Chapter 124: Loved Ones
"You should still be in bed." Diana commented as Bruce winced slightly.
"Not happening." Bruce replied. He'd taken an absolute beating when they'd gone up against Faust and the other members of the Society. Yet Selina was gone and he couldn't rest until she was back.
"Well at least sit down." Diana said. It sounded more like an order than a request, which was the only reason Bruce sat.
"What did you find?" He asked.
This was normally where Victor would speak, but given that he was dead, it fell to Dick to answer. "Selina's tracker was live until about three days' ago. In that time, she was moved from where we fought Ivy and the others to Coast City, then to Star City, then to Bludhaven, Bludhaven is her last known location."
"And then the tracker goes dead?" Bruce asked. He'd hated having to put a tracker in her suit, but it was the only way he could think to make her safe.
"Yes." Dick answered.
Bruce got up, winced and walked to the computer, he hit a few buttons and then cursed. "They found a way to block the signal."
"So, you're saying the thing isn't actually dead?" Dick asked, he sounded annoyed, Bruce could understand that but this was something he'd designed especially for Selina, only he knew how to find the signal.
"Yes." Bruce answered.
"Is there a way to find her?" Dick asked.
"We will need to go to Bludhaven and trace their movements." Bruce said.
Dick nodded and said. "I can phone Kori, let her know."
"No." Bruce said. "I appreciate the gesture, but I am going to have to go myself."
"Don't you think that might be what they want?" Steve Trevor asked.
Bruce turned around, Trevor was sat with his hands around his head, and his eyes closed. He'd fought well, kept his own against Captain Cold, but still, his presence was annoying, Bruce tolerated it for Diana. "What do you mean?" He asked.
Trevor opened his eyes. "Well, their objective is obvious. They want to lure you to them, so that they can capture you and remove one of the key figures of the regime."
Bruce knew that Trevor was right, but still, this was Selina, he couldn't just abandon her. He was about to reply when the doors opened and Arthur walked in. "Arthur?" Bruce asked looking at the man. "Is everything alright?"
Arthur looked haggard, clearly the journey had eaten away at him. "No." He said simply.
"What is it?" Diana asked.
"Hal." Arthur said.
"What about Hal?" Bruce asked, a suspicion creeping into him.
"He's dead." Arthur answered simply. "Killed by J'onn."
"What?!" Dick exclaimed. "You're sure?"
Arthur nodded. "Yes, the tests were conclusive."
Bruce took a breath and then asked. "Where is Hal's body now?"
"I took it back to his wife." Arthur said, Bruce nodded.
Forgive me Selina. He thought to himself before he then said. "Change of plan, we're going to focus on finding the Resistance and destroying them once and for all." He looked at Dick. "Get in touch with Clark, this ends now."
