Chapter 37

"It's amazing that there are no traces of Innocence in her body." Komui and Bak Chan rubbed their chins as they looked at the collated data, wondering how in the world this had happened.

After the whole ordeal, they would expect that there would at least be some remnants of Innocence, but she was free of it. Compared to the former exorcists, it was almost like she wasn't one at all.

"What do you mean?" Allen pulled his shirt back on, buttoning it up. He had come in for an examination under Komui's request, to see how his parasitic Innocence was holding up.

"Sin's body is a little bit strange. Back when she ended the war, her body absorbed the Innocence to heal her wounds." Komui hummed in thought, nodding a couple of times, "But then after she healed and she woke up, since she used to have a parasitic Innocence, there would be some traces in her body, right? However, we didn't find any, unlike yours."

"How's that even possible?" The gray haired teen raised a brow in confusion. If anything, Sin's body should be similar to his. After all, they both bore parasitic Innocences.

"Which is why we're thinking," Bak interjected, pointing up at the data on the screen. "Maybe it has to do with the fact she - that Mei - was the one who activated the fire of purification. Though, scientifically speaking, it seems a near impossible task?" He questioned his own train of thought, wondering if he was articulating it right.

He was running on little to no sleep after Sin was reported to be awake.

Komui resigned with a sigh, waving a hand. He took a sip of the coffee that was dutifully prepared by his secretary, Bridgette.

"Anything is possible with Innocence."

"You're right!" Johnny, who had been listening in, chimed in with a bright smile. "Anything is possible!"

"Ack!" Bak let out a strange sound, jumping in surprise at the younger scientists' enthusiasm.

"You're right." Allen smiled at him, agreeing with his thoughts. After all, having witnessed many things as an exorcist and as a travelling clown, there was many things he saw.

"By the way, how is the data on Sin?" Johnny asked, curious. He heard them talk about Innocence residue, but nothing else.

"Ah, she's actually pretty healthy, albeit weak. She's lost a lot of muscle mass and will need to train back up to bounce back. Brain is healthy too, no concussions or anything of the sort." Komui reported with a grin.

"She's actually waiting in the lobby with Tyki and Wisely. She said she wanted to look around and walk with her 2 feet." The Chief swished the remaining coffee in his mug, the corners of his lips remaining curled.

He was incredibly happy that she had woken up and was healthy - what surprised him was that she still held the same brightness that she did when he last saw her.

After the war, the Order had become swamped with work, especially in regards to exorcists and Innocence. It had become apparent that there were no more akuma, and incredibly weak to no powers for those who had Innocence.

Orders from higher up tasked the Order to change their trajectory and aims or continue researching about Innocence.

Komui and the scientists picked the latter, having realised that phenomena, albeit weaker than before, were still happening around the world. To figure out what was going on and why it was still happening, exorcists and finders would go out and collect information.

Tasks were not as dangerous as before - but now, instead of akuma, there were traces of Innocence taking forms of natural beings that may or may not be destructive. Some of them were easier tasks, some of them were harder.

Whilst all this happened, Sin was resting in Katarina's residence. However, after Komui and the Order got word that she had awoken, slowly, the numbers of cases started dwindling down, until it reached 0.

Did her awakening cause the phenomena to stop? Komui had wondered about that once he figured out the correlation, but he didn't have any solid evidence apart from 'it was a coincidence'.

Allen smiled, "I'll see how she's doing then. I haven't talked to her properly in a long time." He walked out the door, waving happily to the overworked scientists.

Komui glanced at Johnny. He stared at him for a solid few seconds, then spoke, "What are your plans after the Order?"

"Me?" He pointed to himself, brows raising. Komui hummed with a nod. "I'll…" His words trailed off as he thought of what to do. After all, he didn't know how long he'd be able to continue working at the Order.

"Don't worry," The older Lee placed a hand on his scientist's shoulder, smiling. "You have some time to think about it."

Komui headed back to start working, but he really did wonder what the scientists were going to do after the higher ups stopped funding the Order and asked them to disband.

"How are you feeling?" Tyki asked after a moment of hesitation. He could feel her hands clenching around his own, their arms hooked as he supported her to walk.

"Y-yeah, just, I'm not really used to it…" Sin laughed nervously.

Wisely just watched what was going on with an open mouth, wondering why his uncle felt the need to support her with his person, rather than get a set of crutches.

Well, I guess it does make sense, the former Noah thought for a moment, trying to find a logical reasoning to make sense of it. Her arms would be weak too, to even properly support herself.

A week after she woke up, she was taken to the Order to get examined - and although they managed to get there easily, Sin insisted that she start walking because she didn't want Tyki to carry her everywhere.

Wisely swore he saw the look of disappointment in Tyki's face when she spoke up. But from the current situation, he didn't think there was anything to worry about.

After Sin had finished her examination, she was going to look around the Order, to see her exorcist friends and those that she knew. Of course, she wasn't able to greet everyone, and some still gave her nasty looks or didn't want to talk due to her reputation. It didn't make it any better that the former Noah were with her, protecting her like guard dogs. Most of the exorcists, finders and those who worked for the Order, still had grudges against Noah and what they've done, so naturally they steered clear of them.

"Sin!" From behind, Allen jogged up to the trio with a light smile.

"Boy." Tyki never really bothered to say his name and referred to him as such. They turned around to face the former circus worker.

Seeing the current situation, made Allen wonder if it was alright for her to be wandering around so freely. "How's everything, Sin?"

"It's...been better, but right now it's not too bad. I need to build up my muscle strength again." Sin sighed lightly.

"It's ok, you'll be able to move easily again soon."

"Hopefully." Sin smiled at him, "What will you be doing now? I heard that exorcists weren't exactly a thing anymore."

"I don't know just yet," Allen scratched his cheek lightly, then crossed his arms, thinking. "Maybe find my master? I know he's alive…though I don't know where he is..." He suggested that topic, but then made an expression as he shook his head in disagreement with his spoken words, "No, maybe not. There's a lot to think about, but it'll end up fine I think." He uncrossed his arms, shrugging. "What about you?"

"I'll be staying with Tyki and Wisely." Sin cocked a brow, "Is what I've been told, but I've been at Katarina's the whole time."

"We're going to take you to live with the Kamelot's." Tyki spoke. "Since the Order's got your info you can freely go. Plus, we have the arc so it's fine."

"Does...that mean I'll see the Millennium Earl…?" Sin made an expression of worry, having no idea what this meant. He should have lost if not all, most, of his powers. But just hearing the name is nerve racking.

After all, she was Sin, not Mei. Mei was the one who wasn't weary of the Earl because of their previous connection.

Mei…

The last time Sin remembered the Kamelot household was when she was there with the other Noah. They weren't mean to her or anything, but she was only comfortable mainly around Tyki and Wisely.

"Yeah, you can see him," Tyki nodded. "Don't worry, he's harmless now. You'll just see him crying here and there." He smirked, "Wow, after waking up, you've become a scaredy cat," He teased her by pulling her cheek.

With a frown, Sin made a face at him, making him stifle his laughter by covering his mouth with his free hand. Seeing him laughing, she turned her attention back to Allen. "I guess it'll be easy to find me, then. I'm probably stuck with these 2." She pointed to Tyki and Wisely with a resigned sigh.

Allen laughed, "I'll be sure to come. I've been meaning to have a match of poker with Tyki." His eyes gleamed as they challenged Tyki's.

"I'll be waiting, Boy." Amusement glinted in the former Noah's.

Wisely, like always, just watched the conversation. He didn't have his Demon Eye abilities anymore (they were incredibly weak now), but he had an inkling of a feeling of what everyone was thinking based on their facial expressions.

With a long sigh, Wisely followed Tyki and Sin as they continued to walk down the corridor, occasionally bumping into people they knew and making conversation.

He couldn't help but smile at how happy his uncle looked - before, he looked down, but now that Sin's awake, he could see his happiness radiating off him.

He likened him to a love-sick puppy, silently laughing at how it resembled him.

With his arms behind his head, he exhaled as he felt the breeze outside. They had eventually gone outside per Sin's request.

Ah...this is nice.

Wisely's eyes trailed to where Sin and Tyki were. Sin was looking at the flowers, which she said she wanted to see because she didn't just want to see a wheat field. They seemed to be enjoying themselves, genuinely wanting to stay in each other's company when they couldn't before.

His lips curled up just slightly, thinking about how hard it was when they had separated as Noah and exorcist.

Noah and exorcists...

He recalled the moments before Sin had awoken. He wasn't actually in the room, but he knew. Images had flashed into his head, almost like a broken reel, and it was of the original cast back many thousands of years ago.

Mei, the original Joyd, Aelius, and the original Wisely.

He knew instantly who they were, but he was unsure of why they had appeared - until they all started smiling, waving and mouthing words he couldn't hear.

But he knew what they were going to say, and with the thousand years worth of memories stored in his mind, he felt a wave of sadness overcome him, one that didn't taste mournful due to the departure, but bittersweet, like dark chocolate.

While heading back to the room where Sin stayed, the former Demon Eye could only smile, tears slipping down his cheeks as he finally heard their voices ring in his ears.

"Thank you, and goodbye!"

They sounded so happy, so relieved - after all, their burdens had all been lifted, and they were free to leave as there were no more chains binding them.

"Wisely?" Sin waved a hand in front of the young adult, wondering if he was present. He had been staring off into space while they looked around the garden.

Snapping out of it with a karate chop to the head, he pouted at his uncle who just gave him a smirk.

"We were asking you if you wanted to come with us to see Sin's family." Tyki repeated for the 4th time.

"Oh," Wisely made an 'o' with his mouth, then nodded. "I don't have anything else to do."

Sin grinned, "Then it's settled! Once I'm able to move easily, let's go visit them, and then see if we can visit Eeze, Momo and Clark!"

"Ah…a good idea." The Portuguese male nodded. He had seen them not too long ago, but if he saw them with Sin, it would make them incredibly happy.

I can see his thoughts written all over his face, Wisely just stared at him like a clown machine at the carnival.

He watched them as they entered the building again, and with one last look at the scenery and feeling the breeze on his skin, he followed suit.

I guess this will be the birth of a new chapter, Wisely thought, with no Innocence, no Noah and no akuma.

When looking at the two, Wisely couldn't help but smile sincerely.

And one where you'll be together.
