Alex wasn't sure if Eyal's widen eyes were of shock or fear. 'Eyal?' Nothing. 'Eyal you hear me?'
Eyal snapped out of whatever stupor he was in. 'Act like you have to use the restroom.'
'What?! No!'
'Now Alex!' Eyal swallowed the growl threatening to get out.
Alex grumbled, jumping off the couch. Cantering towards the door, clawing the bottom. 'The humiliation.'
Ziva peaked up over her book. "Want to go out?"
"I'll take her." Eyal promptly offered. Untangling himself off her, giving Ziva a quick kiss. "We will be right back."
Ziva frowned, at his quickness to leave the apartment. "What the hell was that about?"
Alex sighed as they rounded the block for the third time. Glancing up at the man, she glared back down at the ground. Eyal had not said a single word about Ziva or the pregnancy. Why wasn't he jumping from excited? 'Eyal, what is up with you? I thought you would be happy to know Ziva is pregnant.'
Eyal halted in his tracks. 'Of course, I happy. I am ecstatic even.'
'Then what the hell is your problem?!' Alex barked. 'The first thing you did was run away from her!' Alex leaped back; at the sudden roar, he gave her. Before she could comprehend what was happening, she was taken down to the ground. A dark timber wolf, stood over her, her throat in his mouth. Crap.
'Do not dare and accuse me of running away from her!' Eyal lashed out at. 'Ziva means everything to me, only death it's self would be able to rip me away from her!'
'Then what's the problem?!' Alex shoved him off, shouting at the yank he gave her neck. 'Ow jerk!'
'A lot of things Alex.' Eyal stood from the ground, shaking himself off. 'You wouldn't understand.'
'Try me.' Alex sat down, staring him down. 'Is this because of your last family?'
Eyal shook his head, gazing down at the ground. 'No-yes-N-' He hesitated, taking in a deep breath. 'Some of it yes. When I found Ziva, I was over the moon. Ever since her eyes locked with mine, her hand brushed against me, her velvet like voice reached my ear, I knew I would be putty in her hands. I fell in love with her the second I saw her. I still get the same feeling I got when she first told me she loves me back. Her lips against mine give me such a rush that nearly makes me fall over. Each day with her is another I fall more for her smile, her laugh, her tendencies for planning murder and everything else about her. Nothing in this world can make me feel as amazing, as loved, as she makes me feel.'
Alex watched his eyes glazed over. His voice held nothing, but love and passion. 'But?'
'But I know what it feels to lose one's mate and child. To see them take their last breath.' Eyal confided. 'I don't want to go through that again. I lose Ziva, I lose myself.'
'Eyal, why would you lose her?' Alex was confused.
'The human body was not made to bare a wolves child, Alex. That child could kill her.' Eyal growled, pacing in front of her. 'You sure you heard right?'
'Eyal, you can check yourself. The pup has a very strong beat.' Alex declared.
'How can I be so stupid!' His snarl scaring a couple walking by. 'I was sure we were careful. For fuck sakes, I made sure to pull out!'
Alex cringed. 'I really didn't need that to image in my head. Ziva is a strong woman, she will get through this.'
'I know she is, but that doesn't mean I won't worry. There is a 50/50 chance she will end up having a wolf pup Alex. If that is the case, lots of things will happen.' Eyal once more began to pace. He needed to get ahold of himself. 'What the fuck am I going to do?!'
Alex, having had enough of his panicking and pacing, tackled him to the ground. 'One you need to calm down and stop pacing. Two man up and take responsibility. Three you are not even sure the child will be a wolf.'
Eyal growled, ready to strike back. But in the end, he gave in. She was right. Ziva needed him the most right now. She didn't even know she was pregnant for heaven's sake. 'Alex, she doesn't know about me. How am I suppose to explain to her what she might be carrying, and the dangers behind it?'
Alex shrugged. 'Tell her.'
'Are you insane?!' Eyal barked. 'I tell her and I will lose her forever. Ziva will want nothing to do with me.'
'Eyal, Ziva loves you. She has told you herself. She has showed it many times.'
'It's not the same Alex.' Eyal nudged her off, pulling himself up to a stand. 'I can't.'
Alex sighed. 'You can and you will. Do you love her?'
'With everything fiber of my being.'
'Would you do anything for her?'
'Without hesitation.'
'Does she love you?'
'Yes.'
'Then tell her.' She stopped him from interrupting once more. 'If you're meant to be with her, it will work out. Whether it's difficult sometimes. If you truly love her, what's meant to be will always be.'
Eyal took in deep breath, before giving her a slight nod. 'Alright.'
Making a quick stop at his apartment to change, they both headed back to Ziva's place. Alex could smell the nervous fear coming from the man. 'Calm down Eyal. You are making me nervous.'
Eyal scoffed. 'How do you think I am feeling.'
'I am guessing this isn't what you had planned.' Alex chuckled.
If looks could kill, Nathan would be mate less right about now. 'If you mean finding out my girlfriend is pregnant and having to tell her I am a werewolf, then yeah. Not what I had planned.' Reaching the unit, he grabbed the door knob and paused. Taking in three deep breaths, he pushed the door open.
Ziva glanced up from her book, giving him a warm smile. "What took you two so long?"
"Luna can be very picky in finding the right spot." Eyal replied.
Alex growled, snipping at his leg. 'Asshole!'
Ziva chuckled, patting the seat beside her. "Come back here. I was comfortable."
Eyal removed his jacket, taking a seat beside her. Wrapping an arm around her shoulder, he pulled her in closer to him, kissing the top of her head. "I love you Neshama."
Ziva leaned her head back, kissing him under his chin. "I love you too Eyal."
"No matter what?"
"No matter what."
Eyal looked towards Alex, getting a slight nod from her. "Ziva, I-we need to talk."
Ziva froze, pulling away from his slowly. Her face was neutral, giving nothing away. "Okay, what is it?"
"Alright." Running his hand through his hair, he inhaled deeply. "Ever since I met you, I have always been honest with you. But there is one thing, I have kept quiet."
Ziva nodded slowly. "You're married. I knew it, it was too good to be true."
'Not what I thought she would have guessed.' Alex chuckled.
"Wh-what? No-no I am not married." Eyal scoffed, cupping her jaw. "I have never betrayed you. There is only you in my life Nehama, no one else." Pulling her in for a kiss, he rested his forehead on hers. "What I want to tell you, is solely about me. But I want you to promise me something." Ziva nodded. "After I show you, I need you to honestly tell me if you still want to be with me or not."
"Eyal, what can be so bad that I wouldn't want to be with you anymore?" Ziva asked.
"It may be more of what it means for us, than what it truly is." Eyal replied. "Before I do, I need to tell you this. When I met you, I'd already lost my entire world. I always believed I would never find anyone i'd love again. I always thought, how can you hang on to something so incomprehensible? But then there you were. There was something in those brown eyes that was just mesmerizing, so safe and warm. In just one look I was home. I threw caution up in the air and reached out. That first day we talked, just the two of us, I still recall the feelings you gave me. You didn't know it, but that day you saved me. It just made this so much harder to tell you."
Ziva leaned in nose to nose. "Whatever it is, you can tell me Eyal."
"Let me show you."
Pulling her into a deep kiss, he poured everything he was feeling. This could very well be the last time he is able to. Standing from the couch, he stood in the middle of the living room. 'Alex, sit beside her.'
'Of course.' Jumping up on the couch, she laid with her upper body on Ziva's lap.
"Whatever happens do not try and help me. Do not move. Do not scream."
Ziva nodded apprehensively, watching as he removes his shirt, leaving him half naked. To her surprised his chest was gleaming with sweat. Droplets rolling down his chest and over his abs. His hair was flattened down, as if someone had just dumped a bucket of water on him. As he took in deep breaths, she watched his chest rise and fall. His hands were clenched at his side. The veins on his arms, becoming visible. Eyal closed his eyes, preparing himself to shift. Ziva's eyes widening at seeing him fall to the ground with a loud howl. In an attempt to help him, she was stopped by Luna's weight on her. Before she could push the wolf off her, she looked up at hearing the snarls coming from Eyal. What she saw had her petrified. The man was tearing his skin off! Ziva jumped at the sound of his bones snapping, followed by Eyal's howl. What felt like hours for Ziva, was only seconds for Eyal. It wasn't long before a dark timber wolf laid on the floor panting.
Alex could hear Ziva's heart pounding insanely fast. Still, she needed to keep her still. A wolf is more dangerous in the shifting process. It's when they were the most vulnerable. When shifting there is that small time frame, where the person doesn't recognize anyone or anything. To them everything is a danger and that's when the fight or flight kicks in. Alex watched him carefully, looking for any signs of the fight kicking in. Eyal laid with his back turned to them, so she wasn't able to see his face. His side rose and fell from his heavy breathing. Glancing up at Ziva, she found her wide eyed, with her jaw dropped. 'Eyal?'
'Give me a second.' Eyal breathed. 'Ziva?'
'Well, she isn't reaching for her gun.'
Eyal chuckled/scoffed. 'Good. Let her get up if she wants.'
Alex pushed herself off the woman, moving to the other end of the couch. 'You feeling okay?'
'Fine.'
"Eyal?" Ziva slid down to the floor, with her back against the base of couch. "Hey, can you hear me?" Ever so slowly, Eyal moved to lay on his stomach. The moment his bright eyes landed on her; she took in a shaky breath. "You're a wolf." She nodded to herself, almost as if confirming what she just saw. "My boyfriend is a wolf."
Eyal perked up at hearing what she called him. In an instant he shifted back, grabbing the throw blanket from the couch and wrapping it around his waist. "Boyfriend?" Holding his hand out to her, he waited for her answer. Those 2 seconds were the longest ever.
Ziva placed her hand in his, pulling herself up. "Yes, boyfriend." Seeing the look of shock on him, she pulled him for a kiss. "Meeting you was a fate, being your friend at choice. And falling in love, was bound to happen. You are the one who keeps me shielded, defends me from the world. You are the one I will die a thousand times for. I chose you, and I am willing to repeat that action over and over. A million times over."
Eyal walked up to her slowly and pulled her closer to him wrapping his arms around her. His embrace was warm, and his strong arms encircling her in a protective hold. The world around them, melting away as she squeezed him back. Neither of them wanting the moment to end.
"So, you accept my animal side?" Eyal whispered into her hair, getting a slight nod. "Just like that?"
Ziva pulled back, giving him a cheeky grin. "I have a lot of questions, but I want you to know it's going to take a lot more, than this to get rid of me."
"More than me being able to turn into a wolf?" Eyal chuckled.
"Much more." Ziva jabbed a finger at his chest.
Eyal grabbed her hand, pulling it for a kiss. "Why?"
Alex rolled her eyes. 'You can't just accept the fact that she wants you, fur and all.'
Ziva grabbed his chin, forcing him to look down at her. "Because I love you. Nothing else needs to be said." Giving him a quick kiss, she pushed him away as the kiss got heated. "Mmm, no."
Eyal raised a brow. "No?"
"I did say I have a lot of questions and I do." Ziva said. "Go get dressed, so we can talk." Ziva took a back on the couch, while Eyal rushed into the room. Ziva exhaled deeply, pushing her hair back. "What the hell just happened?"
'Your boyfriend turned into a wolf in front of you.' Alex yawned, stretching herself on the couch. Ger front paws dangling off the couch. 'And you told him it didn't matter.'
Ziva leaned forward gazing into Alex's eyes, running a hand through her fur. "You one of them as well?"
Alex grinned, showing off her canine. 'If only you knew.'
