The sky had turned red, the light from the comet illuminating your face as you looked around.

"Zuko, don't worry." Katara said quietly. "We can take Azula."

"I'm not worried about her. I'm worried about Aang. What if he doesn't have the guts to take out my father?" He asked.

You looked over at him, seeing that you weren't the only one with your hair whipping you in the face.

Zuko stared at Katara seriously. "What if he loses?"

"Aang won't lose." She denied firmly. "Aang's going to come back. He has to." She muttered, looking forward.

You turned back towards the sky.

"By decree of Phoenix King Ozai, I now crown you Firelord-" The man stopped, seeing Appa come into view.

Azula turned around, facing the man. "What are you waiting for? Do it." She turned back around, seeing Appa land.

Zuko stood. "Sorry. But you're not going to become Firelord today." He jumped off, landing on the ground. "I am."

Azula laughed. "You're hilarious."

You and Katara slid off Appa, standing on either side of Zuko.

"You're going down." Katara told her.

Azula's eyes landed on you.

Your eyes narrowed and you saw her expression shift slightly.

The man moved to place the crown on Azula's head.

She held up a hand. "Wait." She instructed, looking back at Zuko. She stood. "You want to be Firelord? Fine. Let's settle this. Just you and me, brother. The showdown that was always meant to be: Agni Kai."

Zuko grit his teeth. "You're on."

You and Katara's heads snapped towards him.

"What are you doing?" Katara hissed. "She's playing you. She knows she can't take us all, so she's trying to separate us."

"I know. But I can take her this time."

"But even you admitted to your Uncle that you would need help facing Azula."

You glanced back over at Azula, seeing her smirk as she watched Zuko.

"There's something off about her." Zuko remarked. "I can't explain it, but she's slipping." He looked over at Katara. "And this way, no one else has to get hurt."

Zuko and Azula both kneeled on opposite ends of the courtyard, backs facing each other.

They stood, facing each other.

Azula pulled her cloak off, revealing her armor underneath as she dropped it. "I'm sorry it has to end this way, brother."

Zuko held his hands up, ready for a battle. "No you're not."

Azula struck first, her blue fire filling your vision with the help of the comet.

Zuko took a small leap forward, drawing his own fire and clashing it against her blue.

The fires connected, creating a large wall of flame.

Azula leapt into the air, sending several attacks while she spun and kicked.

They continued shooting at each other, sending sparks flying and lighting the buildings around the courtyard on fire.

Azula and Zuko fired at each other, both holding their positions as the clashing flames split down the middle and passed each other.

They both stopped.

Azula turned around, seeing the palace on fire. She looked back at Zuko, her eyes filled with a crazed rage. She shot herself into the air, bringing down a fire kick.

Zuko spread his arms, his fire pushing her blue fire aside.

Azula panted, glaring.

Zuko shot at her, two spiraling fireballs fusing into one.

Azula jumped to the side, blue flames coming out of her feet as she charged Zuko, sending long attacks at him.

Zuko launched himself into the air, coming down with a fire kick.

Azula blocked it before shooting again.

Zuko brought his hands together as he crouched, splitting her attack.

Azula slid around him, her movements and attacks large and wild.

Zuko deflected and attacked with much more careful precision. He followed her with a blast of fire before getting down and spinning on his back, fire filling your vision.

It knocked Azula off balance.

She rolled before getting to her hands and knees.

Her hair was completely disheveled, out of its half-hazard bun that it had been in before.

"No lightning today!?" Zuko challenged. "What's the matter? Afraid I'll redirect it?!"

"Oh." Azula drug out. "I'll show you lightning!" She began to summon it, large and uncontrolled.

Zuko breathed deeply, preparing himself.

Azula hesitated, then shot at you and Katara.

Zuko ran towards the lightning. "No!" He leapt into the air, catching it. He let it out of his other hand as he hit the ground.

"Zuko!" You and Katara yelled.

Lightning was emerging from Zuko, and he was twitching on the ground.

He let out a groan.

You and Katara rushed for him, but a blue blast of fire landed in front of you.

Azula cackled like a maniac before charging.

You and Katara jumped to the sides, avoiding her.

She kept rushing you.

You both evaded her again.

Azula disappeared.

You tried to go to Zuko again, but another blast landed in front of you. You lifted your arms, shielding your face. You let out a small hiss of pain as a few sparks hit your skin.

Azula stood atop a building. "I'd really rather our family physician look after Zuzu if you don't mind!" She yelled, summoning more lightning.

You and Katara rushed behind pillars, avoiding the attack.

"Zuzu, you don't look so good!" Azula hollered.

She shot more fire at you.

You and Katara rushed to other pillars.

"I have to get to him!" You shouted, glancing back at Zuko.

"You can't!" Katara replied. "Not until Azula's taken out! You can't reach him, otherwise."

You nodded, flinching as a blast landed to your side.

Katara shot water at the roof, pausing when she noticed Azula wasn't there.

You turned around.

Azula emerged from behind you, laughing.

You and Katara ran out.

Azula shot large fire blasts at the both of you.

Katara summoned water, turning it into ice as she slid away.

You shot icicles at Azula, trying to keep her away from Katara.

Azula burned your attacks while destroying Katara's ice.

Katara stumbled, rushing under a roof.

"There you are, filthy peasant!" Azula shouted.

"Katara!" You yelled, rushing over.

Azula moved to attack Katara, but stopped.

Your hands were raised, your expression unreadable.

Katara's eyebrows furrowed.

Azula grunted.

You walked towards her, forcing her to her knees.

Katara looked over at you.

You moved your hands and Azula's arms moved together behind her back.

Katara walked towards her, tying a chain around her wrists and latching it to a grate in the ground.

You released your hold on Azula before turning and rushing towards Zuko. You slid on your knees, no doubt scraping them up, landing next to him. You rolled him over onto his back, drawing water and beginning to heal his stomach. "Come on, Zuko." You pleaded quietly.

Zuko's eyes were shut and he grit his teeth before he relaxed once the worst of the pain had subsided.

Katara stood over you, watching with worry.

Zuko's eyes opened and you and Katara helped him sit up.

"Thank you." He muttered.

You nodded.

Zuko stood, holding his stomach as he looked at Azula.

She was writhing on the ground, crying and blowing blue fire from her mouth.

Katara looked over to you. "How did you do that?'

"Do what?"

"You know… without the full moon?"

You looked up.

The moon wasn't full.

You looked back, seeing Katara and Zuko both looking at you. You shrugged. "I'm not sure." You admitted quietly. "I mean, I had to do something." You gestured. "She almost killed Zuko and she was trying to kill you." You glanced back at the princess. "I had to do something."

"Sokka!" You exclaimed, pushing through the crowds.

"Y/n!"

You rushed towards him, embracing him in a hug.

He hugged you back with one arm.

You took a step back after pulling away. "How's your leg?" You questioned, glancing at his crutch.

"Better."

You smiled. "Good."

"Did you hear Ty Lee is joining the Kyoshi Warriors?" Sokka questioned.

Your eyebrows shot up in surprise. "No." You pursed your lips. "Come to think of it, I haven't heard much from anybody."

"Oh! Liam's here."

You grinned. "Really? Where is he?"

Sokka pointed.

You excused yourself, rushing towards your friend. "Liam!"

He turned around, wrapping you in a hug. "Hey." He greeted.

"I missed you, are you alright?"

He let out a small chuckle. "I'm fine. Are you okay?"

"A little roughed up, but I'll live."

A gong sounded and everyone turned, cheering as Zuko walked out of the palace in his Firelord garb.

He held up a hand. "Please!"

The cheering stopped.

"The real hero… is the Avatar."

Aang walked out, standing next to Zuko.

The audience burst into applause, shouting for joy.

"Today… this war is finally over!" Zuko announced.

The crowd cheered again.

"I promised my uncle that I would restore the honor of the Firenation. And I will. The road ahead of us is challenging. A hundred years of fighting has left the world scarred and divided." He glanced over at Aang. "But with the Avatar's help, we can get it back on the right path and begin a new era of love and peace."

A fire sage walked forward, holding something in his hands.

Zuko crouched down, the fire sage putting the crown on Zuko.

"All hail Firelord Zuko!" The fire sage called.

Everyone cheered.

"Y/n, can I talk to you?"

You walked over to the firebender. "Yes, Firelord Zuko?"

"You don't have to call me that." He insisted, walking into the palace.

You took the hint and followed him. "Alright. Can I help you with something?"

Zuko looked over at you. "I've been giving what you said a lot of thought."

You blinked at him.

"When we were collecting firewood."

You cringed. "Yeah?" You drug out.

"I realized something." He turned to you. "I realized that with everything, you were the only one who didn't give up on me. You always tried to get me to do what was right. To be the better me. I hurt you so badly, but you still tried to get me to pull through. You always wanted what was best for me."

You swallowed thickly. "Well, I…"

"Even before I turned good. Long before I saw my mistakes, you helped me. That's how I know you'll always support me; unless I'm doing something stupid." He added after a moment.

You stared up at him. His hair was pulled back out of his face and the Firelord crown sat on his head. It looked so strange. You felt that every time you were getting used to how Zuko looked, something happened.

"Aren't you going to say anything?" He prompted.

"I don't know what to say."

"Well, I was wondering if you'd be my girlfriend…" Zuko trailed off, getting quieter as he went. "At least to try." He practically mouthed.

You heard it, though. You nodded.

Zuko let out a breath that he had apparently been holding. "Really?" He asked, smiling.

A smile crept onto your own face. You nodded again.

Zuko grinned, stepping forward and embracing you in a hug.

You laughed, hugging him back, subtly reaching up and taking the crown off his head.

His hair fell into its natural place.

You grinned, looking up at him. "That's better."

Zuko placed a cup of tea next to Iroh, his uncle's horn playing halting briefly. Zuko smiled, walking around the room and offering tea to everyone.

"Zuko, stop moving!" Sokka demanded. "I'm trying to capture the moment!" He claimed, gesturing at the parchment on the desk in front of him. His voice and expression softened. "I wanted to do a painting, so we always remember the good times together."

"This ought to be good." You mumbled, remembering his drawings of Appa.

Katara walked over to her brother. "That's very thoughtful, Sokka. Wait. Why did you give me Momo's ears?" She asked, pointing.

"Those are your hair loopies."

"At least you don't look like a porcupine. My hair is not that spiky." Zuko complained, voice sharp, leaning on the desk as well.

"I look like a man." Mai observed.

"Why did you paint me firebending?" Suki questioned.

"I'd thought it look more exciting that way." Sokka defended.

Momo climbed on the desk, beginning to chatter.

"You think you can do a better job, Momo?" Sokka challenged.

"Hey, my belly's not that big anymore. I really trimmed down." Iroh noted.

Aang smiled to himself as he observed everyone before walking outside, petting Appa on the nose before vanishing from your sight.

You walked over to the others, looking down at the painting. It was truly horrendous, but it's the thought that counts.

"Well I think you all look perfect!" Toph exclaimed.

Everyone laughed.

Zuko wrapped an arm around you, smiling softly.

Everything was perfect.
