Chapter 128: News

Iris stared at the computer screen and frowned. She had no idea what to write. Her editor wanted her to write about the end of the Insurgency and what it meant for the One Earth government, but she found she couldn't think of what to say. Something was blocking her ability to. Was it what Barry had said? Or something else?

"Are you okay?" Someone asked. She looked up and found Mia Smoak looking at her.

"I…" Iris said.

"Want to talk about it?" Mia asked.

"I just…I don't know how to put a positive spin on the deaths of so many people. Yes, they were threats to peace, but they were still people." Iris said.

Mia nodded. "I get that. It can be hard to write about people dying, especially when they're or they were heroes. But, I guess, you need to ask yourself something."

"And what's that?" Iris asked.

"Do you think the world would have been better had they succeeded? If Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and The Flash had all died?" Mia replied.

Iris felt her heart freeze at the thought of Barry dying. She couldn't go through that, she wouldn't survive. "No." She said. "The world would be horrible."

"Then you have your story." Mia said.

"I do?" Iris asked, still not sure she did, and wondering whether or not she could ask the editor to give it to someone else.

Mia dropped her voice down to a whisper and said. "You do, it's not cut and dry, but it is clear. You're a good reporter Iris and I know Superman will appreciate it, as will your husband."

Iris raised an eyebrow and asked. "How did you…."

Mia merely laughed and walked away. Iris looked at her retreating form and frowned. Perhaps she did have a story, perhaps not.
