Find out next here on War of the Bands.

And if you like the story, remember to mark it as a favorite. Or, if you like, leave a review. This helps me find out what did you like and what you didn't about the story, and it also will help me improve now and in the future. Now before starting, let me answer last week's reviews.

The night before

The last rehearsal had finished, and every Black Unicorn's member had the rest of the day to relax before the competition. For B, there weren't many alternatives. He could meet Dawn in the Animal Shelter or call Scarlett, who he became closer after the 3rd round. But the silent man decided that it would be better to relax alone at home.

When he arrived, the house was dark. B's mother must have been working overtime again, something he was used to. He swept the floor, put the washing machine, and prepared the clothes he'll use tomorrow on the show, especially his cap and his lucky long coat.

All seemed like a dream. Just yesterday, he was scared of being caught by the police and hating his former best friend for framing him. Now he was here, the drummer of a band with new friends, friends that understand him and back him up in his darkest hour, even Duncan.

Now Alejandro would go to jail. He only hoped the judges would show clemency. They were underage at the time of the crime, and Alejandro seemed to want to use it for that girl and not for profit. His former friend of all people meeting his downfall for a woman. That's some first-grade irony.

B then made dinner for himself and his mother, so she could eat something when she comes home. Afterward, he did the dishes and watched some tv.

To his surprise, there was a program about the War of the Bands. He smiled, seeing himself and the rest on TV. Ella was beautiful as always, Trent and Cody seemed so young, Duncan like some damn punk, and he…

What the hell? He had to come closer to the screen to watch more carefully the image, yes, B on TV look fatter, what the heck?

The drummer scowled and turn off the tv. It was true that on the screen you look hunkier (or rather fatter) than you really are, but in his case, it was ridiculous.

The silent man went to the full mirror in his bathroom and took off his long coat (the one he uses in the rehearsal). He watched himself at it and, the horror. When did he gain so much weight? He was never of the slender type, but right now, he must be the second bulkiest guy in the competition after Owen!

Anyway, it's over. After winning the competition tomorrow, it's diet time, his goal returning to the 100 kg mark. B went out of the bathroom and directly to his room to write on his inventions diary that he needed to build something to help him lose weight.

Opening his old notebook, B saw some of his old blueprints. There was a sewer machine for Tom, a blade sharpener for Josee, and a machine to help Brick with his daily jogging.

B sighed while looking at the old images and then turned his gaze at his phone. Maybe it was Ella's influence, but he took the phone and searched on the number list before making a call.

"Hello!? Yes, it's me. It's been a while…"

Duncan took his bike and went to the animal shelter. He could go home, but it would be awkward because tonight his father would be at home. Anyway, he already told his mother about the finals tomorrow, and she almost cried. If he knew she would be so happy for his boy doing something legal, he would tell her earlier.

The delinquent entered the store, he was waiting to hear some snarky remark coming from that gremlin Dawn, but instead, he was almost knocked down by a woman who jumped and hugged him.

"Duncan! Thank you, thank you, oh thank you," shouted Zoey, almost choking the delinquent.

"Breath, I need to breathe," the delinquent struggled to say as he began to turn blue.

Zoey released him, showing a radiant smile."Oh, I'm so sorry, but I wanted to express my gratitude, Duncan. You're a true friend and a really nice person."

"What? Do you say HE is a nice person? Ok is officially over. The doomsday is here. I'll call my friends, and we'll go and enjoy the forest one last time," said Dawn taking out her phone.

"Haha, you're so funny, gremlin," Duncan frowned at Dawn before facing Zoey again. "And what's this all about, Red? I don't remember doing anything for you to be so grateful."

"Oh, don't be so humble, Mike called me. He explained everything, apologized for avoiding and lying to me, and told me how important I'm to him. I'll meet with him later today," said Zoey jumping for joy.

"That's great, congratulations," said Duncan in a snarky tone. "but I didn't do anything," he then smirked. The delinquent was secretly glad that spikey hair had taken the right decision.

Zoey hugged him again. "Oh, you're still saying that. Mike also told me that you helped him to make the decision and gave him the push he needed. So we're totally grateful to you. You're like one of those manga heroes that seem like a delinquent but help kittens on the street."

"Alright, alright, too much gratitude. Now get going and meet with your prince, that tomorrow is his big day," said Duncan blushing, he wasn't used to people thanking him, except when he let them go unharmed.

The redhead looked at her phone with wide eyes."You're right. I have to go, see you tomorrow. But sorry, I'll be cheering for H-tonics," she said before running out of the store.

"I can't believe it. What's next? Will you become more polite and help us take care of the animals?" asked Dawn looking at him with a small smile.

"Oh, just shut up Dawn," said Duncan blushing as he went to the back store to greet DJ.

The jock was washing some puppies. Duncan watched him smirking. It was always heartwarming to see the big guy taking care of the animals.

"You really like those little pests, don't you?" Said Duncan, startling DJ.

The big man frowned. "Oh man, don't do that! I could have hurt one of these little fellas."

"Sorry, sorry, I just wanted to come and say hi," said Duncan, not truly apologizing.

"It's true! Tomorrow is the finals! We already asked the manager, and he gave us the day to go and watch the finals, so you better win. I'll be cheering as loud as I can," said DJ giving thumbs up to the delinquent.

"Thanks, man, I knew I can always count on you," said Duncan sitting on a box.

DJ dried his hands and looked at his friend, talking in a more serious tone. "And did you talk with Courtney?"

"Talk about what?" replied Duncan. Damn it. He should have imagined that DJ would ask him about her.

"About what, man? You know, your relationship? She still doesn't know if you are over over, or if after the misunderstanding, you will go back," said the Jamaican guy, looking at him with sad eyes.

Duncan stood silent for a moment, looking at the window of the back store. "She will never forgive me after what I did, and also I may have fallen for another girl."

"Man, she will forgive you. She understands that they tricked you. But if you really like another girl, don't be an asshole and break up with her," said DJ scowling at his friend.

"Wow, is the first time I hear you using that word. You should mean it, DJ?" said Duncan, trying not to laugh. DJ was always polite, so it was unusual for him saying something like that,

The Brickhouse with a heart shook his head, still frowning."My mamma taught me to be polite, but also to call things by its name."

And he was right. Duncan should make a decision soon if he wanted to be fair with both Ella and Courtney

Trent was tuning his guitar and playing a little. Yes, they decided to stop practicing for the rest of the day. But for him playing was a part of himself and helped him to relax.

The musician was thinking in the irony. Eight weeks ago, he struggled to compose, still depressed for the end of his relationship with Gwen and the Drama Brothers' break up.

And thanks to Cody and Ella, he now was here, competing for the title of the best (juvenile) band of Canada in a reality show. It seemed like a dream. They had so many problems and struggles, but at last, they were here.

And the final was against Harold, his friend, then enemy, and then friend again. The time apart helped him to look at Harold in a different light. He was just like Trent, struggling to reach higher, polishing his skills, and trying to become the person they wanted to be. Maybe it was because they were so similar that they clashed so often in the band.

A knock on his door took Trent out of his thought. The person knocking then entered the room, it was a mean-looking man with thick glasses and dressed in a gray suit. It was Trent's father.

"Trenton, I'll go out to meet a client, so don't wait for me and dine early," said the man, looking at his watch.

Trent raised an eyebrow, "Ok, but it was enough to tell mom. You didn't need to come all the way here to tell me."

"I know, but I also wanted to ask you something. Tomorrow you'll be in the final of your show. At what time it starts?" asked his father, rubbing his neck just like Trent.

"I think you didn't like the idea of me playing music. How many times we fight about that?" said Trent. He never forgave his father for trying to oblige him to stop playing.

The man adjusted his glasses. "I still think that you could do better than being a musician, but if this is the path you have chosen, I want at least be there for you."

Trent was shocked and replied absentmindedly. "Guest and familiars can go into the stage from 16:00 onward."

"Perfect, we'll be there. Do your best Trenton, win or lose you know we're proud of you," Trent's father then went down the stairs.

The young musician didn't know what to say. It was like one of those fairytales of Ella. After all these years, his father supported him in his dream of becoming a musician. He was so happy he didn't know how to react.

He stood up and called Cody, but the brunette boy's phone gave him a busy signal. He'll call him later.

Cody, he'll always be grateful to his friend, not only for inviting him into the band (well, more like forcing him in creating it,) but he was always by his side in these last 14 years.

When they met Gwen. Both fell in love with her, but the goth chose Trent. Even then, Cody never resented him and always supported him in his relationship.

That's why this situation with Ella was so hard for him. It was the same. Both fell in love with the Fairy Princess. If she chooses Cody, it will be time for him to support his friend, but if she chooses Trent, he hopes that Cody will forgive him.

It is a silly thought because Cody is not the type to hold grudges, but he was afraid anyway.

Trent called Cody again, and this time it connected. Hearing the voice of his friend dispelled any doubts. It didn't matter if Ella chooses Cody or him. They will always be friends.

Cody was too nervous. Tomorrow was the final, and against H-tonics. It was like the final battle in an action movie where the last and most dangerous enemy was your former friend.

But they will not lose. After all, he had his friends, and all were awesome, all except him. So he needed to work harder than everyone else because it will be his fault if they lose.

He already talked with Noah, who was thinking of dating Emma. Cody was happy for him. The Codster never imagined that Noah would get a girlfriend, and before him.

Also, Trent called him. His father would go to watch him tomorrow. Trent always had issues with his old man because he wanted Trent to become an accountant. But it seemed he, at last, accept Trent's decision to be a musician.

Cody was envious of his friend. He never tried to tell his parent about the show. They were always too busy and rarely at home. Olivia told him that he should call them, that they will be happy to know about the contest. Still, Cody was afraid of telling them, maybe they will not be interested or will ignore him, so he decided to keep quiet.

The brunette boy was thinking about this when his phone ringed, it was Sam.

"Yo, man, what's up?" said Cody, sitting on his bed.

"Hello Cody, ehehe, ready to kick some ass tomorrow?" asked Sam, in an excited voice.

"You say it! So you better go and cheer louder than Harold's fans," said Cody smiling. It was true, they will be there tomorrow. It sounded more real when another person said it.

"You can bet it. I have made a banner bigger than a Terran's Battlecruiser[1]," said Sam in a prideful tone. "But I wanted to ask you about a different matter."

"It's about tips to date that Dakota chick? Just do what I said. Be yourself and forget everything you learn in your datesim[2]," said Cody in a fake irritated tone.

Sam chuckled, but his voice cracked a little. "No, is about that Sierra Neumann, you remember her, right?"

Cody felt his stomach turn at the mention of that name. Even if Trent said that she helped them discover the truth behind Devil's Muse, he couldn't forgive her after the blog's incident.

"Of course I remember. What about her?" asked Cody in a disgruntled tone.

"Well, she'll like to know if she can go and cheer for you in the finals? Ehehe," asked Sam, trying to sound light-hearted.

The brunette guy let himself fell on his bed, frowning. "She can do whatever she wants for what I care. She doesn't need my permission."

"Man, she doesn't want to bother you. Yes what she did was vile, but she had tried to make amends. At least let her cheer for you," said Sam, who felt sorry for the fan.

This was definitely unexpected. Cody sighed after hearing his friend. He wasn't the type to hold a grudge, "Ok, tell her she can go. I only hope I'll not regret this later."

"Don't be such a negative man. It's not like you," said Sam. Cody only smiled.

They keep talking a little more, then Cody ate dinner with Olvia, that once again told him to call his parents. He decided to let a message on his mother's phone and went upstairs to browse on the internet before going to sleep.

After reading some pages about the War of the Bands, he went to sleep. Near his bed, he had a photo of the band. He was so proud of them. Only ten weeks ago, he was having the same nightmare about the Drama Brothers' break up and fearing that he would never play again.

And now here he was, in a wonderful band competing to be the best of all the country. It was like a dream. Maybe Ella was right, and dreams come true. But for this one to be complete, they must win tomorrow against Harold's band

Ella was dining at home with her grandma. Her aunt Henriette[3] went out shopping, so it was only the two of them.

"I see you on TV again. You looked so pretty and have such a beautiful voice. I always brag with my friends about you," said the old woman smiling.

"Oh mamie, I am not that good, but I assure you I love singing more than anyone," said Ella with a tender smile.

Her grandma smiled and looked at her with the same smile. "Jette said tomorrow is a really important date for your show. Should I come to watch?"

"Oh, do not worry, it goes for many hours, and the seats are uncomfortable. I am happy just knowing you are watching me on TV," said Ella, trying to not bother her.

"C'est ridicule. Your pépé and I travel all the way to New York to hear 'The Who' play in Woodstock. It will not be worst than that. Don't underestimate your Mamie," said the old woman laughing and flexing her arm.

Ella hugged her. "You are too much for me Mamie. Only be careful, if you do not feel well or you feel tired, do not come. Just watch me on the TV."

The old woman only laughed at her granddaughter's fears. The Fairie Princess said good night to her Mamie and did the dishes before returning to her room. She had a lot of thinking to do before going to sleep.

Her room was like a princess room, with a big bed, a dresser with a big mirror, and a wooden jewel box. Her grandfather was a carpenter and made all of them for her.

She was happy. It was like a fairytale. She was alone singing in the forest when two princes found her and asked her to sing with them. For the first time she was not the one asking, even if she was always looking for someone to sing with her. They were the ones asking for her.

Then they form the band, and at last, Ella could sing every time she wanted. Well, not every time, but more often than before.

And they began to play on the 'War of the Bands', and each week was wonderful and different. They meet so many people, and nobody shunned her. It is the best moment of her life.

And when those bad people kidnapped her, her friends come to her rescue. She could never pay them for everything they have done for her, so tomorrow she will sing. She will put her all in her singing to make the last episode of the show unforgettable.

But there was something more, something she needed to decide. In her dresser, she had carefully put some of her more cherished possessions, a necklace in the form of a glass slipper, a pair of hairclips in the form of apples, and a beautiful sleeping princess carved in wood.

The three were gifts from three princes, the three were filled with their feelings for her, but Ella only could return the love of one of them. She knew who was the one that she loved, but Ella didn't want to hurt the other two. Even if she did not love them in the same way, she still cared for all of them.

The fairy princess went to sleep. She hoped that after the show, she would know what to do.

And at last the fated day was here. After 8 weeks of performances and many tribulations and challenges the day of the final was here. The 5 performers got ready in the morning, and before they realized it was time to go.

Justin went to each of the Black Unicorn member's houses. Picking them for the last time. Justin was surprised at how calm they seemed and somehow envied them.

The model took them to the final destination, the now-familiar Total Drama Building, and left them there. The five walked in, some smiling and some smirking.

There was no more time for preparations. The time to be nervous was over. It was time for their most important performance. It was time to give their all. It was time for War of the Bands, The Final, versus H-tonics.

[1] In the videogame starcraft, the biggest unit of the Terran faction.

[2]datesim or date simulator are videogames where the objective is to create and maintain a romantic relationship with a character making decisions and improving stats or giving gifts. Very popular in Japan.

[3]Just a reminder, Ella and her grandma moved with her aunt to Toronto. Henrietta (or Jette as her mother call her) is Irene's mother, Ella's cousin that is mentioned in chapter 2.

C'est ridicule = that's ridiculous

Mamie = grandma

And the final episode is already here. What will happen next? Who will win and who will lose? And what surprises are there for our bands? Find out next in War of the Bands.

This is a classic episode of the night before. Before starting the final, I thought that it would be good for the audience to watch our protagonist in this moment and know a little more about their personal lives. I hope you enjoy it. But that was it, the next chapter will be the first part of the finals.

And as always, thanks for reading and I hope you like it
