Eye Test
...
(Note- Abhirika haven't started dating yet but they do like each other)
"What happened to your eye Abhijeet?" Tarika asked, concerned. Of course nothing about him went unnoticed by her. And also, at this phase she found it really hard to keep her emotions inside her. Well, she never try to hide them too. So, the moment her eyes fell on him she asked the question, just like a reflex.
It wasn't like she looked for his eyes. In fact, eyes contacts with him made her so nervous nowadays that she preferred to look anywhere but into his eyes. But, to her surprise she found herself meeting his gaze every time he walked into the lab, automatically.
"My.. eyes?" Abhijeet asked, surprised. Of course he was aware of his red right eye but being asked by her like that had taken him aback, specially when it came so fast. He meant, he had just entered into the lab! He couldn't suppress his internal happiness sensing that she might had been possessing the same feelings inside her like him. "I don't know. Since a few hours it's red. It's not even itching or creating vision problems." He answered, trying hard not to show his eternal happiness in his behaviour.
"Oh, come sit here and lemme have a look." Tarika asked him, showing him a chair near a microscope looking machine.
"What? No, I mean, Its fine." Abhijeet said, nervous.
"Abhijeet, its just a test. If the light of this machine bothers you I will use low light torch. Please, have a seat."
""Tarika ji.. its.."
"Abhijeet... You are here? I was looking for you at Bureau." Dr Salunke walked in and for the first time in his life Abhijeet thanked Dr salunke on his mind for the interruption.
"Sir, see Abhijeet here is having an eye problem and he won't even allow me to have a look." Tarika complained to her boss.
"Really? Why boss? Come, I will check." He leaded Abhijeet towards the chair shown by Tarika pushing his elbow gently, not giving Abhijeet any chance to deny his words. And to Tarika's surprise Abhijeet didn't even try to deny! She wasn't hurt would be a lie if asked.
A few minutes later Dr Salunke declared that Abhijeet's both eyes were perfectly fine. And the redness would go away in few hours. Nevertheless he prescribed him an eye drop for being extra protective.
"Why didn't you want me to test your eyes?" Tarika asked him straight, once Salunke left them alone.
"What.. do you mean? Salunke sir offered me so.. "
"Abhijeet!"
Abhijeet looked down. How could he possibly say her the reasons behind this? He was afraid that Tarika would hear out his ragged breathing, the constant LUB DUB of his heart which only happened when she was around. More than that she would look into his eyes. No, he would never want her to read his eyes. They are not even dating yet and he's afraid that Tarika didn't even feel the same. He didn't want to risk their friendship. He would never do that.
"Don't you consider me skilled enough?"
"Oh please Tarika, that would be the last thing on earth I would have thought about you."
"Then?"
"Umm... It's just... I.. I dont want you to look into my eyes." Abhijeet said, slowly.
"Why?"
"What if you get lost into them?" Abhijeet smirked.
Tarika tried to suppress her blush but failed and looked away.
Abhijeet left the lab, smiling. His flirts saved him.
