"What can I do for you Darrel" The other voice spoke on the other line. "I didn't think you needed me for anything anymore. Pony is all cleared of the charge about Buck."

"I know that but I have a girl who needs approval for a surgery but we know her father isn't going to sign off on it or anything."

"How do you know that?"

"Abusive father. You know about that."

"Darrel."

"She means something to Ponyboy and the gang." Darry was now begging something he doesn't do but this was Mr. Anderson one of the top lawyers who defend people who aren't part of the elite groups. He defends outcast and he knew how much Mr. Anderson regretted everything concerning Johnny's death.

"I need her name Darrel." Andrew spoke while getting a piece of paper out to write down the details.

"Lovely Gardens." Darry spoke. "Please call me Darry."

"I'm quite busy with court and testifying in court for my son's death but I will try my hardest to deal with it. I can come by later today."

"Thank you so much Mr. Anderson."

"You can call me Andrew." Andrew said to Darry before hanging up the phone and Darry sighed while looking at the consent form before deciding to go over next door.

Mr. Gardens should be awake at this time now. Darry knocked on the door waiting patiently with the piece of paper in his hands. Mr. Gardens was a grungy man with a belly and stained white shirt with faded blood on it. He had beer and he glared at Darry who was everything he wasn't.

"Hello Mr. Gardens."

"Who the hell are you?"

"I'm your next door neighbor and I had taken your daughter to the hospital. They need to perform surgery on her." Darry informed the parent but Darry wished he could sign off but he wasn't her guardian so that was out of the question. The stench of alcohol burned Darry's nostrils.

"Why."

"Internal bleeding." Darry clinched his jaw as he spoke those words out. "She could be bleeding out. She could die."

"Then let the little bitch die." Mr. Gardens was about to slam the door but Darry grabbed the door handle.

"I can't let her die. She means something to my brother so sign the damn papers and I will leave you alone." Darry gritted his teeth as he spoke the words and Mr. Gardens rolled his eyes before slamming the doors. Darry walked back to his front porch while sighing. Dally was on the porch watching the whole thing.

"Told you, he wasn't going to sign off." Dally tilted his head and Darry glared at the rule breaker Dallas Winston.

"Killing your daughter is illegal." Darry mumbled and Dally sighed.

"A lot of things are illegal but hey I still do them." Dally gave his signature smile that smelled like trouble.

"I called Mr. Anderson so well see."

Andrew Anderson was busy rushing to the courthouse to meet with a judge. He was doing research about Lovely Gardens and her family. He quickly caught up with a judge.

"Andrew Anderson, what can I do for you?"

"I need you to sign off a court request." Andrew spoke with a rush after hearing how Lovely's stats were dropping right away.

"Andrew."

"Trust me on this Eric."

"What am I signing off?"

"A girl is going to die if she isn't rushed to surgery right now. The state has to step in, her father doesn't want to sign off on it." Andrew spoke out in a rushed tone. Eric looked at him and sighed.

"What's wrong with the father?"

"Don't ask me that Eric, I can't separate her and her father." Andrew sighed while forcing the paper along a pen to his good old friend from college to sign it.

Eric sighed and shook his head but signed the paper anyway. "One day, you need to tell me what I am signing one of these days."

"Yeah one day I will do that but you always trust me." Andrew smiled before rushing out the door before storming into the hospital. He saw the gang sitting in waiting room one of them was standing outside the room that had Lovely in it. It was Ponyboy. Doctor walked out after he stabilized Lovely.

Andrew Anderson handed the court document and the doctor stared at it. "It was signed by a judge so go ahead with the surgery to stop her internal bleeding."

The doctor nodded before telling the nurses and the OR to prep for an internal bleeding surgery now. Andrew walked back to the waiting room. Darry got up from his seat and stared at man.

"She's getting the surgery."

"How did you get it done so quickly? I called just this morning." Darry shook his head but he had a smile on his face slightly.

"I have friends who trust me to sign off on documents and because we acting in defense of Lovely, we going to take charge of the charges." Andrew took his hand out and Darry shook it.

"Thank you for everything." Darry was a proud man but he was grateful for Andrew Anderson for coming into his and his friends life.

"It's nothing, you guys deserve to be happy. Everyone does." Andrew Anderson walked out of the hospital while sighing. He walked back to the courthouse.

The boys sat in the waiting room constantly watching the shuffle of feet of doctors walking around. Ponyboy was curled up on a seat in the most uncomfortable position fast asleep with Dallas jacket over him, Steve was nowhere to be seen. Darry paced back and forth and that's when the doctor sighed before walking to the gang.

"Surgery went well but she might not wake up so I suggest you and your friends go home now. There's nothing else you guys can do here."
