Chapter 39: The Second Horseman

A Pyrrhic Victory, a fruitless endeavor,

The Hound's teeth show no mercy.

Crusade, Conquest, Capitulation.

Artemis flashed onto a windy cliffside, having to crouch down to make sure she didn't accidentally fall forward and potentially roll down a mountain. She cursed as she stood up, making sure he had good footing. The last thing she needed was to fall. There weren't any drops per say but it was a slope. You could easily walk up it but if you rolled down then the speed you'd gain mixed with the impact of hitting rock every few seconds would likely kill you. Mount Diablo was like that.

She looked at the wall next to her, where the path was carved out as if it was meant to be there, which it was. There was nothing special about the wall at first glance, but Artemis knew better. She knew the drill. They had discussed it when they first came to America almost over eighty years ago. If Olympus were ever to fall, this is where the gods were to retreat, impenetrable save for the gods. Their own fallout shelter.

"Lady Artemis?" She heard a voice and turned, to be met surprisingly by a familiar black haired man. Her breath hitched as she thought it was Percy for a second, but quickly noted he looked more like his mother than Poseidon. "Triton?" She asked in confusion with her eyes slightly narrowed.

The merman stepped forward hesitant, unsure whether a male like him would be allowed any closer, although he currently had no fish tail. "You're here? I thought you would have been in there with the council?" He asked.

Artemis frowned and looked down, shaking her head. "No, in fact I haven't been in contact with any for a while. Some things came up. What are you doing here?" She asked.

He swallowed. "We just arrived, and I've been trying to contact the gods. Iris messages no longer work, she has gone into hiding as well. I'm afraid I can't get in, milady. Only one of the council knows how to open the door, and I don't think there's a doorbell." He tried a weak attempt at a joke.

Artemis raised an eyebrow. "We?" She asked, and Triton nodded. "I brought reinforcements." He said, and Artemis nodded. "Fine, step back." She said, turning to the wall. Triton did just that as she prepared to unlock the Tomb of the Gods.

She held out her hands, and speaking in the tongue of the Romans, spoke the password. "Aperi monte salvum ut providere tectum ad me ab hoc malo, mundo!" The password wouldn't have worked for anyone else, it was just since she was an Olympian that it heard her voice and opened.

Symbols along the wall glowed bright gold and the stone parted, almost like it was on hinges. Triton's eyes were wide at the magic while Artemis turned around. "Stay close, but not too close. I don't want you to fall to your death since Uncle would kill me. It doesn't mean I like you." She said with a threatening glare. Triton nodded quickly, afraid as most men were to anger the short tempered goddess. The Olympian goddess of the forest led the crown prince of Atlantis into the dark mountain and through it's passages.

Upon coming to the main cavern she could hear faint voices.

"Dad, they're dying out there, they need our help!" She heard none other than her brother whining to their father, Zeus. The god in question was having none of it, however. "No! You will do as you're told and stay here." He ordered his son.

The music god was dumbfounded. "So what? You're just gonna let them all die? Let… Percy just kill them all like he did with the Greeks?" He asked in astonishment. The sky god neither confirmed nor denied it, instead answering simply. "I won't have you all run out and get yourselves killed too. His numbers are too great. Not even we could take on a hundred thousand monsters at once, they'd have tricks up their sleeves."

Athena scoffed, rolling her eyes. "Father, you really think Perseus would be smart enough to think of something like Celestial Bronze nets?" She raised an eyebrow, and Artemis saw Poseidon frown and look away as he was reminded once again that his son was behind all this bloodshed.

Hades laughed coldly. "He got past you, didn't he? He took Olympus. How many monsters, giants and titans have tried and failed to achieve such a feat, and Perseus walked right in and took it like it was nothing. I wouldn't underestimate him, wisdom goddess. It seems he has changed since we last knew him." He noted, and Hermes scoffed. "You don't say."

Apollo still glared at Zeus. "So that's it then. All our children, our loyal followers, you're just going to let them get massacred, and you're not gonna do anything it! How long can we hide here, dad? Percy was an Olympian too, he might even be able to open this mountain! Did you even think of that?!" He began yelling.

Zeus' eyes narrowed. "Do not raise your voice at me, boy. Our thrones may be gone but I am still your father, and your king!" He scolded, but Apollo shook his head.

"You're a terrible father! And a terrible king! Fathers are supposed to love their kids, but you're letting all your grandchildren die out there! What about Thalia and Jason?! They are your kids, and they're gonna die if you don't help them! What kind of king are you? Kings are supposed to be leaders, and all I see is a coward!" He spat.

Surprisingly Hephaestus walked up. "Aye. I always thought you a terrible father, Zeus, and you a terrible mother Hera. But at least I had little quarrels with you as a king. Obviously, that has changed." He backed up his half-brother.

Ares sneered as he stood, sword raised and pointed towards the two of them. "Know your place, rats! We should kill you both for treason, speaking against the king like that!" He threatened, much to Zeus' approval, but the two were dismayed.

"Shut the fuck up, Ares. You of all people should be siding with us. Why on Earth is the god of war siding with a coward who wants to hide in a cave instead of going out and fighting?" Apollo asked confusedly. Ares shook his head. "I'm no traitor. Battle or not, my loyalty is with our king." He spat.

Dionysus raised his hand. "I for one am not too keen on the idea of a suicide mission, so I'm perfectly comfortable here." He said, and Hermes blew a raspberry as he threw a rock at the lounging god. "Pussy!" He mocked.

More and more arguments began to break out as the council became divided. The more composed and peaceful gods tended to favor hiding while the younger and more energetic gods were keen to die for their kin. The only ones not participating in the infighting were Poseidon, Demeter, Aphrodite and Hestia. The latter decided that was the last straw.

"Stop! Everyone stop and be quiet!" She yelled, making everyone freeze as the goddess of the hearth actually yelled. She took a deep breath and put both hands around her mouth, shutting her eyes and breathing in and out.

"Okay, let's all just take a second to breathe. Breeeeeathe." She said calmly, naturally making everyone more calm as some of them did what she said and breathed. Others stubbornly suffocated.

Artemis chose that moment to reveal herself. "If I have to be perfectly honest, I'm afraid I'll have to side with my brother over you, father." She said as she stood around the corner, instantly gaining all the Olympians' attention. "Sis!" Apollo cried, running forward and tackling his younger sister in a hug.

Once again many were surprised as she hugged back, burying her head in her twin brother's shoulder as they reunited for the first time in weeks. He pulled away, checking her over for damage. "Where have you been, sis? Did- did that bastard…" He trailed off, his fists clenched as he thought of his brother-in-law and what he may have done to his baby sis.

Artemis shook her head, placing a reassuring hand on her brother's shoulder. "No, and now isn't the time to talk things over and catch up, Apollo." She told him bluntly, walking up next to him to look at her father. "He's right, father. My, uh, husband has the biggest army of monsters we've every seen and they are attacking New Rome. I haven't seen the destruction but I can only imagine what's happened. There's only 200 or so demigods, I doubt they will be able to keep the monsters out for long." She told him.

The goddess then bit her lip and looked away. She thought of her son, Urion, and how he had died at the hands of some demigods. She only wondered what the Olympian army would do to the rest of them. She hoped Percy had the brain to get them all out of there at the first sign that they weren't going to win the fight.

She looked back at them, a steely look on her face. "Besides, like Apollo said, Percy was an Olympian too, he knows of the mountain. It won't be long before he thinks to look here." She told him, but Zeus shook his head. "Then we will fight them off to the last spartoi from this fortress. We have near unlimited firepower to take them on as they pour through the caverns. We will be fine here!" He said determinedly.

Artemis glared. "So that's your decision, huh? You're going to sit here as every one of your children and descendents die just outside these walls? What the Hades is wrong with you, old man?!" She yelled as he hair seemingly began to change color. Zeus' eyes narrowed at his daughter. "Watch yourself, girl. Last I remember, I wasn't the one who ran off sleeping with the enemy while they tried to destroy everything we've created." He spat.

Artemis was dumbfounded. "Last I remember, Olympus had a king who was brave enough to defend it! What happened to great Zeus, master of the skies and king of the gods, who none dared to challenge! What happened to he who bore legendary heroes and fought any who threatened Olympus. When Typhon nearly destroyed Hellas and the gods fled to Egypt, who stayed behind and defeated him? Not you, Zeus!" She ranted, her body beginning to change. Her skin became more pale as her eyes gained a bit more yellow to their silver hue. Her hair was no longer auburn, now it was fully red.

Diana's infamous rage was in full force as she walked up and prodded his chest angrily. "Rome is ashamed of you, Jove. You have abandoned us in our time of need, when it is your duty as it's creator to protect it from evil!" She accused, turning to her siblings who had sided with Zeus.

"And you, Mars. When Rome battled the Carthaginians and was on the verge of being invaded, who lent all his spirit and strength to the fatigued and disheartened legions, sending himself to Tartarus for ten years but allowing Scipio and the army to defeat Hannibal and avenge Cannae? It was not you, it seems the Mars who would sacrifice himself to save Rome from foreign invaders stayed in Tartarus, and he was replaced by a cowardly daemon who has no shred of integrity left in him!" She spat, and for once the god of war had no retort, Ares merely looked down in slight shame.

The Roman goddess breathed heavily after her rant, ashamed of her family. Her hunters were out there fighting to the last man while their gods thought of considering joining the fight to protect them. She walked up to Zeus and pointed a finger. "You, and all you who side with him, are the reason Rome fell. They forgot about us, began to worship one god, because they had no faith left in you all, and you still wonder why?! Our own people were murdered by wars and invaders and even their own rulers and you sat and did nothing just as you do now! Rome fell because their gods had abandoned them, and if you abandon Rome now then you're dooming history to repeat itself, you shameful excuses for gods!" She hissed.

All of the gods bar the ones who sided with Apollo looked down in shame, and even the ones who did side with him felt ashamed on their behalf. They sat in a mountain and hid while their children fought and died for them. Diana was right. History was repeating itself.

Poseidon, who had been quiet this entire time, stepped forward and transformed into Neptune spontaneously. His eyes were narrowed in confusion as he finally noticed his son standing behind Diana. "Triton? What are you doing here, my boy?" Neptune asked.

Triton smiled at his father and hugged him, glad to see the sea god and know he was okay. "Lady Diana forgot to mention my presence and why I am here it seems. We came to find you, our forces are waiting outside down the slopes of the mountain for their gods to return." He said, still smiling.

Hera's eyes were narrowed. "What forces?" She asked, and Triton looked past his father to the gods. "The Olympian army, milady. I was left in charge of Atlantis in my father's absence after a nymph told us what happened on Olympus. After weeks of no word from Perseus' army or the gods or even the Romans, we decided that Perseus likely headed west instead of preparing to fight us. So, I called upon all allies of Olympus to come and fight." He explained simply.

Apollo uncrossed his arms. "Who?" He asked. He thought that most of them were killed already, or were bunkered up with the Romans. Triton laughed. "My lord, I think you underestimate how many banners Olympus has under them. My mother contacted Persephone, and she sent the army of the undead to fight alongside us. There was, of course, Atlantis and all it's soldiers, plus the cyclopes."

"Many minor gods heard through word of mouth and have joined us over the past few days, as well as all their minions. Hecate herself supplied nearly a thousand beings made of pure magic and wielding weapons willing to fight for the gods. Surprisingly, many nature spirits were wielding to pick up a sword and ride with us. Even the centaurs, usually an isolated bunch, met with us two days ago ready to fight, over two hundred of them. The cyclopes mass produced our weapons and armor, and thankfully the ocean is home to more than fifty thousand mounts, who came at the call of their lord." He said proudly.

Diana looked smugly at the gods as she crossed her arms. "Twenty thousand riders are waiting for their gods to lead them into battle, and two hundred demigods and hundreds more legacies are waiting for their gods to come to their rescue. Now, who's ready to do just that?" She asked.

Apollo suddenly flared golden, and when the light died down he was replaced by his Roman counterpart… Apollo. "Count me in, sis." He grinned, readying his bow. Hermes shrugged and stood, transforming into Mercury. Even Dionysus, who was just lounging without a care in the world, stood and became the strong Bacchus. "For the glory of Rome, or whatever." He sighed.

One by one all the gods turned Roman, summoning their weapons and wielding them readily. Even Hestia, the pacifist goddess, was replaced by Vesta. Hera and Aphrodite, who were well known for their love of not partaking in battles, held staffs as Juno and Venus.

Last of all was Zeus, who stood staring at a wall as he rethinked his choices. "Maybe you're right. Rome only fell because they abandoned their gods. Rome was only united under Olympus, and it only fell because Olympus was not watching." He suddenly began to transform into Jupiter.

"It is my duty as king to fight to protect my subjects, and it is my duty to die trying. I'll be damned if I don't live up to that duty." He said determinedly, turning to the council, who all stood with their weapons ready to go out and fight. "Rome… will live on." He decreed, making the twins grin at each other.

On top of the mountain Jove rode, reaching the peak and looking over the fields of mars. The entire valley was black with monster hordes, and down in the middle of them Percy turned and noticed the figure appear on top of Mount Diablo.

Jupiter was in shock at the destruction that lay in front of him. Catapults fired flaming rocks in the city, monsters had pooled into Camp Jupiter's walls, all the while demigods and legacies fought the hordes off protecting their people. "So this is who the Savior of Olympus has become, it's destruction." He muttered to himself.

Pluto and Neptune rode up beside him, on their mounts Abraxas and Pegasus respectively. The big three wielded their famed weapons, Jupiter's bolt, Neptune's trident and Pluto's bident. "Forget who he was, brothers, focus instead on who he is." Pluto advised, which was hard for Neptune to abide by but he kept his mouth shut.

The rest of the gods rode up beside them, riding their unique mounts. Some were not even horses such as Diana's beautiful stag, Mars' giant boar and Bacchus' strong bull. All were armored and had their weapons ready.

Behind them stood an army of twenty thousand, all mountain and waiting for the order. Down in the camp a guard noticed the thirteen sat on top of Mount Diablo. "They're here! The gods have returned!" He yelled to his comrades, catching the attention of all the demigods. Most clambered up the walls to get a better look while cheering for their gods.

Jupiter had no mighty speech for the ages, no last words to his fellow Olympians. He merely raised his bolt, let it crack in the sky, and yelled. "For Rome!" Before starting at a canter down the hill. The Olympians too raised their weapons and cheered, following him down. The sight of thirteen riders wasn't too bad to the monsters, Olympians or not. It was when the earth began to shake and their eardrums were nearly ruptured by an army of twenty thousand cheering that they began to worry.

On the hill came rows and rows of riders, everything from nymphs to cyclopes, from skeletons to centaurs, all cheering and holding their weapons in the air as they began the slow charge. As they began to go down the steep slope the Olympians picked up speed, changing from a slow run to a sprint as their armies followed close behind. The mountain looked like it had been flooded with melted gold, silver and bronze as the armies charged down, roaring and holding their spears and swords to the sky.

Diana and Apollo raised them bows and arrows, having all those riders with weapons of archery do the same. The silver and golden arrows were the first to fly as the gods let them go, headed for the horde with no particular targets, and immediately after nearly 3000 arrows were fired behind theirs.

Perseus saw the volley and yelled for his army to take cover, running over his crippled daughter with a shield and covering them both. Most of the army ducked, but a few such as the second daughter of Perseus and Artemis stood there in shock as she stared at one arrow in particular. "Mom?" She wondered aloud in shock before said silver arrow struck her through the eye and sent to the ground next to her father and sister.

The rest of the arrows struck, killing several dozen monsters before the army hit the base of the mountain and began to mow through the monsters' ranks. "SELENA!" Percy cried out in anguish upon noticing his daughter hit the floor and the blood splatter everywhere. He crawled away from Larissa as Calix helped her up towards his second daughter, who lay motionless on the ground with a silver arrow through her eye.

The god did not seem to make the connection with the arrow, however one of his sons sure did. When Achilles saw the silver rod sticking out of his sister's eye he turned in rage towards the cavalry. Several riders headed straight for them but Achilles' rage was in full force.

He picked up a fallen monster's axe and met the riders head on, hitting one in the chest with the Celestial Bronze one and slicing a cyclops' head off with his weapon of power. Most of the horses then diverted around them, striking at every monster they could see. One centaur tried to run it straight but Achilles threw the axe and struck him in the breast, felling him immediately.

He heard more hoof clops coming his way and prepared to strike at them too until the mount suddenly slid to a stop. He looked up and saw a tall and proud silver stag, it's black eyes looking around at all the chaos. Atop it stood the one person he did not want to see right then, his own mother.

Diana halted when she saw she was stampeding right into her own family and looked upon them. She frowned in shame as she saw Achilles standing in her way glaring at her without the most vile stare she had ever seen. Behind him was her family, and her heart stopped as she saw Percy and Larissa crying as they surrounded a body while Calix stood off to the side in shock.

Percy sat up from his spot crying next to Selena's head, shaking her and repeating her name over and over again, only to see his wife atop a silver stag looking at them with shock and pain. It suddenly clicked in his head as he looked back down at Selena. Her pale face was stained with blood, her right eye dim and lifeless, but her left was destroyed by an arrow. A silver arrow.

Percy's world began to collapse around him as he put two and two together, tears falling down his face as he looked up at his wife with an unspoken question. Why? Larissa figured it out too and looked up at Diana with a look of betrayal.

When Diana saw the silver arrow in Selena's eye she broke, all the tears bursting out silently. "I-" She cried, moving forward a bit. This enraged Achilles, who pushed the stag with force, causing it to rear up in fright and throw Diana off the back. The stag walked a bit away, eager to get away from the son of Perseus as it left it's master crying on the ground.

Achilles walked over to her, tears pouring out as well. "What the fuck is wrong with you?!" He yelled at his own mother, wiping them away. Diana looked between her son and the rest of her family pleadingly. "I didn't know, I- I-" She sobbed, but Achilles didn't care. "You didn't know?! You fired the shot! You killed her! You killed my sister, I-, argh!" He yelled in frustration, kicking the dirt up in front of her and scaring the goddess.

"Go! Just go! You obviously care about your precious little hunters more than us! If you care about them so much that you're willing to kill your daughter then stay away from us! I don't want you to kill Sapphire, too!" He yelled in anger, making Diana cry even more at the thought of what she had done, and what she could potentially do to her youngest daughter.

She looked to her husband for support but found none, meeting only Percy's cold, confused and betrayed face. Larissa was devastated, though not necessarily angry, just in disbelief. Achilles was still fuming. "Leave!" He yelled, and Diana stood up slowly.

Still crying, she walked off, looking for her stag and occasionally looking back only to find her family staring at her with betrayal in their eyes. She couldn't believe it. She had killed Selena. Diana had killed her daughter.

Achilles' hate filled glare turned to the camp. "Her precious hunters." He spat, storming off to the camp and leaving his grieving family behind.

The gates were still open after the monsters had left, so Achilles had no difficulty walking right on in. Romans and Greeks picked up their weapons and got into fighting positions, slightly shocked at the son of Perseus' sudden appearance.

Armed with only his axe and shield Achiles flew into a rage, smashing people into walls and severely injuring them with his weapon. The Romans quickly caught on that he was not someone to trifle with in physical combat and immediately guards along the walls pulled back some arrows and aimed at them.

With no way or blocking forty arrows at once, Achilles grabbed an injured demigoddess and used her as a human shield. "Where are the hunters! Show me the hunters!" He demanded, threatening to kill the struggling daughter of Mercury in his grasp.

Inside the medical ward Thalia heard the yelling and walked out to see what was up. She was shocked to find a familiar looking teen standing at the gates with a legionnaire in his grasp, holding her hostage. "Where are the hunters!" He yelled again, before finally noticing Thalia. "Percy?" She asked.

The son of Perseus laughed cruelly. "No, I'm not my father. I'm something much worse. I assume you're a hunter?" He asked, and Thalia crossed her arms. "I'm the lieutenant, what do you want?" She asked impatiently. Achilles grinned a shark grin. "Your heads." He said, throwing the girl to the side and running at her with his shield raised in front of block the arrows.

Most of the archers in front of him hit the shield while the ones on the side just fucking missed, not expecting him to run so fast. Thalia's eyes widened and she turned to book it inside. Inside the medical ward were all of the hunters, some were dead or dying on the stretchers while the rest crowded around their hospitalized friends. "Run girls! Out the other way!" She yelled, and as they were trained and disciplined to be quick when responding to orders, sixteen or so girls booked it out one of the three entrances, Estelle reluctantly leaving Ari's unconscious side.

All the demigods in the ward were shocked when a man burst through the door wielding an axe and roaring like a grizzly bear. He saw the hunters booking it out the door and gave chase, pushing bystanders over and knocking over equipment.

The hunters ran up the stairs and legionnaires made to block Achilles, but they were quickly knocked over by the godling. They ran all around the North side of the wall when Thalia came up with a new plan. Go and find Diana and hide behind her. She knew they couldn't fight the son of their mistress, since if they killed him she'd likely take her rage out on them. Besides, what was the hunt compared to one of her own children?

"Over the ledge girls! Head for the woods! Don't try and fight him!" She ushered, pointing to the woods and mountain where the monsters had originally come from. The Fields of Mars were still a major battleground, but hopefully if they got to their lady's domain and prayed to her she would answer.

Under strict orders not to attack their pursuer, the girls hopped over the walls and booked it for the woods, their years of training coming in handy as they had plenty of speed and stamina. Achilles had been held up a bit by some more Romans but he quickly dispatched them and gave chase once more.

The hunters kept running amidst the sounds of the vengeful son of Artemis calling for them to stop and fight him like real women. They sprinted all the way through the woods and eventually lost each other in the dense bush. Thalia and Estelle stuck together through it all, not stopping and hoping one of the other hunters had managed to find a safe spot to pray to their mistress.

They ran uphill a lot, eventually finding a break in the trees. Since Achilles would likely be in the forest searching for them, Thalia and Estelle ran up the hill, only to be met with rock and cliff. Stones flew off the edge as Estelle skidded to a halt, inches away from falling off. She felt queasy as she saw the 50 foot drop.

Both hunters cursed silently as they heard rapid footsteps behind them and they turned, met with a bloodthirsty son of Achilles grinning at them madly and wielding his axe. Convinced he wouldn't need it, he threw his shield to the side and instead gripped the axe with both hands.

Thalia held her arms out in front of Estelle protecting the daughter of Sally as Achilles took a few steps closer to them. He laughed and took a swing at the two, with Thalia throwing Estelle out of the way before dodging herself. The daughter of Zeus took out her spear and pointed it threateningly at Achilles.

"Stay back, milady will be here any minute." She warned, and Achilles rolled his eyes. "I'm so scared." He mocked before suddenly throwing his axe at Thalia. It struck her spear and sent both weapons flying to the ground, and before Thalia had time to react he tackled her to the ground and began wrestling with the daughter of Zeus.

The two began rolling around, Achilles reaching for her neck and Thalia punching him in the face. Achilles growled and spat blood into Thalia's eyes, making her cry out from the pain of a foreign liquid in her eyes and just the overall disgusting factor of such an act. She would have preferred a knife in the gut, to be honest.

She kneed him in the stomach and he fell back, allowing her to grapple onto his neck. Achilles was surprised by the sudden choking but fought back, headbutting her and stunning the lieutenant. Now Achilles was back on top, straddling her and latching onto her neck instead. The son of Perseus choked her out for a few seconds before a whistle caught his attention, making him turn and catch sight of a boot headed for his face.

Achilles fell off Thalia clutching his sore face, while Estelle helped her commanding officer to her feet. Surprising both of them Achilles ran up and faster than Hermes he pushed Thalia over and jumped on Estelle.

The daughter of Sally struggled against her much stronger nephew trying to gouge her eyes out of break her neck or anything. He caught sight of a golden glint next to him and grinned, grabbing the hilt of the axe and raising it above his head to kill her.

"Arf!" They heard a dog bark and a loud growl before Achilles suddenly cried out in pain. Estelle looked over and saw a familiar big dog latched to his wrist, chomping down hard. "Achilles!" She yelled happily, and the son of Perseus turned to her wondering how she knew his name.

In severe pain and very pissed off at the dog, Achilles stood and ran to the cliffside, dangling the dog over and shaking his arm a bit. This proved to be a fruitless endeavor, as not only did the dog stay firm on his arm, but the shaking caused the dog's teeth to dig in deeper to his flesh and likely pierce multiple blood vessels. "No!" Estelle yelled, running over and grabbing her dog to stop him from falling fifty feet.

At the sight of the daughter of Sally in front of him, Achilles' rage flared back up and he raised his axe to cut her down. Skllkkl.

Achilles looked down to see an arrow sticking out of his chest, and he looked back at Thalia. The daughter of Zeus had her bow aimed towards him as she drew another arrow. As Estelle walked back to her CO, Achilles felt himself getting drowsy from all the blood lost. In a fruitless attempt to kill her, Achilles ran at Estelle axe raised.

"Thalia, no!" Artemis suddenly appeared with her hunters, having replaced Diana. It was too late though as Thalia had already let the arrow fly, and it flew right into Achilles' abdomen. The son of Artemis fell back, staggering to the cliffside.

He let go of the axe and it dropped all the way down, waiting a few seconds before clanging on some rocks below. Tears came to Artemis' eyes as she saw her fatally injured son. "Achilles…" She cried, stepping closer to him.

The second son turned his gaze to her, eyes bloodshot and struggling to breathe. He could hardly get any words out. His mouth opened, and Artemis made to go heal him until he uttered one word. "Traitor~"

The son of Perseus and Artemis then fell backwards, plummeting fifty feet and landing on the rocks below next to his axe, dead.

In a dark and foggy world Selena stood, scared and confused as she wandered aimlessly. It was so grey, she worried that this Tartarus or some other bad place. She wasn't exactly the favor of the gods, after all.

She turned and saw two familiar heads of black hair. "Uri? A-Achilles?" She asked in confusion. The two turned and her suspicions were confirmed as she saw the faces of her two younger brothers. Before they could say anything both were covered by the strange mist and vanished forever.

"Selena?" She heard another voice say from behind her, and she turned. Her old friend Michael stood there, looking at her with fear and shock. "Where are we? What happened to your eye?" He asked, and Selena was confused.

She reached up and touched her eye with one finger, only to find nothing there? Her heart started racing as she reached further, thinking she just missed or something. Her finger went into her eye socket, and Selena almost had a mental breakdown as it refused to stop. She touched something gooey and mushy further back than her eye could possibly have been and suddenly it all came flooding back to her.

Artemis' silver arrow.

Uri's death.

"You… You bastard!" She yelled, lunging towards him. She tackled Michael to the ground and started clawing at his face, as Larissa had been doing only a few days previous. "YOU KILLED MY BROTHER!" She screamed, attempting to brutalize her old friend.

CRACK!

There was a loud noise, like a whip or lightning, and Selena was forced off of him by an invisible force, made to stand many feet away from him as Michael was pulled to his feet. "What the fuck?" She wondered in confusion while Michael wiped the blood off of his face

"Your time is not yet come…" They heard a raspy and mysterious voice whisper like the wind, before there was a blinding light and Selena lost sight of Michael.

She woke up suddenly in her father's arms, panting heavily and flicking her eye around at everything. Percy and Larissa's eyes were wide as they looked down at her, and Selena was deafened by the sound of weapons clashing and horses stampeding. "S~Selena?" Percy asked, tears flooding down his face as his daughter coughed blood. "Dad?" She gasped, before falling unconscious again.

With the hope his daughter was alive, Percy handed her to Larissa and beckoned Calix over. "Get her to safety. I'll get Achilles." He told the twins before flashing the three away. The father stood, running off to go find his second son.

It took only a few minutes to find him, motionless at the bottom of the very cliff the Jacksons had stood on only a few hours previous. "Achilles…" Percy's eyes were wide as he saw his son. The god ran to his side, desperate and afraid. "No, no, no, no, no, not you too…" He whimpered.

He slid to his knees next to Achilles and held him in his arms. Vivid memories of his son's childhood flashed through his mind as he felt only anguish. "Please…. Don't leave me, not you too…"

Syke, you thought I was gonna kill Selena off lmaoaoaoao like I would do that she's the best character in this story. But Achilles is dead fr soooooooo
