"Dean, what's for-?" Sam broke off, eyeing the empty kitchen. He frowned and walked quickly into the next room. Sam's gaze swept the dining room, halted at the now-empty table with two tall candles still occupying its center. He swallowed then continued his hunt for his brother.
Sam walked into the garage, hoping to find Dean tinkering with the Impala. No such luck. Wandering deeper into his brother's domain, he found a workbench with its well-lit table. Moving closer, he spotted a picture in a newly carved wood frame, curls of oak and cedar shavings scattered across the tabletop. Sam picked up the picture and gawked: Dean, himself, Mom and Dad were seated at the dining table, talking and smiling, animated faces illuminated by the glowing candlelight. How'd he snap—
"Sam?"
Sam carefully set the picture down, then turned to face Dean. His brother stood braced, as if for a fight. He's expecting a tongue-lashing for wishing the wrong thing. "Dean, I -wanna go get a cheeseburger?"
Dean's eyes widened slightly, then he relaxed. "Sure."
Sam followed his brother, stopping at the garage's entrance. "Ah, c'n I have a copy?"
Dean smiled. "Sure, Sam. Frame included?"
"Frame included."
A/N This idea popped into my head when wood was the challenge word, but I couldn't make it fit into 100 words, so I thought I'd try again this week with a 200 word drabble.
