Chapter: 29

I was ready for the stupid ball. It was 4 long and tedious hours of getting ready. Apparently all the hair pulling, eye poking, and skin destroying stuff was worth it because I looked good. I'm not trying to be cocky of anything, but I loved how I looked.

I would have never imagined myself to wear a green gown, but it seemed that it was made for me. I usually wouldn't say I looked good in clothes, but I couldn't deny it. And having friends like mine when all they do it hype you up you can't help not to feel empowered.

"You look fucking amazing" Athena squealed excitedly.

"Says you" I scoffed looking at her in her beautiful silvery blue dress. She looked like Cinderella from the muggle tales.

"You really do" agreed Ginny.

"Again says you" I smiled brightly at Ginny. "If only Harry was here."

Ginny was wearing a gorgeous red dress. At first Ginny didn't want to wear red because of her hair, but it only seemed to bring out her hair more. I know it's kind of confusing to explain, but she looked like a beautiful ball of fire.

"Let's go, best not keep our dates waiting" giggled Athena.

Luna and Athena hadn't been able to see each other in their dresses yet. Athena wanted to keep it a surprise from her so they could see each other the day of. Luna wasn't very keen on this, but she wanted to make Athena happy. So they were seeing each other both for the first times in their dresses.

"I don't have a date" Ginny said matter-o-factly.

"Yeah yeah yeah, but you know what I meant" Athena rolled her eyes.

Ginny didn't want to go with anyone to the dance because she was dating Harry. She didn't want it to seem like she was cheating on him by going with someone else so we said that she could tag along with all of us which she happily accepted.

"I almost forgot you were going with Theo" Ginny said randomly.

"Yeah, but it's only as friends."

"It seems that Theo and Hannah are getting closer. I see them hanging out a lot by the lake and stuff" Ginny mused.

What was this girl playing at?

"And what about it?" I asked raising a brow.

She had randomly just brought up the topic so it was clear she was trying to say something about the pair. Sure I would have never thought about the odd pairing, but I actually loved it. Theo was getting the help he so desperately needed while finding love with Hannah. Well maybe not love, yet, I'm getting ahead of myself.

"Isn't it weird that your date is cuddling up with someone else? I mean what would everyone else think?" Ginny asked. She wasn't asking because she was concerned. I think it was more to see my own reaction about the weird situation.

"Since when did I care what other people think of me?" I shook my head, chuckling airily to Ginny.

"I'm just saying."

"I know and you mean well Ginny, but Theo can do whatever he wants. We aren't dating" and she gave me a look, "and we will never be dating. I actually really like Hannah and Theo together."

"I know I just don't want you to be the center of gossip" Ginny rubbed my back soothingly.

"If I am I don't really care. I can just stick my middle finger up at everyone looking at me and move on with my life" I joked, but it was something I would do.

"Ready?" Athena interrupted us both.

We both nodded at her as we exited the doors of our room and entered the common room. Theo was waiting for me outside the entrance. He claimed that he didn't want to waste time in figuring out the password, but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be able to.

Luna's eyes visibly lit up at the sight of Athena in her silvery blue gown. I say silvery blue, but it's more of a baby blue gown. Either way she reminded me of the muggle princess Cinderella. She was beautiful and breath captivating.

Luna was wearing a simple yellow dress. It was magnificently Luna. She had wore a yellow dress at the Weasley's wedding back in August when Fleur and Bill had gotten married. It was short and simple. There were beautiful yellow sunflowers all over the dress and I loved how it was just so Luna.

I saw Athena's breath hitch at the sight of Luna. It looked like they could care less about the dresses. They were just looking at each other like themselves. The dresses were just mere accessories to enhance their natural beauty.

"Wow" Athena breathed walking toward Luna. Luna walked forward toward Athena.

What I loved about them was the fact that neither looked each other up and down. They just stared into each others eyes, knowing that they were beautiful with or without the dresses. I just loved every aspect of their relationship. It was perfect and I was even a little jealous of it.

"Wow yourself" Luna nudged Athena.

Athena didn't even have time to reply when Luna captured her in a kiss. Ginny and I watched as their lips moved against each other like they were made for one another. And they were. I smiled softly to Ginny who knew that the two were going to get married. If they didn't I would cry.

Athena and Luna pulled away they're faces merely a small centimeter away from each other. "Merlin your captivating" Luna said softly to Athena.

Athena didn't know how Luna did it. It was just something about the way she said words that made her hooked like on a drug. The way her melodic and soft voice flowed out words that were so beautifully said. It was crazy how three words could make Athena's heart melt so much and make her cheeks go aflame.

"Your so beautiful Luna" Athena replied in her love filled daze.

It was now Luna's turn to blush as her pale cheeks turned into a furious pink. Ginny and I were both visibly envious of the twos relationship.

There was no denying that Luna Lovegood and Athena Blackwood were soulmates. To say anything less was preposterous. No one in the world could deny it.

"Goddrick they make my heart melt" Ginny whispered to me.

"I know. How can two people be so perfect for each other?" I whispered my reply.

"They make it look so fucking effortless."

"How unfair is that? They are both fucking beautiful and they have the perfect relationship" I whispered. "I mean like I'm not scared to say that I am just a tad bit envious."

"You know we can here you guys right?" Luna said serenely, interlocking her fingers with Athena's.

"Eh not like we said anything bad" Ginny shrugged it off.

Athena and Luna went ahead to the ball and through the portrait hole. Ginny wrapped an arm around my shoulders as we walked to the portrait. We took our sweet time, not really caring about the ball, but chatting away about Luna and Athena.

We both agreed that we were the captains of the ship.

I walked out of the portrait and met the hazel eyes of Theodore Nott. His eyes were wide in shock and I blushed under his gaze. He looked my body up and down, but not in a disrespectful way.

"You look amazing Addy" Theo said linking our arms.

"And don't you look quite dashing" I chuckled to Theo.

Ginny trailed behind us, talking to another Gryffindor that had passed by. Sometimes I forget that Ginny had other friends beside us, her idiotic Ravenclaws.

"You told me you were wearing green, but I didn't think you'd look this fantastic. I mean Merlin you really know how to take the breath of a man" Theo complimented.

"I wouldn't call you a man" I smirked to Theo.

"Excuse you, but I am 18 years old. Legal adult and can apparate. I'd say I'm a man."

"Debatable" I rolled my eyes to Theo's cocky demeanor.

That's what I loved about Theo. We could compliment each other without being weirdly flirty or awkward. It was one of the many things that I admired about our friendship. I knew that Theo and Hannah were getting along quite nicely and that we could be nice to each other without people assuming things.

"Just wait till you see Hannah" I hinted making Theo turn to face me.

It amazed me how her name could make Theo's attention snap to me. Oh Merlin if he thought that I looked good then he'd have to wait till he saw Hannah because I saw her dress and it was beautiful. She looked like a blonde Belle from a muggle tale called Beauty and the Beast.

"Who's she going with anyways?" Theo asked and I shot him a look whilst smirking. "What I'm just curious" he defended.

"If you must know she's going with Ernie Macmillan" I answered. "He's another Hufflepuff."

"Right" Theo nodded slowly.

We met the door of the ball room. It was the same room as the Yule Ball who I went with Harry Potter. We went together as friends and because he didn't have a date. At the time I wanted Fred to ask me, but I also had a small thing with Ron. It was all very complicated.

"Why? Jealous?" I mused.

"Of course not" Theo scoffed to quickly.

He was a shit liar if anything. The way his brows furrowed and the light pink tinge that appeared on his cheeks was enough to tell that he was jealous, but I decided not to push it.

"Wow" I looked around the ball room. It looked like it had during the Yule Ball. There were multiple silver tables with glasses and plates on them. There was a large ever green tree in the middle of the room with two smaller trees beside it.

It all had a silver blue theme to it much like Athena's gown. It was captivating and the room looked as if it was carved out of ice. The ceiling sparkled with festive icicles hanging from them. Okay so maybe it was made out of ice, I'll never know.

"Damn they really put a lot of effort in this" Theo nodded approvingly. "Come on let's get a drink."

I spotted Hermione by the food table, most likely making sure that no one spikes the punch which I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

"Hermione great job. It looks fucking amazing" I applauded her.

She blushed looking away for a second. I loved that Hermione would blush at the smallest of compliments or get so happy. "Thanks and you look amazing."

"As do you" I curtsied to her and she curtsied to me as well.

Blaise came from behind the food table, pulling out a small metal flask and flashed me a cheeky smile showing his bright white teeth. He poured whatever the flask contained into the punch bowl before winking at me and scurrying away.

I held back a chuckle as Blaise left, most likely to find Neville. Hermione was ever so clueless about what had jut conspired literally right behind her back. She turned to watch the table even though the punch had already been spiked.

"Come on let's get something to drink" I smirked to Theo. "Wait nope not you, me."

I had almost forgotten that Theo was not only being rehabilitated for his extensive drug use, but for is drinking habit. Theo nodded in understanding and didn't even look like he wanted to drink which made me smile.

I poured myself a cup of punch, sniffing it to try to identify the alcohol that Blaise used, but I couldn't. You could definitely smell the pungent alcohol, but I couldn't pinpoint what type it was.

I took a sip of the punch, scrunching my nose as the alcohol burned down my throat mixed with the fruity flavor of the punch. That was when I knew.

Definitely firewhiskey
