Vendetta McClain,18, District 4 female

Everything is foggy for a moment as my eyes open but I hear my calm breathes looking into a dim light. I feel so comfortable, so warm, so safe. I close my eyes again for a moment. There's nothing to worry about, I'm here safe and sound. A dim light? I open my eyes again to see the dim light, reflecting on the worn walls around me and I realize I'm deeply tucked into a bed. This is unusual though…I don't remember falling asleep here. I slowly sit up and look around the empty room and see the lights above me begin to flicker and the door at the end of the room begins to creak.

"Hello?" I call but receive no response, where am i? The door continues to creak slowly opening and I look at it intently before a dark shadowy figure with pulsing red eyes enters and begins glaring me. What is this, some kind of mutt? The figure glares me for a moment longer and exits the room and that's when I jump off of my bed and begin walking towards the door but I hear voices, they sound like…cheers?

I continue walking towards the door and outside of it, I can see an outside arena, like one of those ancient arenas gladiators fought in, and I can see hundreds of thousands of people in the audience cheering loudly. In the middle of the arena I see a person, is that…

Every step I take towards him it seems like the cheers grow louder and louder. I continue walking though and I now know for sure who this is…it's Mattias. This has to be a dream, this can't be real but why does it feel so real? He's only standing still as brackets of weapons surround the arena around us, but I see the look on his face and he looks disappointed.

"M-Mattias…" I stammer.

"Hello Vendetta." he greets me in a disappointed tone, it's almost like he knows.

"Mattias, I, I missed you. I missed you so much." My voice cracks and I begin to hug him but he takes several steps back and looks me in the eye with a stern look.

"Mattias…" I call to him.

"There's blood on your hands Vendetta, who does that blood belong to?" he asks and I look down at my hands to see them stained in blood, just like that night.

"Maria…this is Maria's blood." I answer honestly and he lets out a small sigh holding his head down.

"I feared that was the case Vendetta, so this is the path you went down." He states.

"She took you away from me Mattias, I had nothing because of her!" I try to explain but he only shakes his head.

"Vendetta, I always told you that if something were to ever happen to me, to not seek redemption because that'll never end well, I always told you to go down the path of honor and not the path of darkness. Maria did nothing wrong, she wasn't stronger but she was smarter and that's what got her the victory." He tells me.

"Mattias, I'd do it a million times more if I was able to, I don't regret my decision and I never will!" I grit my teeth and I see him becoming more impatient.

"You didn't think you'd just be able to just get away with this did you?" He asks.

"I didn't care, I really didn't." I answer.

"Well was it worth it Vendetta? Did you get your satisfaction!?" He raises his voice but I remain silent, I got no satisfaction out of it. To be honest, I didn't really feel anything…

After I don't answer, he walks over to a bracket and grabs a trident before spinning it in the air and planting it in the ground shooting me a glare.

"Grab a weapon Vendetta…" he glares me and I give him a hesitant look.

"Mattias…" I mumble.

"You didn't respect my wishes Vendetta, that tells me all I need to know about you, now I'll say one last time to grab a weapon or I don't mind striking you where you stand." He warns me and my lips quiver as tear rolls down my eyes and I proceed to grab a warhammer as we stand across from each other.

"It's unfortunate things had to be this way…" he mumbles before rushing at me but I swing my hammer at him and he swifty dodges it, doing side flips through the air. I try striking him again but he spins out of the way and quickly slashes me across the face with his trident before backing up and holding the trident above his head, ready to strike me again when he finds an opening.

Mattias was always an opponent I never wanted to fight, he didn't win his respective games but he was still considered one of the strongest tributes to hail from this district being able to mix his acrobatics, speed and strength to make for a terrifying opponent to go up against.

I can feel blood coming down my cheeks aswell as a stinging pain, you don't feel pain in dreams though…what is going on?

"Where am i?" I ask.

"That doesn't matter anymore. This is your punishment though, you will atone for your actions!" he tells me and rushes at me again, I try striking him but he parries my strike with his trident and tries stabbing me in the torso but I block his attack and we glare each other for a moment before I push him back and try striking him but he flips out of the way and lands on his feet proceeding to dodge my next two attacks and stabs me in the shoulder with his trident causing me to stumble back and groan in pain.

"I know everything about you Vendetta, I can see all your attacks coming from a mile away, I made you who you are afterall." He states and I angrilly swing at him again but he simply takes two steps back to avoid it and quickly counters trying to stab me in the torso once again but I manage to stagger out of the way and swing at him again, but he only flips out put of the way. We continue circling each other and he gives me a focused look holding the trident above his head. Focus…focus.

I rush towards him again and he blocks my first attack and spins out of the way of my second, good I want him to do that. I swipe my hammer at him again and just like I hoped, he flips out of way but I quickly trip his foot as he's about to land on the ground and he grunts falling flat on his back instead and I quickly bring my hammer down into his skull completely smashing it in and he immediately goes limp as the audience is now roaring in happiness. I drop my hammer before falling to my knees, it's over…it's over.

Still though...something doesn't feel right, it feels like something is behind me.

I turn around and see the dark shadowy figure again, it's eyes pulsing and I prepare to strike it with my hammer but I hear a small chuckle and quickly spin around only to be stabbed through the torso with a trident, pain immediately shoots through my body and I can't even respond to it cause it's so sudden and painful. Blood spurts up from my mouth and I look up to see Mattias who's now completely healed, grinning up at me.

"You thought it'd be that easy Vendetta? I will keep coming back until you're dead, that is the whole reason you're here afterall!" he states pulling the trident out of me and I fall to my knees, coughing more blood from my mouth.

"It didn't have to be this way Vendetta…goodbye he states and brings the trident down but I lift up my hammer and slam it into his chin and he grunts in pain, stumbling back and dropping the trident. I then quickly pick up the trident, rush at him and pierce the trident through his chest and he lets out a pained groan as we both look each other in the eyes.

"Then we die together…" I state.

"You...won't have the privilege of going to the same place as me..." He struggles out and his eyes rolls in the back of his head before he falls to the floor and I use the little bit of strength I have left to pull the trident from his chest as more tears come down my eyes. I feel the presence again behind me and I grit my teeth, it's time to end this…

I turn around again to see the dark shadowy figure and without hesitation, throw the trident through it's chest causing it to roar in pain and explode into a scattered mess of black sludge, some of it landing on me and it smells horrible, like death.

I fall on my back afterwards and everything around me begins fading, the entire arena begins to fade and I'm now in a void of white, with nothing else around me. My eyes quickly shoot open and I'm back in the medical center but I can barley breath and the bed I'm laying on is soaked in my blood.

All of my injuries…they all carried over from that dream, how?

I try to shout for help but only blood spurts from my mouth and I begin crawling out of my room trying to find anyone that can help me.

It seems the moment I crawl out of my room, Vladimir is standing right there and lets out a small chuckle.

"h-elp." I manage to croak out but he chuckles more.

"Well well, look what we got here. I was just contemplating on how to get rid of you, looks like you took the fun out of that though." He cracks his knuckles, dammit, no! Where's Barbel, Barbel…help me!

"This'll be a proper time to officially end the alliance away. Don't feel bad though, I always intended on killing you all anyways." He states and I feel a powerful blow against my head before darkness envelops me.

I stare at the spots of my dried up tears on the floor and fresh tears fall over them as I continue crying. I managed to take shelter in some sort of abandoned mall and this is where I've been ever since I managed to escape from him. Vladimir, that fucking Vladimir! Everyone I met, everyone I became close to, he just showed up and killed them! Lysta…Calla, they were dead because of him. No, They were dead because of me. It's my fault that they're dead, if it wasn't for me allying with them, they'd still be alive. He's only going to continue pursuing me though, he's only going to continue coming after me and killing anyone in his way to do so and this is why he needs to die, he needs to fucking die!

I punch the floor in anger as I envision his grinning face, I bet he's not smiling so much anymore after half his face got melted off, but still, I know he's coming…and I'm going to be ready. I look around me to see a gallon of gasoline and some matches I've found. I'm going to leave a trail of this gasoline around the entire mall area and when he shows up, he's not going to have anywhere to go. He is going to die, even if it's the last thing I do, I am going to kill him!

A cannon rang out earlier and with that there's only 9 of us left. I'm in the final 9, I'm so close, so close to being able to return to Scrap and redeeming myself, showing him what a good sister I can actually be. I'm doing this for you Scrap and I won't let you down, I promise!

Tears roll down my eyes as I sit against a tree and gaze at the ground and there's only nothing but silence, I don't make a single sound. It's just tears rolling down my eyes. A cannon sounded soon after I left Xavi and…I just knew, I just knew he was gone. I should've went back, I should've went back to help him! He needed my help and when he needed me the most, I wasn't there.

I let out a small sob as I think about him more. He was like a brother to me. So kind, so protective, just so friendly and now, he's gone. I know he told me to leave but I just wish I stayed behind to help, he'll likely still be alive and Barbel will be dead. I still knew where the area was but I just couldn't bear to go back there. What if Xavi was still there? I couldn't see him that way, not like that. I'm alone again though, I know that was what I preferred back at home but I just felt so vulnerable now, so weak and helpless. Was I going to stand a chance against any of the other tributes here? I doubt it but I had to try, especially after making it this far.

I hear something snap across from me and I let out a small gasp. I'm sure whoever or whatever was around could hear it and I jump up to my feet and prepare to sprint away.

"Hey…" I hear a female's voice and I stop in my tracks, turning around to see it's Victoria, the career from district 2, she doesn't look mean like the others though.

"It's ok, I'm not going to hurt you." She assures me, she has some filth and dirt over her skin and her hair looks a little wild as she holds a spear in her hand but she looks sincere.

"You were with the guy from 3 right, Xavarion?" Victoria asks and I nod in response.

"What happened to him?" She asks.

"Barbel…he killed him." I mumble and she does a soft nod.

"I'm sorry, he seemed like a good guy, a strong one too though. I can't imagine Barbel is in good shape after fighting him." She comments.

"I don't know…Xavi told me to leave so, I left." I state.

"You remember where the place was?" she swipes a strand of hair from her eyes and I nod.

"Well we both want the same thing, we both want him dead, how about we stick together for a bit and finish him off?" She offers and I give her a hesitant look.

A temporary alliance to bring down Barbel…how could I refuse that? She seems sincere enough and I know she won't stab me in the back so I guess I should just accept.

"O-ok." I stammer.

"Good, we don't want to give him more time to recover so we should hurry up and head over there, odds are he's still there or around that area atleast, just lead the way." She states.

"Y-yeah ok." I answer and start guiding her in the right direction. Xavi, ill make sure Barbel doesn't get away with this…

10th place-Vendetta McClain-Stomped to death by Vladimir Licht: Vendetta i don't even know where to start with you. You easily got the most development out of all of the tributes in the first half of the story and i became very fond of you as you battled your internal demons while also choosing the violent path to go down to seek vengeance. Loss is awful, and everyone grieves differently. Going down this path was your way of grieving and trying to cope but unfortunately it was also the path that will spell the end for you. I never intended for you to be the victor. Eventually the capitol were going to discover Maria's body and from that point on they were going to find some way to get rid of you. Having one last showdown with your fiancee aswell as seeing his reaction to the decisions you made was in my opinion the perfect way to wrap up your arc, R.I.P. Vendetta.

Hey guys so here is the first part of day 7. I won't spoil much but i have quite a bit planned for this day and this first part was more of a "calm before the storm" kind of thing. Anyways part 2 will be here soon and these games won't be going on for much longer. Thank you so much for your reviews every one and this has been quite the ride, till next time!
