Bittersweet

Chapter 51

A.N: I own nothing other than my OC's and the plot. Since the last update I was saddened to hear of the loss of Ashley. I have been working on the last chapters. My confidence with writing isn't where it used to be and it stopped me from wanting to continue.

Also, I had no idea how long it had been again since the last update. Any errors or continuity errors I apologise for.

"So, we'll have the tag match next week where Jericho attacks you with a steel chair. He could smash your knee? We find out the Doctor has you out for a few weeks – that should cover your wedding. Jericho is acting all smug, thinking if you're out for SummerSlam you'd need to forfeit the title." Stephanie explained the plan to both Jeff and Chris in her office after RAW.

"Sounds good so far." Jeff grinned.

"Who is my tag partner?" Chris asked.

"We figured we'd pair you up with Rene Dupree. We're still deliberating what the fate will be, come SummerSlam." Stephanie replied.

"What about the other aspects of the storyline?" Chris asked with a sly grin making the others laugh.

"You mean Trish?" Stephanie teased. Jeff's heart fluttered and he couldn't help but smile.

"I think a heel turn would make things interesting…" Chris stated.

Jeff chuckled. "Oh here we go…"

Chris laughed then looked at the two. "No seriously, hear me out…so I take Jeff out and Trish as ever plays the "doting girlfriend" but once Jeff returns, we face up at SummerSlam and Trish betrays Jeff so I become the WWE Intercontential champion."

Stephanie was surprised, that sounded good. "Are you sure you don't want to retire and work with creative?"

The two men laughed. Jeff admitted it did sound good. Trish was great as a heel or a face. I'd rather have her to myself but soon that will hopefully be a reality.

"What do you think Jeff?" Stephanie turned the attention to the younger Hardy.

"Yeah…it sounds really good but shouldn't we discuss it with Trish first?"

"Maybe. There's still a few weeks to go but it's definitely a good angle to your storyline." Stephanie replied.

The guys had signed the paperwork that was required. Stephanie stood up and shook their hands. "I suggest you go back to the hotel and get some rest and see you next week."

Jeff and Chris walked to the parking lot. Chris had hired a rental and offered to take them both back to the hotel.

"So…" Chris began as they headed back to the hotel. "How will Beth take the news about the postponed honeymoon?"

Jeff sighed and ran a tired hand down his face. "I know she won't be happy man – I don't give a fuck – but it's the right thing to do. We're both busy."

"That's true man. Look I know the last few months have been tough and Mel would kill me for this! If you are really happy with Beth then that's all that matters." Chris replied sincerely as they stopped at a set of traffic lights.

Jeff smiled slightly. "Thanks man…I appreciate it."

The two continued on, tired and in silence, back to the hotel. Should I tell them? Should I tell Trish? I don't want to hurt her more than I already have.

Phil was back in the locker room after getting the all clear from the Trainers. A few bruised ribs but nothing he'd have trouble handling. The others had left to the hotel which left him alone. He was still seething at what Liam had pulled earlier that night. He wandered over to his cubbyhole and gathered his belongings. He smiled when he saw the message on his cell phone:

Hey, I miss you too. I wish I had just listened to you Phil. You were right about him. I'm a lot better. I can't wait to come back. I just wish I hadn't fucked this all up. X

His heart sank as he realised she would have saw the whole thing. RAW would be in Boston next week then New York, the week of Jeff's wedding. No doubt he would possibly see her at some point. He realised he hadn't told her about him and Mickie breaking up and wasn't sure if the girls had either. He typed another message and then went for a shower before heading back to his hotel room and getting a good sleep.

"So tomorrow you're meeting Beth for a final fitting. Wow." Trish said stunned as she and Amy sat on the queen sized bed in Trish's hotel room. The two best friends were having a girly night just the two of them and it was well needed.

"Yep. I can't wait. It didn't take long to get my dress shipped here." Amy rolled her eyes making her best friend giggle.

"I can't believe how close it is now." Trish replied sadly.

Amy slung her arm around her friend's shoulders. "It's okay to cry about it."

Trish had tried her damned hardest not to cry in front of Jeff but it was finally sinking in, he was going to marry her. The tears fell and she let out raking sobs.

"I wish things were different, you know I do." Amy whispered.

"W-we don't even have an idea for his bachelor party…if he really loved me Ames this wouldn't be happening." Trish sobbed.

I hate him for being with Beth. I hate what this is doing to Trish.

"Trish the only way this is over is when he marries her!" Amy said making Trish stare at her friend.

Amy smiled slightly as she wiped her friend's tears away. "It ain't over yet! Now we just need to think what we could do at the bachelor party."

As if by some weird magic coincidence, Ashley's eyes lit up as an idea came into her head. The girls had been tearing their hair out on potential ideas for Jeff's bachelor party.

"I've got it!" She cried making Randy look at her like she was possessed.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" He watched her frantically type a message on her phone.

"Ssssh! I need to concentrate." Ashley scolded as she hit send.

Satisfied with her message she beamed at him. Randy just stared stunned at his girlfriend.

"I don't feel safe."

Ashley rolled her eyes as she got in bed beside him. "Forever the drama queen Randy!"

"What the hell does that even mean? Madonna, Britney and Christina?" Amy frowned at Ashley's message.

The two sat in silence, trying to work it out when Trish's eyes lit up. "Oh my God! Yes! The EMA's! Remember?"

"Oh yeah!" Realisation came across Amy's face. "They came out like brides but didn't they kiss?"

Trish smirked. "The guys might like that."

Amy grinned. "True! So they came out like brides and Madonna wore black but, how about we change it?"

Trish frowned. "How so?"

"Well since it is Jeff's bachelor party it's only natural you are the bride!" Amy squealed.

Trish beamed but inside her heart sank. If only it were true. "But what about you girls?"

"We can be bridesmaids and groomsmen! We can order fancy lingerie and flowers!" Amy replied.

Trish's smile got wider. "I love it! We could ask Alana to order the stuff."

Amy nodded. "We could even see about masks to wear to disguise ourselves. No one but Matt knows it'll be us! They will love it!"

The two girls continued to discuss their ideas for their performance for Jeff's Bachelor party.

Beth sat trying to digest the information Jeff had just told her. "So, let me get this straight…after my-our wedding (Jeff managed to hide the disgust when she corrected herself) we won't be going on our honeymoon?!" Her voice rose sharply at the end.

Jeff ran a tired hand down his face. "We just have to postpone it a few weeks."

Beth narrowed her eyes at him. "A few weeks? But then what about my…our schedules?"

"SummerSlam is a big deal and important for my career. My storyline with Chris is really boosting the ratings so it makes sense." Jeff replied.

She softened her face and walked over to him. She kissed him softly on the cheek. "I'm sorry baby. I just really looked forward to Italy."

"I know but we can still go." He lied and as much as he was angry, Jeff hated himself for doing it. He was just as no good as her.

Beth just smiled then turned back to the bed and grabbed her nightwear. "I'm gonna go for a shower and change into my nightdress."

"I showered at the arena." He yawned he was exhausted. "I'm gonna head to bed."

"Okay. I'll try not to make too much noise." She kissed him again before heading into the bathroom.

Jeff stripped off to his boxers and sighed when he heard the sound of running water. He switched off the lights and got under the covers.

You can do this man. Stay strong.

Beth sighed as she looked in the mirror – she looked tired. I need to book in for more facials. I need to look my best for the wedding.

She stepped into the shower once the water was warm and tried to ignore the nagging feelings she'd had ever since her meeting with Stella. When she first met Jeff she had no idea who he was, she was instantly attracted to him. He was completely different to the other guys she had dated in the past. Her family hated him except her sister. Her mother's face when she was introduced to him would never leave her, the sneer she had almost hid well but Beth knew all too well her opinion on him.

Those first few weeks were amazing and for once Beth forgot all about who she was – the model she had become but then her popularity had soared and fame had well and truly got to her and her agent's head. When Stella informed her about ending her marriage and how that would increase her career she couldn't stop thinking about it and how she would become the #1 in America and hopefully the World after that. Sure Jeff would be crushed but marriage wasn't forever nowadays.

She frowned when she thought of Trish and how she would no doubt run to him when they parted. That bitch! She'll be so happy.

Her frown changed to a smirk. Or would she? I mean if the man I loved had a new fiancée and married them then divorced, would I be truly happy being sloppy seconds? It is great knowing she wants what she can't have. Maybe I could extend the relationship a little? By that time she might have moved on. Then both of them wouldn't get what they wanted but I'd be living my best life.

Satisfied she stepped out of the shower and dried herself off. Slipping into her nightdress, she wandered back into the room. It was pitch dark and Jeff was lying – back to her sound asleep.

She got into bed and turned from him. She smiled as she thought of how much excitement these next few weeks would bring.
