"Quinn?" Santana said nearly dropping her father to move towards her, frowning slightly. Charlie was the knight, and as far as she knew while Quinn could fight at Charlie's level she didn't like such thing. "I thought—"
"I wanted her head, and Quinn said that we needed to take her in alive."
The hoarse voice from behind her causes Santana to jump in the air, and she turns to look at Charlie who is watching her intently. Charlie moves and picks up her father, unceremoniously tossing him over her shoulder as she turns her attention to the manor. "I'm sorry."
"It's just a house Santana," Charlie says with a shrug of her shoulders. "No one that we cared about died."
"I mean she did us a bit of a favor picking off the Josh Coleman's and his ilk for us," Quinn said as more shadowy tendrils appeared, wrapping firmly around Emma's mouth. "So, I suppose we ought to thank you." You saved us from getting our hands dirty and getting in trouble with Sue again. And giving you to her, will put us in her good graces."
Santana watched as Charlie dumped her father unceremoniously on a car and immediately rushes to Charlie's side. "Gently. She broke his arm—" Santana stops when Charlie turns to look at her. It's an irritated look and she frowns. "Don't give me that look! He's my papi. And you two took to long!"
"You blew up our manor," Quinn reminds her.
"Charlie just said it was just a house."
"That you blew up, and people were killed, just no one that we personally cared about." Charlie adds absentmindedly. "He needs to be put into quarantine." With that Charlie's shadows wrapped around his arm creating a splint of sorts. "He also needs to go see a doctor."
"Quarantine?" Santana repeats. She turns to look at Emma her lips twisting into a scowl. "I understand," even though it pained her, she finally understood where the twins were coming from. Emma was a threat that they had never faced before, and her word was not to be trusted. Her father could be a member of the undead already.
Quinn turns to look at Santana for a moment, "Do you?"
Santana scowls but nods, "We can't trust her, and the reason Charlie's not handling this situation is because you have questions. But if you want my opinion, I would prefer if you handled her like you handled Hunter. Swiftly and without mercy."
Quinn kept her gaze on Santana for a moment longer before dragging her hand down, causing the tendrils to tighten and pull Emma down towards the ground. "I thought I would prefer you understanding, but I found your—is it optimism?"
"Hope," Charlie supplies.
"Yes, your hope that people could be better and they deserved second chances to be refreshing."
"She isn't a person. She's a monster, and a terrorist. The real mastermind behind everything that's happened to me. She made William unbalanced, she turned Artie into a Human's-first lunatic, and she's the one that's been on this suicide bombing campaign. Innocent people have been hurt, she's stoked the fears between the races, and she needs to be tried publicly and executed." Santana said inhaling deeply, and she feels Charlie gently wrap her arms around her holding her, before the familiar pat on the head.
Quinn frowned at this before looking at Emma for a moment, "All of this will be decided when Sue arrives. But I agree a public trial will do much to heal the rifts between the races and remind others of why we are needed." Quinn moves closer to take a look at Emma for a moment, "Charlie take Santana home, and find the rest of the vampires that are in hiding especially Blaine. This house isn't going to clean itself up."
Charlie flipped her twin off but nodded at Santana, "I'll take you home," She said motioning towards the car.
Santana hesitates she didn't quite want them to separate she felt safe right now, but she nods. She needed to have her father taken care of, and she needed to explain why her father needed to go into quarantine, plus there would definitely be questions from the other winners of the first human vote. "Right, we've got work to do."
~O~
"And they're taking him away? Mija, you have to do something—"
"It's not what you think mami, the twins aren't going to keep him or throw him in prison, but he was subjected to Emma's mind controlling abilities, and they're uncertain if he was inadvertently turned, or if he's still under her control."
"For how long?" Maribel demanded, her daughter seemed completely apathetic to this.
"Two weeks, we're hoping that nothing changes, and since he'll be discussing things with the Reagents, they promise to keep a close eye on him. I saw Artie change, I saw what happened to William, I don't want that to happen to papi."
"This is exactly the problem."
Santana turned to look at Dustin Goolsby who stands up in her living room, "What's the problem? They stopped a maniac from killing us? From taking control of our minds?"
"This is what people were afraid of Santana, the unlawful detainment of anyone who ran. How does this look?"
Santana frowned she hadn't thought of the optics, she had just gone along with the twins because she knew they were right. They were on the right side of these things. "It looks bad. I know how it looks but he's not going to be in jail, he's not going to prison, he's at the hospital. Where he's going to stay, which means we can all visit him and the Reagents are far more interested in rebuilding the manor and getting back to normal. Though there will be an uptick of vampires in the region." Santana paused, the twins were innocent relatively speaking and they were still being accused of doing terrible things.
"Mija—"
Santana shook her head, "You want to know the truth, they're grumpy, they dislike dealing with the minutia of running a government, but so long as you show them respect, they'll give it in return, plus they're in the mood to favor humanity right now and make sure there is balance. If you come at them with unfounded accusations or claim that this is some attempt to silence you then that's bad for all of humans. All I can do is ask that you watch and you make sure that people are doing the right thing." Santana looks at all the politicians and her mother, she needed to make them understand. "I watched one of the Reagents save a human child and then no one said thank you. I've spent weeks and months practically harassing them daily, about making humanity better, and putting us on equal playing field with the shifters. The vampires are here to protect us, how they view us matters. And right now, those two reagents see us as more than cattle. Do you really wish to upset that balance?"
There was an awkward pause and she could see people rapidly discussing it amongst themselves, this was not how she had hoped to welcome in these new politicians, but the reality of the situation made it impossible to simply play along.
"Very well," one of the other politicians said after a moment. "But we'll be watching the incident with your father closely."
"That's all I ask," Santana says taking a deep breath. That was another problem down, now she needed to deal with the current disaster that was dealing with her feelings about the twins.
