One For The Calendar
She was not doing very much at all when her phone rang. Homework was done, there was nothing on T.V, she had no plans to go to the Bronze. Although she'd ducked out on the spell casting Buffy and Willow were doing, once her car was done, she hadn't actually had anything better to do.
It was Xander.
'Hey - uh - Cordy?' There was something up with his voice, like he had a bad head cold or something. 'I need a favour - would you - would you drive me to the police station?'
She frowned, 'why do you need to go to the police station?'
He coughed, and sniffed - and she wondered if he was coming down with something. 'It's … it's Jenny. Miss Calendar. She's been … she's been killed. Giles is at the police station, I need to go get him.'
'Wait - why would Giles kill Miss Calendar?' She still didn't get it.
There was a long moment of silence - and then - 'Angel killed Miss Calendar. Giles found her body…'
He was saying something else, but she wasn't listening. The realisation of what he had just told her hit - full force - Jenny was dead. Really dead. And it felt just like last time - with Kevin - as if the world was moving, a seismic shift taking place beneath her feet and she didn't understand it and she didn't want it but she knew everything that had been was falling away and, once the quaking stopped, she would have no choice but to get used to this new way of being.
Jenny was dead. Angel had killed her. Jenny was dead. Angel had killed her. Nothing was ever going to go back to the way it once was.
'... so I need to get down to the police station…' She snapped back to attention just in time to hear Xander repeat his request for a favour. 'Will you drive me?'
'Yes. Of course.'
