Rutger, who nodded.

"Your Honour, Mr. Griffin has considerable duties in his position as CEO of RCMCBT Global Net Sanyoid and requests to be allowed to continue working."

"If Mr. Griffin wishes to continue working, he is perfectly welcome to do so. From home," Judge Donner said.

Griffin said something else to Rutger, who sighed. "You Honour, part of Mr. Griffin's duties include meeting with investors and employees. He is often called to various facilities where product is developed and made, for his approval."

The judge arched an eyebrow at them. "You DO realize how serious these charges are?"

"Yes, Your Honour," Rutger said.

"Mr. Griffin can conduct business from home. If he is found to go beyond the range of the monitor, bail will be forfeited and he will be awaiting trial in jail. Is that understood?" Judge Donner asked firmly.

"Yes, Your Honour."

"I am also issuing an order of no-contact. Mr. Griffin, if you attempt to contact the victim or his family, in any way, bail will be forfeited and further charges will be brought against you. Do you understand?"

"Yes," Griffin said.

"Yes, Your Honour," Judge Donner corrected.

"Yes, Your Honour," Griffin said through tightly clenched teeth.

"Your Honour, we also request that a no-contact order be issued protecting the other boys in the band," Patterson said.

"So issued. Are there any other matters regarding this case?"

"No, Your Honour," Patterson said.

"No, thank you, Your Honour," Rutger said.

"You will be notified when the trial is scheduled," Judge Donner told him

Rutger nodded.

"Get me the hell out of here," Griffin hissed.

Judge Donner heard him and arched an eyebrow, again. "You will be welcome to leave as soon as bail is met, the ankle monitor attached, and installed at your premises. Until then, feel free to enjoy the comfort of your cell."

"Your really never learn, do you?" Rutger sighed as the guard pulled Griffin up and toward the side door.

Antonio pulled into the parking garage and drove to the doctor's level, where he flashed his badge and the attendant directed him as to where to park. He pulled into the spot and got out, he started for the elevator when he realized Kelly and Gustavo were not with him. He walked back to the car and found both looking at their phones. He opened Kelly's door. "Are you coming?"

She showed him her phone. "Another teaser."

He clenched his jaw as he looked at the screen. "Let's get inside, we don't know who may be around."

She nodded and he took her arm.

She looked back at Gustavo. "Come on, we need to get inside before any of the boys sees this."

Gustavo nodded but just sat there.

"You head in, we'll be right behind you," Antonio told her.

"He's taking this really hard," she said softly.

Antonio nodded. "I know."

"Okay, I'll see you inside," she said as she started for the elevator.

Antonio sighed and opened the back passenger door. He got in and sat next to Gustavo. "How are you holding up?"

"I failed him."

"Gustavo…no, you didn't. You've done everything you can for him and the other boys. Griffin knew what he was doing and there's no way you could have known, or, prevented this," Antonio told him.

Gustavo stared straight ahead, trying to organize his thoughts. "You know, I've spent most of my life alone. When I was young I didn't exactly have kids tripping over themselves to be my friend. I've never really fit in anywhere, even with my music. My mom wanted me to be a classic pianist, so I studied and practiced, but that's not where I fit either. It's also not something you can make a lot of money doing. You know what I loved about the 80's?"

"What," Antonio asked.

"You could do anything, from hard rock to punk to pop to heavy metal. Hell, I even dabbled in country for about a minute. Anything went but there was just something about pop music that stuck. It took awhile to make some connections, but found my first band and my career took off."

"You're a talented man, Gustavo, so I'm not surprised. Even those of us in Minnesota had heard of you," Antonio said.

Gustavo sighed. "In all those years, there has never been anyone like these boys, and I'm not talking about talent. They accepted me, without a second thought. They made me feel like I finally belong. They feel like h-home. And now…I don't know how to make this right," he said as he fought back tears.

Antonio put his arm around the man's shoulder. "It's not up to you to fix anything, this wasn't your doing. What you can do is what family does, you be there. Right now, that's all any of us can do. The law will take care of Griffin."

Gustavo shook his head. "He's got a lot of money and a lot of power. He will use every trick in the book, and, in the end, try to turn it around so he looks like the victim. He doesn't give a damn about anyone but himself, and that makes him dangerous."

"I'll make you a deal," Antonio said seriously.

"What?" Gustavo said, looking at him.

"If they let him off, we'll take care of him, together," Antonio promised.

Gustavo gave him a small smile. "Well, now I'm conflicted."

"Why?"

"I kind of hope he does get off, because that is something I would enjoy."

"Good, we better get inside and figure out who is providing information to that rag magazine," Antonio said opening his door.

"Antonio?"

"Yeah," he said looking back at Gustavo.

"Thanks."

Antonio smiled again. "You're welcome, Hermano."

Kelly and Olivia were waiting by the elevator doors, quietly talking. The doors opened and Antonio and Gustavo stepped out. "Let's talk in the meeting room," Olivia said, pointing down the hallway, away from Kendall's room.

They followed her and she locked the door behind them once they were all inside.

"How the hell did they get into his room?" Gustavo asked.

"I don't know. I've checked the log and only medical staff has gone in," Olivia said.

"Someone dressed as a nurse?" Kelly suggested.

Olivia shook her head. "If they aren't part of the regular staff, they have to show their badge when they come on the floor."

"That means it has to be regular staff," Antonio said.

"The staff here has been fully vetted. I know most of them and would trust them with my life," Olivia said.

"That doesn't leave us with many choices." Kelly sighed.

Antonio's phone buzzed. He looked at the screen and clicked talk. Before he could even speak Carlos' voice came on the line.

"Papi, where are you? Something bad is happening!"

"Carlos, what's wrong?" Antonio asked.

"Someone posted a picture online and we think it's Kendall even though you can't see his face because they blurred it, but I know it's him," Carlos rushed out.

"Alright, stay calm and quiet. Where are you?" Antonio asked as he headed for the door.

"In the waiting room with James and Logan."

"Have they seen it?'

"Y-Yes, James punched the wall and Logan is trying not to throw up."

"Where are Jen and Katie?"

"W-With Kendall."

"Alright, I'll be right there. Don't leave the room and don't say anything."

"I won't."

Antonio ended the call and looked at the others and opened the door. "The boys saw the photos."

"Oh no," Kelly said.

Antonio walked down the hallway, the other following him.

Antonio opened the door and the boys looked over. Brooke was sitting next to Logan, rubbing his back. James was pacing the room and his anger was palpable. Carlos threw himself at his dad and Antonio hugged him.

Olivia closed the door and went over to check on Logan. "Are you doing okay?"

He shook his head as she took the chair on the other side of him. "Deep, even breaths in through your nose, out through your mouth," she instructed.

He did as she said and was able to sit up straight a couple of minutes later. "What are we going to do?"

"We are going to find out who took these pictures," Antonio said.

"How?" James asked.

"Well, it has to be someone who has had access to his room, which means probably an employee," Olivia said.

"But who could it have been? Like you said, all the employees have been checked out, " Kelly asked.

"That assistant, she was acting weird when we went in the room," James said, thinking back.

"You mean Angie, the technician?" Olivia asked.

"I don't know what her name is, but she was just staring at him when we went in the room," James said angrily.

"Damn it," Olivia said quietly. She got up and went to the door.

"Where are you going?" Antonio asked.

"To call Dr. Breyer and ask him about his assistant," she said.

She returned a few minutes later. "She'll be here in a few minutes, along with Mr. Simmons."

"Who is that?" Gustavo asked.

"The hospital administrator, I can't question her without him here."

"Do you think it's her?" Antonio asked.

"I don't know who else it could be, and, since she was alone with him, it's possible. I just don't know how she could do something like this. She has an excellent reputation and Dr. Breyer said she's never broken any confidence."

"That he knows about," Brooke pointed out.

Olivia sighed. "I guess that's true."

Kelly's phone buzzed and she looked at it. "Not again."

"What now?" Gustavo asked.

"I'm not showing you," she said, handing her phone to Antonio.

He looked at the screen and saw a photo of Kendall in bed and the other boys sitting around him. Their faces were pixelated so you couldn't make out who was who unless you knew them. The caption read "What famous boyband is hiding one of their own at Cedars Sinai? Tune in at 7 to find out."

"How the hell did they get these?" He fumed.

Olivia's phone buzzed. "Well, let's go find out. They're waiting in the conference room."

Antonio nodded and handed Kelly back her phone. "Stay here and don't talk to anyone," he told the boys.

"We won't," Carlos promised.

"We'll be back soon," Antonio said as he closed the door behind him.

Gustavo reached over and snatched Kelly's phone.

"Gustavo, no!" She tried to grab it back.

"I can't find it on mine!" Gustavo said, holding it away from here. "AGHHH!" He screamed when he saw the photo.

Kelly rolled her eyes and grabbed her phone. "That's why you don't need to see it. It just upsets you and we have to stay calm."

Carlos had pulled the photo up on his phone and was looking at it. "There's something strange about these photos."

"Like what?" James asked.

"I don't know. They all seem to be alike except…"

"Except what?" Gustavo asked.

Carlos' eyes widened when he realized what it was. He jumped up and ran out the door.

"Carlos, come back here," Logan ordered.

Carlos ignored him and ran down the hall. He saw Antonio and Olivia just getting into the elevator. "Papi, wait!"

"Carlos, what's wrong?" Antonio asked, punching the hold button.

"I know how they got the pictures!"

"What…how?" Antonio asked.

"Come with me," Carlos said, starting for Kendall's room.

"Carlos, wait," Antonio said looking at Olivia.

"Go, I can't keep the administrator waiting. Let me know what he's found and I'll let you know what I find," Olivia told him.

"No, you have to come too," Carlos called back.

Olivia looked at Antonio, unsure of what to do. "I'm trusting he knows what he's talking about," she said, stepping out of the elevator.

"Here's hoping," Antonio said, following his son.

They got to Kendall's room and Carlos stopped. He looked up at Freight Train. "Just to confirm, nobody but us and hospital staff has gone in Kendall's room, right?"

Freight Train looked at him and then Antonio and Olivia. "Nobody gets by me. Why?"

"Just making sure." Carlos smiled and patted the tall man on the arm.

"Carlos, will you tell me what's going on?" Antonio said quietly.

Jen was sitting next to Kendall, who was sleeping again. Katie was watching television with the volume down. Jen looked over and put her finger to her lips. "Hey, he just fell asleep without having to take anything."

Carlos looked around the room, and then at his phone. He went over and started looking around the television.

"Carlos, what are you doing?" Katie asked.

"It has to be here," he said to himself.

"Mijo, what are you looking for?" Antonio asked.

Carlos showed him his phone and scrolled through the photos of Kendall that had been posted. He showed them to Antonio and Olivia. "Do you see how the photos are staged?"

"What's going on?" Jen asked, getting up.

Antonio looked at Katie. "Mija, I need you to go stay with the other boys for a few minutes."

"Why?" Katie asked.

"We'll explain later but I need you to go now," Antonio said. Jen didn't know about the photos and he didn't want Katie demanding to see them.

"Fine," Katie said, standing up.

"It'll be just a few minutes," Antonio promised.

"That's what grownups always say," she grumbled as she headed out the door.

"What is going on?" Jen asked again.

Antonio took a deep breath and quickly filled her in.

"What the hell is wrong with the people in this city?" She asked.

"Shh," Olivia said, pointing at Kendall.

"They can't do this, right?" Jen asked angrily.

"As soon as we find out how they did it, we can ask the courts to intervene. If we find it in time," Antonio said, watching as Carlos continued looking around the electronic equipment.

"It has to be here," he said, again.

"What are you looking for?" Olivia asked.

"A spy camera. It's the only way this makes any sense. If you look at the pictures, they are all coming from this angle," he said, pointing at the television.

Olivia looked at the photos again.

"That's true, Mijo, except for the first one," Antonio said.

Carlos shook his head. "It's the same angle, it's just zoomed in."

"He's right, and look at the last picture," Olivia said, handing the phone to Antonio.

"What am I looking at?"

She pointed to Kendall's left arm. "His arm has the cast on it. Angie wasn't in here after the ultrasound. She didn't take these photos."

"Son of a…" Antonio said, looking through them again.

"I'll be right back," Olivia said, hurrying out the door.
