=Chapter 12: Raid!=
=Hokage Mansion=
"Ne Shizune, how about some sake?"
"Tsunade-sama, wait up!" The door creaked open, revealing the untouched room of papers strewn over the desk, sake piled on the shelves and a slightly open window.
"Shizune, wasn't that window closed when we left this room?" Tsunade stormed into the room and inspected it.
Dragon looked at Hare who just looked at him back unknowingly. Hare motioned back: 'I thought I closed it, the wind maybe?' Dragon just facepalmed in annoyance. He looked around to see Bird in an awkward position on the room ceiling. He mouthed out: 'Help me!'
Dragon cursed mentally. It wouldn't be long before those two started getting suspicious about this room. And it wouldn't be long before they were found.
"Tsunade-sama, let's just grab your sakes and go somewhere else? We don't want Danzo throwing another debt on you do we?" She reached to grab the bottles of sake lined up on the old shelves, grabbing a few and walking outside of the door. The shelves sighed in relief that they wouldn't have to hold so much weight anymore. "Let's go to the lake?"
"Shizune."
"Hai..?"
"Turn on the lights."
=Mission=
Sakura was shocked at this revelation. This person next to her was 19, the same age as her, and could take on multitudes of shinobi, as long as hiding from the Great Nations! "You're joking right?"
"I mean, would I? To be honest, I'm kind of bored of trying to hide information so why not give a bit out? It will keep Danzo off of our tails for a while if he gets what he wants."
"But you know Danzo will want more information so why give it?"
"So we can annoy him, along with the other nations."
The two stayed silent for a bit more, taking in the night sky and the crickets chirping in the distance, the crackling of fire and the gusts of winds.
"You seem to have extreme trust in us not to attack right now and detain all of you."
"Because I know you can't, no matter how hard you tried," Kitsune spoke bluntly. "Last time you had the let's say, 'Nicer' part of the group fighting you. These people now are more, to put it simply, 'Destructive'."
Sakura shuddered at the thought of that, the reality still dawning on her. "Where would you guys go after this? After this mission of eliminating some A to S-Rank nin? I wouldn't like you to go terrorising other nations, you guys seem pretty calm for S-Ranked Missing-nin."
"As I said, we have a goal and we're going to pursue it. We are getting closer day by day, but I'll give you this bit." The air stood still, the world turned quiet after this. "We are going after Danzo."
"...what? I haven't seen any of his abilities first hand or even a small wind of them, but as Hokage he must have secret things under his wing."
"Oh he does alright. Many, many, many secrets. He is a corrupt man and that is part of our goal. To eliminate him, and all of his secrets."
"But what about Konoha and the innocent civilians there? Surely they would be caught in the crossfire if you did go after him?"
"Please, they're far from innocent." Sakura looked at him in shock.
"What do you mean?" she questioned, slightly concerned at this.
"I heard that they tortured a little boy for something he never knew about for many, many years of his life. That same little boy lived on the street for a year until the Sandaime intervened. He got kicked out of the orphanage at 3 years old." Sakura gasped at this. Was it true? "He was shunned by the villagers for as long as he could remember, very few actually welcomed him into their shops with stuff at the correct prices."
"What? That can't be-"
"Many other shops kicked him out for no reason, the ones that welcomed him in made things over priced or gave him out-of-date, mouldy items."
"But the villagers are the nicest people in the town? They respect us, not to mention small boys!"
"This boy was special though. I knew him as sensei. Many villagers knew him as 'demon' or 'trash' or anything along those lines. You knew him as...

...deadlast."
=Outskirts of Uzushio=
Asura sat on a tree branch overlooking his mayhem. "This is chaos, in all honesty, it looks like something Indra-nii would do." He looked back at the knocked out bodies resting on the ground. "Ah well, I may have gotten a bit carried away, I haven't had a physical body for millennia!"
"Honestly, taking out them was quite the warm up for you." He looked to the bushes and saw Naruto coming out of them. "I thought I'd have to intervene as you'd be a bit rusty 'ttebayo."
"What are you talking about? There's no way I'd lose to a bunch of emotionless freaks and... hey how'd that guy get Mokuton anyways? He's not a reincarnation of mine."
"An experiment by a snake-pedo. Or as I like to call him, Orochipedo."
"I don't get this modern way of speaking."
"You've been dead for many thousands of years and have been stuck in bodies for years, what do you expect?"
"True, but a bit harsh."
"You think I should do this to Indra too? I wonder how your brother would react to being out in the world."
"He'd tear it apart layer by layer just to vent some of his anger. So the last Uchiha huh? Seems interesting. I think I'm going to visit him, I wonder if he's missed me~"
"Well his holder is the last Uchiha, as you know already, and the last Uchiha is a good guy if you get to know him. Be careful, because he might set you on fire~"
Asura just shrugged his shoulders before setting off to find his brother, somewhere across the vast Shinobi Lands.
"Oh yeah and don't forget you can always poof out of existence and go back to- ahhh he's gone. Oh well, better return these guys then tell boss!"
And with that the clone leapt through the trees with a flash back towards the evil village that is Konoha. He set the knocked out nin back to the forest outside of Konoha, before setting off an explosion to alert the guards and poofing out of existence once more.
=Mission=
Kitsune received the memories from his clone and smirked under his hood. He loved doing this, knocking out those nin and annoying Konoha. Life was fun being a rogue, no one to tell you what to do. He continued looking into the distance, pondering, what would life be like if he had never 'died' and stayed in Konoha.
Pretty obvious really, he would be dead or be one of Danzo's goonies. Or he'd release Kurama to wreck the village. Life would be awful if that had happened, although his current way of living wasn't what he expected.
"Naruto was your sensei?" Sakura replied, shocked at this. Was it true? "When?"
"Pain. You all thought he died, but luckily for him, I was close by. I felt some large chakra outputs so I went to check it out, and I saw Konoha as a crater, destroyed and being rebuilt. I saw him throw a..." He paused for a second as if thinking. "Rasenshuriken? I think that's what it's called. Yeah, he threw it on the ground and jumped in."
Sakura froze at that memory. She vowed never to remember it, that fateful day where Danzo came into power.
"Anyways, a senjutsu Rasenshuriken can demolish a body on a cellular level, tearing them apart and leaving no trace behind." The wind stood still before slowly continuing on. "His angle of going into the blast however, didn't hurt him as much as it should've but it still had consequences. I can see you're getting quite emotional from this, should I continue?" he asked in concern.
"Continue. I want to know." She looked away and to the stars.
"His body got torn and thrown around by the blast before it exploded, sending the waves over the destroyed village, flinging his unconscious body into the sky, yet all of you were so intrigued in the main blast on the ground... no one noticed. I jumped into the trees to get him, tracing his path down to the ground before controlling the wind to soften the fall. Long story short, I saved him and he taught me everything I am now."
"I-I-I never thought he was such a good teacher."
"He taught me for a couple of months before his body finally started to fail. As his final wish, he asked me to fulfil his new found dream. Form a group of rogues and eliminate Danzo."
"Eliminate Danzo? That doesn't sound like Naruto at all!"
"Things can change extremely quickly and that is what has happened."
"How can I trust you about this? You could just be lying about everything that just happened." Kitsune said nothing but reached into his pocket and brought out a strand of blond hair. Of course, he could've offered a fresher substance but that would mess everything up.
"Can you trust me now?"
=Hokage Mansion=
The lights whirred to life in Tsunade's office, illuminating the room and the three attackers. Tsunade could pinpoint who they were from their cloaks. Each of them had a unique symbol on their hood showing their names. Dragon, Hare and Bird.
"Orange Flames... what are you doing here? In my office?" Killer intent started filling the air, a tick mark forming on Tsunade's head.
"None of your business. Bansho Ten'in." Dragon reached out to pull the two ladies towards him, but they sent chakra to their feet on instinct to stop the pull. "Bird!" His voice turned panicked.
In response, he threw two swords with "混沌" and "氷" written on the handles to Dragon and Hare. He brought out his Memory-Erasing Sword out. "We don't want to fight you or use any force to continue our goal, however to continue, we must erase your memories of this ever happening."
"And why do you think we would let that happen?" The blonde started channelling chakra to her hands, rearing it back for a punch.
"So we don't blow Konoha up," Dragon responded. This stopped forced Tsunade to think about this. How?
"And how would you blow Konoha up?"
"I'll just give a signal."
"Why you..." She stopped and thought about it. Would she rather let these three escape and not blow the village up or the opposite? She mentally sighed to herself. Why didn't anything go her way? She motioned for Shizune to go into the room and the two knelt down. "You win."
The three sighed in relief as they didn't actually have a signal to blow up the village. Bird jumped down and tapped their foreheads with the sword, knocking the two out and opening their mouths. Their memories flowed out of the mouths before Bird cut them up, removing them before the three continued down the corridors of the Hokage Mansion, jumping from wall to wall.
It wasn't long before the three reached the vault in the mansion, ANBU guards swarming the place like flies. An alarm sounded in the distance, the guards following the sound and leaving the vault with less guards. Dragon assumed it was Naruto's clone leaving a 'present' for the amazing people of Konoha. Presumably, a failed mission.
They were a few hundred meters beneath the Hokage Mountain from the passageways that took the three to the vault room. Just remembering, he slapped silencing seals in the area before he observed the situation below him. Six in total, all of them ROOT ANBU. He brought out his sword, followed by his teammates and landed in front of the guards.
The guards reacted by bringing their weapons out and sending them into a standoff. The air hung still, both parties waiting for the other to strike.
Dragon launched forward with his sword to the captains heart but was parried by the captain's own sword. The captain lunged forward this time but was blocked by Hare joining in the fight. The other members brought out their kunai and shuriken and the fight continued with Hare ducking under the incoming attacks of kunai, with Dragon grabbing one, spinning it around and re-throwing it.
"You know I don't want this present, return to sender! Multiple Shadow Kunai Jutsu!" The kunai multiplied and shot back towards the thrower, who started knocking out the incoming attack with his spare kunais. "Watch behind you!" The ANBU looked around to see Dragon with his sword, kicking the ANBU down. "Five to go!"
"Ice Style: Arrows of Ice!" Large lines of ice with four spikes, two at the top and bottom, appeared out of the air before rushing towards Hare's opponent.
"Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!" A blast of fire erupted from the ANBU, countering the Ice Arrows but not melting them. They continued on their trajectory before impaling themselves in the ANBU, killing the emotionless soul and ending their torture under Danzo. "Four to go!" Hare said in glee, completely ignoring the fact that she just killed someone.
Bird rushed into a kenjutsu fight with another ANBU, swords parrying and blows being exchanged. He re-sealed his Memory Sword and brought out another one. "First Sword: Chakra-Dweller Sword!"
"Water Style: Water Whip Jutsu!" A whip seemingly grew out of thin air, extending across the room before the ANBU held the helm of it and used it to attack Bird. He said nothing but use his sword to cut through the whip, rendering the cut off bit useless.
"My turn!" Bird jumped forward and swung his sword around, forcing the air around the room to pick up speed and power. He brought his sword down, ready to strike the ANBU.
"Earth Style: Mud Wall!" A wall rose up to block the attack but Bird cut through it with ease, and still going for the ANBU. As a final stand, the ANBU reached out for a kunai to block the attack. The sword cut straight through the kunai and cracked the mask of the ANBU, right before Bird brought his sword up and kicked the ANBU in the now-exposed face, sending them backwards into a wall.
"Three to go!" The remaining three ANBU jumped back together, guarding the vault door. One of them reached into their pockets for the 'Help!' button but their hand was cut off by a blast of wind.
"You're not getting any help down here!" Dragon channelled chakra into his right eye and opened it under his hood. "Bansho Ten'in!"
=Mission=
The pair stayed mostly silent for a few more minutes, having a little bit of small talk every now and then.
"It's a nice night isn't it. So peaceful here." Sakura was starting to get fidgety, she was getting some information but not too much. She just wanted to have some sort of friendly talk without both sides getting suspicious of the other. "Anyways..." she started. "What do you like doing?"
"Training."
Sakura mentally sighed at this. 'Well... could've been worse.' "What type of training?"
Kitsune knew she was still trying to squeeze more information out of him. He'd give away a bit more. "Fuinjutsu, ninjutsu, taijutsu, a spot of kenjutsu but I'm awful at genjutsu. I try but I fail all of the time. I train for strength, yet not to be as strong as possible but..." Sakura felt a slight sulk from this. "To protect those close to me."
"Like your group?"
Kitsune nodded. "They are many of my closest. I never really had that many people close to me."
"Surely in your previous village, where you came from, there must be some people there that you want to protect?"
"There lie some of my precious people, however I am not alive to them."
"What do you mean?"
"I don't exist. I'm dead to them, yet I still continue to watch over them. I couldn't bring myself to let them be hurt, so I watch from the shadows."
'This person's kind of stalker-ish... watching people from the shadows? Creepy...' "Why watch from the shadows when you could just go up to them and meet them? Say a friendly 'hello' and such?"
"My rank as a Missing-nin prevents me from doing that. I would love to chat with them, catch up but you kno-"
"Shift's over. My go." Kitsune was cut off by Neji behind the two. He mentally sighed. 'Someone else. Finally! I feel like I would've broken if anymore had happened!'
"It's been a while since I've talked with someone outside of my organisation. Thanks for the chat, Sakura." He did a small wave before him and Neji sat down on the tree branches on watch.
Sakura had a confused look on her face for a second before she brushed it off. Did Kitsune do something nice? Why though? And what is this weird nostalgic feeling she's getting? She felt a strange pull to this person, she wanted to pull that hood off and see who was under it; however, who knows what would happen after that?
=Hokage Vault=
"Bansho Ten'in!" One remaining ANBU got pulled towards Dragon, not being quick enough to grip on the floor with chakra.
Hare channelled chakra into her sword, giving it a cold blue glow before hitting the ANBU, freezing the body from the stomach and outwards. The frozen body hit the ground before freezing the area around it, shocking the last two members.
"Two to go!" Hare said too happily for her teammates. She looked at them who were giving her a freaked out look. "Well what are you looking at? Go and finish this job!" She looked at her latest victim before facepalming. "Oh... ah, they'll be fine! They'll thaw out in a few days!"
Bird charged at the second last ANBU and the two continued in a kenjutsu fight. Swords clashed and sent sparks flying as the two exchanged blows. Bird ducked under a slice to the head before kicking in the chest, only to be stopped by two hands that barely made it in time to stop the hits.
He jumped back before swinging his sword and planting it in the ground. In response, the ground cracked, disrupting their balance and leaving an open gap for Bird to strike. "Lava Style: Scorching Palm Wave!" He brought his hands out and pushed his palms outwards, sending lava in waves out of them and filling up the cracks in the ground. The ground erupted, heating up the room to extreme temperatures, making all of them sweat beneath their cloaks and masks.
"Ice Style: Icicle Wall!" Steam filled the air, acting as a distraction for Dragon to strike. "Fire Style: Pure Fire Dragon Jutsu!" Fire burst from the ground forming a silhouette of a great dragon before it rushed at the defenders, burning them to a crisp and melting the great vault door.
"Ice Style: Ice Creation Jutsu!" Hare put her hands on the floor, turning the whole area to ice, setting out the fires and bringing the ground back together. "Please warn me next time you two are going to do that combo, my ice won't last forever you know!"
"Yeah, yeah let's just get out of here before they start getting suspicious!" Dragon said. The three jumped into the vault and started rummaging through the layers and layers of scrolls. "Hey look at this one! I think Leader-sama might like this!" He picked up a fairly large scroll with 'Uzushio' written on it.
"And this one's pretty cool I might keep these!" Hare picked up two light blue scrolls with '氷' and 'Yuki' written on them.
"And this one to- ah, we're getting distracted! What were we looking for again?" Bird reached for another scroll with 'Sword' written on the top.
"The Scroll of Seals, remember? Now where could it be?" Dragon quickly finished sealing his 'presents' into another scroll before rummaging around the area again. "It's got to be here somewhere-"
"-got it!" Hare exclaimed, knocking open a second safe with her ice shards, revealing the Scroll of Seals. "And this is supposed to be the defence of the most powerful nation? P-lease it's pathetic."
"Well maybe to others this wouldn't be that easy to break into but we're not normal are we?" Dragon grabbed the scroll and sealed it. "Now... to get out of here... somehow." He reached for his ear and turned on his ear piece. "Team Invention, are you done?"
No response.
"I repeat... do you read?" No response still. "Hare! Bird! On me, now!" He put his scrolls around his belt before rushing out of the vault room and heading up the stairs, flanked by his two teammates.
He looked out of the hallway both sides. More guards were stationed around the area, making the place hard to breach. "I see. They've not taken any chances and stepped up security. This is going to be a bloodshe-"
"-llo? Hello? Ah right okay, we've finished on our end but it's hard to get out, guards are swarming the place. Help us!"
Dragon cursed mentally. "Set off twenty explosive tags."
"Twenty? I mean I don't care about exploding stuff but isn't that risky? One wrong move and we'll be caught!"
"Oh so you're saying you're weak huh, Monkey?"
"Why you... I'll show you weak!" Monkey cut the connection off and in the distance explosions were heard, tearing down buildings near the zone. "That good enough for you?"
The guards in the hallway tensed up and started shifting more, slowly moving to the end of the hallways, but still in striking distance of the vault. Some of the ANBU left the area, leaving the area less defended.
"Ice Style: Frozen Mirage." Hare cast a genjutsu on the ANBU on one end of the corridor, making them think a slight wind had entered the hall, making them focus their attention on where the wind was coming from. It also made the ANBU think the area was freezing up, effectively sticking them to the ground.
The trio leapt onto the ceiling before scaling across to the ANBU without a genjutsu. They took some senbon needles out of their pockets got into position. They waited for the ANBU to shift a bit more before they struck.
Thud.
Bodies of ANBU lay on the ground, hit on their pressure points at the back of their necks.
"So do we leave them paralysed or not?" asked the ever so sadistic Hare. She got slightly depressed when her two teammates started taking the senbon back out of their necks. "Mah, you two are too nice."
"They could track us down with these senbon, remember? Also, none of us wear gloves so our identities would go 'whoosh' out of the window and into those grubby Hokage hands," retorted Dragon. "Let's go."
The three jumped into a random room on the side of the door before breaking another window and running on the rooftops to freedom. Any second later, they would've been swarmed as on the other side, the ANBU dispelled the genjutsu and realised what had happened.
"Monkey, Ram, Rat. Meet at rendezvous point STAT!"
So... How'd I do? Good? Bad? Awful? Trash? Amazing? Tell me!
If you have any suggestions, let me know and I'll incorporate them if I like them!
Sorry if this chapter seems rushed, I had less time this week to write ( T_T)
And that's all for now!
See you later: Ja ne!
