DEGRASSI: GLORY DAYS - S02E13 - TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT PART 1

DISCLAIMER: I DON´T OWN DEGRASSI

1. Int. Bar. Evening.

Troy and Wendy are both looking a bit drunk and are making out. "That Smell" by Lynyrd Skynyrd is playing on the bar stereo. They start to get too physical and the bartender Alex (a large and rowdy looking guy) clears his throat.

Alex:

They let you get away with it at the porn cinema down the street.

They un-couple and Wendy shoots him a cheeky smile.

Wendy:

Jealous?

Alex:

I´m just telling you to cool it. I don´t want to have to kick you out again.

Troy:

What´s wrong with us showing, that we love each other?

Wendy:

Yeah! Wait?

She makes eye contact with him.

Wendy:

You love me?

Troy:

I do. Do you love me?

Wendy:

Big time!

They start making out again and Alex shakes his head, as he tends to another customer. Mike and Sandra come in.

Sandra:

Do you want to take a guess, as to who´s putting on the make out show?

Mike:

She just loves the attention, doesn´t she?

Sandra:

Oh yeah!

They come over to Troy and Wendy.

Mike:

Remember to come up for air sometimes.

Troy and Wendy finally stop making out.

Wendy:

Sorry. We had a major relationship moment, that had to be celebrated in style.

Sandra:

I would have thought, you´d already done that.

Troy:

It´s not what you think.

Wendy:

It was the first time, we said "I love you" to each other.

Troy:

Actually, you never said it for real. You just said "Big time".

Wendy:

Then let me make it clear. I love you, Troy Papadopouios and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.

Sandra and Mike don´t quite know how to react. Troy and Wendy start making out again.

Mike:

Bartender! We need drinks, pronto!

Troy and Wendy are lost in one another.

OPENING CREDITS

2. Int. Train Station. Evening.

Trish is hugging Courtney, who´s just arrived from Seattle, hello. Mira and Kat are with them.

Trish:

Hey, Courtney. It´s been too long.

Courtney:

I won´t disagree with you.

Courtney and Kat give each other a small nod.

Kat:

Is Seattle still standing?

Courtney:

It was, the last time I checked.

Kat:

I´m sure, that´s no thanks to you.

Courtney:

Well, I try. Who´s the cutie?

Mira looks a little flattered.

Mira:

I´m Mira. It´s nice to meet you.

Courtney:

That isn´t the reaction, I usually get, but right back at ya!

Trish:

They´re both, you know ... like us?

Courtney:

Lesbians? Why are you so scared of saying it?

Kat:

You never know, who might be listening.

Courtney:

Who cares? I say, if they can´t take it, screw ém!

Mira looks at Courtney with admiration.

3. Int. Bar. Evening.

Mike, Troy, Sandra and Wendy are drinking. Wendy has a pack of cigarettes in front of her and Sandra is having trouble keeping her eyes off it. Wendy notices it.

Wendy:

You can have one, if you want.

Sandra:

I´m trying to quit. It´s a real bastard!

Wendy:

Why?

Sandra:

They aren´t good for me. But a beer without a smoke, when you´re used to it, just isn´t the same.

Wendy:

Come on! We only get to be young and dumb once, so why not enjoy it?

Mike:

You don´t care, that they say it gives you cancer?

Wendy:

I don´t care if I live to be 30 or a hundred, as long as I got my kicks, before the big dirt nap. That post sex smoke is almost as good as the sex itself. Or the taste of your morning coffee, with a puff of your cigarette, right after you´ve swallowed that brown nectar of the gods. It takes coffee to a whole different dimension. Nature gave tobacco to us, so we could enjoy it and if it kills me, then so what? Death has to have some reason, right? Who the hell wants to be 90 and rotting away in a nursing home anyway?

Sandra:

Alright, I give in!

Wendy hands her one and her lighter. Sandra lights it and looks incredibly satisfied.

Sandra:

Oh God, that´s better than sex!

The others can´t help laughing.

Mike:

I hope, that´s not a critique of my performances.

Sandra:

Nah. You´re adequate enough! Most of the time, anyway.

She smiles at him to show, that she didn´t really mean it.

Troy:

BURN!

Mike:

I´ll have to show you, what I´m made of, then.

Sandra:

Are you disappointed in me?

Mike gives her a small kiss.

Mike:

Nah. What ever makes you happy.

Wendy:

Aww, that´s so sweet! You have great friends, Troy.

Troy:

I know.

He raises his glass and takes a sip.

4. Int. Pizza Parlor. Evening.

The girls are eating pizza and are enjoying it. Mira drops a slice of pepperoni on her dress and looks very annoyed.

Mira:

Dammit!

She goes to get a napkin. Courtney smiles to herself.

Trish:

What´s so funny?

Courtney:

That you´re obviously setting me up with her. We couldn´t be more different.

Trish:

I didn´t know, it was that obvious.

Courtney:

It´s clear as daylight. I´m glad, you two found each other. There´s no jealousy on my side.

Kat:

Thanks. I know, Trish has been worrying about it.

Courtney:

We had one nice night together. It´s not like, you´re the only girl, I´ve slept with.

Trish:

I´m up to two and that´s how I plan to keep it.

Kat:

My 4 year old loves Trish. She calls her "Other Mom".

Courtney:

That´s nice. I go from one girl to the next, no strings attached. The idea of being in a relationship is too serious for me. Now anyway. I have plenty of time to be boring and sit at home holding hands, when I get older.

Kat:

Then why not give Mira a chance? She´s pretty and she knows, it can´t be anything serious, since you´re only here for the weekend.

Courtney:

I can try talking to her, but I´m not guaranteeing anything.

Mira comes back and sits down.

Mira:

I just got this dry cleaned!

Courtney laughs.

Mira:

What did I say?

Courtney:

It´s not that. We could not be more different, if we tried.

Mira:

We´re the same in the one way that counts, aren´t we? I don´t think, we´re as different, as you might think. I´m more than just a nice piece of ass, you know?

Courtney:

Is that so?

They make eye contact and Courtney seems to be warming up to her.

5. Ext. Bar. Evening.

A very drunk Wendy and Troy are saying goodnight to Sandra and Mike, who are almost as drunk.

Mike:

It´s been a great (hic) ... evening, guys, But it´s time to head ... I can´t think of the word.

Sandra:

Home?

Mike:

That´s it! I must be drunk

Troy:

You´re not the only one, my man.

Wendy:

We have to do this again soon. You´re a hoot, Sandra.

Sandra:

Right back at ya, Sister!

A taxi pulls up to the curb.

Mike:

Is it okay, if we get the first one? I need to sleep this off.

Troy:

Yeah, go ahead. It won´t be long until the other one gets here anyway.

Sandra:

Does that mean, I´m not getting my nookie tonight, Mikey?

Mike:

You just called me Mikey. That´s a sign, you need to sleep it off.

Sandra:

Good point. Nightie night, Guys!

Wendy:

Nightie night, Sandra.

Mike and Troy try to slap hands, but are so drunk that they miss on the first attempt. They do better on the second. Mike and Sandra get in the taxi and it speeds off. Wendy puts her arms around Troy´s neck and they look each other in the eyes.

Wendy:

Do you want to hit up another bar or maybe a club?

Troy:

I´m kinda beat. Not to mention horny as hell.

She smiles.

Wendy:

We can´t have that, can we?

Troy:

I mean, we can, if you want to.

Wendy:

No, it´s cool. We´ll save our money for tomorrow.

Troy:

Again? We´ve been out three days in a row.

Wendy:

It´s Saturday tomorrow. The most fun day of the week.

Troy gives in.

Troy:

Okay, but I need a break on Sunday.

Wendy:

We´ll see, when we get there.

Troy:

I mean it. I can´t keep up with you.

Wendy:

You´ll get used to it.

The taxi pulls up and they get in.

6. Int. Michelle´s House. Morning.

Harvey and Michelle are drinking coffee in the kitchen together and it looks like their date went VERY WELL. Mira and Courtney come in from the living room, holding hands and looking very into each other. Michelle smiles at the sight of them.

Michelle:

I guess, I wasn´t the only one, who got lucky!

Mira:

This is Courtney. Courtney, this is Michelle, my best friend.

Courtney:

I´d shake your hand, but I haven´t washed it, so ...

Michelle:

Got ya! Nice to meet you, Courtney. This is my ... what are we?

Harvey:

Lovers?

Michelle:

Lover. Harvey.

Courtney:

Hi.

Harvey:

So, that´s why you weren´t into Mick!

Mira:

I guess, the skeleton is out of the closet.

Harvey:

Don´t worry. I won´t tell anyone.

Mira:

Go right ahead.

Michelle looks surprised, but Mira looks confident in her decision.

Michelle:

Are you sure?

Mira:

If Courtney can be open about, who she is, so can I. I´m a lesbian and there´s nothing wrong with that. It´s just how I was born.

Mira and Courtney kiss. Michelle looks happy for them. Sandra comes in, looking hung over. She looks around at those assembled in the kitchen.

Sandra:

Are you people really here, or am I drunk from last night?

Michelle:

They´re really here. Mira and I both got lucky.

Sandra:

Congratulations.

She pours herself a glass of water and drinks it quickly.

Sandra:

If you need me, I´ll be looking for a nice place to lay down and die.

She leaves them and they don´t quite know, what to say.

7. Int. Wendy´s Apartment. Morning.

Troy is bent over the kitchen table, looking like something the cat dragged in. Wendy puts a Bloody Mary in front of him. She also has one for herself and sits down across from him. She drinks a third of it on one sip.

Wendy:

Oh, yeah! That does the trick!

Troy:

We´ve been out of bed for ten minutes!

Wendy:

Yeah, but we´ve been up for an hour and a half, haven´t we?

She smiles her cheeky smile at him.

Wendy:

Drink it and soon that nasty hangover will be a thing of the past.

Troy:

I´m not sure, it´s the healthiest way to deal with it.

Wendy:

If I cared about healthy, I´d listen to my mom! "Wendy, you party too much!", "Wendy, it isn´t lady like to spend your time in bars" or my favorite "Wendy, why don´t you stop drinking?". I have to listen to that once an hour, when I come back to visit!

Troy:

You don´t think, she might be right?

Wendy:

If you start with me, I´m kicking you out. It´s my life and no one gets to tell me, how to live it!

Troy:

Alright! I´ll lay off.

She takes another big sip and lights a cigarette. He stares at the drink.

Wendy:

Are you just gonna stare at it all day?

Troy:

I´m considering it. Just the idea of drinking right now, makes me want to hurl.

Wendy:

It´s only the first sip, it can be a bit hard to keep down. After that, it comes naturally. Trust me, I practically do this every day.

He takes a sip and it´s almost about to come up again, but he keeps it down. He has to cough, though, which she finds a bit amusing.

8. Montage - Music: "Hair of the dog" by Nazareth.

We see Wendy and Troy making out in the shower and being very into each other. She has a beer and pours some of it in Troy´s mouth, before drinking the rest of it herself. She proceeds to apparently go down on him.

We see them right after the shower and they still can´t keep their hands off each other.

We see them driving in Troy´s parents car and drinking beer on the way. They have to quickly hide them away, when a police car pulls up next to them at a turn signal. They smile at the cops, who don´t notice anything wrong and drive straight ahead, where they turn right. They laugh it off and toast, before drinking the rest of their beer.

We see them pull up to Troy´s parent´s house.

9. Int. Troy´s Parent´s House. Day.

Troy and Wendy come sauntering in, both looking a both drunk already. They´re confronted by his parents.

Dad:

What time do you call this? You were supposed to bring the car back this morning.

Troy:

I know. Sorry, Dad, Sorry, Mom.

Mom:

It´s Samira, you should be apologizing to. She´s the one, who had to find a last minute ride.

Troy feels guilty.

Troy:

Damn. Please tell me, she found one.

Dad:

She did, but she got lucky.

Wendy:

It´s my fault, Mr. Papadopoulos. I couldn´t let him go.

Mom:

It isn´t just this. You go out every night and spend all the money, you should have saved for college.

Troy:

College will still be there in a year and a half. So what, if it takes me another year to earn it?

Dad:

It´s probably a good thing, you´re not in college. You´re clearly not responsible enough.

Wendy:

He´s plenty responsible.

Dad:

You stay out of this! You´re the reason, he´s still out of control!

Troy:

Come on, Dad!

Dad:

You already got kicked out of one college. What´s the point in sending you to another one, if it´s just to repeat the same story?

Mom:

What your dad is saying ...

Troy:

Is that I´m a failure. Just like I´ve been a failure, since I graduated. Isn´t that right, dad?

Dad:

You said it. Not me!

Troy has had enough and waves them off.

Troy:

Screw you, Dad!

Wendy:

Yeah! You´re a real asshole, you now that?

Mom:

Troy, please don´t leave this way.

Troy:

I´m sorry, mom. I´ll spare you the embarrassment of living with a failure from now on.

Wendy:

He´ll be living with me. I´m in the book, when you´re ready to apologize to him.

Troy:

Bye, Dad. Have a nice life.

Troy and Wendy rush out the door. His parents embrace to show support with each other.

10. Ext. Street. Day.

Troy is frustrated and is trying to make sense of things.

Troy:

It´s nice to know, my dad thinks THAT of me!

Wendy:

Screw him. He can´t talk to you like that.

Troy:

My mom probably does too, she´s just too nice to say so. Heck, maybe my sister thinks i t too!

Wendy:

You´re not a failure, just because you´re enjoying life. All we need is each other, anyway.

Troy:

That´s a nice thought, but I can´t just forget about them. My little sister is the apple of my eye.

Wendy smiles.

Wendy:

She´s lucky to have an older brother, who thinks that way of her.

Troy:

Your brother isn´t like that?

Wendy:

No, my brother is a jerk, I wish had never been born. I would have been better off without him.

She takes a moment to work up her courage.

Wendy:

He raped me, you know?

Troy looks shocked.

Troy:

What?

Wendy:

When I was 14 and he was 16. It happened a few times, until my parents found out.

Troy:

What happened? Did he go to jail?

Wendy:

My parents made him promise, never to do it again.

Troy:

That´s it?

Wendy:

He´s the one, they had high hopes for. They couldn´t let a little thing like incest get in the way of that. You can imagine how living together was weird after that. They still expect me to come home for the holidays, even if he´s there.

She looks relieved to have got it out.

Wendy:

I can´t believe, I just told you. You´re the only one outside my family, who knows.

Troy:

I could never in my wildest dreams have done that to Samira.

Wendy:

That´s because, you´re one of the good ones. Do you promise not to tell anyone, what I just told you?

Troy:

Of course. Unless, you want to go to the cops.

Wendy:

It was years ago and I know, my parents will take his side. Do you understand, why I drink now?

Troy:

I´d say, it´s understandable.

Wendy:

My cure is to party it away and try to forget, that it happened. Maybe if I fry my brain enough, I´ll even forget it.

He gives her a comforting hug.

Wendy:

What now, Cowboy?

Troy:

There´s a liqor store on the next street.

Wendy:

I like the way you think!

They head up the street together.

11. Int. Michelle´s House. Day.

Michelle is kissing Harvey goodbye.

Michelle:

Do you want to repeat last night´s success?

Harvey:

Pick you up at 8?

Michelle:

Deal.

They kiss again, before he leaves. Courtney and Mira come out to her.

Mira:

We wanted to wait, until you we´re done with your sweet nothing´s.

Courtney:

Apart from not getting, how you can get yourself to do it with a guy, I´d say he seems like a decent catch.

Michelle:

There´s a whole lot of history there.

Mira:

And now you´re finally a real couple!

Michelle:

We´re not a ... couple. I don´t know what we exactly are.

Courtney:

You sure look like one.

Michelle smiles to herself.

Mira:

Is it okay, if Courtney takes a shower?

Michelle:

Yeah, of course. There´s towels in the closet, just as you go in.

Courtney:

Thanks.

She kisses Mira.

Courtney:

See you in a bit.

She heads up the stairs. Mira can´t get her eyes off her.

Michelle:

So, tell me about your new squeeze.

Mira:

She´s from Seattle.

Michelle:

A girl from another country. How exotic!

Mira:

And she´s only here for the weekend. She has to go home on Monday.

Michelle:

Sorry.

Mira:

It´s okay. I knew it from the start. I´ll just have to enjoy her, while she´s here.

Michelle:

Spring Break isn´t far away. You can visit her and have a whole week together.

Mira:

I don´t know, if she´d go for a long distance thing.

Michelle:

It can´t hurt to ask, can it?

Mira:

Maybe when we get to Sunday evening, right before we say goodbye. I don´t want to spoil, what we have.

Michelle:

I´m just glad, that you found someone. If you like each other enough, you´ll find a way. Would you have believed a week ago, that I´d be back together with Harvey?

Mira:

I guess not.

Michelle:

True love always finds a way. I´m not a big romantic, but I believe that much.

Mira smiles to herself.

12. Int. Wendy´s Apartment. Evening.

Wendy and Troy have just come home and lie down on the bed. She straddles him and starts undressing him.

Wendy:

Time for the main event!

Troy:

Don´t you think, tonight has been crazy enough?

Wendy:

We could just go to sleep.

Troy:

I didn´t say that, did I?

They smile at each other.

Wendy:

Did I help you to forget your fight with your parents?

Troy:

What fight? Oh, that one! Yes, you did.

Wendy:

I´m glad to hear it. It´ll work it self out, once you´ve all cooled down a bit. Compared to some of the screaming matches I had with mine, yours was like an episode of "The Brady Bunch".

Troy:

Did it help you to forget?

Wendy:

Not tonight. I´ll try again tomorrow.

Troy:

You´ll end up drinking yourself to death, if you continue this way.

Wendy:

That takes years of heavy drinking. Are you afraid of death?

Troy:

It isn´t something, I think about.

Wendy:

Part of me wants to end it, but I want to stay alive, just so I can piss on my brother´s grave. I could kill him, but I´d rather if he dies from some horrible disease, that makes him suffer for years on end.

She looks him in the eyes.

Wendy:

Do you still love me, now that you know, how screwed up I am?

Troy:

It only makes me love you more.

She leans down and this kiss in the most romantic way possible.

CLOSING CREDITS

Author´s Note: I know, this was a bit of a rough one. Thanks for reading it and as always, reviews are very appreciated.
