As we walked to the entrance of the bar, Edward took my hand. He brought our joined hands up to his mouth and kissed my knuckles tenderly.
"We shouldn't go in like this if you don't mind. I'd like to tell my mom about us in private. If I don't, she'll think I kept this a secret on purpose, and that wasn't my intention." Edward looked at me and stopped walking, pondering over my words.
"You're probably right. Plus, the guys would be absolute nightmares if we were to walk in all coupled up like this."
"As long as you know I'm going home with you," I whispered, Edward's smile beaming.
"How are you going to pull that off when you will not tell her yet?
"Leave that to me," I pecked him on the lips, surprised to feel him clutch my waist, pulling me close.
"I never thought I'd have to sneak around my girl's mother at my age," Edward snickered.
"Guess I'm keeping you young," I joked, earning a smack on my ass.
"Dear God, there you guys are!" My mom leaped out of her seat, flinging around my neck.
"Thank you so much for taking care of her, Edward." She said, gripping him by the arm.
Emmett, the big boss around the shop, took one look at the two of us, narrowing his eyes before he burst out laughing.
"I bet he took great care of her, Renée." I could feel the heat rise to my cheeks rapidly, my face flaming hot and betraying me. I avoided Edward's gaze.
"Seriously, you guys didn't know he had the hots for Bella?" Emmett pressed. Edward was completely right, he was an utter nightmare.
"Hmm… Dude," Edward warned him, slight anger rising to his face.
"Hey Cullen, if you didn't want anyone to know, at least have the decency to fix your sex hair. Both of you, seriously. You've got freshly fucked written all over yourselves." Edward's eyes met mine, and we burst out laughing. Emmett was right, we were screwed.
"Oh, my God, I told you!" My mom exclaimed, holding out her hand. Sue shoved a fifty-dollar bill into my mother's hand, both of them giggling.
I narrowed my eyes at them.
"Wait, what?" I shook my head, eager to know what was going on.
"Edward is a terrible liar. Even when he's not lying, I can sense he's not telling me the whole truth. And Bella, staying with a friend? Showing up the next day with donuts at work? The lingering glances and pining looks? Come on, I wasn't born yesterday."
"I guess the cat's out of the bag now," I shrugged.
"Let's drink to that, shall we?"
