Chapter 127: Lashing Out

The door opened and Damian walked in. He looked at the two people sat before him and sighed. It shouldn't have been like this, if they'd just accepted his offer when he'd made it, none of this would be happening. And yet they'd refused and so here they were.

"How are you feeling?" He asked.

"Go fuck yourself." The person on the left snarled.

Damian snorted. "Now you're displaying bravery?"

"Fuck you." The figure said.

"No, fuck you Danny." Damian replied. "Fuck you for joining a bunch of terrorists."

"Terrorists?" Danny the Boy replied sounding incredulous. "They're not terrorists. They're heroes."

"Heroes?" Damian asked. "They're trying to stop everything Superman's done from continuing. You really want there to be wars again?"

"I'd rather people had the right to choose." Danny said.

Damian snorted. "The right to choose? To choose to be evil? To choose to be bad? Why?"

"Because without choice we are nothing." Danny snapped. "You used to know that."

Damian sighed. "People don't go to bed hungry, people don't have to live in fear of being robbed, people don't need to worry about war. And you're saying you'd rather they had the choice? What the fuck is wrong with you?"

Danny said nothing, but his partner Tanya spoke. "So, what are you going to do with us? You killed Atom and Martian Manhunter. What are you going to do with us?"

Damian fiddled with the handle of his sword, and then said. "You have a choice. Surrender and swear fealty, or die."

"Swear fealty? To who?" Tanya asked.

"Superman." Damian said.

"What is he a King now?" Danny asked.

"Emperor." Damian said, he didn't know when Clark was having his coronation but this was a fact.

Danny snorted. "You want us to swear fealty to him?"

"Yes." Damian said, though he got the impression the two people weren't going to do that.

"Not a chance." Danny said.

"Yeah, we're not doing that." Tanya replied.

Damian fiddled with his sword handle and then sighed. "Fine." He turned and walked out of the room, but before he did, he flicked a switch. As the door shut, he looked back through the glass and saw Danny and Tanya coughing. He sighed and walked away.
