Tree Hill Hospital

Lucas's Hospital Room

"I can't laugh. But honestly Brooke when you imagined our wedding day it wasn't like this. Under these circumstances. You deserve you're dream wedding." Lucas said.

Brooke locked her gaze on him. Moved over to where he was.

Cupping his face with her hands. "When i got the phone call that were shot. I was at my store. Getting from there to the hospital was a blur. Having to wait in the waiting room while you were in surgery. Was unbearable. I couldn't stop thinking. About just days before this one. And the morning before we left the house."

"My heart was breaking in a way i never experienced."

"I almost lost you. I don't want to get married out of fear or uncertainty. I want to get married. Because spending another night or morning without being you're wife is more then i can bare."

"Marrying you. Makes it the only wedding i need." Brooke explained.

Lucas thought over how he would need to care for himself after what he had endured. Checking it off in his head.

Lucas was un prepared for the rush of emotion that flooded him.

"I don't want to become a burden or a responsibility. This happened to me. You shouldn't be forced to deal with aftermath." He admitted. The emotion in his voice thick.

"I have been in love with you since we were 17. You're hurt, fear, and uncertainty is mine too. We will get through this. One day at a time. Let me be there for you this time." Brooke stated.

The doctor's words replaying in her memory.

"Lucas suffered a near fatal traumatic experience. Even with the support of friends/Loved ones. And a therapist. He may never be the same. I need you to be prepared for that." The man said.

As Brooke eventually parked her car in the hospital parking lot.

Allowing his words to process and stick.

"I understand. But see Lucas and I have endured so much to reach this point. Him going through this now. Isn't going to send me running anywhere except straight into his arms." Brooke replied.

"So let me ask you again. Will you marry me.? Here in the hospital. In this room. It'll be just us. The kids. And anyone else you want to invite." Brooke asked.

"Of course. There is nothing i want more with this new chance at life then to start it as you're husband." Lucas replied.

Brooke leaned over kissing him gently.

Lucas kissed her back.

When the two pulled apart their gazes were locked on each other.

"How exactly is this going to work.?" Lucas questioned. Generally curious.

"You leave all that to me. Time for the boys to visit with you. Do you have enough energy for more visitors.?" Brooke asked.

"Yeah i'll make sure of it. Send them in." Lucas replied.

Brooke nodded her head in agreement and exited the hospital room.

Ryan. Kennedy. And Rosemary rushed to her side.

"Hows dad.?" Kennedy asked.

"He's awake. excited and looking forward to visting with all of you. But he's recovering. He's going to need us all to help him get to the other side of this. I have big news."

"We're getting married! Here in the hospital. On that note i have to leave. Go in together or one at a time. I love you." Brooke said. As she rushed out the entrance doors of the hospital.

The siblings looked to each other.

"This out of nowhere wedding. Is so like mom." Ryan said with a smile.

"I know we should of expected something like this." Kennedy replied.

"Since we know now. Let's do the next best thing. And throw them a wedding reception. The hospital court yard is empty. It's going to be a small cermony. I think it would be a nice surprise for them both. What do you think.?" Rosemary asked.

"It's perfect. Are you coming in with us.?" Kennedy asked.

"No the two of you go on ahead." Rosemary replied.

The boys looked to each other then turned towards the hallway.

She watched as they entered the hospital room the door shutting behind them.

There was this part of her that wanted to join them. Then there was this other part of her that was nagging and pulling her apart. Replaying in her mind that she didn't deserve to see him. That she didn't deserve his forgiveness. She had pushed him away time and time again. All of a sudden she realized what he meant to her. It was too late for that now. Rosemary thought to herself.

...

"My boys. Tell me everything i missed while i was in surgery. I love you both so much. After all this is over no more hospitals for anyone." Lucas stated. Hugging them tightly.

The brothers hugged their father gently. Before sharing an agreed upon look.

"We've just been waiting around the hospital." Ryan said.

"Raiding vending machines. Checking out the hospital nursery with the babies. Keeping ourselves busy." Kennedy said.

"What we are concerned about is you. You seem okay. But how are you really doing.?" Ryan asked.

"I'm grateful to be alive and know in time this will become a distant memory."

"So is Rosey not with you.? Lucas asked.

"She's in the waiting room. She wanted us to go in first." Ryan said.

"Send her in here. I need to talk to her." Lucas said.

"We'll go down the cafeteria and get you something to eat." Kennedy said.

"And a milkshake. And gifts from the gift shop." Ryan said.

"I'll be here awaiting all of that." Lucas replied.

Ryan and Kennedy soon left the room. Once they were in the hallway. They turned to eah other.

"Dad doesn't need to know about us getting arrested and being kept in custody." Kennedy said.

"We're in agreement. That never happened." Ryan said.

...

Rosey paced outside the hospital room door. Debated with herself about going in. Lucas had asked to see her. He almost died. She wasn't going to make him chase her.

When she entered the room. And saw his face. With the same warm expression she had always known.

It made her feel worse.

"You should hate me. After how i treated you. I hate me enough for the both of us." Rosemary stated.

"Come here and sit with me. But before you do that. Go into this drawer and pull out the envelope it's blank on the front." Lucas instructed.

She follow his instruction and brought the envelope with her as she sat down at the end of the bed.

"Open it and read." Lucas said.

Rosemary did that and unfolded the paper inside it.

She read it slowly to herself.

She looked up at him. Tears welling up in her eyes.

"Is this real.?" Rosemary asked.

"Yes. Filed and sealed. I was going to surprise you with it. But life had other plans. You are the first person to know. It's official You're a Scott. My daughter." Lucas stated.

...
