Secrets come out
It was just another day for Stacie Conrad as she was preparing to leave her job. Stacie was currently working a Biochemist Research Scientists in a research facility in downtown LA. She finished cleaning up her lab station and hung up her coat before walking towards her car. She hoped that traffic wasn't bad as she had plans to meet up with her wife Beca Mitchell. Only people didn't know that the two were married, only few people knew that they were even together to begin with. Beca, who was currently the most sought out producer, happened to be most private celebrity. Beca was so private that there were things her own team didn't know about like the marriage.
Stacie and Beca had been married for the past three years after Beca had proposed during their annual anniversary vacation. The two got married in secret with only close family and close friends being able to attend. They kept the list of people to under fifty and had the ceremony in Punta Cana. The secret marriage and relationship meant that Beca would have to give off single vibes in public, something that Stacie didn't mind but still worried about from time to time. Beca would always put her ring on a necklace and when asked she'd simply say it was a family heirloom that was very special to her. To everyone Stacie was simply her best friend.
The two were used to this act by now. They both knew that when in public there would be no affection meaning no hand holding, hugging, linking arm or fixing each other's hair. They'd simply act like friends to not give the paparazzi any ideas whatsoever.
Stacie had just sat down in her car and was about to start it up when her phone rang. She didn't recognize the number but picked up just in case it was a phone from Beca's office.
"Hello?" Stacie answered.
"Hi, is this Anastasia Conrad?" A female voice said.
Stacie furrowed her eyebrows at her full name "Yes this is her."
"Hi, I'm calling from Los Angeles Memorial in regard to a Rebecca Mitchell. She was admitted a few moments ago after a car accident and you were listed as both her emergency contact and next of kin." The female said.
Stacie's heart dropped at those words "Oh my god is she okay?" Stacie asked worriedly.
"She's currently in the ER. That's all I can say over the phone, sorry." The female said.
"I'll be right there. Thank you." Stacie said as she hung up and quickly started the car.
Stacie quickly steps on it and tries her best to weave through traffic carefully to get to the hospital as soon as possible. She can't phantom the thought of something serious happening to her wife. Stacie has a thousand different thoughts going on in her head and most of them are not pretty, she keeps trying to get them out, but her nerves are making it hard. She just hopes that Beca has minor scratches and a few bruises.
Exactly fifteen minutes later after going twenty-five over the limits she parks before sprinting towards the ER doors. She scans for the front desk before reaching it.
"I got a call about a Beca Mitchell." Stacie says frantically.
The receptionist looked up at her "One moment." Then down at her computer typing in some letters.
Stacie took a deep breath "Come on its Beca fucking Mitchell don't act like you don't have that room number mesmerized." Stacie said losing her cool.
The receptionist was about to speak when a voice cut into their exchange "Stacie?"
Stacie snapped her head to her right and came into contact with Beca's manager and Beca's PR. Stacie quickly walked over to them.
"TJ, Bayley what happened? Where is she?" Stacie said quickly.
Bayley put a hand on her shoulder and gave it a squeeze "She's still being checked in the ER."
"We um we were following her after we went to grab a quick bite and some car came out of nowhere and rammed into the driver side." TJ said sadly.
Stacie let a couple of tears fall as her body began to tremble from holding it all in.
"Come here, everything's going to be fine." Bayley said bringing Stacie in for a hug.
Stacie let more tears fall onto Bayley's shoulder as her mind is running rampant. Bayley led them to the chairs in the waiting room as that's all they can do at the moment. Stacie starts to fiddle with her ring that she has on a chain similar to Beca, something that catches Bayley's eye causing the women to smile knowingly.
About ten minutes later a doctor comes through the double doors "Rebecca Mitchell?"
Stacie instantly pops up and rushes over to the elder gentleman.
"Emergency contact?" The doctor asks.
Stacie nods "Yes sir, how is she? Can we see her?"
"Considering what I was told about the accident she is in good condition. The accident could have been a fatal one but thankfully it wasn't. It seems that despite being hit on the driver's side the actual accident didn't cause any major injuries." The doctor said causing Stacie, TJ and Bayley to let out a breath of relief.
"Beca however did suffer a few cracked ribs, minor bruising in her left leg, a fractured left ankle, cuts on her left arm and a few on her face nothing that would leave any scarring, a fractured left wrist and a mild concussion. It may seem like a lot but remember accidents like this one 9/10 times result in fatalities." The doctor said.
"She's going to need to stay for observation, right?" Stacie asked.
The doctor nodded "Correct, just until we are sure everything is going good and mainly for that concussion. We want to make sure it doesn't get worse and lead to anything serious."
Stacie nodded "Can we see her?"
The doctor smiled "Of course, the three of you can follow me."
The doctor lead them into a room that had "Mitchell, B." Written on a piece of paper.
"She heavily insisted on Beca and not Rebecca." The doctor said with a chuckle causing everyone to laugh.
Stacie quickly ran to her wife's side as soon as the doctor opened the door.
"Becs!" Stacie said as she stood next to Beca and gave her a hug.
Beca let out a hiss causing Stacie to quickly let go like she got burned.
"Shit, I'm so sorry I didn't hurt you, did I?" Stacie asked frantically.
Beca chuckled "It's ok Stace, just my ribs are killing me. But I'll be good as new. Eventually." Beca mumbled that last part.
Stacie with a lot more caution bent down and gently put a hand on Beca's face and smiled before giving her wife a soft kiss.
"You scared the living hell out of me Mitchell." Stacie said resting her forehead against Beca's.
"I'm sorry." Beca said back.
"I thought." Stacie said before taking a deep breath "I thought, I don't even know. I had so many thoughts in my head and most of them weren't good." Stacie said sadly with tears still trickling down her cheeks.
Beca brought a hand up slowly to wipe the tears from her cheeks "Hey look at me." Beca says softly making Stacie look her in the eyes "I'm alive Stace, I'll be ok. Injuries heal."
Stacie brought her in for another kiss but this one was longer, and it was gentler. Almost to assure to each other that it was going to be ok. They got so lost in the kiss that they forgot they had company until someone cleared their throat.
"Dam I forgot." Stacie whispered.
The two turned their head back around and saw TJ raising his brow while Bayley stood their smirking.
"Hey guys." Beca says awkwardly.
"Didn't mean to interrupt but how you feeling?" TJ asks still raising his eyebrows.
"I'll be fine TJ, thanks." Beca says.
It's quite for a bit with the four of them just staring at one another not really knowing what to say.
"Yeah, so about this." Beca says awkwardly trying to break the silence.
"Yes, something you'd like to share with the class." Bayley jokes with a knowing smirk.
"You knew?" Stacie asks.
"I saw you playing with the ring, same thing Beca does. I saw how you were reacting, and I put two and two together while we were in the waiting room." Bayley said.
"You two are married?" TJ asks.
"Yeah, for three years." Beca replies.
Beca and Stacie tell them everything from when they started dating, to the proposal, the secret ceremony and their plan on how they've kept it a secret.
"We just want to keep it a secret. At least for the time being. I don't Stacie to get caught up with any drama, she has too much going for her career wise and I don't want anything to distract her." Beca said.
Bayley smiled "Of course Beca. I'll do my absolute best to make sure it stays that way. Although good job on keeping so dam lowkey."
"Thanks Bay." Beca smiles.
"Well, we will leave you two alone. Just call if you need anything please." TJ says before walking out with Bayley.
"Well, that's two less people we have to hide from." Beca says.
Stacie pulls up a chair and holds Beca's hands "I'm sorry I just got caught in the moment."
"It's ok baby girl." Beca smiles.
"You sure you're okay? You're not just saying that to make me feel better?" Stacie asks.
Beca smiles "Baby listen to me, I am fine ok? I promise you I'm fine. I'm alive and I can still spend my life with you, that's all I really need." Beca says softly.
Stacie smiles "I love you."
"I love you too." Beca says.
