Chapter 44

CALLIE'S :

After about four or five hours after arriving at the hospital, we were finally released. They had us set up an appointment for tomorrow morning to have a D&C done to ward off any kind of infection. When we finally got into the car, we made our way over to Teddy's to pick up Noah. She kept an eye on him for us while we were at the hospital. After pulling in front of our apartment building, I shifted the car into park. I made my way around to Arizona's side, but she was already out before I could open her door.

"I'm going to go pick up Noah," I tell her, as I unlocked the door. "Do you want to come with me?"

"I just want to lay down," She tells me.

"Okay, well let me hel..."

"I can walk to the room, Callie. I need my hand held." She snaps, cutting me off.

"Okay, I was just trying to help, babe." I followed behind her as she made her way to our bedroom.

"Do you need anything?" I ask her.

"I just need Noah. Can you please just go get him?" She snapped again. Nodding my head, I made my way out of the bedroom, then out the door to pick up our son.

Ten minutes later, I pulled into the drive and shifted into park. Wiping away the tears that threatened to fall, I finally got out of the car and made my way to the door. Teddy was standing there in the doorway, with Noah in her arms.

"How is she?" Teddy asks. I just shook my head.

"We lost the baby," I tell her.

"Fuck!" Came her reply. "How's she holding up?"

"She's not. She hasn't spoken a word since we left the hospital. I tried to help her to bed when we got home, but she just snapped at me." I tell her.

"Give her time. It's a lot to handle." She tells me, handing Noah to me.

"Hey Buddy," I say, greeting my son. Wiping away another tear, I give my son a warm smile.

"His car seat is inside." She says, stepping aside so I can come in. Just as I walked through the door, Tim walks into the room.

"Callie, Hey. How's Arizona?"

"Tim," Teddy says, touching her husband's arm, then shakes her head.

"Damnit." He says, rubbing his forehead. "Want me to talk to her?"

"No. I'll talk to her. She's at the apartment right now, resting. They're having us come in tomorrow so they can do a D&C."

"No, she wants him home. She literally snapped at me the second time when I asked her if she needed anything, and all she said she wanted was Noah. We can bring him back tomorrow before the appointment. I don't want to piss her off or anything."

"Okay, well just keep us updated on how everything goes. Give Arizona our love."

"I will," I tell her as I snapped Noah into his car seat. "Ready to go see Mommy, Bud? She was asking for you." Lifting him up, I made my way to the front door.

"Callie," Teddy calls out. I turned around so I was facing her. "I'm sorry about the baby."

"Thanks, Teddy," I say, then head back out to the car.

Walking into the apartment, I set Noah's carrier down on the couch. After unbuckling the 5-month-old, I carefully lift him out. "Hey there Champ. Mommy isn't feeling well today, maybe some No No cuddles will make her feel better. What do you say?" I ask him, as we walk into the bedroom, but Arizona was sound asleep, at least that's what it looked like. She had her back turned to me. Instead of walking up to her side of the bed, I turned around, making my way back out to the living room, so we don't wake her. After a couple of hours hanging out with Noah, getting him changed and fed, it was time to put him down. As I got up, Arizona comes walking out of the bedroom.

"Hey No." She whispers to him, giving him a kiss on his head.

"Did you sleep okay?" I asked her. She didn't answer. "Arizona?"

"What, Callie?" She snaps.

"I asked you if you slept okay."

"No, I didn't sleep okay. If I had Noah, then maybe I would have. I told you I needed Noah, but you decided to keep him out here."

"I tried to bring him in, but it looked like you were asleep, so we left the room, so you could sleep."

"But I wasn't asleep, Callie." Her voice getting loud. Noah apparently was feeling all the tension that was between us, because he started to fuss. Pressing her face against his, she whispered to him, "It's okay, Bud. Mommy's got you." Then turned and walked back into the bedroom. I sat down on the couch, putting my hands to my face, and sobbed.

Laying in bed, I couldn't help but think about the day that we had. Not being able to get the image of Arizona bent over in pain, then seeing the look of defeat on her face when we found out our baby was gone. Just as I was about to finally fall asleep, my phone rang. Looking at the caller I.D, I saw that it was Addison.

"Hello?" I answer in a whisper.

"Callie?"

"Yeah, it's me. Hold on." I tell her.Looking over at Arizona, who was asleep sitting up and leaning against the headboard with Noah asleep on her chest, Istood up from my side of the bed and made my way back out to the living room. "Hey, what's up Adds."

"Hey, I just wanted to let you know, I'm outside your door." What? I walked over to the door and opened it. Sure enough, Addison was standing right there on my doorstep. I dropped my phone on the ground and pulled my best friend in for a hug, and sobbed.

"Hey, shh, I got you." She says, holding me tight.

"I'm sorry." I tell her, pulling away.

"No need to apologize. Teddy called me earlier after you picked up Noah. She told me I needed to come as soon as possible. What the hell is going on?"

"We lost the baby," I tell her, wiping the tears from my eyes.

"Baby? What baby?" Crap!

"Arizona was pregnant again," I tell her. "We found over a week ago. I meant to call you and tell you, but I just completely spaced. But yeah, she was pregnant again. Then this afternoon, when we were working, she tried calling me, but I didn't answer. I was so wrapped up in everything that was going on, We were in the middle of a recording and I just thought her hormones were getting the best of her as they have been, so I didn't answer." I tell her, my voice starting to break once more. "When I finally went into the office, she was bent over, holding her stomach. She looked up at me with tears in her eyes."

"Oh, Sweetie. I'm so sorry." She says to me, pulling me back in for another hug.

"When we got to the hospital, they said we lost the baby." I choked out. "We were supposed to get married next month, but I highly doubt that is happening now. and I'm afraid to ask her about it. Afraid she's going to snap at me if I try."

"Do you want to have a drink?" She asks me.

"Addison, it's 2:30 in the morning. It's way too late to go have a drink."

"Not when we're drinking here." She says, pulling a bottle of wine from her purse.

"What did you do? Smuggle that onto the plane?" I say, letting out a little laugh.

"No, I stopped on my way here and picked it up. Thinking you would need it, and clearly, you do. Come on." She says, grabbing my hand and pulling me to the bar of the kitchen. We sat and talked for hours about how Arizona was taking everything. Not realizing the time, Arizona comes waltzing out of the bedroom, Noah still in her arms. She looks at me, then takes a look at Addison.

"What are you doing here?" She asks my best friend. "Why are you drinking at.." Stopping mid-sentence to check the clock, "6 a.m?" She steps closer to me, looking me in the eye. "Are you drunk?" I didn't say anything. I didn't know how to answer her.

"It's my fault." Addison tells her, "I thought she could use a drink after the day you guys had. Callie told me you los..."

"Don't say it." She snaps, raising her hand to stop Addison from saying the M-word. "Callie, you knew we had an appointment this morning."

"I know, babe. I'm sorry.." Letting out a scoff, she walked into Noah's room and slammed the door.

*So, Arizona isn't taking too well on the miscarriage. Think she was in the wrong to get upset with Callie? Think there will still be a wedding? Let me know what you think. More updates tomorrow.*
