Sorry about not uploading yesterday. I had family stuff and the website wouldn't work. So here is chapter 37. 38 will be up later.
Crossroads
Ezra landed the modified Komr'k fighter on the pad outside the Wren stronghold. They hadn't been able to come back here in a little over three years. Ursa, and Alrich came to out meet them at the pad.
"Sabine, Ezra, kids, welcome home." Alrich laughed as he picked up Anna. "Have you all been behaving?"
"Yes, Grandfather." A chorus of voices said.
"Oh, you too Sabine, have you and Ezra been behaving?" He smirked at his daughter.
"Come on father. When have you ever known me to do something that reckless?" Sabine chuckled as she hugged her father.
"Way too many times, dear." Ezra added on as he leaned in and kissed her cheek. That earned him a light slap on the chest.
"I will re-educate you on how reckless I can be later, my love." She said as she stood on her toes and lightly kissed him.
"Ahem." Ursa faked coughed, attempting to get their attention. The two young adults turned around, slightly red in the face. "Now, on to more pressing matters. Do you think the New Republic will try and get you here?"
"No, mother. Even Mon Mothma would not be that stupid. She would send Skywalker to come retrieve us, maybe his sister as well." Sabine answered.
"Ezra, do you think it would be easier to turn yourself in?" Alrich asked.
"I remember how Mothma ran the Rebellion. She was exacting, calculating, she was never one to take an unnecessary measure. If she thinks that I am a threat to her precious Republic, then she will not stop until I am incarcerated or eliminated." Ezra grimaced.
"So, you thought that by coming here then this 'Skywalker' won't come to get you?" Ursa asked putting down Anna so she could join her sisters.
"Honestly, it was a threat to get him to leave and not return. I offered that if he wanted to take me to trial, it would be on Lothal or not at all. I could feel his resentment in the force, but also that he would come back. So, I asked Sabine to call you. I know that since Mandalore is not a part of the New Republic, that my family and I would be safe here. Or at least they will. If I have to leave to save them, so be it." Ezra looked over to where the girls were playing, regretting every minute he'd spent away from them.
"Let us pray that things do not come to that, son." Alrich placed a hand on Ezra's shoulder as they walked down the hall to the private wing in the stronghold. "You are our family. We will do all we can to protect you."
"I have no idea what they will send to come and arrest us. I only know that if things get too bad, then I will surrender myself to them." He sighed.
Sabine and Ezra took the girls to Sabine's old bedroom. After leaving them there, they went off on a walk around the lakeside.
New Republic
Luke was conflicted. He knew that this was wrong, Ezra was an ally and a good man who made a bad choice. That and those he killed were Imperial. However, Mon Mothma was the Chancellor. So, was he to report to her, or was he just to let it go? He sat to meditate on the matter. Not long after Mara Jade walked in, well, wobbled in.
"Hey, Luke. Still trying to figure out what to do about Ezra?" Mara sat on the bed, exhausted from her walk of about 20 meters.
"Yes. I know that the Jedi of old acted as a military force for the Republic. Should I do any different? Should we be keeping roles in the New Republic's military?" Luke asked, standing to meet Mara's gaze.
"You know me. I always like the action, but I think that part of the reason the Jedi Order fell was that they were a military force. At least that's what your father always said." Mara winced at the mention of Vader. He was never really kind to her.
"You are not wrong, dear. Regardless, Mothma is the Chancellor and she has given us a place here to build a temple. Who are we to not help her with this problem? Especially when it involves a Sith." Luke sat next to his wife and she leaned on him.
"I'm not saying we shouldn't be grateful that she has allowed us to work here, but we don't truly answer to her. We answer to the Force and the council. We are keepers of the peace, not soldiers." Mara leaned up and kissed his cheek. "Only you can decide what to do, but I will be with you all the way."
"Maybe I should speak to Leia about her opinion on the matter." Luke stood and Mara grabbed his arm.
"No. Her and Han have been fighting a lot recently. Besides, I want some alone time with you. In case you do decide to confront Bridger again." Mara stood and wrapped her arms around Luke. They stood like that till the sun set.
Krownest
Sabine leaned on Ezra as they walked around the large glistening lake. "Is your armor keeping you warm?" She asked. Not long after they arrived, Ezra was presented with his very own set of beskar armor and body suit fitted with an internal heater.
"Yes. It feels like a second skin. Is your suit working?" He asked cheekily since she was leaning very close to him. Her blue and black hair reaching down to her shoulder blades.
"No." She said in annoyance. "I think it has worn out." She smiled as he squeezed her closer. It did keep her warm, but she just wanted an excuse to be close to him. Not that she needed one.
"Well, we can always cut this little walk short and go get you a new one." Ezra grinned, earning him a slap on the shoulder.
"I like this. I want to spend time with you, alone. We always have the kids around. Don't get me wrong, I love them, but I miss just being with you. No kids, no Jedi stuff, no Sith, no anything. Just you and me." Sabine stood in front of him again and looked in his eyes. The white light of the moon shining off the lake. His electric blue eyes pierced her own hazel ones.
"I've missed you too, Sabine. I shouldn't have gone off. I'm sorry I left you, I'm sorry I couldn't save Valarie, I'm sorry about letting the twins get kidnapped." He reached up and caressed her left cheek. A tear fell down his face. "And I'm sorry for this." His thumb traced the scar on her cheek from the night he cut her. That horrible dream had come back a few times, but Sabine had always gotten to him first.
"Stop Ezra. It's not your fault about Val, or the twins, or the Sith, or the scar. These kinds of things happen. You are not all powerful. Last time you tried to be.." Her breath caught in her throat. "I almost lost you."
He saw her face and pulled her close again, not wanting her to relive those moments as much as he had. "I don't plan on going anywhere, but if Skywalker does come here for us, I will go with him to keep you safe." They stayed like this for a long time. The moon was high, the air was cold, and the two lovers stood in each other's arms till Sabine got an idea. Without warning, she grabbed Ezra's hand and took him back to the strong hold. Once there, they made sure the kids were asleep in the guest room that had been converted to be their room. Then she dragged him to her room and threw him on the bed.
"Uh, Sabine what are you doing?" He already had an idea, but he wanted her to be sure.
"I'm making it so you can't leave us. I know you won't go if I am with child." With that, she pounced like a Loth cat. Ezra had no time to react before she was on top of him, kissing him with never ending passion. This was going to be a long night, and he was going to enjoy every second of it.
Uggh! I had no idea where to go with this chapter, so I did what I normally do when I have no more idea's "kriff it! Baby time!". Also, I just read something saying that Ezra Bridger will play a major role in season 3 of the Mandalorian so I am stoked for that. After this story is all said and done, I may try and do one along that story. As always, reviews are appreciated. One more thing, I gave Ezra armor, but I don't know what the color scheme is, suggestions are welcome. Tb out!
