I was sitting at a table in the library by myself when he approached me.
Draco Malfoy walked toward me looking ever so nonchalant. How was he always so calm, cool, and collected? Did he never get nervous?
He took the seat next to her as I pretended not to notice, keeping my eyes on the book that I was reading.
"Can I talk to you?" he asked.
"Um sure" I said as he pulled me in a secluded corner of the library. "What?"
"I wanted to apologize" he said.
"Okay go ahead."
"That was it" he looked at me confused.
"That was the worst apology I've ever heard in my entire life" I shook my head. "That was not even a real apology. If you expect me to accept that then you have another thing going for you Malfoy."
"I-I'm not good at these things" he began to pace up and down the aisle.
"Here" I stopped his pacing. "All you have to do is say 'I'm sorry'"
He grimaced. "Do I have too?"
"I mean you don't have to, I just don't have to forgive you either" I put my hands on my hips. I held all the power now and I loved it.
"Fine" he grumbled. "imsorry" he mumbled so that I could barely hear.
"What was that?" I put my hand to my ear and moved closer to him, teasing him.
"That's the best your going to get out of me" he crossed his arms looking at me with an eyebrow up.
I sucked in a breath through my teeth, "then I'm not accepting."
He glared at me, "your making it very difficult to like you right now."
"Oh" I raised my eyebrows up. "You like me?"
"I think you already knew that" he moved a hair out of my face.
My insides were going crazy. Butterflies through every part of my body. My skin was ignited, a flame burning throughout my body.
Why did he have to be like this?
It would have been so much easier if we had never met.
I just felt guilty.
He had died one year ago and I felt guilty having feelings for someone else. Was it to soon?
"That's not getting you out of your apology."
His lip curled into a sneer, "your an arsehole."
"Oh but you like it" I played along, teasing him while pointing my finger.
"I do," he put his face close to my ear allowing me to feel his breaths fanning my face. How was I standing? I was so sure that my knees would collapse.
"So your apology."
He groaned and put his hands on his face. "Fine, but only for you" he smirked gently. "I'm sorry for what I said and giving you mixed signals about my intentions. I'll have you know that my intentions are pure and I want to be with you."
I was taken aback. I definitely wasn't thinking he would just admit that all right then and there. He looked at me, expecting an answer. Gnawing at his lip nervously and fidgeting with his fingers.
"So what are your intentions?"
"To be friends" he bowed extending his hand.
"Are you sure?" I asked feeling insecure at this moment. "I'm not like Pansy or Astoria, I'm just going to tell you that."
"Oh believe me I know," still holding his hand out waiting for me to take it.
"Fine" I took his hand. "Friends."
I highly doubted that he wanted to be just 'friends' with me, but it was a step in a direction which I couldn't tell if it was right or wrong. All of his constant flirting and he wants to be friends. That's, interesting.
"You won't regret this" he smiled walking away.
"Smile more! Your left dimple is cute" I yelled without thinking. I could feel his smirk from a mile away. "I hope I don't regret this" I mumbled after he was gone.
Draco Malfoy could be described as the happiest person on the planet.
She had actually agreed to be friends with him. For him that was a step in the right direction. He had to get to know her first, obviously. He was surprised to be honest, he thought that he was going to get a harsh rejection.
He just had to hope everything would be good. He had planned this to a tea yesterday night at like 12:00 am with Blaise.
Blaise was still sulking about his mother which was understandable so Draco did what he knew how to do best. Throw money at problems. He offered to let Blaise stay with him, after all Blaise was his best mate and stayed over all the time.
Blaise was confused at first when Draco had told him they were going to be friends first, but then Draco had explained it to him. Draco didn't know much about her, it wouldn't be right to force her to jump into a relationship with him when the barely knew each other.
He fancied her sure, but he only knew her for her looks and the fact that she had a handful of conversations with him. He needed to get to know her for herself and see where that friendship took them.
"They are going to be friends first" panted Blaise as he ran all around the castle just to find Ginny, Athena, Neville, and Luna. "Hey Neville" Blaise waved shyly.
"Oh erm hi" Neville replied awkwardly.
"Why?" jumped Athena from her seat. "Is he too pussy to ask her out?
"Shh" Madam Pince scolded.
Athena merely rolled her eyes, not listening to the woman.
"He said they should start off as friends to get to know one another better" clarified Blaise.
"She hasn't told us yet" Ginny said.
"Well it was quite recent. Drac just ran all the way to me to tell me and then I knew that I had to run all the way here to tell you."
"This is great" Luna beamed.
"More of a set back" Athena grumbled.
"No they're taking it slow" Neville clarified for them all. "I think it's good for her."
"Yeah" Ginny nodded slowly thinking about it. "I agree."
"I mean she should take things slow considering her last boyfriend..."
Ginny's whole entire mood had changed from excited to now sad. The talk about Adeleine's former lover hurt Ginny the most. It physically hurt her heart. She was now reminiscing all the memories she had with Adeleine's former lover and how they always hung out together.
Ginny helped them set up dates. Ginny was the one that encouraged them to date in the first place. And then it all went down hill when the war came. So many deaths, bodies, and bloodshed. The war was horrible for everyone, especially Adeleine. She couldn't fathom what Addy went through losing her love.
Blaise leaned over to Neville since he was sitting right next to him and whispered, "who is her ex?"
Neville wasn't sure if he should say so he asked Ginny if he could tell Blaise. Ginny said yes, but it made her mood worse. She needed to do something fun to brighten her up.
Neville whispered into Blaise's ear and Blaise couldn't deny the fact that he liked Neville's close proximity with him. And Neville was appearing calm and collected on the outside while he was freaking out on the inside.
Neville knew Blaise was gay, but he was always to scared to make a move. Whispering into his ear was probably the closest he would get to Blaise ever again. When Blaise whispered in his ear he felt shivers going down his spine. Blaise's breaths filling Neville's ear.
Blaise looked shocked when Adeleine's former lovers identity was revealed, but then she quickly understood and pieced every moment they had spent together or that he'd seen of them. It made sense. They were always around each other.
Laughing
Joking
Pranking...
"I have to go help Professor Sprout" Neville said getting up from his spot. He wouldn't admit it but Neville was getting way to nervous about Blaise being so close to him. Sure it was a great feeling, but it was frightening as hell.
"Oh I'll come with you, I think I forgot my book their anyways" Blaise said following Neville.
Neville's brain couldn't comprehend anything anymore. His head was spiraling and his thoughts were out the door. "Sureee" Neville nodded wide eyed.
Ginny giggled to herself at Neville's awkwardness and dishevelment as they pair walked away from the table that the three girls sat in.
"Neville and Blaise?" Athena asked shocked.
"You haven't noticed by now?" spoke Luna in her soft voice.
"You knew?"
"He didn't tell me, but it's quite obvious isn't it?" Luna said as Ginny nodded agreeing with her.
"I didn't think that they were gay."
"Neville's bisexual" corrected Ginny.
"Did everyone know but me?" Athena threw her hands up in the air, mostly because of frustration.
Luna giggled to herself quietly giving Athena a kiss on the lips before turning back to Ginny. Luna wrapped an arm around Athena where Athena rested her head on Luna's shoulder. "My oblivious Athena" she rubbed Athena's shoulder, soothing Athena with her tranquil voice that sounded of pure bliss.
"Okay love birds" Ginny rolled her eyes at the affection. It wasn't that she didn't like public displays of affection, it was more that she missed Harry's kisses or just when Harry held her hand. She missed him, but Harry and Ron would be coming to Hogsmeade on Saturday when everyone could go.
She was excited.
"Did you happen to find your book?" asked Neville as he chopped some mandrake roots.
"It's not here. I don't understand I left it right here" Blaise lied convincingly.
"We'll do you remember the last time you had it?"
"If I did it wouldn't be missing."
Neville rolled his eyes and continued to chop the mandrake roots.
"Remember the time you fainted in second year when we were handling mandrakes" Blaise chuckled at the memory.
"Oh shut it" Neville flushed a deep shade of red in embarrassment. At that point of his life Neville was still convinced that he should have been a Hufflepuff because he told that hat that he was to scared to be in Gryffindor, but now Neville understood why the hat decided to place him where it did.
"Need any help?" asked Blaise walking toward Neville who was standing by one of the desks.
"Sure" Neville said handing Blaise a knife.
Blaise started to chop the mandrake roots all wrong. He butchered one root already and Neville wasn't planning on having him butcher any more.
"Your doing it wrong Blaise" Neville said taking Blaise's knife away. Blaise admired how his name sounded coming out of Neville's mouth. It sounded like pure heaven.
"Here let me show you." Neville put the knife in Blaise's hand and halted the cutting of his mandrake roots. Neville who was to engrossed in teaching Herbology didn't even realize that his hand was on top of Blaise's, guiding him and showing him how to properly cut the roots. "Didn't you pay attention in second year."
"You fainted during the lesson, how could you possibly talk to me about paying attention" Blaise retorted which Neville chuckled at and agreed.
Neville had finished helping Blaise cut the mandrake root, but Blaise's hand was still holding the knife and Neville's hand holding Blaise's. They looked into each other's eyes. Blaise's chocolate brown eyes staring right into Neville's emerald green ones.
Blaise couldn't seem to look away, mesmerized by the beautiful emerald green of Neville's eyes. Neville widened his eyes, realizing the situation as he hastily pulled his hand away from Blaise's and averted his eyes. Quickly he began to chop the mandrake roots and Blaise the same.
Acting like whatever passed between them had never happened in the first place.
