21. Cultists?

Planet 58, Iraam

Rimor's pov

Rimor swam up to the surface clutching a stone in his hands and willed the water to propel towards the isolated island. This planet itself was ninety percent oceans. The perfect place for a Son of Poseidon to go treasure hunting under the sea. The creatures in these oceans did not recognize him fully, only knowing that he was a friend of the sea and that he would not hurt them. Their voices in his head were different than the fishes on Earth.

He dragged himself up to the sandy beach. He ran to a clump of rocks and stuck his hand in a hole in between them. He pulled out his trusty backpack. Over the period of last year, he had quite a few changes to the bag. It was now enchanted to never run out of space and equipped with many compartments, each with its own uses.

He slipped the teardrop clear gem in a tiny pocket on the side. It had taken him two hours to find one with the right properties. The gem had some magical properties that he had wanted along with some alloys that would be a powerful accessory.

The clinking of boots alerted Rimor to another presence on the island. Huh, this island isn't as isolated as I had thought it was. Rimor quickly slung his backpack over his shoulder dived behind the clump of rocks, hoping that they can shield him from the eyes of the people passing by. He knew that it could very well be some explorers just like him but something in his gut told him that these people coming were dangerous and highly armed. His control over the water vapor in the air had highly increased and on such a planet with oceans everywhere, his powers were at the peak. He can also sense any creature or object in his general vicinity.

Suddenly the stomping of boots stopped. Rimor sensed that they were a few feet away from the chunk of rocks he was hiding behind. He manipulated the water vapor in the air to be able to hear their conversation.

"Commander has ordered us to go into the city, we need to monitor the citizens." The language he realized was not English or any other language he had come to know in the time of his stay outside Earth. It sounded ancient, harsh some might say. The speaker sounded male.

Another man, he assumed there were only the two of them there, spoke, "Has the Commander arrived yet?"

"No, he is held up by that pesky army of Chaos. Though his arrival is only delayed by a day. He will be here on the 'morrow."

"The army of Chaos and Order may be oblivious to our Lord's rise for now but we must prepare for when it becomes common knowledge." Rimor could hear the warning in the man's words. They were certainly some type of illegal cult but who is their Lord? To be against the armies of Chaos and Order, they certainly have to be some sort of criminals since he had checked up the army of Chaos and Order. They as far as he had seen were fighting for good of the universe. Mental note to research more on the armies of Chaos and Order. Last time he had only skimmed the surface about them.

When he got out of his thoughts, he realized that he had missed most of the conversation.

"-recruit more warriors. The base here shall be hidden enough. Although, it will be more secure once the Commander comes in." Soon enough he heard the tell-tale sounds of clinking boots on the sands and the sounds of a boat moving through the ocean.

Rimor sent out his senses to see if anyone was still around. After sensing no life force except for sea creatures close to the bay. He slowly got up and moved ahead of the clump of rocks he was hiding behind. Now the question remains if he is going to spy on the supposed base established here by this cult or go home and come back another day more prepared.

This Commander sounds like a powerful person. Best I don't have to confront him so soon before having any knowledge of what they do. Since, it seems he is arriving here tomorrow, might as well spy on them while they are still less in numbers. Rimor decides and pulls out his cloak from the backpack and pulls on the hood. Just in case. He thinks.

Rimor slipped his backpack underneath his cloak and climbed up on the trees and swiftly jumped making his way over to any suspicious-looking place. He quickly happened upon an abandoned facility to find fifty or so soldiers with blood-red armour training with all assortments of weapons. Their armours had a peculiar symbol on them.

He didn't know what it meant, yet it sent chills down his back. It seemed that this was definitely the base those men were speaking of. There were all kinds of creatures in that field fighting brutally as if to the death, not even the Ares' kids fought this brutally.

Rimor quickly got down from his position in the tree as discreetly as he could and blended into the first shadow he spotted. He had been practicing with the powers gifted to him. He shadow travelled inside the facility making sure he stayed in the shadow so that no one could see him and contained his aura. He had appeared in a hallway. Many people walked past him as if he were invisible. He let out an inaudible sigh of relief.

The crowd going through the hallways abruptly moved to the walls in unison. Rimor shrunk farther back into the shadows wondering if the Commander decided to make an appearance early. That would indeed end very badly for him. A group of people led by an elf-like lady walked with authority in the middle of the hallway. All the people pressed against the wall were looking like soldiers standing in attention.

The elf-like lady had the stereotypical pointy ears, her complexion was pale green combined with brown hair coming down in waves along with a pair of tiny red horns. She practically radiated authority and arrogance. Behind her were two ogres detaining a very frightened girl. She looked to be a teenager yet wise beyond her years. She looked like a local on this planet. Tears were flowing freely across her oval face but her eyes held defiance.

There were murmurs and whispers among the other warriors. He caught the words 'Lieutenant' and 'Order's army' faintly. So, the elf lady is the Lieutenant. He did not know what Order's army had to do with this but it looked like he's going to find out.

They were headed to a heavy metal door at the end of the hallway. Rimor quietly slipped into the shadows and surfaced into the room beyond the metal doors. It seemed like it was a meeting room. Like most of the people and places he'd seen on this facility, it was heavily armed. Suits of armour lay around along with spears, swords, and metal ball whips.

The doors then swung open and Rimor sunk into the shadows observing what they were about to do. The Lieutenant gracefully strutted into the room followed by her ogre goons who were detaining the girl. They pushed her into a chair and tied her up. Her tears had dried and her eyes and nose were puffed up.

"Now," the Lieutenant stalked in front of the girl, "Maya Ferir, your brother is an angel of Order is he not?" She pulled out her knife and started admiring absentmindedly.

"I-I don't know what you are talking about. My bro-brother is not an a-angel of Order." she stuttered out.

The knife that had been in the Lieutenant's hand now embedded itself in the wall chopping off a good portion of the girl's hair. Her face was now stricken white. "Don't lie to me, you insolent child," the Lieutenant snarled.

"Tell me what you know about Order's plans," she demanded.

"I-I do not know."

She whimpered slightly when the Lieutenants held a knife to her throat. "Talk, you Iraamian. Talk or else you will be rotting in the cells with the other insubordinates."

All the while the ogres were standing in front of the door with smirks on their faces. Rimor hated it, they were laughing at the pain of an innocent civilian. At that time Rimor made a very important decision, one that might change the tides of the future.

He summoned two of his daggers using his watch and threw them consecutively at the evil grinning ogres. They dropped dead the next second and Rimor dropped casually in front of the door to avoid the Lieutenant escaping or calling for the guards.

By this time the girl had fainted from the suffocation and the Lieutenant looked raging mad. "Who are you?" she shrieked at him. She tapped a button on her neck and full armour appeared complete with a black sword. It was a different metal than he had ever seen.

"None of your concern. All you need to know is that I will stop you." A raging dance of swords clashing with each other began. To an outsider, it would have looked like a blur. The Lieutenant was fast, faster than he predicted but he could see the predictability in her sword fighting. He blocked and parried each strike she made. They were almost equal in their battle prowess.

"I must admit, you are good. If only you didn't meddle in business that wasn't yours. You would be a good addition to our army," she stated after they jumped apart and started circling each other. "Join our Lord in our purpose to recreate the universe," she proposed casually like she wasn't telling him that they want to destroy this universe and recreate it.

"No thanks, I very like this universe as it is," he declined. "Who is your almighty crazy Lord anyway?" he asked mockingly.

The Lieutenant screamed in rage and attacked him furiously. "Do not mock our Lord. He will rise more powerful than Chaos and Order themselves," she hissed.

She was good at fighting but paired with her angry emotions distracting her, Rimor was better. He dodged the sword about to slice his head off and struck his own in her chest. He was panting by the time she was dead. Several thoughts filled his head but right now he had to concentrate on getting the girl out of here along with the rest of the prisoners in the cells.

He had to distract the other guards before they knew that their precious Lieutenant was dead. He shadow travelled to the middle of what seemed like a cafeteria. The mood there was quite sombre for what reason he did not know. It seems that they chose the wrong path. He summoned a small pouch with a very special bottle in it. He threw it a few feet ahead of him and sunk into the shadows.

Soon, a loud commotion drew everyone to the cafeteria. The fire was spreading everywhere and it cannot be stopped by some water. It was Chaotic fire; it was very hard for Rimor to get and harder to come out alive. This is almost worth the risk, he smirked and shadow travelled back to the meeting room.

The cells were directly below this room if his senses were correct. He used his earth shaker powers to make a hole in the floor. There were two guards there who witnessed his entrance and charged at him. He made quick work of them and stole the keys of the cell.

No other guards were there, they most likely went to help with the fire so, he quickly opened the cell. Inside was a group of all kinds of species. He couldn't name all of them but assumed they were all kidnapped for some nefarious reason. A boy younger than him was in there as well. "Please don't hurt us." Fear was illuminated in each of their eyes.

"I am not here to hurt you, "Rimor reassured. " I want to help you escape. C'mon stand up." Hope flickered in their empty eyes as they stood up "Really?" He could tell they had lost the hope to be rescued.

"Yes, really. Now, wait here while I grab someone else." With that, he ran over to the hole in the ceiling, jumped up, and hoisted himself to the floor. He untied the girl's bonds and gently carried her to the prisoners.

He told them to grab hold of each other and used a device like the compass teleporter to teleport them to the beach. He tried to feel if there was any type of vessel to take to the mainland. He summoned a boat and told them to get on travel to the mainland by giving them directions. He gently put the unconscious girl in the boat too. "Tell the army of Order patrolling about this island and take the girl to a hospital while I stay back to finish the job."

He willed the waves to take them to the mainland so they don't get lost. "Wait who are you?" someone from the escapee prisoners called.

"You can call me Aleixo," he called and shadow travelled to the facility and saw that fire had consumed the entire facility, there were some stragglers still living but he left them to be interrogated by the Army of Order. He climbed a tree and summoned another bottle similar to the Chaotic fire one. He threw in the fire, and the fire started to be extinguished. Can't let the whole island burn down now, can I? he thought as he used the compass teleporter to take him back to Mori.
