"I can't wait for Astronomy" I squealed excitedly.
"We'll be there in a few steps" pointed out Athena. "It's literally right there."
"I just love Astronomy" I happily sighed.
"We know" Neville and Athena both huffed in annoyance.
What? I just really like astronomy okay.
"See look we're here" said Athena.
Athena, Neville, and I walked to our seats where Professor Sinistra greeted us with warm smiles. We were going to be spotting out the constellations and planets we could see.
She had assigned us partners.
"Ms.Blackwood and Mr.Longbottom" she announced while Neville and Athena high fives right next to me. I glared at them with jealousy.
"Mr.Finnigan and Ms.Chang."
"Mr.Malfoy and Ms.Wood."
My eyes went wide. I turned to where Malfoy was sitting next to Pugsy. She had jealousy written all of her face as she was glaring at me. Malfoy had a lazy smirk on his face, the man even had the audacity to wink at me. Fucking wink.
"Ms.Parkinson and Ms.Granger."
I almost laughed out loud. I had to cover my mouth to stop the chortles from releasing from my mouth. Hermione have me a hard glare and it only made me more amused. Athena was cracking up next to Neville and Neville was trying to suppress his laughter as well.
Professor Sinistra babbled on about the assignment and continued to read out the list of partners. When she was done I walked reluctantly walked over to Malfoy who was hunched near the telescope.
It was fairly dark outside since it was daylight savings. The sky was dark enough so that you could see the stars and the moon was a quarter way full.
"Let's just get this over with" I said looking into the telescope.
"I see" I said changing toe position of the telescope. I scanned the sky when I spotted Saturn. "Saturn." I moved the telescope slightly to the right. "Uranus and Neptune."
"Let me try" he insisted as I rolled my eyes to let him look through the telescope. "Oh I think I see Sagittarius."
"I'm a Sagittarius" I commented, laughing a little at the coincidence.
He continued to look throughout the sky, spotting Aquila, Capricornus, and Scutum.
"Can I try again?"
I'm not going to lie, I was having a rather great time.
Maybe it's just the love of Astronomy talking.
He let me go and take another look through the telescope. "I see Scorpius."
I moved the telescope to the left side since we had been looking at the right side of the sky. I turned and zoomed out a little on the sky.
A dragon made of stars.
"Draco" I breathed.
"Yeah?" he asked.
"Sorry I was talking about the constellation" I giggled a little bit.
Draco Malfoy was in awe when she had said his first name instead of his last name. He didn't know how to respond so he just said one word.
The disappointment he felt when he had learned she was just saying the constellation he was named after was immense. It was expected though, what reason would she have to finally start calling him by his real name. It wasn't like he called her Adeleine.
He did like the sound of his name rolling of her tongue. He could get used to it. Like music to his ears. When her sweet, gentle, honey filled voice said his name, he could've died a happy man.
"Where?" he asked.
"Come here" I waved him over to the telescope.
He was crouching right next to me at the eye of the telescope. I positioned him right where I wanted and had my hands on his shoulders.
"Do you see it?"
"No."
I looked through the telescope which was not facing the constellation Draco. I moved it to the left and down a bit.
"Okay look now" I said making him turn to face me.
His features were softened and he wasn't wearing that god awful smirk he always wore. He looked sweet, we already knew he was handsome, but right then and there he looked like a nice person.
His eyes were grey like the mountains and had flecks of white like the stars. I always thought his eyes were peculiar since in the light you could see that they sometimes had a sort of blue color to it.
My eyes were a blue. A sapphire blue.
At least that's what Oli always said.
"I see it" he smiled. A genuine smile.
It made me smile.
"Hmm I never knew you had a dimple on your left cheek" I noticed, not meaning to say it out loud.
"Something you like?" he asked still looking at the constellation.
Thank god he couldn't see my cheeks getting pink.
"Maybe" I said in a quiet voice which caused him to look up from the telescope.
His mountain grey eyes pierced into my sapphire blue. He stared at me with shock for a second, but then his face began to soften.
He smirked.
Always gotta ruin it, doesn't he.
"You look better when you don't smirk. You should try smiling more" I commented.
"I'll consider it" his eyes softened and the smirk disappeared.
Silence.
Awkward.
I turned away because I didn't want to meet his eye anymore. I walked back to the telescope, observing the constellation again.
"I don't understand how they call this a dragon" I said. "Anyone would think this was a cliff" I laughed causing Draco to chuckle a little bit.
And I don't mean the constellation.
"I guess, but the 'cliff' looks a bit like a wing."
"Barely" I muttered.
"Look Ursa Major" I pointed as I scoped out the telescope a little more.
He came behind me, putting his arm on my should to look at Ursa Major with me. I really wish it didn't, but shivers were sent down my spine.
I shivered a little, caused by his touch which he noticed.
"Are you cold?" he asked.
"No" I shook my head.
"You just shivered, here" he gave me his robe.
"Oh no keep it" I pushed it back to him.
"Just take it."
"Okay."
Slowly, I put his robe on mine. It covered my Ravenclaw emblem and replaced it with a Slytherin. I wasn't cold anymore.
"You look nice in green" he gave a small smile and turned back to Ursa Major.
God damn, if my cheeks weren't pink from the cold I think he would've noticed I was blushing profusely. Stupid cheeks.
"Look it's the Big Dipper" he pointed out since it was a part of Ursa Major. "Wow."
"At least Ursa Major looks somewhat like a bear" I remarked.
"Yeah."
Jesus fuck.
Stop looking at me like that Malfoy.
Stop.
Please.
God.
Merlin fuck.
Those eyes.
Stop.
He turned around to face me. His features were soft, his skin was pale. Glowing in the moonlight under the stars. His lips were pink and they were in a small smile. Not a smirk like always.
I was wearing his robe so he was wearing a white button down shirt, long sleeved with a black pair of trousers and a grey vest. His green tie for Slytherin was tied perfectly and he just looked so beautiful.
Draco Malfoy was happier than he had been in a long time. Adeleine Wood was talking to him like a regular person. Their first real civilized conversation.
God she was beautiful.
Her brown hair flew past her shoulders a little bit. She was wearing her robe which fit her perfectly and then his which were more baggy since he was a lot taller. She was drowning in robes.
She was smiling because of her love of astronomy. Her bright face could light up any room. Her voice was so gentle and as sweet as honey. Her lips were full and pink. Her eyes were a beautiful shade of sapphire blue, they were sapphires themselves. Her skin was a porcelain and was glowing under the stars.
It was where she belonged. Under the stars.
Her happy place.
"Okay class we are wrapping up. Please give your parchments to me" Professor Sinistra yelled making us break our eye contact.
I shuffled awkwardly to grab the parchment with all of our observations, but at the same time he was reaching for it as well.
Our hands met and at first I thought it was static electricity, but it wasn't. It was those cheesy sparks that she always felt when they touched. Those fireworks that were set of in her stomach releasing the caged butterflies that were longing to be released.
"Oh here" I said handing him the parchment and picking up my bag.
I sprinted out of the class, letting Malfoy hand in our work. I caught up with Athena and Neville who were ahead of me and walking back to Gryffindor tower.
"Hey guys" I said as Athena and Neville were whispering to each other.
"Oh hey Addy" waved Neville as they immediately stopped whispering.
"Whatcha talking about?"
"Oh nothing, just the Astronomy homework" Athena said almost to quickly.
"We don't have astronomy homework Athena" I eyes her skeptically. Athena wasn't the best secret keeper, let me tell you that. If you grilled her enough she would break, eventually.
"I meant the homework I'm missing" she laughed awkwardly as Neville proceeded to cough. She rubbed the back of her neck looking at Neville as if signaling for help. "You know me" she pointed at herself in a strained voice, "never doing my homework."
"Believe me I know" I said. "I give you my homework all the time."
"It's just pay for being an awesome friend" Athena joked.
"I don't think friends are supposed to be payed" I snickered at her joke.
"I just do that great of a job."
"Yeah you do Athena" I wrapped my arm around her squeezing her to my side tightly.
"Okay now I want in on this" said Neville who was watching us hug while walking.
With open arms we invited Neville into our hug which he squashed us since he was so tall.
We walked back to our common rooms, saying our goodbyes to Neville.
"So I saw you getting cozy with Malfoy" Athena teased.
"We were just looking at the constellations" I brushed it off.
"You definitely had stars in your eyes" she mumbled under her breath.
I chuckled and fell into a deep sleep, dreaming about those mountain grey eyes with blue flecks and sparkling stars.
