Chapter 129: Gods
The wind whipped at his sides, Ares was thankful he was an Olympian. Otherwise he'd be freezing right now. He continued walking, spotting the old man sat on the bench he picked up the pace and eventually stopped, sitting next to the man.
"What took you so long?" The man demanded.
"I had to ensure my weapon was honed." Ares answered.
"And?" The man asked.
"He is, father." Ares said, getting a chill when he said that word. He'd not spoken to his father in millennia, to see him now was something else.
"Good." Zeus replied.
"So, why did you decide to come? Why not send Iris as you have before?" Ares asked.
Zeus snorted. "Because the time for messengers is at an end. The time for us to meet and talk is now."
"So, you are prepared to fight?" Ares asked. "I know what happened the last time. Why didn't you fight Superman then?" Ares had hoped the two would fight and kill one another, leaving him free to stage a coup and take Olympus as was his right.
"Because the timing was not right. Superman needed to be tested and he has succeeded, now the time has come for him to be removed." Zeus said.
"What do you need from me?" Ares asked.
"A landing spot. Since the incident at their tower, Superman and Diana have ensured that we cannot just appear like that anymore. So, we will require a landing spot." Zeus said.
"That can be arranged." Ares said.
"And bring your old friends to bear as well. Ensure that they know what is required." Zeus said.
Ares nodded. "I will do so."
His father stood up then and looked at him. "Then I shall see you when the time comes." Ares stood up and bowed his head.
"Your Holiness."
Zeus nodded. Ares looked up and his father was gone.
