Prompt 45 - with an obvious "pre-all-in" added for good measure! "I'm your lock screen?!" - "You weren't supposed to see that."
"Crap, my phone just died in the middle of a text," Kensi groaned, tossing it on the coffee table in front of her. Deeks was sitting beside her, watching the latest ANTM with morbid fascination. "Can I use yours?"
"Sure," he said, passing her his phone, eyes glued to the TV as some poor model was liberally doused in green pain and then asked to act the color out. Kensi shook her head, amused at Deeks' inability to look away despite not actually liking the show.
She tapped the home button and froze at the image that appeared on the screen. She stared at it for several moments, then turned to Deeks who was completely unaware.
"I'm your lock screen?" she asked in a soft voice, turning the phone as though Deeks didn't know perfectly well that it displayed a picture of her. It was one of the ones she'd sent him while in Afghanistan.
Deeks stilled beside her, his jaw flexing a couple times. For a minute she thought he wasn't going to respond, but then he brushed his bangs off his forehead.
"You weren't supposed to see that," he muttered nervously.
"How long have you had this on here?"
"A few months." Kensi raised an eyebrow and suddenly he was tripping over himself to explain. "Ok, maybe longer. It started when you were in Afghanistan. I missed you so much and then you sent me that picture and I figured that if I couldn't have you here in person, then this was the next best thing."
Taking his hand, Kensi gave it a squeeze until he looked up at her. His face was adorably flushed.
"That's really sweet, Deeks," she said. His answering smile was shy and a little nervous. God, she wanted to kiss him right now. She batted the thought away before she could act on it.
"You don't think it's creepy?" he checked. She shook her head.
"Get me your charger," she told him. Deeks raised an eyebrow at the odd, and seemingly random request, but got up and went into his bedroom anyway. He came back a minute later with the the charger.
"You gonna tell me what this is about?" he asked as they waited for her phone to charge enough to turn back on.
"Be patient." A few minutes later, she turned it back on, suddenly feeling just as nervous as Deeks had seemed. She handed it to him slowly, biting on her bottom lip as he took it.
"This better not be porn." He arched one eyebrow at her as he jabbed the the button. "Wow, that's me in my suit. I, uh, I didn't realize you kept that," he murmured, glancing up at her from under his bangs.
"Of course I did," Kensi replied, offended that he would think such a thing. "The pictures you sent me kept me going. Those first couple weeks I was lonely and isolated and quite honestly, in shock. Seeing your face made me feel…at home."
"I make you feel at home?" Deeks asked quietly, his gaze intense and filled with something that Kensi wasn't sure she wanted to deal with just now.
"Yes. You have for a long time." She reached out to take her phone back, letting her fingers brush his as she did.
"Me too," he said a few minutes later. Kensi didn't have the courage to look him in the eyes, too afraid she'd see the same affection she felt, but she squeezed his hand one more time. And didn't let go nearly as quickly as she should.
A/N: We have pre-Densi as requested, with a side of pining and a little angst.
