Another day, another rescue. Ladybug and Chat Noir rescued a man who thought it would be a good idea to give his girlfriend, who was waiting for him on top the Eiffel Tower, a bouquet...while flying on a hang glider. Unfortunately, a rogue wind sent the hang glider off course and he nearly crashed into the Eiffel Tower, but fortunately, Paris' super heroes saved his life and set him down on the ground. "Next time, take the elevator," advised Ladybug.
"My delta plane express delivery wasn't exactly the best idea," the man said.
"Don't forget your bouquet," Chat Noir said, handing it back to him while discretely plucking one rose from it.
"Be careful on your way back," Ladybug called out.
"For you, my lady," Chat Noir said, handing her the rose.
She made a scoff and said, "Seriously, Chat Noir? You're about to transform back!"
Chat Noir ignored his beeping ring. "So what?"
"If you transform back, we'll know each other's identities and..."
"And then we won't keep secrets from each other anymore," said Chat Noir. "We'll be united, more powerful and free, we'll defeat Hawk Moth, then we can both run away to an island! Far away from everything. We will live off nothing but fruits, and we will have a little pet hamster and we will name it-"
"CHAT NOIR!" Ladybug snapped him out of his fantasy. "I can't accept this rose from you. I told you already. I'm in love with someone else."
"I know, M'lady. But if he weren't here, would things be different between us?"
Ladybug shook her head as she turned to leave. "Well, you know, I can't even begin to imagine him not being here. I'm sorry, Chat Noir. I really gotta get going, and you better do the same."
As he sadly watched her go, Chat Noir watched as one of the rose's petals fell off. "Lover's quarrel?" he heard a mocking voice.
Chat Noir's fist clenched. "Go away, Big-Head. I'm not in the mood."
"Face it, pussy cat," Big-Head said as he munched on a croissant. "It's clear you two are not made for each other. Just like..." He trailed off as Chat Noir stormed off, throwing the rose down on the ground. "What did I say?"
Later, at school, Rudi was snoring loudly until he heard the teacher shout, "Rudi, wake up!"
Rudi screamed as he awoke, "HALIFAX!" startling Mrs. Bustier.
Chloe and Sabrina laughed at him.
"This is the third time this week you've fallen asleep," Alix said. "What's up? You're usually peppy. Not as peppy as Rose, but..."
Rudi rubbed his eyes. "Sorry. I've been having restless nights recently."
"You got bad dreams? Why not tell me?"
Rudi eyed her over. "You're not going to laugh, are you?"
"Me? No!"
Rudi sighed. "Okay. It's the same every night. Paris is frozen. All the people are trapped in blocks of ice. Even Ladybug and Chat Noir. And, there are skeletons. Skeletons in armor with icicles dripping from them. Then this woman appears. She's..." He shuddered. "Honestly, I've never seen anything so horrible in all my life. She's wearing black robes and her face is..." He shook his head. "Horrible. One half is young and sexy while the other half is old and withered. She takes one look at me and lunges at me and that's when I wake up."
Alix made a thoughtful frown. "That IS scary. I wonder what that means?"
"No idea."
Alix put a thumb and index finger on her chin. "That two-faced woman you mentioned sounds familiar, though. I wonder where I've heard of her?"
"I dunno." Rudi sighed. "Look, I gotta clear my mind. I heard that ice rink is open. I'll see you later."
"Don't fall on your butt!"
"I won't!"
Rudi laughed as he left the school.
Not her...
"Did you say something?" he asked the Mask.
No.
Apparently, he arrived at the wrong time as when he arrived at the ice rink, its owner Philippe was having an argument with Mayor Bourgeois. "I can't believe it, Mr. Mayor! You want to shut my ice rink down!?"
"This is not your ice rink, Philippe! It belongs to the Parisians. I'm not closing it down. I'll just be converting it into an indoor gym for my ChloƩ... er, my city! Nobody comes to your ice rink for lessons anyway. You haven't had a single student sign up this year. Just look around you."
Rudi felt bad for the poor guy. But, what could he do? Across the rink, he saw Marinette, Adrien, Kagami and Luka come in, putting on ice skates. This put a smile on Philippe's face. "Wrong, Mr. Mayor! Some new skaters! I knew it!"
The mayor exhaled impatiently. "Fine." He handed the figure skater some papers. "If you can get just one single sign up within 10 minutes, I'll put the gym conversion work on hold."
"Consider it done!"
Adrien scooted over to Marinette after giving a quick glance to Kagami. "It was really cool of you to bring Luka, Marinette."
Marinette smiled an awkward smile. "Of course. That's what friends are for."
"I don't know what to do about Kagami. Should I offer to hold her hand?"
"Let her fall."
"What?"
"No, what I actually meant was that you cannot let her fall in any way. I mean, do whatever you can so that she doesn't fall," Marinette said, laughing awkwardly. She stood up. "So yeah, grab ahold of her hand and take her onto the ice and then..." She slipped and slid right into Luka's arms.
"Try to be natural. Go with the flow and listen to the rhythm. Just follow my lead," Luka said as he helped Marinette with her skates before leading her to the ice.
Adrien approached Kagami. "Don't be scared," she whispered. "I won't tell anyone."
"Tell anyone what?"
Kagami smiled as she knelt down and tied his skate's laces. "That you don't know how to tie your laces."
Rudi made a smirk. "Well, well, well. A love square."
Adrien and Kagami sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!
"Shut it."
As Marinette skated with Luka, she couldn't help but watch Adrien and Kagami and ended up slipping again, only to be caught by Luka. "You okay?"
At that moment, Philippe jumped in between them and showed them the documents. "Hey, young man! Have you ever thought about signing up for ice skating lessons? The judges wouldn't be able to resist that sparkling smile of yours."
"That's nice of you, sir, but my life is already filled with music. And I might have a brand new song to write, so..."
Philippe called out as the couple skated away, "Music's an important part of skating, you know. Think about it!"
Meanwhile, Kagami eyed Marinette and Luka and asked Adrien, "Did you invite them because you were scared of being alone with me?"
Adrien retorted nervously, "Of course not. It's just that I asked Marinette to help me."
"With what?"
"Uh... to perfect my figure skating skills."
"But you don't need her for that." Kagami showed off her skating skills, using her martial arts movements to help with her technique, impressing everyone who witnessed her. Philippe skated up to her and said, "You have what it takes to be a champion. The style. The talent. Let me be your private coach."
To his disappointment, she said, "I only practice noble arts like archery or fencing. Ice skating's just for fun."
Philippe took notice of the Mayor's irritated frown and he became desperate as he asked Marinette and Luka, "I'll give you a week's worth of lessons for free. Just a few hours a day and you'll be a star."
Marinette shook her head. "Thanks, but I'm already very busy as it is."
Philippe noticed Adrien with Kagami. "Is that Adrien Agreste!?" He approached the boy and handed him the papers. "Adrien Agreste, I can see it now. Grace and style model, and professional ice skating champion. If you take lessons with me, I'll have you shining like the candles on a birthday cake."
Adrien looked as though he was considering it. "Uh... maybe."
Suddenly, Kagami pulled him away and said to Philippe, "He already does fencing with me."
Marinette couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor man. But her pity made her so distracted, she let go of Luka's hand and slammed into the glass wall. "Are you okay?" Both boys rushed to help her, but she suddenly found herself unable to pick which hand to grab onto and help herself up.
Philippe skated over and said, "See how a few lessons from me could come in handy? Please, Adrien Agreste. Just put your name on this form and your fans will come running. And my ice rink will be saved!"
The Mayor snatched the forms out of his hands and berated him, "None of these young people want to sign up, Philippe. You can't force them now, can you?"
Philippe sighed sadly. "You're right."
Kagami forced Marinette up. "On your feet!" She whispered in her ear, "The only reason you can't stay on your feet is your hesitation. I never hesitate." She turned to Adrien and said, "Shall we go?"
Marinette watched them go sadly and Luka put a hand on her shoulder. "Marinette? Are you okay?"
Without even looking at him, she said, "I think I hurt myself. It's probably best we call it a day." She left the ice rink and into the locker the room.
Adrien noticed and said to Kagami. "Marinette doesn't look too good. Sorry, Kagami, I have to go check on her." And he followed after her.
The Mayor tossed the forms at Philippe's feet. "I'm sorry, Philippe, but the ice rink will be closed down tonight."
"WAIT!" Rudi stood up from his seat and walked down to the rink. "M-May I sign up?"
A happy smile lit up Philippe's face. He gathered up the forms and grabbed a pen. "Here! Sign it!" Rudi stepped onto the ice and was about to walk forward when suddenly, he slipped and landed on his face. "Oh! Kid, you forgot to wear your ice skates!"
Rudi looked up at him, his nose bloody. "So...where do I sign up again?"
"Oh, this is ridiculous," snapped the Mayor. "It's clear the ice rink needs to be shut down if it will cause an accident like this!"
Philippe was horrified. "But...but Mr. Mayor!"
"My mind is made up!" With that, he stormed out of the building. Philippe looked as though he might cry. Luka and Kagami helped Rudi back into the stands and Luka gave him a handkerchief for his nose. "Thanks," he said. He cast a look of pity to the figure skater. "What was I thinking?"
The circular window to Hawk Moth's lair opened and butterflies swarmed around him. "Ahhh... a burning passion that's about to be put on ice. What perfect bait for my akuma." He grabbed one of the butterflies and turned it from white to purple. "Fly away, my pretty akuma, and evilize this ice skater's newly frozen heart."
The akuma entered the ice rink and absorbed itself in Philippe's ice skates. His face went blank as he heard a deep baritone voice in his mind. "Frozer. I am Hawk Moth. They want to take your rink away from you. So from now on, all of Paris will be your ice kingdom. In return, you must bring me Ladybug and Chat Noir's Miraculous and Big-Head's Mask of Loki."
Philippe made an evil smirk as purple smoke enveloped him. "Ready to skate, Hawk Moth!" When the transformation was complete, he now wore a costume made from snow, his skin had become blue and his hair turned to ice. He took a step forward and ice started to form around him.
Rudi, Luka and Kagami witnessed this and took off running. Rudi split up from them and headed for the bathroom and slammed the door behind him. Ice started to crawl its way under the doorway as he quickly reached into his bag and pulled out the Mask. "Time to turn up the heat! IT'S SHOW TIME!" He slapped the Mask on his face and transformed into Big-Head. He pulled a sledgehammer out of his bag and smashed the wall. What he saw made him say, "Whoa!"
All of Paris was coated in ice and the people were frozen in blocks of ice. He approached one of them and said, "You okay?" He gave it a gentle tap. It toppled over and shattered to pieces, freeing the guy inside. The man took one look at him and ran off screaming. "You're welcome, arse!"
Frozer laughed maniacally as he stood on top the Eiffel Tower. "Ladybug and Chat Noir. Your frozen statues will sparkle like trophies upon my kingdom of ice!" Suddenly, he felt a burning sensation on his back. He turned around and saw Big-Head armed with a flamethrower.
"Time to kick some ice," he said. Then he slammed his face with the flamethrower's nozzle. "Oh, I hated that! Let me try another one."
"You! You will not melt my icy heart! Give me the Mask of Loki!" Frozer slammed his foot down, sending more ice in Big-Head's direction but he melted it with the flamethrower before it could reach him. Frozer gasped.
"Actually, I don't need to melt your heart when I can just roast your face!"
"S-Stay back!" Frozer jumped down the Eiffel Tower and began to skate away, with Big-Head chasing after him.
Ladybug and Chat Noir met each other on one of the rooftops. Thanks to feeding their kwamis ice power cookies, they were now wearing costumes that looked like they belonged to figure skaters and had retractable ice skates on their feet. "We need to set up a trap for whoever turned the city into a giant ice rink," said Ladybug.
Without even looking at her, Chat Noir said bitterly, "My feline instincts prefer to track and observe before I attack. You go your way, I'll go mine."
She couldn't believe what she was hearing. "Is this about that rose?"
"There may be a certain chill now between us."
"I get it, but we should really focus on saving Paris right now."
"We don't always have to do everything together, after all," Chat Noir said. "Big-Head was right. We're clearly not made for each other."
Before Ladybug could retort, she suddenly felt warm. "Hey, did it just get warm all of a sudden?"
"Yeah," Chat Noir. "I feel it too." Suddenly, a blast of fire was seen off in the distance. "Three guesses who that is," he said.
"Let's get down there before Big-Head makes the villain a Megakuma!"
Big-Head skated down the frozen Seine, chasing after Frozer with maniacal glee. "What's wrong, Philippe? Can't stand the heat?!" He adjusted the flamethrower's settings up to maximum and blasted a wall of fire at the figure skater, who dodged out of the way and back onto the shore.
"I'm Mr. Green Christmas, I'm Mr. Sun," Big-Head sang as he followed after him. "I'm Mr. Heat Blister, I'm Mr. Hundred and One! They call me Heat Miser, whatever I touch starts to melt in my clutch! I'm too much!" He pulled a thermal grenade from his pocket and tossed it at Frozer's feet. It exploded, sending him flying into the air and he landed on a frozen car. Frozer definitely heard a loud crack and he felt an extreme pain in his left foot. He wailed and grabbed onto his injured foot as Big-Head slowly advanced toward him with the flamethrower. "I never want to see a day that's under sixty degrees," he sang. "I'd rather have it eighty, ninety, ONE HUNDRED DEGREES!"
Before Big-Head could reach the akuma, however, black smoke started to envelope Frozer. "Not again," the green-headed loon groaned in annoyance.
Ladybug and Chat Noir gasped at what they saw: Frozer had become a giant skeleton made entirely of ice. His very breath was snow and every time he walked, giant ice crystals formed from his footprints. Standing in front of him was Big-Head, who looked as though he was about to wet his pants. Still, he aimed the flamethrower, but the instant the flames made contact with the giant's body, it transformed into harmless snow.
Then Frozer began to sing. "I'm Mr. White Christmas, I'm Mr. Snow! I'm Mr. Icicle, I'm Mr. Ten Below! Friends call me Snow Miser, whatever I touch turns to snow in my clutch! I'm too much! Ha, ha!" He exhaled more snow, forming a giant tornado that billowed around him. "I never want to see a day that's over forty degrees! I'd rather have it thirty, twenty, ten, five AND LET IT FREEZE!"
The tornado blew Big-Head up into the sky, but Ladybug used her yo-yo to catch him and bring him back on solid ground. "Thanks for that," he said.
"You're welcome. Kind of. This is your fault, you know."
"Your point?"
Ladybug sighed, exasperated. "Let's just get this over with. LUCKY CHARM!" She twirled her yo-yo in the air and its magic created... "A bag of salt?"
Big-Head took a bit of the salt from the bag and licked it. "Sea salt."
"But, what am I going to do with this?" Ladybug noticed some of the salt landed on the ice, melting it. "Of course! Salt melts ice!"
"Ooh, I know what to do," Big-Head said as he snatched the bag from her. "I need you two to lure him to the Eiffel Tower." He took off running, leaving Ladybug and Chat Noir behind.
"I suppose you know what he's got in mind?" Chat Noir asked.
"No. I never do." Ladybug sighed.
Chat Noir said, "Ladybug, I just want to say you're right. We should set up a trap next time another villain arrives."
"You were right too. We observed and now we know enough."
"And right now, looks like we're the bait."
Frozer stomped around, searching for his prey. "Where are you, heroes? I want to make you into ice sculptures!"
"Hey!" Frozer looked down to see Ladybug and Chat Noir making rude gestures at him. "Bet you can't keep up with us!"
The took off skating with an enraged Frozer chasing after them.
Big-Head smirked as he saw them coming. "Now all they have to do is get underneath me and...and..." He trailed off when he saw a figure starting to form in the snow. It was a woman with long black hair and skin as pale as ice. Half her face was beautiful while the other half was withered. She pointed an old, bony finger at him and made a rasping noise.
WAKE UP! THEY'RE COMING!
But Big-Head was too fixated on the vision.
Ich sagte wach auf!
Big-Head suddenly punched himself in the face. "What the what?" Then he saw the heroes and Frozer coming closer. "Oh, right. The ice man." Ladybug and Chat Noir skated underneath the Eiffel Tower with the angry frost giant chasing after them. He was directly underneath the viewing platform when Big-Head dropped the bag of salt on his head.
"AUUUGGGHHH! IT BURNS!"
"Now, Chat Noir!" shouted Big-Head.
The feline hero nodded and activated his powers. "CATACLYSM!" He pressed his hand on the giant's skate's destroying them and releasing the butterfly inside. Ladybug did her thing. "No more evil-doing for you, little akuma. Time to de-evilize!" She captured it, purified it and released it. "Bye-bye, petite papillon!" Then she tossed the bag of salt into the air. "MIRACULOUS LADYBUG!" It exploded into a wave of black and red spots that melted all the ice in all of Paris and at the same time, Philippe turned back to normal.
Hawk Moth cursed as the circular window closed. "You smashed through my plans like an icebreaker, Ladybug. But revenge is a dish best served cold."
After reuniting with his friends at the ice rink, Adrien decided to help Philippe out. He couldn't join his class due to his already busy schedule, but he could help him get new friends with a little video he posted on the internet. "This is Philippe at the ice rink. He makes skating so much fun."
Philippe shook the boy's hand. "Thank you, Adrien."
"I hope this helps you get more students to sign up." He walked over with Kagami to the limo where his bodyguard was waiting for them.
"You still keep doing what other people want you to do," Kagami said.
"No, I just want him to be happy. And I'm not changing my target. Even if it means failing over and over again, because one day, I will succeed and hit it."
Kagami glanced her eyes at Marinette, who was shaking hands with Philippe. "The day you realize you've got the wrong target, I'll be here."
Marinette watched Kagami and Adrien enter the car. Luka approached her and asked, "You wanna take the subway together, Marinette?" She didn't respond. When he realized she was staring sadly at Adrien, he smiled, understanding. "You should probably go over and talk to him. Thanks for inviting me out today."
Marinette smiled and hugged him. "Thanks for coming with me, Luka." Then she ran just before the limo started. "WAIT! ADRIEN!"
Adrien rolled down the window. "Marinette? Was there something you wanted to tell me?"
"I love you, Adrien! Even if you love Kagami. I just had to tell you. There!" Is what Marinette wanted to say, but she couldn't.
"Marinette? Is something wrong?"
"Uh...I just wanted to say that... we should go and skate at the ice rink more often. Yeah!"
"You mean...just you and me?"
Marinette stammered frantically, "You and me? Oh, no! course not! Cause we should take the whole gang there. Luka, Kagami, Alya, Nino!"
"You're right. That would be awesome! I'll try to free up some time to do that. See you at school."
As she watched Adrien leave in the limo, Marinette mentally slapped herself. "Tikki, please don't tell me I did it again!"
Tikki giggled as she hid in the girl's purse. "Don't worry. You'll get there one day, Marinette."
