Royal Rumble: 25/1/2004

Match Card.

1. Evolution (Batista and Ric Flair) (c) vs The Dudley Boyz in a tag team tables match for the World Tag Team Championship.

2. Rey Mysterio (c) vs Jaime Noble w/Nidia in a singles match for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

3. Eddie Guerrero vs Chavo Guerrero in a singles match.

4. Brock Lesnar (c) vs Hardcore Holly in a singles match for the WWE Championship.

5. Triple H (c) vs Shawn Michaels in a Last Man Standing Match for the World Heavyweight Championship.

6. 2004 Royal Rumble match.

WWE Royal Rumble was live at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The event opened with Evolution (Batista and Ric Flair) defending the World Tag Team Championship against The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray and D-Von) in a Tables match. Jonathan Coachman interfered in the match as he distracted The Dudley Boyz, who attempted a Whassup on Coachman but Flair prevented the move. D-Von performed a Clothesline on Flair, allowing Batista to perform a Spinebuster through a table on D-Von to retain the title.

Next, Rey Mysterio defended the WWE Cruiserweight Championship against Jamie Noble. manager Nidia held Noble's legs, thinking he was Mysterio. Mysterio took advantage and performed a 619 and Droppin' Da Dime on Noble to retain the title.

After that, Eddie Guerrero faced Chavo Guerrero. Chavo Guerrero Sr. interfered and attacked Eddie throughout the match. Eddie performed the Three Amigos and a Frog Splash on Chavo to win the match. After the match, Eddie attacked Chavo and Chavo Sr., causing Chavo to bleed.

In the fourth match, Brock Lesnar defended the WWE Championship against Hardcore Holly. Holly performed an Alabama Slam on Lesnar and applied a Full Nelson on Lesnar. After the two rolled out of the ring, Lesnar broke the hold by performing a Hangman on Holly. Lesnar performed an F5 on Holly to retain the title.

In the fifth match, Triple H defended the World Heavyweight Championship against Shawn Michaels in a Last Man Standing match. Triple H attempted a Pedigree onto a steel chair on Michaels but Michaels countered and dropped Triple H onto the steel chair. Michaels attempted Sweet Chin Music on Triple H but Triple H low blowed Michaels. Triple H performed a DDT and a Pedigree on Michaels but Michaels stood at a 9 count. Michaels performed Sweet Chin Music on Triple H but fell himself, resulting in the match ending in a draw and Triple H retained the title.

Now it was time for the Royal Rumble match.


The main event was the annual 30-man Royal Rumble match, where the winner would get to wrestle the world champion of his brand at WrestleMania XX. Chris Benoit and Randy Orton were the first two entrants. As the match started, Benoit and Orton battled each other until Mark Henry entered at #3 and began attacking both Benoit and Orton. Tajiri entered at #4 and performed a Handspring Back Elbow on Orton. Orton battled Henry and Benoit battled Tajiri as the countdown for number 5 began.

The Devil's Wolf plays to a loud mixed reaction and the lights dim to a blood red and out comes the Bladewolf, making his way down the ramp to the ring.

"And here comes the Bladewolf!" JR said. "Making his third Royal Rumble match appearance. His first was in 1998 where he dominated and was one of the last two men with Stone Cold Steve Austin as the other!"

"And tonight he has a chance to win the Rumble and get the Main Event of WrestleMania and Championship gold." Tazz said, representing SmackDown as JR represents RAW.

Bladewolf takes off his metallic mask then takes off his jacket before he slides into the ring and takes Orton down with a clothesline, then takes Mark Henry down with a clothesline, then Benoit and Tajiri. Bladewolf turns as Orton attacks from behind, blows that don't faze the Demon Wolf who looks at Orton before he grabs him by the throat, lifts him up...AND PLANTS HIM WITH A CHOKESLAM!

Henry runs at him only to be caught by the throat a d with great strength, Bladewolf lifts Henry up...AND PLANTS HIM WITH A CHOKESLAM AS WELL! Bladewolf flips his hair back as his demonic hellfire eyes look through his demonic wolf mask when Tajiri attacks him from behind with a fury of blows that don't faze the former World Heavyweight Champion who turns to Tajiri, who goes wide eyed before he was grabbed by the throat, lifted up...AND PLANTED WITH A CHOKESLAM AS WELL!

Bladewolf looks at Benoit who stares him down and then runs at him, hitting a few lefts and rights before he backs up but Bladewolf boots him in the skull then picks Benoit up by the throat, lifts him straight into the air...AND PLANTS BENOIT WITH A CHOKESLAM!

Bladewolf looks at the carnage has has caused as the countdown for entrant #6 begins.

BUZZ!...

Rhyno's theme hits and out comes the SmackDown superstar who has his eyes on the Bladewolf, running straight down the ramp, slides into the ring...AND HITS BLADEWOLF WITH A GORE! Rhyno gets to his feet with a roar...BUT BLADEWOLF SAT RIGHT UP! Rhyno turned and went wide eyed as Bladewolf gets to his feet and stares Rhyno down who goes for for a right but Bladewolf grabs him by the throat, lifts him up...AND PLANTS HIM WITH A CHOKESLAM!

Tajiri attacks Bladewolf from behind who just uppercuts him, grabs Tajiri...AND TOSSES HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE! TAJIRI HAS BEEN ELIMINATED!

Bladewolf turns as Benoit runs into Mark Henry who goes over the top rope...AND DOWN TO THE FLOOR! HENRY HAS BEEN ELIMINATED!

Benoit turns and faces Bladewolf, the two walking forward before Benoit strikes first and Bladewolf retaliates, both of them trading rights back and fourth with each other until Benoit ducks one and hits a chop then goes for an Irish whip but Bladewolf reverses it and clotheslines Benoit when he comes running back. Bladewolf turns his attention to Orton and grabs the young superstar, tossing him into the cornerand unloads with lefts and rights on the Intercontinental Champion before delivering an uppercut that rocks Orton.

Bladewolf delivers a stomp to the stomach of Orton before pulling him close and hits a belly-to-belly suplex across the ring. Bladewolf stands up only to be tackled into the corner by Rhyno who furiously unloads on the Demon Wolf with strikes that don't faze the Demon Wolf, only piss him off as he shoves Rhyno down by his face.

The countdown for entry #7 begins.

Matt Hardy's theme hits and out comes Hardy who takes his coat off and makes his way down the ramp, sprinting once he was hafway down and slides into the ring, going for anyone, hitting Orton, Benoit, and Rhyno but pauses when he comes face to face with Bladewolf and holds his hands out in defence but Bladeowlf uppercuts Hardy before hitting a leg drop across Hardy's throat.

Bladewolf gets to his feet and grabs Hardy, tosses him into the corner and stomps away on him with hard, vicious stomps to the chest then headbutts Hardy before he walks away and boots Benoit in the face when the Rabid Wolverine ran at him. Bladewolf walks over to Orton and delivers hard rights to the young man, then knees him in the stomach a few times before hitting a German Suplex on Orton.

Rhyno clobbers Bladewolf from behind, this time Bladewolf goes to a knee as Rhyno delivers forearms to the back of Bladewolf, who then wraps his arms around him and tackles him into the ropes, the two nearly falling out but Bladewolf pulls Rhyno back and uppercuts him before he headbutts Rhyno then rebounds off the ropes...AND COMES RUNNING INTO A GORE!

Bladewolf tries sitting up again by Rhyno picks him up and drives him into the turnbuckle corner and drives his shoulder into Bladewolf's stomach multiple times only for Bladewolf to deliver an uppercut to Rhyno's chin.

Bladewolf grabs Rhyno and lifts him up...AND PLANTS HIM WITH A CHOKESLAM! Bladewolf turns only to be clotheslined over the top rope by Randy Orton...AND HE IS ELIMINATED! RANDY ORTON JUST ELIMINATED THE BLADEWOLF!

Bladewolf stares at Orton who laughs at him before he returns his attention to the match. Bladewolf just turns and starts heading up the ramp to go to the back...


And that's it for this chapter. Sorry Bladewolf didn't win the Rumble, but Chris Benoit earned the 2004 Rumble match and his World Heavyweight Title shot at WrestleMania 20.

In this Rumble, he eliminated just one person.
