There was something about Collin's kisses that made the world disappear. The way he gently massaged her lips with his, the way he held her close to his body, the way he growled so low, it vibrated through her. Any problems that plagued Renesmee's mind vanished whenever she was in his arms.
They were in her room, lying on her bed, their legs tangled together. He was only wearing a pair of sweatpants, while she wore a button-down shirt and a pair of shorts. The lights were dim, and the television was on, but she wasn't paying attention to it. Her mind was only on Collin.
He stopped kissing her and looked at the buttons on her shirt.
"See something that interests you?" She ran her finger down his bare chest.
"Um…" He touched her skin just below her collarbone. His smile was playful. "I was just thinking about the last time we were here."
"Yeah?" Renesmee raised an eyebrow. "What were you thinking?"
"I was thinking about you and where my hand was." He ran his finger lower stopping at the first button of her shirt.
"Ah, I see. Well, if you would like to place your hand there again, I certainly won't stop you." She placed her hands by her sides.
"Actually, I wanted to try something different, if you don't mind." Collin moved his fingers to the first button of her shirt.
"Not at all." Renesmee bit her lip and kept still.
"Remember what I said before. If you want me to stop-"
Renesmee put her finger over his lips. "I want you to touch me. That's what I want."
"If you insist." He kissed her twice, then a loosened button, then another. She watched his face as he realized that she wasn't wearing a bra.
Collin shook his head. "And here you are teasing me again."
"Like I said before. Teasing implies that I'm taunting you with something you can't have." She touched his cheek again and sent him an image of the two of them in a naked embrace. "And you can certainly have me."
"Yeah?" His smile was so sweet, so earnest.
"Yes. Now get to it." She laid back down and rested her hands on either side of her head.
She waited patiently as he slowly unbuttoned each button until only the two halves of her shirt were covering her breasts. She was doing everything in her power to not pull her shirt apart, because she wanted him to do it.
A trail of goosebumps followed his fingers as he moved them down the space between her breasts. She held her breath as he gently pulled the two halves apart, revealing her bare torso. She watched him carefully. His mouth was slightly opened, and his breath came out in a slow exhale.
"You're beautiful," Collin said, breathlessly. "So beautiful."
Collin put his hand over her rib cage, just underneath her breast. Then he looked at her and smiled. "Baby, are you breathing?"
"No." She took in a deep breath, then laughed. "I guess not."
"Well, this isn't going to be fun if you pass out." Collin smiled that smile that always calmed her down.
"I suppose you're right. I've been waiting a long time for you to make love to me. It would be a shame if I passed out by a lack of oxygen."
"Yeah. I have plans for you, sweetheart." Collin's face was inches from hers. "I want you to remember when I make love to you."
Then he kissed her passionately, fiercely, fervently. He rolled over, trapping her beneath him, and it felt so good.
This was what she wanted, what she needed, and she could tell that he wanted her too. She could feel his need pressing against her body.
Renesmee's phone rang. "What the hell?" Renesmee groaned. As she reached over to grab it, Collin moved his kisses down her to her neck and collarbone.
Her mother's picture appeared on the face of her phone, and Renesmee hit Decline.
"Is it important?" Collin asked, his voice muffled against her skin.
"No, it's fine." She turned the phone on vibrate and pulled Collin to her lips again. He wrapped his arms around her and flipped them over, so she was straddling him.
Suddenly, he sat up holding her close. "Someone's here." Renesmee watched as his eyes darted around.
Renesmee breathed in deep, then groaned. She knew that scent from anywhere. "It's my mother."
Collin's eyes widened. "What?"
She breathed in again confirming what she already knew. "Yep, it's her."
There was a light knocking on the door, and they both froze.
"Ness, it's me. I came by to talk." Bella's voice was soft, tentative. There was a pause, then, "Hi, Collin."
Collin's smile was shameless. "Hi, Mrs. C."
Of course her mother knew Collin was there with Renesmee. She probably scented him as soon as she walked in the front door.
"Mom, give us a minute, okay?" Renesmee shouted back.
"Sure. I'll just wait in the living room."
Renesmee heard her footsteps retreating. It was too bad she was too distracted to hear her coming.
"Well, that's one way to kill the mood," Renesmee said, as she slowly got up.
"It's fine, sweetheart," Collin said. "I should get going anyway. I wanted to see you before I went out tonight, especially with Jason guarding you."
Jason was picked to guard Renesmee that night. To say Renesmee was disappointed was an understatement, and Jason wasn't fond of the idea either. She also knew that Jacob was incredibly stressed because Leah had left his pack. That reason alone made it difficult to argue with him about it.
"Are you okay with that? Are you sure you don't want me to say anything to him?"
"No, it's fine. I don't want to make a big deal of it." Renesmee touched Collin's neck. "It is what it is. If he wants to stay outside, that's fine with me."
"Okay, then I'll leave it alone."
It was sweet of him to offer to speak with Jason on her behalf, but it was even more considerate of him to let her handle the problem on her own.
They both stood up and walked toward the door.
Collin pulled Renesmee closer. "I'll try to come over a little later, okay?"
"Okay." Renesmee wrapped her arms around his waist. "Maybe when you come back, we can talk about what happened tonight."
"Talk?" Collin's smile was naughty and held a promise of what was to come. "Oh, baby, I think we're way past talking." He grabbed her by the neck and surprised her by kissing her for all she was worth. The hand holding her neck eased up to her scalp, while the other had a tight grasp of her rear.
When he pulled away, she saw a fire in his eyes that she'd never seen before. She was tempted to tell both Jason and her mother to leave so she could have some good quality alone time with Collin.
But she knew he was needed elsewhere.
She would have her time with him soon enough.
Bella stood up when they walked by her hand in hand. The television was on, maybe to offer some sort of privacy. Well, as much privacy as someone with super hearing could offer.
Collin kissed her forehead and said, "I love you."
"I love you, too," Renesmee said.
Bella eyed Collin as he walked toward her. He wasn't wearing a shirt, but that was common with the pack. Their body temperatures ran high, and he was going to phase into his wolf soon.
"Collin?"
He turned and looked Bella straight in the eye. "Yes."
"You love my daughter?" Bella asked.
"Mom!" Renesmee exclaimed.
Collin smiled, and said with ease and confidence, "Yes, I do."
"That's good to know." Bella smiled at him. "I figured you care a lot about her if you broke Jake's command to save her."
"I'd do it again." Collin held his chin high, and his shoulders were square. This was one of the many things Renesmee loved about Collin. He faced problems head on. She didn't know if it was his genes or if it was just him.
"You stay safe out there, tonight."
"Thank you. I will." Collin nodded. "Goodnight, Mrs. C."
"Goodnight, Collin."
After the door clicked shut, Renesmee said, "Did he pass the test?"
"I think your father will like him." Bella chuckled. "Truthfully, I wasn't worried about him. He seems to have things together. I just hope his mother doesn't become an issue."
"Like I said before, I've stopped trying to get her to like me. But I will stay civil for Collin's sake. That's how much I love him."
An awkward silence fell, signifying an elephant settling in the room.
Renesmee hadn't spoken to her mother since the party, although Bella certainly tried. She called and texted many times, but Renesmee was stubborn, a trait she inherited from her.
"Where's Leah?" Bella finally said.
"She's staying at Matt's tonight. It's her first night with them, and she wants to get acclimated to her new duties as Alpha."
"Good for her. I know she's been though a lot, and I'm glad she came out of the storm. Is she going to be living there now?"
"She didn't say. I think she's just taking things day by day."
Renesmee hadn't really thought about what Leah was going to do now that she was a part of Matt's pack. She knew things were going to change, but would she be losing a roommate?
Leah told Renesmee everything, and she hadn't mentioned a new living situation to Renesmee. That probably meant that Leah wasn't sure either.
"I'm sure Leah will tell me when she makes a decision." Renesmee walked into the kitchen. She grabbed a glass from the cabinet and added ice. "I'd offer you something to drink, but we don't keep blood in the house."
"It's fine. I hunted earlier." Bella sat down on the couch. "I tried calling you before I got here to let you know that I was coming, but it went straight to voicemail." Bella turned toward Renesmee. "I'm assuming you hit Decline because you didn't want to be bothered." She raised an eyebrow.
Renesmee didn't say anything.
"Anyway, Jason let me in. Well, he grunted something about you being inside. He didn't say anything about Collin being with you, though."
"I'm not surprised." Renesmee grabbed a can of Sprite from the fridge then joined her mother in the living room. "He's not my biggest fan." Renesmee snorted. "I'm sure he got a great laugh out it."
"Then why is he guarding you?" Bella asked.
Renesmee poured the Sprite in the glass and took a sip. "He probably didn't have a choice. He didn't tell me much when he arrived, just that he'd be outside."
"Then he's not the right person to be guarding you. Is he even going to try and stop a werewolf that gets close to the house?" Bella pulled out her cellphone. "I'm going to call Jake right now about this."
Renesmee sped over to her mother and slapped the phone from her hands. "No, you're not! You're going to stay out of it! You can't call Jake to fix everything! Some things I have to figure out for myself!" Renesmee breathed in deep and counted silently to ten. "That's why Collin was here, to make sure that I was okay with Jason guarding me."
"And are you?"
"Yes, I'm okay with it as well I can be. Jason may never like me, but I don't plan on going anywhere. He needs to get used to me being around."
"Okay, I won't call Jake." Bella picked her phone up and examined it for damages. "I really came by to check up on you. Apparently, I got here just in time."
"Is that what you think?" Renesmee muttered.
"Yes." Bella nodded. "I don't need my vampire senses to figure out what was going on in there. Seriously, honey, are you ready for that? Do you have protection? I know you love Collin, but are you ready to have a kid?"
"Mom! Stop! First, it's none of your business! Second, I told you that I was prepared. Third, I didn't ask for any advice about my relationship with Collin." Renesmee crossed her arms. "If you're here to meddle, then you can leave."
"Don't be rude, Ness. I'm still you mother," Bella admonished. "I'm here to talk to my daughter who hasn't spoken to me in a week. It's past time for us to talk this out."
Bella crossed her legs and casually placed her clasped hands on her knees. It was hard to believe that when she was human that she was clumsy and awkward. She looked so elegant and confident.
"Well, I'm not ready to talk, mom."
"I'm not leaving until we do, and I'm certainly not leaving you with a guard who would rather be picking his toenails than guarding you." Bella pointed toward the window.
"Mom, he could hear you!"
"I don't care!" Bella said, her tone defiant. "I hope he does! I hope he comes in here and explains why your life isn't as important as the next person's!"
"There you go again, always trying to interfere." Renesmee threw her hands up. "Can't you just let me deal with it and find a solution? Believe it or not, I have more strength than you realize. And just so you know, Jason was on Jacob's shit list for letting Eden out of his sight. Do you honestly think he wants to piss off his Alpha again? That reason alone tells me he'll do his job. I have faith in him. I wish you had faith in me."
"I do have faith in you, Ness," Bella said. "What would make you think that I don't?"
Renesmee laughed. "Really? You have faith in me. Is that why you questioned my willpower around an injured party guest?"
"Honey-"
"No, you thought that I would attack Wendy. The pack wasn't concerned. Not even Matt's pack thought I was a threat. It's sad when they had more faith in me than my own mother."
Renesmee didn't want to cry, but she felt the burning behind her eyes and the tightness in her throat.
"Listen, Ness. I am sorry about what I said. I was just looking out for my little girl—"
"I'm not a little girl anymore!" Now the tears were falling. "I'm an adult. Yes, I'm only ten in human years, but I'm a full-grown hybrid! I don't need your permission to go to a party at the beach with my boyfriend. And I don't need you hovering over me to make sure I don't hurt anyone." She knew she was raising her voice, but she didn't care.
Renesmee grabbed a tissue from the coffee table to wipe her eyes.
"Do you remember the day you were attacked?" Bella's tone was soft, tentative. When Renesmee didn't say anything, Bella said, "That wasn't rhetorical." Her expression stern and serious.
"Not really." Renesmee wiped her nose. Every time the memories came up, she felt like she was back on the forest floor being torn apart by monsters. She always pushed them down. Kim had warned her that she should talk to someone, but she wasn't ready yet.
"Come here." Bella patted the space next to her on the couch. Renesmee begrudgingly complied. "The day you were attacked in the woods is a day I will never forget. Since I don't sleep anymore, I have waking nightmares of when Collin brought you home broken and barely breathing. He was covered in your blood, and the look of horror on his face will forever be etched in my mind." Her mother looked so sad.
"I almost lost you," Bella continued. "So many scenarios constantly run through my mind. What if Collin hadn't brought you home in time? What if Carlisle was unavailable? What if something had happened to Collin preventing him from making it home? Anything could have happened." Bella turned to her daughter. "Then you tell me that you wanted to go to a party on the beach, a place where werewolves could easily take you away. Do you think I would be able to live with myself if something like that happened and I didn't do everything I could to prevent it?"
Vampires couldn't shed tears, but they could cry. It was a strange sight. All the actions of crying: the heavy breathing, the heaving, the contorted facial features were all present, but there were no tears.
The only time Renesmee had ever seen tears in her mother's eyes was after she was born.
"Collin would have been with me, mom," Renesmee argued feebly.
"He was with you when you were attacked in the woods, wasn't he?" Bella countered.
"You know it wasn't his fault, and he broke Jake's command to help me. If he hadn't, I wouldn't be here right now. You just said that!"
Bella ran her fingers through her hair. "I know, and I'm grateful to him. There's no way he could have known something like that was going to happen. My point is that now we know the werewolves are after you. So, why put yourself in unnecessary danger? I know I was a 'clumsy teenager', but I do know what I'm talking about. I was young once too."
Renesmee felt a little guilty about her remark about her mother's clumsiness. She certainly wasn't clumsy now.
She looked down at her hands. "If it makes you feel better, Collin agreed with you. He thought it might be risky too, and he wasn't going to go to the party without me. It was postponed anyway because of Wendy's injury."
Bella cracked a smile. "I knew I like that boy."
"Yeah, I love him. He trusts me, even around the injured." Renesmee hadn't forgotten about the argument and wasn't going to let her mother forget about it either. "He knows that if things got to be too much, I would leave. He doesn't second guess me, and he doesn't threaten to carry me away for everyone's safety."
"It's not that I don't trust you. It's about the pull of the blood. If it catches a hold of you, it's almost impossible for you to let it go. Wendy could have been your singer."
Renesmee let out a loud guffaw. "She's not, thank God. I would have known the first time I met her." Renesmee made a face. "She's the last person I would want to drink from."
Bella said. "I'm trying to look out for you and prevent you from making the same mistakes that both your father and I made."
"I know my tolerance. At least I don't have dad stockpiling blood for me in case I slip."
"You know why your father is stockpiling blood for me? Because I thought I knew my tolerance too, until I didn't. Ever since I found my singer, my senses have been looking for her, searching around hoping that she'll show up. I never fully understood what your father went through being around me when I was human, but I get it now. It takes over and all that willpower and strength that I had just disappeared. You say that your tolerance is high, and it very well may be, but one day you could run across your singer. It's possible, even for you."
"But you were dad's singer, and he didn't kill you. He didn't drink all your blood. He was able to control his urges. Don't you think I could do the same, especially since I'm only half vampire?"
"I don't know."
"That's where trust comes in. You have to trust that I know what I'm doing, and that if I get in a situation, I will remove myself."
"But honey, if something happens, you won't be allowed on Quileute land or even Forks. Alice can't see your future, so there's no way of knowing what will happen."
"I'm actually glad about that. That allows me to find out solutions on my own, trial and error. If Alice is always telling me the answers, how will I learn? I know what the risks are, and I know that if I violate the treaty, I won't be able to walk on the reservation anymore. I love being on Quileute land, visiting the museums, going to bonfires on the beach, being with Collin. Do you think I would risk all that? Besides, I wouldn't want to give Wendy anything to use against me."
"Wendy is quite a problem, isn't she?"
"I thought she might have been a problem for me and Collin, but I know we're solid. The problem is if she convinces the council to forbid me from walking on Quileute land." Renesmee cut her eyes to her mother. "And you carrying me away doesn't do me any favors. That's another reason why I couldn't leave. It could make me look like I'm not trustworthy and give her ammunition to get rid of me."
Bella touched Renesmee's shoulder. "I really am sorry about that, honey. I didn't think about it like that. You're still young, and so many things could happen. I just worry."
"Don't worry about me, mom." Renesmee patted her hand.
Bella laughed. "Moms always worry, honey. As far as you not being allowed on La Push anymore, I think that would take a valid reason, and I can't think of one that would convince the council. You've done things right there, and you don't take your privileges for granted."
"But Wendy is a shady one. She's slick, and she knows just how to play people. Mrs. Littlesea loves her and would probably vote for me to be banned from the reservation too. If anything, to keep me from her son."
"You'd be surprised whose minds can change, even Mrs. Littlesea." Bella patted Renesmee's hand. "One day she'll see that you're a good person who loves her son."
Bella's phone chimed.
"It's Alice," she said as she scrolled through the text message. "She is looking at gifts for Angela's baby, but she doesn't know what the sex is."
"She can't see when Angela has the baby?"
Bella shook her head. "Which means that Embry is probably in the room with Angela when the baby is born." Bella laughed. "It's driving her crazy."
"I bet it is." Renesmee giggled. Anyone who knew Alice, knew she was a planner.
Bella looked out the window. "I can stay for a while if you want. Alice will understand. Or you could come with me and stay at the house. I'm sure Alice would love your opinion too."
"No, it's fine. I need to figure this out on my own. I'll just approach Jason. If he responds, then he responds. At least I can say that I tried. Besides, Collin said he'd try to come back over later." Renesmee tried and failed to hide her shy grin.
"Huh." Bella crossed her arms. "Well, I won't comment about that except to say that you need to make sure you are using protection. I'm not ready to be a grandmother."
"Like I said, Mom. I'm prepared."
"Okay, then. I trust your judgment." Bella squeezed her hand.
"Thank you." The both stood up and headed to the door.
Bella turned and faced her daughter. "I'll see you later, Ness."
"Okay mom. Love you."
"I love you too, honey."
After kissing and hugging her mother goodbye, she headed to the back patio to talk to Jason. She wasn't excited about talking to him, but she had to face him. He was a part of Collin's pack, and she needed to at least try.
"Jason?" she called out.
There was no answer. Renesmee thought that he might have just disappeared, or worse. It was hard to catch his scent in the woods.
She tried again. "Jason."
"Yeah?" He walked out of the woods, fastening his cut offs. His dark hair was tousled, and there were smudges of dirt on his face and chest.
Lots of scenarios were going through Renesmee's mind about that action.
As if reading her mind, he said, "I was doing a perimeter check. It's easier in my wolf form. Didn't think you'd want to see my private parts."
"You don't owe me an explanation."
"What's up?" His tone was annoyed.
"I wanted to let you know that there is pie in the fridge if you'd like a slice. A lot of the wolves like guarding our house because Leah has been leaving pies in the fridge."
"It wasn't my choice to be here," Jason mumbled. "Honestly, I'd rather be out there fighting werewolves than babysitting and eating pies."
"You know, we don't have to be enemies," Renesmee said. "We can at least be civil for the greater good. I'm not sure what you have against me, but I'm willing to listen. Maybe we could come to some common ground. Or you can stay out here and hate me for no reason. The choice is yours."
As Renesmee started to leave, Jason said, "I don't hate you, I just…"
"You just what?" Renesmee crossed her arms.
"I don't know." Jason looked down at his feet. "I guess since Aaron hates you all so much, I felt like I had to be loyal, especially since he's injured."
"Aaron's a very angry guy," Renesmee said.
"He has every right to be. He was supposed to go to college in Oregon. He got a full ride, but his gene was activated, and those plans went out the window. His mother has always been hard on him, and he couldn't tell her about the pack, so he was even more of a failure in her eyes."
"Oh, I'm sorry." Renesmee turned her head toward the door, then back to Jason. "We could talk some more about it, if you want?"
Jason was quiet, then, "What kind of pie do you have?"
~*}{*~
The first day of school was usually a breeze for Leah. She never really had first day jitters, mainly because she grew up with most of the kids that were in her classes.
But that changed after her gene was activated.
The first day of her senior year was rough, mainly because everyone had known that Sam had broken up with her and was now dating her cousin. They'd also known about her father passing away, and they'd known that something was up with her always hanging around certain boys of the Quileute tribe.
There were constant whispers, and everyday was a struggle.
She couldn't wait to graduate and leave all of that in her rearview.
When she went to college in a different city, things were different. The students there didn't know her past, so she was free to be herself and make new friends.
Being around Matt's pack was a combination of both of those moments in her life. Her new pack knew her story and her past. They didn't judge her for it, and most importantly, they didn't pity her.
They were welcoming and seemed happy with her being their Alpha female.
When Matt introduced her, they congratulated her, and offered any help if she needed it.
She was anxious to run with them, but that would have to wait.
Since the werewolves still had Leah on their radar, Matt had asked if she could hold off on patrolling with the pack. Bringing her out in the open would put the pack on alert. They would be more concerned about protecting her than recon on the werewolves.
"You'll get your chance to patrol with us, babe," Matt had said. "I promise. This is just temporary."
She didn't like it, but she understood.
So she was stuck at the house being the communications center. But she brought some of her work with her to keep her busy during slow moments. She also brought some pies with her which the pack appreciated.
While the pack went out to patrol, one stayed on guard duty.
Mickey.
While he wasn't unpleasant to her, but he wasn't exactly open either. Of course, she knew that she couldn't make everyone like her, but she knew that his reaction probably had a lot to do with the argument she and Emily had at the party a week ago.
It was clear that he had opinions about the situation.
"Hey, Mickey, I brought some pies with me if you're interested. There's coconut cream and sweet potato."
He didn't look up from the television. "No, thanks. I had about twenty muffins before I got here. I'm stuffed."
Leah pursed her lips. Three guesses where he got the muffins.
She was now the pack's Alpha female, which meant that she had to take charge of the situation before it festered into something unpleasant. The pack needed to trust her, and she needed to trust them.
Leah walked over to Mickey. "Can I speak with you for a moment?"
Mickey looked a bit surprised. "Yeah, sure." He turned down the television and sat up.
Leah sat in the armchair across from him. "Listen, I'm not one for beating around the bush. There's obviously something on your mind. If it's me you're concerned about, I want you to know that I will be fair and honest, the same way I was with my old pack."
"I'm sure you'll do fine." Mickey shrugged nonchalantly. "Jacob has never complained about your leadership."
"But you're hesitant." Leah frowned. "I assure you that I don't take this lightly. If you're concerned about my feelings for Matt, know that I do love him. I am grateful for this opportunity that he gave me. Never in a million years did I think something like this would happen to me."
Mickey shifted in his seat. "Can I be honest with you?"
"Sure." Leah leaned back in the chair.
"I know that you and Emily aren't close anymore," Mickey started.
"That's true."
"But she and I are friends."
"I've noticed," Leah quipped.
"I just don't want that to affect the way that I'm treated in this pack."
Leah laughed. "It wouldn't. As you know, Sam and I used to date which made things awkward when Jacob decided to keep me as beta. If you ask Sam, he will tell you that I was fair to him and treated him like any other pack member. I won't let my personal feelings come in between my duties as Alpha."
"That was very fair of you. From what I understand, he didn't treat you that well when he was Alpha."
"No, he didn't, but he is still very regretful of that. The entire pack is." Leah laughed humorlessly. "I guess that's why I try to be fair. I know what it's like to have everyone against you."
"Can I ask you something?" Leah held up her hands. "If you don't want to answer, then I will understand."
"Okay," Mickey answered slowly.
"Is there something going on between you and Emily?"
"You won't judge me?"
"Nope."
"That's good to know. I hear enough of it from the pack when we're out when her name comes up in the pack mind." Mickey rolled his eyes.
"I can relate. Remember, I had to watch my ex swoon over my cousin during each shift. Plus deal with my emotions because my father died in front of me, and come to terms with being the only female wolf. The pack had a lot of unwanted advice for me too." Leah rolled her eyes.
Mickey sighed. "The truth is, I like hanging around her and talking to her. She's amazing." Mickey's eyes lit up. "I know some people look at her and see her scars, or they see what she did to you, but she really is a great person. I know she said some horrible things to you at the party, but she really is sorry."
"She may be, but she hasn't said she was sorry to me." Leah shrugged. "She's never apologized to me, actually, but that's not your problem. I'm not trying to turn you against her."
"I appreciate that."
"Just a little advice, and it's yours to take or leave. Even though Sam and Emily are going through a rough patch, they're still married. Do you really want to get in the middle of that?"
"But Sam still has feelings for you," Mickey argued. "You have to see that. He's not treating her like he wants her. Maybe she needs something new, someone new."
"Imprinting is a funny thing, something you should be glad that you don't have to deal with. On the surface, it may seem like Sam is ignoring Emily, but he's very conflicted with his life right now. But Sam still loves her. I'm all for fighting for love, but you need to make sure that you're not the only one fighting.
"When Sam first imprinted, my logic was to fight for him. I mean, that's what you do when you're in love, right? The thing was, even though he still loved me, he didn't fight for me. He chose to stay with Emily, so I was fighting alone. If you want to be with Emily, and she genuinely wants to be with you, then go for it and fight like hell. But, if she still loves Sam, then you're in for a lot of heartache. Trust me, I know."
Mickey laughed. "I didn't expect you to give me advice like that."
"One thing you'll learn about me is that I take care of my pack."
Mickey nodded and smiled. "Yeah, I think this is going to work out with you as our Alpha female."
A/N: As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts. :)
