Time for the girls to shine! Hope you enjoy!
Episode 38: The Girls Stand Out
Once the Mickey short was done, Goofy and the waiter penguins brought out the appetizers and started taking the main course orders. Goofy was taking an order but was having a hard time understanding the patron.
"I'm sorry Mr. Chewbacca, could you repeat that?" Goofy asked.
The Wookie growled and threw his hands up in frustration.
"Oh my, do calm yourself Chewbacca," C-3PO chided. R2-D2 gave some beeps. "Don't encourage him, R2. Not everyone is able to understand Wookie."
Backstage, Gabriel went to check on the girls, ready to see what they were up to. When he opened the door, he quickly ducked as a trombone came flying at him, nearly missing his head but smacking Donald in the face. The duck shouted in protest, but the instrument made his voice come out funny.
"Sorry about that, Donald!" Ana called.
"What's with the projectile instruments?" Gabriel asked. He then blinked and looked around to see multiple destroyed instruments on the floor. "Scratch that, what happened to all of our instruments!?"
"Well, you see, we were planning on doing a musical act," Berry explained. "But when we picked up our instruments, they came to life and started attacking us!"
"You did make sure that they weren't cursed people, right?" Gabriel said nervously. "I don't want Belle or Beast getting mad at you guys."
"Nope, these were just hexed to attack us," Rachel assured.
"Looks like Pete got to you guys as well," Gabriel said. "Though I have to wonder how he did it."
"We'll have to figure out something quick," Mia stated.
"We could always improvise instruments," Ali said. "After all, Yen Sid always says that when things go wrong, you've got to use what you have to fix it."
"I don't remember him saying that," Rachel raised an eyebrow.
"Either way, let's do this thing!" Ana and Berry said together.
Soren laughed a bit. "I like the energy of those two!"

Getting back out onto the stage, Gabriel gave Pete a glare, though the villain only sent a cheeky grin back. "Alright Pete, how did you do it this time?" he said.
Pete held up his hands. "I didn't do anything. If I were you, I'd be looking over in her direction instead."
Gabriel looked over to see Mirage, the chaos sorceress, slyly waving at him. "What can I say, Pete offered me any magical items of my choosing that are in the basement of this place if he wins the bet," Mirage said.
Sighing, the raven took up his microphone. "Due to some technical difficulties, the next act will be a bit more improvised. Introducing the musical talents of Soren and the Magical Girls performing a jungle medley!"
"We never actually agreed on that name!" Mia commented, but joined the others on stage.
The girls dragged with them a bunch of props, from pots and pans to a typewriter to various pieces of string. It looked like a hodgepodge of just about everything, including a kitchen sink! Ana and Berry quickly set everything up around the stage, before Rachel started playing with the typewriter. The other girls started using objects as instruments as well, and soon their song started.
Ana:
Sho-ba-do, da-ba-do, da-ba-do
Da-bada do-da
Berry:
Sho-ba-do, da-ba-do, da-ba-do
Da-bada de-de-ah
Ana and Berry:
Sho-ba-do, da-ba-do, da-ba-do
Da-be-dada de-da
Do-whap, she-do
Woo!
Soren flapped onto the front of the stage, his head held high as he sang.
Soren:
I'm gonna be a mighty king
So enemies beware
Rachel sat down next to the jaquin, ruffling his head fur.
Rachel:
Well I've never seen a king of beasts
With quite so little hair
Soren jumped on top of Rachel, doing the same to her.
Soren:
I'm gonna be the main event
Like no king was before
I'm brushing up, I'm looking down
I'm working on my ROAR!
Rachel rolled her eyes and put Soren down. "Thus far a rather uninspiring thing."
Oh I just can't wait to be king!
As the jaquin proudly strutted around the stage, the girls continued to play their improvised instruments. The sink's water became one, as did some jars turn into a drumset.
Mia:
Sho-ba-do, da-ba-do, da-ba-do
Da-bada do-da
Sho-ba-do, da-ba-do, da-ba-do
Da-bada de-de-ah
Sho-ba-do, da-ba-do, da-ba-do
Da-be-dada de-da
Girls:
Do-whap, she-do
Woo!
Ali stepped forward next, using her flame magic to create duplicates of herself as he danced.
Ali:
Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
Soren came to dance by her, the jaquin trotting around the pyromancer as she sang.
I mean the bare necessities
Old Mother Nature's recipes
That brings the bare necessities of life
Ali grabbed Rachel, the two of them doing a tap-dancing routine as Mia sang.
Mia:
Wherever I wander, wherever I roam
I couldn't be fonder of my big home
The bees are buzzin' in the tree
To make some honey just for me
The two crouched down next to Soren.
When you look under the rocks and plants
And take a glance at the fancy ants
Then maybe try a few
"Yeah, I'd don't think so," the jaquin shook his head.
The bare necessities of life will come to you
They'll come to you!
As the twins played their part, they started multitasking, playing multiple instruments at once. It was quite impressive, actually.
Ana and Berry:
Sho-ba-do, da-ba-do, da-ba-do
Da-bada do-da
Sho-ba-do, da-ba-do, da-ba-do
Da-bada de-de-ah
Sho-ba-do, da-ba-do, da-ba-do
Da-be-dada de-da
Girls:
Do-whap, she-do
Woo!
Soren took center stage once more as they all got ready for the finale.
Soren:
Everybody look left, Everybody look right
Everywhere you look I'm,
Standing in the spotlight!
"All together now!" Rachel called.
All:
Let every creature go for broke and sing
(Ana and Berry: Sho-ba-do, da-daba do-wah!)
Let's hear it in the herd and on the wing
(Ali and Mia: The Bare Necessities!)
It's gonna be King Soren's finest fling!
The girls formed a pyramid, with the twins on the bottom, Mia and Ali in the middle, with Rachel and Soren on top.
Soren:
Oh I just can't wait to be king!
Rachel:
Oh he just can't wait to be king!
All
Oh I just can't wait… (just can't wait!)
To be king!
At the end, Soren flew up into the air, Rachel drew her sword and held it high, while Mia lifted her up with the Force, Ali sending out fireworks while Ana and Berry did jazz hands. The crowd gave an ovation for the unique performance, with Pete once again being shocked that they had managed to please the crowd once more.
"Great job, ladies, and you too as well, Soren," Gabriel complimented as he came back to the stage. "I hope you all are enjoying your night as we start to bring out the main course meals. While you put our service to the test, enjoy this Pixar short, Day & Night!"
"Hey, that's my line!" Lumiere called from the audience.
Gabriel stepped back into the backstage area, sitting down in a chair as Jasiri came over to check on him. The others were there as well, all of them excited that they got to perform at the House of Mouse.
"Well, all that's left is my own performance," Gabriel said. "Any luckily, I made sure not to tell anyone else about it except for Jasiri, so there's no way Pete can mess it up."
"So you think it will work?" Jasiri asked.
"You got the other two informed about the plan, right?" Gabriel responded. When the hyena nodded, he smiled. "Then we shouldn't have a problem. We just have to hope that Pete doesn't back out on his deal with us."
Author's Note
Another fun performance. The "song" this time isn't a real medley, but it is a mashup of "Trashin' the Camp" from Tarzan, "I Just Can't Wait to be King" from Lion King, and "The Bare Necessities" from Jungle Book.
Mirage is a character from the Aladdin TV series, which is strangely one of the few cartoons not on Disney+ at the moment. I wanted to use a more obscure magic user to mess with the heroes, and she fit the bill well.
Next Time: Gabriel puts it all on the line for a big showstopping number.
