Korra was the first to attack by throwing a flare at him, but Shredder moved aside to avoid it before sending an air current to the Avatar. Korra deflected the current with her own airbending and then threw a fairly large disk of earth at him, but Shredder destroyed the stone with his claws before wrapping them in air and sending out several waves of biting wind.

Korra moved quickly to dodge the attacks, although the last one passed so close to her that it cut off some of her hair. She then proceeded to throw several fireballs from her fists and kicks, but Shredder dodged half of them while deflecting the others with his airbending.

She then manipulated the water to send a stream of water to him, but Shredder used the airbending to jump on the attack, with his claws ready as he fell towards the Avatar, but she immediately rolled on the ground to avoid him before erecting a column of earth from the ground that hit Shredder in the chest, making him retreat.

Korra took advantage of that moment to send a combined air and fire attack, causing an explosion. While the explosion was powerful, it only caused Shredder to be pushed back, revealing that he had covered himself with his gauntlets that had the aftermath of the explosion.

"It seems I underestimated you, Avatar. Rest assured; I won't do it again." Shredder said.

Shredder rushed toward her using his airbending to accelerate his speed.

Korra tried to hit him by raising several columns and earthen walls, but Shredder nimbly dodged all attacks. In the end, Shredder managed to get close to the Avatar and kick her in the side.

Korra quickly recovered and threw another flare at him which he neutralized with his airbending before running towards her to try and cut her off. Although Korra jumped backwards, the cut managed to reach her clothing, leaving a small opening.

Korra was surprised at how close she was to being injured as she looked at the cut of her garment, but that was a big mistake, as Shredder approached her and delivered a series of blows before kicking her, sending her backwards, falling to the ground with a whimper.

"And you were destined to be the Avatar? How ridiculous." said Shredder.

Korra quickly got up and threw several ice spikes at him which he blocked with his gauntlets, digging into them, and then smashing them to pieces. She then threw an air current at him to push him away from her, but even though she managed to do so for a few seconds, Shredder jumped up and, once in the air, used the airbending to propel himself like a rocket toward the Avatar.

Korra erected a wall to try to protect herself, but Shredder stretched out his leg which not only destroyed the wall but also hit Korra in the face, bringing her down with a whimper.

Korra tried to get up as a line of blood came out of her mouth as Shredder approached her.

"I'm tired of playing." Shredder said before kicking her in the chest, knocking her down a little further. "It's time to end this."

Korra could only stare in fear at the man who slowly approached her with the intention of finishing her off. She tried to get up to defend herself, but the blows she had suffered in the fight had hurt her enough, but she had to do something, she couldn't let someone like him get away with it.

MOMENTS BEFORE THE FIGHT BETWEEN KORRA AND SHREDDER

Leo and Tiger Claw continued to exchange blows with their sharp weapons until they repelled each other, but Tiger Claw was quicker to act than Leo and rushed to him before kicking and knocking him down.

Karai jumped from behind him, but Tiger Claw turned around in time for his weapons to collide. Both were pushing the other with all their might, but Karai decided to take advantage of his size and snake-like agility to duck quickly.

That was so sudden that Tiger Claw stumbled a little and before he stabilized, Karai hit him in the chest and kicked him under the chin which sent him into the spiritual zone of the city.

"Are you all right?" Karai asked, approaching his brother.

"I'm fine, but I'm a little worried about Korra." said Leo.

"Understandably, I didn't see Shredder anywhere on the way here." said Karai.

"It's very likely that they've met." Leo said as he began to worry more about his friend's possible situation.

"In that case, go help her. I'll take care of Tiger Claw." said Karai.

"Will you be all right on your own?" Leo asked his sister worriedly.

"I'll be fine, don't worry." said Karai.

Leo gave her a smile before running away to look for his friend and hoping it wasn't too late.

Karai turned around in time to see Shredder leaving the spirit zone while he removed some vines from his body.

"You must be crazy if you think you can beat me alone." said Tiger Claw.

"I get that a lot." Karai said before running to him.

Tiger Claw pulled out his gun and started shooting in places where Karai would be, but she managed to avoid all the shots, but one of those shots caused the area to freeze over just as Karai dodged it, causing her foot to get caught in the ice.

Tiger Claw took advantage of that moment to throw himself at her with the intention of cutting her with his machete, but Karai used her own sword to free herself and escape before the mutant tiger's machete landed on her.

Tiger Claw began to launch several cutting attacks in succession and Karai had no choice but to dodge them all. As soon as he found the moment, the mutant tiger swept his leg through the kunoichi's, causing her to fall back to the ground.

Tiger Claw laughed as he raised his machete and lowered it directly towards her, but Karai managed to stop the weapon by squeezing it in her hands. The evil laughter of the mutant tiger continued as he put more force into it, bringing his weapon closer and closer to the kunoichi.

Raph lunged at Fishface with his prepared sais, but the mutant fish blocked them with his blade. Mako took advantage of that to get closer and hit him with a fist of fire, but the mutant fish jumped up to dodge him and kicked them both with his metal feet.

Seeing Mako as a major problem, Fishface lunged at him to crush him with his metal feet, but Mako rolled to one side to dodge him where a hole formed from the heavy stomping. Acting quickly, Mako threw a horizontal wave of fire at him, but Fishface managed to dodge the attack, though that left him open to Raph's horizontal kick.

Mako began throwing a series of fireballs while Raph threw some shurikens to go with it. Fishface dodged some of these attacks, but seeing that he couldn't continue like this, especially with an opponent like Mako, he decided to change strategy and jumped into the water.

Raph and Mako ran to the edge of the wooden dock on the lake and tried to find it, but unfortunately, they couldn't see anything.

"Damn it. I hate it when he does that." Raph said.

"We should have expected it." said Mako, realizing the terrain they were on and the opponent they were facing.

They were so focused on what was in front of them that it was too late when Fishface jumped from under the pier, right behind them and pushed them both into the water. The mutant fish pushed them deep into the water before letting them loose.

Before they had a chance to swim up, Fishface started swimming in multiple directions, hitting the mutant turtle and the firebender every time he passed by. Then, with a strong uppercut, he sent them both flying out of the water and rolling onto the docks.

Mikey and Bolin continued to fight Rahzar. Mikey was trying to hit him with his nunchucks, but Rahzar took some hits before he hit him. Then Bolin formed a column under him, throwing him into the air, but Rahzar regained his balance and landed on a building before hurtling towards the earthbender who rolled out of the way of his claws.

Rahzar was about to cut him with his claws, but a chain wrapped around his hand. He turned his head to see that the cause was Mikey.

"It's time you learned to behave." Mikey said.

Rahzar grunted before throwing his arm forward, pulling Mikey and causing him to crash into Bolin.

The mutant turtle and the earthbender rose in time to see Rahzar walking toward them with his claws ready.

Using lavabending, Bolin manipulated the ground to leave the mutant dog on a piece of land with a large lava pit around it.

"Let's go!" Bolin shouted before leaving the area with Mikey.

"If you think a little lava is going to scare me, you're very much mistaken." Rahzar said before taking a jump powerful enough to get to the other side of the pit and start chasing them.

Their chase had led them into the pro-bending arena, where they hoped to get the upper hand on the family stage, but Rahzar was on their heels at every corner and room they passed. In the end, the two arrived at the playing fields, stopping to catch their breath.

"Did we throw him off?" Mikey asked.

Just as he asked that question, Rahzar jumped from the VIP box to the grounds.

Mikey was the first one to jump at him with his nunchucks and Bolin tried to use his earthbending, but then, he realized something very important.

"Damn it! I forgot that this isn't earth!" Bolin said, realizing his fatal error.

Mikey set about dodging the continuous claw attacks of the mutant dog. He tried to jump away, but Rahzar caught him by the leg with his mouth before shaking him like a rag doll before throwing him at Bolin, knocking them both down.

Before they could get up, Rahzar lunged at them and pinned them down with a claw as a sinister smile formed on his face.

Stockman tried to hit them with his robotic arm, but both the mutant turtle and the engineer proved to be very agile in dodging it.

Donnie tried to hit him with his staff, but blocked the attack with his robotic arm and pushed him away.

Asami tried to electrocute him with her electrified glove, but when she touched his armor, it seemed that the electricity didn't affect him at all.

"Watch out!" Donnie shouted, hurling himself at Asami to get her out of the way of an incoming robotic fist.

"Hahaha. Deluded foolzzzz. A few zzzzparkzzzz won't hurt me." said Stockman taking a couple of steps toward them. "And once we kill the current Avatar, the new Avatar will provide uzzzz with what we need to get an unzzzztoppable army. We will be the kingzzzz of the world."

That activated a nerve in Asami and released a cry of rage as she rushed toward the mutant fly. Stockman tried to crush her under his robotic fist, but the engineer dodged it and jumped on the robotic arm before running directly to where Stockman was leaning and kicked him directly in the face, knocking him down in the process.

"Wow. Remind me not to make you angry." Donnie said.

"I can't stay here. Korra could be in danger." said Asami worried about her girlfriend.

"Then go find her. I'll be fine." Donnie said.

Asami wanted to say no, but she couldn't help but worry about Korra, especially when she had no idea of her or Shredder's current location and didn't want Korra to face someone like that alone. Besides, she trusted Donnie enough to know that he could handle the mutant fly.

"It's okay." said Asami, agreeing before leaving the area in search of her girlfriend and hoping it wasn't too late.

Donnie turned around to see Stockman get up again.

"Perfect. Thizzzz will make my job eazzzzier." Stockman said.

Donnie jumped on him to try to hit him with his staff, but Stockman blocked him again with his robotic arm and pushed him back. Before he could think of doing anything, Stockman threw several missiles at him from his suit.

Donnie was able to dodge most of them, but one managed to hit him, throwing him into a Satomobile, causing a huge dent in the impact zone.

"Ugh. I hope Asami doesn't get upset about this." Donnie said, groaning in pain.

April threw her tessen towards Rocksteady who deflected it with a blow from his hammer, but April used her powers to move her spinning tessen back to the mutant rhino like a boomerang, but, although she managed to hit him, she didn't make a scratch.

Ikki threw several air currents from her fists and kicks, but all they did was push him backwards. It was like hitting a mountain.

"Ha. Are you done playing? Then it's my turn to play." said Rocksteady before charging towards them.

The two girls stepped aside in time to avoid the onslaught of the Foot mutant, but Rocksteady stopped to turn and continue his charge toward April. Ikki quickly created an air scooter to move toward April and rescue her before she suffered a goring from the mutant rhino.

While they were recovering, Rocksteady took advantage of that moment to hit them with his arm, which was strong enough to knock them down.

"Dah. You can't beat Rocksteady's strength." Rocksteady said before charging toward them to deliver the final blow.

But before he could get any closer to their, Leatherhead tackled him, picked him up and threw him away from them.

"Leatherhead!" said Ikki happy to see her friend.

"Are you all right?" asked Leatherhead.

"We're fine. Yes." said April as both girls got up.

"You're behind. I'll take care of him." said Leatherhead walking toward the mutant rhino that was recovering from the surprise attack.

"You are strong. Let's see who's the strongest." said Rocksteady.

Both mutants looked at each other before charging at each other.

Meelo used his airbending to move faster and dodge the Bebop laser shots.

"Hahaha. That's it, kid. Show me your dance steps." Bebop said as he laughed at the young airbender's situation.

"Goongala!" shouted Casey from the side as he skated toward him.

However, every time he swung his bat toward him, the mutant pig dodged him as if he were dancing. They were like this for a few seconds until Casey, seeing his opportunity, used his hidden taser to electrocute him. Although he didn't knock him down, he did cause some damage.

"Okay. It's time to level up." Bebop said before launching a mohawk projectile.

Casey dodged a couple of those projectiles, but the next one was aimed at his feet, causing an explosion that sent him crashing into Meelo, and both were knocked down.

"Oh, yeah! Normally I'd take care of it, but I'd rather leave your death in the hands of these guys." Bebop said just as six foot-bots surrounded the two boys with their weapons ready to attack.

The two boys were ready to fight, but they didn't have to when a morning star crushed all the foot-bots, courtesy of Slash.

"Do you need a hand, friends?" Slash asked with a smile.

"Slash!" said Meelo happy to see an ally.

"You've come at a good time, buddy." said Casey, giving the mutant turtle a thumbs up.

"Hey, you! You don't have a pass to this dance." said Bebop.

"Sure, I do. I can show it to you if you want." said Slash turning his morning star for emphasis before diving into the mutant boar.

Kuvira, Opal and Jargala quickly stepped aside to avoid Haktauro's onslaught, which crashed into a wall in the process.

"Okay, we have to..." Kuvira began.

"You do NOT give me orders!" said Opal before hurling herself at the mutant bull.

"Wait!" said Kuvira trying to warn her, but it was too late.

Opal ran towards Haktauro and threw an air current at him with the intention of knocking him down, but it proved to be strong enough to withstand the force of the wind. Haktauro tried to cut her with his sword, but Opal used the airbending to jump over the incoming sword.

Taking advantage of the fact that she was in the air, she went to the face of the mutant bull and gave it a horizontal kick. But when she thought she had the advantage, it turned out that she was wrong, as Haktauro grabbed her leg and hit her on the ground.

Haktauro lifted his sword with deadly intent, to the horror of the airbender and it would have been the end of her if not for a metal plate that wrapped around her wrist and dragged her away from the impact zone where a huge crack formed.

When she felt her dragging was over, Opal looked up to discover, to her dismay, that her savior was Kuvira.

"Be more careful." Kuvira said.

"I haven't asked for your help!" said Opal, standing up and looking at her with a scowl.

"No, but you needed it!" said Kuvira.

"Yes, but not yours!" said Opal.

"Would you listen to me? I'm trying to help!" said Kuvira, losing her patience.

"The same way you helped my family?" Opal asked, spilling the last drop of the glass.

However, a roar interrupted the discussion and they turned to see Haktauro running towards them.

"DON'T IGNORE ME!" shouted Haktauro swinging both swords in an X position towards them.

Luckily, Jargala stood quickly in front of them and with her earthbending she made a sturdy column of earth rise from the ground, hitting the mutant bull in the chest and knocking it down. Then she made a wall of earth emerge around Haktauro, acting as a prison, although she knew that this would be temporary.

Jargala turned to give both women a look that a mother gives to her children when they misbehave.

"Look. I don't know what kinds of conflicts you've had in the past, but, in case you haven't noticed, we're in a war. And even if you don't like it, we're on the same side. So, you can either keep arguing and die; or we can work together to defeat this guy and go our separate ways later." Jargala said.

The two women let the Triad leader's words sink into their minds. And it was true. Opal had let her resentment of Kuvira cloud her judgment, nearly getting her killed twice. Kuvira knew that this situation could happen, but she would have preferred it not to be on a battlefield.

"So... do you have a plan?" Opal asked, pointing out that, for the moment, he would listen to the metalbender.

Kuvira was surprised at how quickly she changed her mind, but she had to focus on the situation now.

"If we can immobilize him somehow, we might have a chance of victory." Kuvira said.

"In that case..." Jargala began before pulling out a couple of pieces of jennamite from her pocket. "I have just what we need." Jargala said with a funny smile.

At that moment, a part of the wall of earth was destroyed, with Haktauro coming out of the hole left. As soon as he put the three women in his view...

"YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS!" shouted Hakan before charging back to them.

However, this time they didn't move from where they were.

Jargala used the earthbending to throw the two pieces of jennamite into the area where Haktauro would later step. That caused the jennamite to extend to his knees, leaving the feet of the mutant bull stuck to the ground, preventing him from taking another step.

Haktauro was about to use his swords to free himself, but Kuvira used the metalbending to manipulate several metal plates, forming two plates big enough to wrap around the wrists of the mutant bull and then, with a movement of arms, the wrist plates were joined, acting something like handcuffs.

Finally, Opal ran towards the restricted mutant bull and with the airbending, jumped upwards, giving it an uppercut under the chin, and then kicked it horizontally.

Due to the force of the kick and the size and weight of Haktauro, the ground around the mutant's hooked feet was raised in the form of platforms, allowing the mutant bull to fall backwards onto the unconscious ground.

"Ja. As they say: the bigger, the harder the fall." said Opal, placing her hands on her hips.

"We can't stay here. We have to go and help others." said Kuvira.

"I'll stay here to make sure our friend doesn't get up." said Jargala.

Kuvira nodded before running away from the area.

"Kuvira!" a call made her stop. She turned her head slightly to see that it was Opal who had called her. "Thank you... for saving me earlier." Opal said.

Without responding, Kuvira continued her run, although neither could notice that the other was smiling in appreciation of the other.

Jinora jumped aside to avoid a sword cut from the Chrome Dome. Kai threw him an air current, but the Chrome Dome moved aside to avoid him before firing lasers from his eyes, but even though he managed to avoid it, he can't stop one of those shots from grazing his shoulder, making him moan in pain.

"Kai!" Jinora said, looking at her boyfriend's situation before running to him. "Are you okay?"

"Yes. Don't worry, but I have to admit it's harder than I thought." said Kai.

"Same here. My father told me he had complications with one of them before." Jinora said.

The Chrome Dome threw both of them a whiplash, but they jumped on both sides to avoid it. However, that left Jinora open, allowing the Chrome Dome to launch himself with the rockets from his feet activated toward her, with his sword ready.

But before he reached her, a kind of invisible force hit him, sending him crashing into the wall.

Both young airbenders looked up to see Rockwell floating down to them.

"You seem to be in trouble." said Rockwell.

"Rockwell." said Jinora, surprised by the arrival of the mutant monkey.

"Do you think you can handle him?" asked Kai, approaching them.

"My friend, while we were talking, I calculated the fastest way to defeat him based on his programming." said Rockwell.

"What?" asked Kai in confusion.

"You watch." said Rockwell somewhat disappointed before he concentrated on the Foot robot that was getting up.

Once again, the Chrome Dome activated the rockets on his feet to quickly propel himself towards the mutant monkey, but Rockwell was prepared for this and using his powers, kept the Chrome Dome paralyzed in mid-air. Then, joining both hands together, he sent a psychic explosion powerful enough to destroy the Chrome Dome's chest, leaving him falling inert to the ground.

Needless to say, the two young airbenders were impressed by the powers of the mutant monkey.

"Wow. That was amazing." said Kai.

"Thank you, young man." said Rockwell.

"Rockwell, do you know how the others are doing?" Jinora asked.

"I'm sorry, I don't know about the others, but I felt Karai confronting Tiger Claw just a few streets away, near the spirit zone of the city." explained Rockwell.

"What, is she facing that guy by herself? I have to help her!" Jinora said before running in that direction.

"Wait, Jinora! I'm sure she can handle it on her own!" said Kai trying to stop his girlfriend.

"No! She needs me!" said Jinora as she walked away.

"What was that for?" asked Kai in confusion.

"Oh, she's just going to help a friend." said Rockwell, leaving the young airbender even more confused.

Kya created a pair of water whips to grab the Chrome Dome, but the advanced robot used his own whip to counteract them. She then sent a series of ice icicles, but the Chrome Dome dodged half of them while the other destroyed them with his sword.

The Chrome Dome was about to launch himself at the waterbender when something made his feet bury themselves in the ground and then a metal whip was wrapped around his neck, courtesy of Lin.

"Now!" Lin shouted, giving the signal.

Kya took the opportunity the police chief gave her and created two water rings that he threw at the advanced robot as if they were frisbees, which caused the Chrome Dome to be broken into three parts.

"We make a good team." Kya said as the police chief approached her.

"I agree." said Lin.

While they had already taken care of their Chrome Dome, Bumi, who was alone, was having trouble coping with hers.

The Chrome Dome began firing lasers from his eyes, and Bumi dodged them by running back and forth. Then he tried to hurt him with a sharp wave of wind, but the Chrome Dome stepped aside to dodge him before lunging at him with his sword raised.

Fortunately, Bumi dodged the attack before it reached him and sent an air current that pushed him away.

"Gee, for a machine, he's pretty good." Bumi said.

"Resistance is useless. Starting the elimination." said the Chrome Dome.

Bumi was about to answer that when he saw something in the sky that made him smile.

"You're right, but it would be yours." Bumi said.

The Chrome Dome was confused by this. That's when he noticed something plummeting towards him, but it was too late to avoid it and the object hit him completely, knocking him down on the floor with a small curtain of smoke.

The object moved away from the fallen body of the advanced robot, revealing itself to be Pigeon Pete, who had acted like a missile.

"This is what happens when you mess with the Mighty Mutanimals." said Pete looking proud.

Unfortunately, because he had his back to the Chrome Dome, he didn't realize he had risen, showing that he was still functional despite the large dent in his chest.

He was about to kill the mutant pigeon with his sword by taking advantage of his moment of distraction, but Bumi acted quickly and, with an axe kick, sent a wave of cutting wind that Pete noticed and dodged, letting the attack reach the Chrome Dome, which ended up split in half.

"Ha! And this is what happens when you mess with an airbender." said Bumi.

Leo and Asami were on different streets, looking on each side for Korra as they shot down any foot-bot that got in their way. They kept at it for a while until they ended up meeting on a corner.

"Asami?" Leo asked.

"Leo? What are you doing here?" asked Asami.

"I was looking for Korra." said Leo.

"Do you know where she might be?" asked Asami.

"No and that's what worries me." said Leo.

"Then let's look for her together, it will be easier that way." suggested Asami.

"Good." said Leo, accepting the engineer's idea and the two of them went on with their search.

BACK TO THE PRESENT

Shredder was approaching the Avatar with his claws extended. Korra was trying to get up, but the pain she received prevented her from doing so. By the time she looked up in front of her, her eyes opened with fear as she saw Shredder standing in front of her.

"I have been told that the next Avatar can communicate with the Avatars of the past, but I assure you that he or she will never know that you existed." Shredder began, preparing to deliver the final blow. "This is the end of you." said Shredder as he lowered his claws.

Korra closed her eyes waiting for her end, but she didn't feel the claws of the Foot leader piercing her body, she didn't feel anything, but she did hear the claws digging into something else. When she opened her eyes, an expression of pure shock formed when she saw what had happened.

Kuvira had stood in front of her and suffered the attack for her. From her back, she could see the tip of Shredder's blood-stained claws piercing her abdominals. Kuvira's eyes were wide open as a line of blood fell from her mouth.

Shredder, slightly surprised by the intervention, recoiled a bit, pulling his claws from the metalbender who fell to the ground with a thud.

"KUVIRA!" shouted Korra in horror, crawling towards her and lifting her body slightly, with one hand on the back of her head to raise her head. "Why? Why did you do it?!" asked Korra.

"*Cough* You saved me once and I felt the need to return the favor." said Kuvira showing a weak smile before coughing a little.

"Don't strain yourself. You'll be fine." said Korra using her free hand to use the waterbending, but Kuvira stopped her by grabbing her hand.

"Listen to me, Korra. There are many things I regret, but the greatest of them... is that I couldn't have been a better friend." Kuvira said as she began to close her eyes.

"No. No." said Korra fearing what would happen.

"Tell everyone... that I'm sorry... for not being able to pay... for my actions." Kuvira said before she closed her eyes completely and her hand fell inertly to the ground.

"Kuvira? Kuvira! Wake up, please!" pleaded Korra in desperation, but there was no response or reaction. "No. No! No! NOOOOO!" shouted Korra before embracing her as she cried.

"Do you see? Do you understand now how feelings like love and compassion a weakness are?" began Shredder and Korra didn't turn to look at him, she just kept crying as she hugged Kuvira. "Those feelings drove this woman to her death. She thought she could stop me, that she could save you, only to make a mistake and seal her fate." Korra's fists tightened as Shredder continued. "Those feelings weakened her, Splinter, the turtles, and all your friends. I am stronger than they are. Anger and hatred, those are the true source of power and strength."

Meanwhile, Korra began to gasp more and more frequently as something began to come out of her, even without turning around to look at him. Shredder began to walk towards her.

"Don't worry, you'll soon be reunited with her, and then with all your friends from both worlds, including your girlfriend." Shredder said.

Before he could take another step, a strong gust of wind sent him flying backwards, falling to the ground with a groan.

"SHREDDER!" shouted Korra.

When he got up, Shredder could see black clouds starting to roll over the island, as if a storm were about to start, but what really caught his attention was that, in front of him, Korra was standing and looking at him with her eyes shining. This was a sign that she had entered the Avatar State.

"YOU WANT A FIGHT? YOU'RE GOING TO GET ONE!" shouted Korra in a voice that sounded like an echo.

AN: What? You didn't expect Kuvira, did you? Now, with Korra in the Avatar State, the fight will become more intense. Will Leo and Asami be able to find her before the fight breaks the rules? What about the others? We'll find out in the next chapter.
