Canadian Pride – Track 3
It's the sixth day of the competition, and the semifinal of the War of the Bands is reaching its climax. Devil's Muse was the second band to play on the show. Their performance was a cover of 'How you remind me' by Nickelback and got a great reception from both the public and the judges. Now they were in close competition for the first place, even if the chemistry between the bandmates was at an all-time low.
But maybe the competition will be over before the Winners award. After rescuing Ella, Black Unicorn was hurrying back to the show, but they were about to be eliminated because it was their turn and only Trent was on the building. Is this the end of the path for our band? Find out now as the battle rages on this War of the Bands.
"Sorry Trent. It's your group turn to go onto the stage and they're not here, you're hereby eliminated from the War of the Bands," said Don in a solemn voice. Kelly Thomson and Jose Burromuerto standing behind him.
"Please wait. They'll be here at any moment, please," said Trent, pleading at the director.
Jose walked to Don, not even looking at Trent. "C'mon Don, make the official announcement. We're on a schedule here."
The director pressed his earpiece, but before he could talk, Topher began to speak.
"And before the last band, we have a special intermission for all of you, our fans that are watching the show. A spring of clear water in the middle of this cruel war. An exclusive performance by Canada's girlfriend. Her Hotness, Lindsay, who will interpret for us her hit "Just Tyler," said Topher before going backstage.
The spotlight went on Lindsay, who was in the middle of the stage. She was dressed in a full Scarlett glitter dress, with a red bandana. She began to sing and dance slowly, showing an enthralling smile. Her voice could be heard clearly over the crowd's wild cheering.
"Topher, what's the meaning of this? Lindsay's performance was the closure of the episode," said Kelly, her voice neutral. She wasn't grasping the situation.
Jose glared at the director. "This's preposterous Don, I asked you to be more careful in the semifinals, and then this happens. Vergonzoso[1]!"
"You were supposed to announce Black Unicorn elimination. Why did you decide to ignore the program and announce Lindsay's performance now?" asked Don in an angrier tone than Kelly, and ignoring Jose.
"Sorry, Don, but it was Lindsay's idea, and she was adamant about performing. By the way, Trent, she asked me to pass a message to you, well to Trevor. Thanks for stopping the elevator even if you were in a hurry," said Topher.
Trent smiled gratefully at her. Lindsay was really the best.
On the stage after her song, Lindsay took off her dress and changed into a two-piece dress with a short skirt and cowboy boots. And she began to sing 'Remembering your name,' her number one single. The song had a quicker tempo than the first one. She began to dance with an enthusiasm that quickly passed to the audience.
The green-eyed musician then had an idea, it was the moment to do or die.
"This is outrageous, but if it was Lindsay's decision, there is nothing we can do. But after her performance, you have to announce their elimination," said Don, sighing. It had been a long episode with Jose, Kelly's guest, nagging him all night.
"Don please, if my band isn't here, at least let me perform solo," said Trent, his eyes full of passion.
"What? No way! Don, you can't allow this," said Jose, scowling at the guitarist.
Don put his arm in front of Jose, "Please Mr. Burromuerto, let me handle it." He then faced the guitarist, "Trent, do you really believe you can beat Devil's Muse or H-tonics with a solo performance?"
"No, but I'm sure when my turn comes, my band will be here," said Trent, putting a hand over his chest.
The director rubbed his chin, then smiled and said, "All right, you have my authorization. Please Topher. Announce Black Unicorn after Lindsay's act."
"What? Don what kind of-" began Jose but was interrupted by Kelly.
"Jose please, let him perform. There's no way he can beat my Taylor," said Kelly smiling, she loved this kind of competition.
The older Burromuerto seethed as Trent thanked Don for the opportunity. Topher patted the guitarist's back and returned to the stage.
At the same time, Lindsay ended her performance with the crowd wildly cheering. She then looked at the backstage and winked at Trent. He bowed in gratitude. He was really in her debt for this chance. Her hotness then waved at the public and send some kisses before going down the scenario.
"That was the one million dollar blonde, and she's worth each cent. Now let's introduce the last band, the dark horse that is a favorite, The Black Unicorn," said Topher clapping as the interview began to play on the screen.
War of the bands 6th round third band interview: Black Unicorn
On the screen, Topher gave Ella a kiss and a handshake to Trent and Cody before giving them the envelope with this week's challenge. Behind them, you could see Duncan and B.
Cody took the envelope and opened it with his keys. Ella watched him pouting as she wanted to open it again this week.
"The challenge is to perform a song from any Canadian band or group. That's great, we can play something from the New Pornographers," said Cody smiling.
"No, Cody, I reject that idea. We will not perform a song composed by a group with that kind of name," said Ella, with a serious tone unusual on her.
"But Ella-" said Cody.
"Rejected Cody," said Ella getting flustered, interrupting Cody.
"But they're not-"
"Refusé, et c'est définitif![2]" said Ella in a more serious tone.
"Give up Codester. She's Frenching you. You can't win this argument," said Duncan, as he, B, Trent, and Topher laughed at the situation.
The scene then changed to Cody's basement. Trent was talking with B, who was playing the drums slowly while the guitarist nodded. Duncan was alone in a corner playing his guitar without paying attention to the others, while Ella and Cody talked over the song's partiture.
The image then changed to Duncan, who was doing the interview, "That Codester and Elvis, they'll pay for this. Eh? No, I was talking with myself. What? I have to talk about the song we choose? Whatever, this's just a waste of time, it's a song by a Canadian artist, but it needed some arrangements for our band."
Duncan began to scowl at the interviewer, "What? Do you want to hear more? Oh, c'mon, this is stupid. Something about the band? I don't know, we're cool. Elvis is the anti-fun leader, Codester is the fun little brother. Fairy princess is the nice gal that lives in her own world full of rainbows and unicorns, and Bumblebee the creepy uncle that no one knows what he is thinking." After saying that, a plastic bottle passed flying too close to the delinquent's head.
The image then centered on Trent. He was looking at his bandmates. "Sorry, I can't give you details, but this performance is very different from our other songs. This time we'll try a few new things. You could say we're taking a great risk in the semifinal, but if we want to improve our play, we need to take some risks."
The interview then went back to Duncan, who rolled his eyes, "A final message?, Ok, don't take your eyes off our performance. We'll kick those Lame-tonics and Loser's muse ass and get our pass to the final. Just wait."
As the interview ended, Trent took his acoustic guitar and smiled. It was time, without looking back he said. "You're late."
Duncan and B were standing just behind him. "What the heck Elvis, did you see the future? How did you know we were here?" replied Duncan who tried to snake behind him.
"I just had hope," said Trent smiling, "Let's go. We had a war to win."
War of the bands 6th challenge third band: Black Unicorn
"Now it's time to hear the last band of the night. They choose a classic singer and as Canadian as he can be, Bryan Adams, and the song is his timeless classic 'All for love[3]', released in 1993. They're The Black Unicorn. Let's hear them," said Topher as he went off the stage.
Trent went onto the stage, followed by B and Duncan. The last was wearing a nose bandage and Justin's t-shirt. Trent, B, and Duncan began to play the song. The drums and electric guitar accompanying Trent acoustic guitar and voice.
Then Trent stopped singing, and from one side of the room, Ella began to sing the second verse, and just as she song When there's love inside I swear I'll always be strong, Cody also began to sing from the other side of the room. Both singing and walking to the stage, completing the second verse in duet.
Once on the stage, the three sang the chorus, singing each one some lines at a time, sometimes solo, and sometimes in duet. Cody's voice wasn't as trained as Ella or Trent, but had a nice tone, not high or low, complementing Trent's lower voice.
For the final part, Duncan played the solo, making a superb execution again. After him, Ella sang solo the next chorus, her voice filling the room and enthralling the public. When Trent and Cody began to sang again, the public was already cheering and singing along with them.
Once the song finished, the crowd clapped and cheered, especially the Black Unicorn fans. Izzy and Owen were particularly loud. Justin was also there, but he was only clapping with a big smile on his face, he was wearing Duncan's T-shirt, dirtied with blood.
Topher returned to the stage visible excited. "What a beautiful performance by the Black unicorn. They really tried hard to keep the feeling of the song. Let's hear what the judges have to say about it."
Lindsay took the word first, clapping quickly. "What a lovely show you planned there. At first I was like I didn't know what to expect, with Trevor, Dutch, and Ve alone on the stage. But when Cory and Bella entered the stage singing was like so wonderful and exciting, and Cory really can sing. I love it. Nice job."
Then was Chef turn, he looked serious at the stage, with a thoughtful expression. "I was surprised. I always told you and the other bands to challenge yourselves, but this time you put too much at risk. Performing with one electric guitar, one acoustic and drums, and three voices, you never did something like this on the other episodes, and I think it worked. Well done."
Finally, it was Chris turn, shaking his head and raising an eyebrow. "I don't like Cody's singing. I think you could do a better job if the plan was singing as a trio. Even then it was a good show, entertaining. The music, the entrance, Trent and Ella voices, the song you choose, it had fails but it really represents the challenge. Maybe I was wrong, and you're really winner material, just maybe."
Topher kept clapping before continuing. "And with the Black Unicorn we have ended all of the performances. Now let's call all the bands onto the stage to know who will be the first band to pass into the final. Stay with us to the conclusion of The War of the Bands, the semifinal."
War of the bands 6th round results.
"Now the remaining bands please come into the stage. It's the moment to know which group is the semifinal winner, and no, Lindsay was the midtime show. She can't win this round even if she performed," said Topher winking at Lindsay, who waved and threw a kiss to the camera.
The three remaining bands walked onto the stage, H-Tonics on the left side, Devil's Muse at the center, and Black Unicorn, who were already on the stage, at the right side.
The atmosphere was heavy. Heather glared at Taylor, Max and Mike were sweating a lot, Rock was biting his nails, Ella looked nervously at his bandmates, and Duncan was cracking his knuckles.
The public was cheering excitedly. Owen and Izzy's loud voices were easily recognized, but Zoey also did her part to support H-tonics. The cheering was so wild that Topher had to ask them a moment to announce the winner.
"This challenge was for the best Canadian song, and we're proud to see the Canadian spirits in these awesome groups. All did well, but only one can win. And be the first to advance to the final. They will become the first finalist in this War of the Bands," said Topher, pointing with his arm at each of the groups.
"And the winners of the 6th round of the War of the Bands i-"
"ARRÊTE ÇA MAINTENANT," shouts Ella, "Devil's Muse is cheating. You can not let them compete!" she was red as a tomato, and her eyes full of tears.
All the public went silent. The members of H-tonics, Devil's Muse, and even her group looked at her with wide eyes. The shy and modest Ella interrupted the award ceremony.
"Stop the transmission and go into a commercial break. NOW" ordered Kelly to the staff. This didn't go unnoticed by Don.
Trent, B, Cody, and Duncan couldn't believe it. They need to expose Devil's Muse, yes, but not like this. But it was too late, the cat was out of the bag.
"That tramp, how dare she-" said Taylor, but was interrupted by Alejandro.
"Let me do this, Taylor. That's the most absurd thing I ever heard, señorita Ella. I hope you have evidence to back up your claims. Or is that you are so desperate to win that needed to resort to this cheap trick," said Alejandro with a mocking smile.
B walked backstage and gave one of the assistants a folder. Don went quickly and took it before Kelly or Jose could touch it.
Alejandro's eyes went wide before glaring at the silent man. "You bastardo, are you betraying me, B?"
B looked at him, raising his head. "Betraying YOU? You betrayed us, Alejandro! You were my best friend, maybe we weren't popular, but we were happy and had fun. Then you changed and become obsessed with success. You hated your brother, but you become just like him," he said, his deep voice full of sadness.
"You turned your friends into criminals. You cheated using stolen technology and used your brother company to slander your rivals in a juvenile competition. You send thugs to attack and harm any opponent that the slander didn´t work. Even resort to kidnap Ella. And you dare to say I betray YOU. Tell me, who are you? Alejandro Burromuerto, my friend, had at least pride. You're only a tool working for Jose," continued B, his face full of Anger in contrast with his voice.
Alejandro blanched, then his face turned red, and his green eyes cold as ice, "Jose, is that true? What he said about slandering and thugs was your work, isn't it?"
Jose shook his head, smiling slyish, "We had a promise to deliver, Al, and your little band was struggling. I only give you a hand."
"Stop this now! Don is clear that Black Unicorn is lying to give a bad name to my daughter's band. You have to stop them," said Kelly, but Don ignored her, reading the content of the folder.
Alejandro's face darkened, his fist was trembling. But suddenly, he sighed, "You know something hermano mayor. B is right. I was the one that betrayed them and betrayed myself. Sorry Rock, Spud, Taylor, it's over.
WE DEVIL'S MUSE ACCEPT WE WERE CHEATING, SO WE'RE RETIRING FROM THE COMPETITION."
All the people gasped. Immediately the room fell silent.
"Alejandro, are you crazy? We're winning this. You can't do this to me," said Taylor, stomping her feet, her face as red as Alejandro's.
"Sorry señorita, but it's true. We fooled the audience and you," the Spaniard took a moment before continuing. "Taylor, you can't sing. The microphone you use is a custom made autotune mic that we developed using technology Jose and I stole from Sony in Montreal years ago. The harsh reality is that you can't sing. Your mother made an agreement with us. If we could turn you into a pop star, she'll help Nuevo Mundo records enter the Canadian market," said Alejandro, glaring at his brother.
"Al, Imbecil, shut up. You're ruining everything!" Said Jose, trying to run onto the stage, but stopped by the staff's members.
"T-that's, that's a lie, Mom, tell me it's a lie," Taylor looked furious at her mother, her eyes full of tears.
Kelly smiled nervously, but before she could answer, a voice from the stage did it for her.
"Sorry kid, it's true. She even bought a judge to help you win. Sorry Kelly, but it's over. I can´t keep doing this," said Chef standing up and smiling sadly.
"Chef, so you also knew she was Thomson's daughter?" said Chris, smiling smugly.
"Of course, I was there when she was born. That's why I accepted helping her, but it was wrong from the beginning. We stained this show. Kelly, let's stop now," said Chef, as he walked with the staff and into backstage.
Taylor fell on her knees, crying, "So I'm a fraud, I can't sing, it was all a lie, Alejandro?"
"The microphone only improved your voice, but you have the talent. If you stop being lazy and work hard, you'll sing just like you did on the show. I'm sure Rock and Spud will help you if you're nicer to them," said Alejandro kneeling at her side, drying one of her tears.
"Wait until we go back home. We'll not sleep until I have improved," said Taylor smiling and crying.
Alejandro kissed her tenderly on the forehead, "Sorry, mi amor, but I can't go back with you. It's time for my brother and me to pay for our crimes."
Taylor tried to run toward him, but Rock and Spud stopped her, "Alejandro, don't dare to leave me."
"I'm sorry, but believe me, I never lied to you when we were alone," said Alejandro weaving. "Rock, Spud, gracias, it was fun. You're the best and deserved to win"
"Don´t worry, dude, we get the chance to play on TV, and we end among the best three! We'll take care of everything." Said Rock in an enthusiastic voice while holding Taylor.
Spud nodded, "It wasn't fun, it was better than fun, it rocked."
Alejandro smirked, even if at the beginning he only wanted to use them, those guys were real winners. Now it was time for his curtain to go down. The show was over.
"Al, you bastard! I didn't steal the damn thing. It was you and your friend, the one with a girl name, who stole it! It wasn't me!" said Jose as security was starting to restrain him. "Keep your paws off me, you pigs. Do you know who I am?"
The Spaniard walked backstage. B running toward him, but as he opened his mouth, Alejandro interrupted him.
"I know you're going to ask why I did this. Consider it a parting gift from a former friend that you helped to find his path again. I'm sorry for everything B, good luck in the finals," said Alejandro before security took him.
B held his tears and lowered his head in respect, "Even now, I still consider you my friend, Alejandro."
While this happened, the atmosphere of the room changed completely. Nobody knew what would happen now.
"I don't have words to describe what happened. We'll have to talk with production about this," said Topher as shocked as everyone.
In the end, Kelly Thomson was ceased as a producer of the show and decided to accept Devil's Muse withdrawal without making public the reasons. It was like this, in an unprecedented event in the competition, that H-tonics and Black Unicorn reached the final stage of the War of the Bands.

After the withdrawal of Devil's Muse, the final is decided. It will be a fraticide match between the ex-members of the Drama Brothers. But for now, it's time to get ready. What will happen next? Find out next in War of the Bands.
I hope you were surprised by this chapter. I decided to go with the disqualification instead of the usual format because all the circumstances were too extreme. Also, B discourse was thought since the beginning of his plotline. I hope you liked it.
And as always, thanks for reading and I hope you like it
