Sesshomaru's POV
I sat on the side of my bed and stared out at the sky, clutching the letter from the Fates in my hands. It had been long after sundown when a servant had run to my door with the letter, I had read it over and over again. They had decided to come as soon as possible and would be here by late morning. I stood up and walked over to the door that led to my private gardens and sat on a stone bench. I wonder what they will discover tomorrow. I looked up at the crescent moon, I could feel our bond pulsing peacefully as she slept. I have no idea what will happen tonight but I do know that training her to fight to keep herself safe will be the only thing I'll be worried about until I know for certain she can keep herself safe.
Kagome's POV
I groaned softly as a bright light hit my closed eye lids. "Come on mom, turn off the light. Five more minutes."
I heard a sigh and snuggled back into my pillow. "My Lady?"
My eyes shot open in surprise. That's not moms voice, I blinked through the light waiting for my eyes to adjust. "Who's there?"
A soft chuckle from my left. I turned my head so fast my neck cracked. Standing a few feet away from my bed was a female demon. I sniffed the air and crinkled my nose, wolf.
She raised her hand to her face trying to hide her grin. "Good morning my Lady, did you rest well?"
I blinked in surprise. "Who are you?"
She curtsied low and lowered her head to look at the floor. "I apologize for waking you, but master Jakken sent me to wake you and to help prepare you for the day."
I sighed and waved my hand at the door. "He can wait until I'm ready." I laid back down hoping to catch the tail end of my dreams, a large white dog with golden eyes running-
I heard fabric rustle. "I'm sorry my Lady but I must insist! The Fates will be arriving soon!"
My eyes snapped open. "Already?" I rolled over and tried to untangle myself from the blankets. "You should have started with that!"
She tried to hide her smile again as I failed to untangle myself and fell on the floor. "Please." She coughed to try to cover her laugh. "Let me help you."
I narrowed my eyes and glared down at the blankets. "I can dress myself."
She pouted. "Master Jakken told me to assist you my Lady-"
I held up my hand, effectively silencing her. "Please." I stood up from the floor allowing the blankets to fall around my feet and dusted myself off. "Call me Kagome."
She shook her head. "I couldn't it would be disrespectful my Lad-"
I shook my head and smiled at her. "Where I come from it's unnatural to call someone a lord or lady."
She sighed and held out a cloth bundle she had behind her back. "You are a guest in Lord Sesshomaru's home."
I shrugged. "If he has a problem with it he can come talk to me about it."
Her jaw dropped in surprise. "I-"
I shook my head and looked at her closely, her dark hair was pulled back showing off her pointed ears, her eyes a light blue. "Which tribe are you from?"
She shut her mouth and shook her head. "T-tribe?"
I nodded and inhaled through my nose. "Your a wolf demon right?" She nodded. "You kind of remind me of someone I know from the Eastern tribe."
Her eyes widened. "I-I don't know."
I blinked in surprise. "What do you mean?"
She looked down at her feet. "Lord Sesshomaru's father found me as a cub abandoned by a river not far from here."
I sighed and followed her gaze. "I'm sorry."
She looked up at me with a soft smile. "It does not bother me." She pushed the bundle of cloth at me again. "We need to get you ready my Lady."
I looked into her eyes. "Kagome."
She giggled. "Akasuki."
I gave her a bright smile and took the bundle from her. "I think we'll get along swell."
